4721  Economy / Economics / Re: Cryptocurrencies Pose Risks to Banks, Warns Basel Committee on: March 15, 2019, 07:57:17 PM
The Basel Committee on Banking Supervision, the group that bother us with banking restrictions, KYC/AML, etc... the same group supposed "lobbying" a reliable financial system.

An alternative currency like Bitcoin can risk the economy maybe, but maybe we need to reset the financial system to get the Bitcoin mass adoption. Imagine, a fresh start with BTC as an INTL. currency.
4722  Other / Off-topic / Re: Recommended VPN Services? on: March 15, 2019, 07:17:17 PM
Make your own  Grin
Buy a cheap VPS (you can find some good deal on LowEndBox for $15/ year) and install OpenVPN. It's not so difficult to set up even if you never did it before, there are many tutorials available online to watch for. You do it only once and you're good to go. You can add also another user to share the connection with your friends or family for example
4723  Economy / Speculation / Re: No bull market for 2019 on: March 15, 2019, 05:37:09 PM
These guys repeat like parrots what the previous "expert" said and they just add a twist (they change the BTC/$ price prediction or say it will be ok in 2019). Everyone is saying the same thing and it's just a random prediction or a random bet... and a lot of them don't come back to say they were wrong.

It's easy to say "Bitcoin will turn to positive in 2019" you have 50% to win, Heads or Tails
4724  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-03-13] Crypto Startup: JP Morgan Chase Closed Account with No Explanation on: March 15, 2019, 05:15:40 PM
JPMorgan Chase was already in the blockchain and developed Quorum https://github.com/jpmorganchase/quorum
It's an Ethereum based distributed ledger and the JPM Coin will be issued on it but as they announced on its website it's still a prototype and it hasn't any approval from regulators, and it's a coin designed for B2B for institutions.companies.
4725  Economy / Exchanges / Re: good easie trading sites who accpt ach bank transfer on: March 14, 2019, 08:13:58 PM
i am looking for both bitcoin and crypto.

Bitcoin is crypto...

Adding to @BitMaxz list, Gemini and BitBay are also accepting ACH for USD deposits. I don't how fast they are to verify your account but it's the same thing almost everywhere.

Bank transfer = ACH
Bank transfer (ACH) ≠ Wire transfer
4726  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: BitcoinTransit .com worth developing? on: March 14, 2019, 07:39:38 PM
Transit made me think about BTC TXs and mempools. The only idea coming was just a Bitcoin charts website.
But if it's something related to travel, what about creating a search engine or a directory about traveling/Tickets/etc that can be purchased with Bitcoin? In the example an airline ticket comparator, a la Booking.com style.
4727  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin is Cheap Until April, We’ll Never See Price at $3,000 Again: Trader on: March 14, 2019, 05:17:40 PM

From December 2018 (date on which Bitcoin gradually losts value from ~$6k to ~$3,5k) to March 2019 the Bitcoin value has remained around $3,500 with small up and down here and there.
What I mean is Bitcoin is already cheap, for several months the price is around the same on average. Its value could be less than the $3,000 line. if a scenario like we got in Dec 2018 happens, it could bring the Bitcoin value to the $2,5k-$2k range
4728  Economy / Economics / Re: Widening Russia Money Laundering Scandal Hits European Banks on: March 14, 2019, 04:41:14 PM
This just goes to show how easy it is for banking institutions to launder money without hitting some obvious red flags and still getting that great treatment from the government. I don't know why banks are only getting fined if they got caught facilitating money laundering and fraudulent schemes on their platforms, but when it comes to exchange operators and traders, it's almost immediate time behind bars and immediate closure and revocation of operating license in most countries. It should be the same for any institution that handles money!

Because it costs them less to pay a fine instead to go to a justice court (even to be sentenced to $0). It is even a common procedure in some countries, and also often an agreement between both parties. It's a matter of reputation the lawyers are generally defending.

If there's any contribution to society blockchain could make, it could be in the form of mandated public ledgers where all transactions are public knowledge and open to scrutiny.
It's something that could be started with the taxes funds for example. We could check how our money is used (infrastructures, education, health,...) But from a bank, a mandated public ledger could be difficult to implement for multiple reasons, on the top f that they could always mix the bitcoins, who knows maybe banks like HSBC will use ChipMixer
4729  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-03-13]Top 3 Blockchain Trends to Impact Businesses in 2019 on: March 14, 2019, 04:05:39 PM
BaaS is definitely one of the greatest opportunities that are emerging. It will be played initially by the big players that already dominate Cloud Business. An opportunity for Google, Microsoft etc to dispute with Amazon.

But I believe that in a second stage, these companies also compete against decentralized solutions that although more expensive will offer more customization and security in the long run.

Microsoft and Google have already a BaaS, Microsoft is one of the leading company with Deloitte and IBM. Amazon is brand new with it. But yeah I agree, the major players in the technology industry will surely have the monopoly

Their products target companies for their own use, to create private blockchains. Why a company should care about "decentralization" while its goal is something totally different and the blockchain is 'private'.
An example, Insurances could use smart contracts for a blockchain-based automation protocol. Do they have an advantage with decentralization?
4730  Economy / Speculation / Re: What brings to crypto? on: March 13, 2019, 08:02:09 PM
The majority doesn't understand the blockchain technology behind.

Generally speaking, I honestly don't care about the blockchain as technology either. I got bored of it because it's just one big buzzword hype businesses try to exploit in order to raise capital. It's obviously their right to do so, and actually a smart move businesswise, but that doesn't make the blockchain as technology any better.

The only thing of value that blockchains offer is their decentralization, and Bitcoin absolutely mastered the art of being a useful blockchain. Corporate and private entities don't need a blockchain, just a well configured database. It's more scalable and has been an option well before Bitcoin even existed.

If it isn't for the decentralization, the only thing left here is gains, and considering that the majority of the people don't care about decentralization, they're here for the gains. It's ok, they bring in liquidity, so there is at least one positive aspect to their speculative journey in crypto.

Yes, true, a well-secured database can be enough in most case, but there are some industries that can make a real use. I don't mean the blockchain would revolutionize their business but for sure but it can help to make a more efficient system. I can't give a concrete example but the military defense and its supply chain (the blockchain start to be used by 2-3 companies) can be more efficient by 10-15%. (The USA don't use the blockchain directly ofc). For a company 10% increase in efficiency means a couple of million of profit increase yearly Smiley

4732  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Best Type of Bitcoin Wallet? on: March 13, 2019, 12:18:48 PM
OP, just head on to Amazon now, they have reasonable price...
It is not recommended to buy hardware wallets from any third party for your own safety. Only purchase them from the official sites and official re-sellers. Amazon/Ebay and similar sites should not be trusted with your funds.

Ledger is selling on Amazon (and it's the only merchant selling on amazon.com, .fr, .de, and surely .uk too) So it depends. You can be buying from the original seller but on different e-commerce platforms. With Amazon's extensive logistics, it's even an advantage for them, Amazon is doing the job for shipping.

If it's a bankruptcy he wouldn't necessarily have had to falsify his death. Maybe he wouldn't even have been in debt or not so much.
If this is an exit scam, he could have done it much later, or he didn't have the patience to wait for an ATH.

They just need to follow his wife to find him, the criminals always come back to the boobs  Cheesy
I already know that this story is going to be like a detective story. I hope we'll see a lot of twists and turns in it, the TV program is boring these days.

4734  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: will Bitcoin clock 4k today. on: March 13, 2019, 11:24:39 AM
Last febuary, we saw bitcoin hit pass 4k to 4,200k. it looks like we are enjoying a better days ahead till it slumps back to 3700k. After a very much good news and updates surrounding the cryptosphere the market currently has been green recently. do we see Bitcoin hitting pass 4k today and will the uptrend last for long.
I guess we are due to hit that price, $4K should be the resistance now, after hitting that, we might see more uptrend.
News has been good lately so I don't see a reason why we should not hit that.
Patience is just very important at this stage as we are on a recovery stage, when it's stable, we can expect more.

Only "might" like you say...
It's one thing, but Bitcoin isn't able to go above the $4,000 and it hardly sustains the $3,8 $3,9k. It reached $4,200 only once in the last 30 days. Bitcoin struggles more than something else.
In recent days, I didn't find the news helpful for the market, yes patience is needed but we need to get some substance.  Smiley

4737  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: massive feb visitor collapse in Bitcointalk and Coinmarketcap founding websites on: March 12, 2019, 05:52:08 PM
Currently, a lack of interest in cryptos could explain the situation. (But doesn't mean it won't come back) When you check the Google trend for "Bitcoin" It hasn't decreased or increased a lot since summer 2018. https://trends.google.com/trends/explore?q=Bitcoin
And a lack of interest means not much, we got periods like this one some years ago, I guess it comes and goes but it shouldn't stay too long
4738  Economy / Speculation / Re: What brings to crypto? on: March 12, 2019, 05:30:20 PM
The main reason people are coming to crypto is the money sadly. There are the ones who buy Bitcoin and hope to see it "mooning" within 6 months. And there are the ones that buy the first altcoin they heard about and they think it will pump at 1000% within 48h.
The majority doesn't understand the blockchain technology behind.

Surprisingly, the website is back online today Huh, did they announced something about a relaunch and its users balance? Not that I care about mine, I have just a few cents in and I see them in my wallet, but I'm wondering about users with "a lot of coins"

It will be a real challenge for them to regain the trust of users Roll Eyes
4740  Economy / Economics / Re: Acceptance of bitcoin as payment! on: March 12, 2019, 02:53:36 PM
If bitcoin regulated in many country as currency and able for used in merchant, perhaps bitcoin can useful for tourist because its more secure and flexible. But i think bitcoin will become digital asset because government must be wont lose control on money supply

We don't need to have regulations to use Bitcoin there is nothing stopping us (or merchants) and we don't need regulations to see mass adoption. It will come from people themselves, whatever because they're looking for an alternative payment system, financial privacy, or they're interested to save up on the fees, are unbanked, ...
