If we lose the power grid we are talking a 90% loss of population within a year.  I mean a world wide power loss, not an isolated power loss of several months.
4723  Economy / Economics / Re: Is Bitcoin a viable Plan B? on: March 27, 2014, 08:16:37 PM
If we lose the power grid or the interenet....  People vastly vastly vastly vastly underestimate how much we depend on electricity and the web.  People still do not understand how much the web has changed our lives.  Almost all of my friends think they wouldn't notice if the net just stopped working... "Oh I just couldn't go on the chive"... This is honestly what people think.. the net is just a big toy.

If the net fails, you don't get paid, no one has any idea who owns what... if the web fails.. you better have an army, be part of one or be ready to join one.  We would go back to the era of warlords.. it would be horrific beyond what most people could ever imagine..  The "we are to advance now for......................" is a massive warning sign.

The scary part is peoples ability to defend themselves has been taken from them...  Hitler was the first to completely remove guns from his country, do we remeber how that ended?
4724  Economy / Economics / Re: Well well well on: March 27, 2014, 07:54:10 PM
It's only the beginning. The fiat economy is catching fire everywhere as the credit bubble implodes, which will implode every other bubble in commodities, education, housing, etc. until it hits a major bank that will tank the unregulated derivitives bubble (the Mother of all bubbles!), which will effectively kill the economy with a financial meteor strike.

The game is over, most just don't know it yet. I watch the graphs every day, and none of this is heading anywhere good. The global ponzi scheme laid out from the Federal Reserve is running out of gas. I don't think it will be long before extreme capital controls are everywhere, and bank runs are common all over as everyone tries to bail out.

The only place to go will be digital currencies. A run on the banks could very well spark a run on Bitcoin at the same time. This already happened once last April when Cyprus bank decided to basically steal funds from their depositors and Bitcoin got a huge spike. That was only a taster of whats to come.

Strap on your helmets, we're all about to go for a wild ride as the world changes drastically.

So I am not the only crazy guy who thinks the economic date is very bad in the states and that the USD will crash because of all the liabilities, corruption and waste

Everyone will probably get the money that he is owed but only nominally because the purchasing power of this money will have diminish drastically, it would be better to do hair cuts everywhere and cut the bad debt and unsustainable liabilities but we know most politicians will chose the best choice for them which is not accepting reality and lying some more

The last chance we had was JFK.. executive order 11110 was cancelled right after his death...............................   A bunch of BS theorys were created...  I can't believe how blind people are.,

TBH I think we will see the rise of a PM standard.  China and Russia have been amassing gold/silver, actual gold not the paper joke of gold.  I would bet as soon as things get rough, China announces their currency is backed by gold, shows everyone they actually have it and call america out on their BS holdings.  The cards are in play.. Germany has started the game, they want their gold that doesn't exist.

TBH I would stock pile food and water filteration units, food and water are things of true wealth.

The price fell to $440 when gox fell apart.  IMO the floor is $400.  When people go dump crazy there will be to many buyers to let it go lower.

They were good at keeping rodents from destroying farms and such. Now they just lay around doing nothing......

It's also nice to be attacked by pet requests from my furry friend.  PET ME HUMAN!!!
4732  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why I'm still holding on: March 27, 2014, 04:18:16 PM
I don't see miners shutting down.

Some people like me will mine forever because... I just enjoy mining I don't care too much if I am losing cash while mining.
4733  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do not expect value-based investors in China to hold a bottom on: March 27, 2014, 04:15:27 PM
Every time your country panic sells, we buy.  Pretty soon, the majority of BTC will be back in U.S. hands.  And long term, the U.S. will have the predominate amount of bitcoin holders of any other country.

So yeah China, please keep panic selling.  The new currency war has begun!!  <insert dramatic musical score here>

 Grin

Are you living on fkn Mars? It seems to me that everytime that China panic sells, Bitstamp panic sells 5 minutes later.

.....or am I missing something about that China lead $580 - $505 price slide?

Clown.  Cheesy

That is very likly arbitrage that's going on.....  Force price down on Chinese exhange.. buy.. sell on others.. prices level out.. rinse repeate.
4734  Economy / Speculation / Re: my intuition says: we're sitting on a rocket about to be ignited on: March 27, 2014, 01:52:30 PM
My intuition tells me I have missed the rocket ship... FML  Cry

I think you are wrong, NEVER sell your bitcoins for paper.
4735  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S1 power supply on: March 27, 2014, 12:41:00 PM
I bought a 525W cooler master power supply... it couldn't handle it and I needed to buy another to power the unit.

Make sure the 12 volt rail is rated for 500w +.

The financial system is being compared to casino's to justify it.
4737  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Can we create a truly democratic crypto-currency (possible use - voting)? on: March 26, 2014, 07:35:25 PM
FYI this mind-blowing idea was given to me by someone, whom I wish not to expose at this point.
They can join the discussion and reveal their identity if they wish.

Have there been any attempts at creating a "cryptocurrency" that isn't based on money, but rather on human beings?

The goal:

To see whether we can create a cryptocurrency that lets every human vote on issues.

Possible angle of attack
Base the cryptocurrency on hashed fingerprints.

Each human in the world (mostly) has a unique unforgable fingerprint.
We distribute voting machines to all places of the earth (even on smartphones etc.)

These voting machines are in fact a p2p network using a public ledger/blockchain.

When a person votes, a cryptographic time-dependent hash of his fingerprint is created and distributed over the network.
The hashing algorithm depends on the issue that is being voted.

E.g. if we ask the world "Who do you love more, dad or mom?", the hashing algorithm turns each fingerprint into a unique vote for this specific question and broadcasts it into the network, and results are revealed.

Use Case
World government. Instead of the semi-centralized / hierarchical government structure we have today, we can have a truly decentralized, anonymous government for the entire earth.

In my country , part of the UE , we have a small problem with water:
http://epp.eurostat.ec.europa.eu/cache/ITY_PUBLIC/3-23022011-BP/EN/3-23022011-BP-EN.PDF
mostly access to running water and toilets.
*the paper is from 2009 but it has only changed by 5% in the last yeras

And you're telling me about fingerprint p2p voting system.

Issues with water?  KEEP ON FRACKING BOYS WE DO NOT CONTROL THE WATER MARKET YET!
4738  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: War and Bitcoin on: March 26, 2014, 07:31:44 PM
Take us to war in what way? Bitcoin would probably become more valuable if they delcared a 'war' on it, well, unless they cut the internet cables or something haha.

I meant another world war.. when the ecom gets past the point of their ability to manipulate a war is manufactured.
4739  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [Antminer S1 Sales open] Price changes daily, now 0.893 BTC for 180GH/s on: March 26, 2014, 07:29:39 PM
If I send an email about a tracking code do you think I might get a coupon. LMAO

Hum.. I might try this.. I'd like to get my ant miners by friday Cheesy!
4740  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / War and Bitcoin on: March 26, 2014, 07:23:56 PM
When the banksters take us to war to ensure they keep their grip of control what do you think will happen to BTC?
