4721  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: my bitcoins are lost on: January 22, 2016, 08:59:44 AM
they hostage my bitcoins

from blockchain.info I sent 80 dollar in btc's to my MultiBit wallet
it is still pending, so I cannot use this money...... I lost my money?

In the worst case scenario your transaction will not be confirmed and those funds will come back to you. I think you need to study a little bit more if you want to use BTC.  Wink
4722  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blocks are full. on: January 22, 2016, 08:44:41 AM
I hear talking like the big guys we are here to defeat: this is not the FED.

If the economy goes wrong then let's give them some QE, then after a while QE2, then QE3 and so forth.

If we start raising the block size it will be like that in a way: tomorrow 2MB, in one week 4MB, you understand the trick.

This is not the $ and never it will be.

If it's needed to bring adoption forward then go ahead. Bitcoin will never succeed when adoption is hindered effectively. Sure there are potential problems, one has to deal with it like it happened all the time. And suddenly an arbitrarely setting becomes a breaking stone.

To me there's one fundamental assumption to make: this coin is made of 21 millions pieces. We can break it into more digits but we will always have 21 mln unless we don't super hard fork it.
Let's not be unrealistic: BTC is not for mass adoption. This is what I wanted to say in regard to my dollar metaphor.
And, look, I'm not saying problems require to be left on their own but more thank a block size, hard fork debate I see different people's opinions having battles.

12 hours before the jar opens, I would like to share a warm up pick which I'm highly confident in.

Tennis
Dominic Thiem vs David Goffin
Dominic (20) is the next name in top tennis players meets Goffin (16), very stable player, and in very good shape now.
Both players have great % of serving points (Thiem 81% Goffin 76%.) We will see only fee breaks today, and I can't believe one of those players can win 3-0 in sets today. Both players are fighters. And I believe we will see over 39 games today.

Pick- Over 39 games @ 2

What a wonderful pick Carles! Really great prediction: so unlucky I was not around at the time. You gave us the right explanation and the best pick @ 2.00
Well done
4724  Economy / Speculation / Re: China central bank going to release their own digital currency good for bitcoin? on: January 22, 2016, 08:26:32 AM
We are talking about China, basically a dictatorship.

Oligarchy, actually - but it's still a SMALL circle of people that control the place, not even in the ballpark of a representative type government, and a government that seems inclined to start trying to push it's weight around in disreguard of the international community (though not as beligerant about it as North Korea, China seems more inclined to actually PUSH things the last couple years).

Yes sorry my bad. Anyway I'm afraid China does not have a good reputation so far even if it can't be seen as North Korea, or at least, not at the moment.

We are talking about China, basically a dictatorship. What will happen when and if they will also be able to control the money supply thanks to any digital mean? I don't know but that does not look good to me.
As others said this coin will have nothing to do with BTC.

I have been warning of the power blockchain gives to govs... it's a very dangerous tool... Those claims the NSA created are starting to get a bit of traction with me.. the prefect tool for enslavement of the entire human race hidden as the thing that will free us.. brilliantly evil

Aldous Huxley predicted it as I see it in Brave New World: we will be put in chains by the things we liked more than those we don't.
Yes, brilliantly evil if it will happen.

Houston Rocket let you down CarlesPuyol. Very good for you to leave some BTC aside. Maybe you should have waited after Kazan victory.
Nice try, do it again!
4727  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: January 21, 2016, 08:27:44 AM
Sassuolo - Torino maybe a draw or both teams to score

Coppa Italia Lazio - Juve: both teams to score

About Napoli - Inter I would have never bet on Inter: good win for them.

I got the draw between Sassuolo and Torino but I missed Juventus. I was really expecting at least one goal from Lazio. What a pity  Sad

The moment a chart goes public even if that is the most accurate chart on Earth, that's the moment in which it fails.
However, I see your chart differently. What you said is well over now: it should have been done after Hearn's article.

Better to observe than to predict.
4730  Economy / Speculation / Re: Automated posting on: January 21, 2016, 08:11:37 AM

Good morning Chartbuddy.........
Thanks for letting us know that we are almost near 430$ which is where we were before the last crazy days.

OT: don't you all see the financial world out there is crumbling down while BTC grow strong against everything else? They said BTC is dead, far from it.
4731  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Blocks are full. on: January 20, 2016, 03:32:24 PM
Right now Bitcoin's price is rallying and block are full. According to blockchain.info backlog of unconfirmed transactions is 11.6 MB right now and as far as I know there is now spam or stress test going on. How worse does it need to get?

Do you mean that there is NO spam or stress test going on?
Otherwise your post makes no sense to me.  Smiley
4732  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: January 20, 2016, 03:26:29 PM
Somebody needs cash huge Manipulation going on.

As noted before Chinese exchanges market volume changed rapidly before the price went up.
It might be a fake pump.
Caution!

And now for something completely different: something tenously related to trading

Note how the volume pattern changed on OKCoin after the last drop. Before the drop you could see the day/night rythm proper of China's time zone. After the drop there is nearly continuous activity, around the clock. Robot traders frantically proping up the price is not a far-fetched possibility...

The volume pattern before the drop itself was different than what I remembered from 2014.  Then it was smother, more sinusoidal.  The one you see on the image above has strong daily peaks that decay abruptly. Maybe some bitcoin ponzi in China updates his webpage once a day?

I saw quite a lot of volume on Poloniex lately, more than 2 BTC. Someone sold and someone bought a good stash.
This coin is really moving along.

Well done OP! The "journalist" is not going to read your answers but at least you made a nice review of his article which is going to stay here.
Bravo! Wink

Let me understand, Bitcoin's dead but it still works. Do I have to think we are dealing with a zombie?
The moment I see this thing is broken I'll leave, not before.

Long live btc: my 4/5 daily transactions are confirmed regularly, for me BTC works.

People need to do a bank run in every exchange (maybe even online wallets too) well before we reach the point of the hard fork, to ensure that they have control of their BTCs.

AlexGR raises an excellent point. If there is an upcoming contentious hardfork scheduled then the first things people are going to do is withdraw ALL their coins off the exchanges and out of any custodial services.

All those bitcoin alliance folks and corporates that have made their businesses out of holding on to other people's coins in custody should keep that mind whilst they are pushing for contentious hardforks.

Ah, AlexGR's FUD sidekick...

Which idoits are going to leave their coins on an exchange or with Coinbase or BitGo or Bitpay before a hardfork?

Why leave the vote with them which fork your coins will end up on when you can keep your options open and hedge bets by holding them in cold storage?

Not really clear why people leave quiet coins there in the first place.

Because many people think that those are the best places to keep their own bitcoin, not everyone knows all the implications of leaving coins there.
The Bitcoin world is not only made by people from this forum: I think most of the people who use BTC don't even come here to understand what it is.
We have to be realistic: for the majority of the people BTC = speculation (and we are writing in a speculation thread)

He did not say he's going to bet everyday but that he'll bet on the ones he thinks are the best games. His strategy is good we just have to wait and see.
Betting on basketball is a very good choice.
4739  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Lets try to make 1.5 BTC from 0.013. Total profit so far: 0.16btc on: January 19, 2016, 08:47:21 AM
You know, usually I see these threads pop up and think "Oh yeah right..." but your actually pulling them off! Good for you!

Maybe as of right now, you should think about putting them on a parlay and getting better odds, plus you don't have to wait day by day... mehh.. idk, keep doing what you're doing.

BTW just curious, what site are you going off of? I didn't see where you were betting in the OP.

I dont agree on making parlay. With parlay you will have more risk because there is more than 2 match that you need to double or triple your payout and you need to win all of the parlay to win it , the risk is too high so I dont think parlay is a good option to take

Plus with parlays you are usually only looking at matches for the same day. The method OP is using he picks from his favorite matches each day which gives higher winner probabilities.

Keep it up Carlos!

Quite a simple practice but in years of betting I've never thought of it! That is a great idea! I'm following this challenge with much interest.
Come on Carles

CONCLUSION

I believe in Bitcoin. I believe in the Blockchain. I know that the vast potential is just being realized. We wish Mr. Hearn all the best as he commences his work with our friends at R3CEV. It is important that we respect various input but simultaneously resist the temptation to give Mr. Hearn’s voice too much weight.

Bitcoin is not an instant payment network and not a fancy replacement for PayPal or Visa. It is first and foremost a decentralized system, which sacrifices speed in favor of security. A key feature provided by decentralization is permissionless entry for users and developers — and it is thanks to this component that Bitcoin has grown into much more than a currency and has become a platform for Blockchain innovations.

Most importantly, Bitcoin is a new world created for anyone — especially for someone like me — who didn’t grow up in a world where “trusted emissary” was a reality and the idea of “asset security” was something other people in other parts of the world enjoyed.

I believe in Bitcoin because I believe in democracy and I believe in open societies. And as Winston Churchill once said: “Democracy is the worst form of Government, except for all the others.” Open source projects are not perfect, but they unite the best and most innovative thinkers, and I am honored to be a part of this mission.

Is it just me or am I reading one of the most reasonable comments made by a Bitcoin insider so far?
Well said Valery
