4721  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: St. Petersburg police closed scam cryptocurrency exchanger on: September 05, 2020, 11:56:47 AM
That's great, but do you think that this news have something to do with Bitcoin?
Those scammers can be considered as fiat/bank scammers and not cryptocurrency scammers. The fact that they have created a crypto exchange to launder their stolen fiat money doesn't prove that they are Bitcoin/crypto scammers.Anyway, the Russian police is going a great job, which surprises me sometimes.
Forum threads about fiat scammers should be moved to another sub-forum. Grin
But the fact that this criminals do put up an illegal crypto exchange site, and mix their laundered money and resulted in bitcoin or other crypto, then it make sense that this news will attract or correlated to bitcoin in general. Why it's very surprising though, government agencies are really haunting down those crypto scam artist or criminals, might take a lot of investigative work though through blockchain and cooperation from a lot of sources as well.
4722  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: September 05, 2020, 11:02:51 AM
What do you guys think of A. Zverev?, I'm keeping a close eye on him in this tournament and it seems he is really doing good, much more relax than I've ever seen him (I do hope that I didn't jinx Alex here).
I agree that he is fairly good in this tournament. But we will have to see how far can he go. He will be up against Fokina in the next round.

Djokovic already leading two sets to nil and up 1-0 on the third set against Struff, I guess he will be through to the next round. Ćorić will be a big test for Stefanos but I know he can win.  Smiley
Unfortunately, Tsitsipas wasn't able to hold Ćorić after winning the first set, they battle into five set and lost at the tiebreak. Cilic vs Thiem will be fun tomorrow. I'm expecting a five set as well, with Thiem winning a hard battle. While Djokovic will have another easy on Carreno Busta.
4723  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2020 NBA Season on: September 05, 2020, 10:36:49 AM
That post about Giannis needing a Jordan to win a ring appears to be true now. Looking forward to next season and if he doesn't leave the franchise, Bucks management should get him real point guard/s so he doesn't have to dribble a lot. Just focus on dominating the paint. Kahwi seems to be doing a better job at scoring inside than him lol.
As far as I know, no team has comeback from 0-3 deficit so it's going to be difficult task for the Bucks. They have been good in the first 3 quarters, but then collapses in the 4th. And it will be really a big upset obviously as the number 1 seed losing 0-4 in the first round, that will be humiliating, reigning MVP, ouch. They are really good in regular season, but always feel short in playoffs, something must be done.
4724  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Defi Effect - What makes DeFi not reliable? on: September 05, 2020, 09:57:03 AM
DeFi is brutal not all DeFi projects can be profitable. If you are new to DeFi and thinking about investing in it then think twice before you invest and DYOR..
Of course, we all know that this is coming and that it will be the biggest mistakes for majority of investors specially newbies who don't understand how everything works. And now, just barely months into this Defi hype, some have been REKT already, specially in the last 48 hours wherein we see a dramatic drop so everyone is bitching around and didn't know what hits them, and yes it's brutal. The only one that makes money here is the whales we keeps on manipulating the market.
4725  Economy / Speculation / Re: Who sets the bitcoin price? on: September 05, 2020, 09:37:52 AM
Many people who new in the crypto world think that Bitcoin is managed by a company and the owners hold all of the Bitcoin and they are selling them into the market when they need the money that's why Bitcoin price is change daily.
I don't know about this, but the first thing you learn when you get involved in bitcoin is that it is decentralised, no central authority.

But as a newbie, I Think the Bitcoin price change for two reasons. One reason is supply and demand.
That is the basic tenet of bitcoin, supply and demand, and with limited supply, the price has the potential to grow overtime.

Second reason It is very easy to buy and sell in the marketplace. There is no govt. rules for buying and selling crypto. No need to go bank or others. Anyone can buy Bitcoin easily using the blockchain network which has a direct impact on the bitcoin price.
More likely you buy bitcoin in an exchange, or thru P2P. Yes, there are no government rules, but regulations are already here. And most exchanges now requires, KYC documents.

At Present, the crypto world is trying to resolve slow speed up the number of transactions. When this change is applied, the world is converted into a new cryptocurrency world.
There is already LN (Lightning Network).
4726  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is now the 6th largest world currency on: September 04, 2020, 09:57:11 AM
I think it is necessary to include gold and silver in this ranking. Any ranking that compares Bitcoin to money needs to include them. This strengthens the idea that Bitcoin is also an excellent store of value.

While I agree that it's more accurate for bitcoin to be compared to gold, the topic is about comparing bitcoin to other currencies though(obviously gold is not a currency), not necessarily other assets in general.
Or we have seen bitcoin compared to gold many times already, like in 2017 and now in 2020 wherein we are in a bull run. However, I don't believed that we need to compare BTC to any fiat currency we have right now. Obviously, BTC's supply is just 21 million, and those fiat can print as much as they can, so comparison wouldn't be fair in my opinion. Of course, the price is very unstable, we could hit 6 digits next year and pushes itself to the top 5, but then again when that bubble is burst, ranking will also go down.
4727  Economy / Speculation / Re: 3 Reasons Bitcoin Just Tanked Below $11K for First Time in a Month on: September 04, 2020, 09:08:09 AM
1. Bitcoin slid in sync with traditional markets

- I thought that there's no correlation with traditional markets?

2. Bitcoin got pulled down because of DeFi unwinding

- There are a lot of smart investors, it they are going to take the plug off on Defi, then there is something that they need to shift their funds right? So I guess bitcoin should be the best bet for them. So this is highly unlikely though.

3. Miners sold some of their bitcoin

- This is interesting but they should have sold with the price is above $12k. At least that's the typical and most logical move for them, not that the price is already sliding down.
4728  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is CEX A Bridge between the Secondary Market and DeFi? on: September 04, 2020, 08:31:20 AM
I think it's pretty obvious, CEX facilitates everything so definitely they can be called a bridge and most traders are really into CEX right now because of the volumes and liquidity it has to offer as compare to DEX. And this numbers just coincides with what we are seeing right now, altcoin market is on a bull run because of the craziness of Defi with billions now flowing and more to come as there is no stopping this bubble.
4729  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Tennis League All Thread on: September 04, 2020, 08:07:45 AM
Felix Auger Aliassime win the match in 3 sets, saw the match till 2 sets but truly not an interesting match.
For the next round, Thiem will face Marin Cilic this is will be a tough match for both.
In women sided, I just realize that the first seed out from the tournament, lose from Garcia.
To be honest, I have never seen any match for this US Open 2020, it's not that I'm not interested, just the timing though. Too bad the Andy Murray is out, nothing to take against Felix Auger Aliassime, but I wish we could at least see more of Andy. Thiem is leading H2H, although they've only face twice, but I think Thiem will take care of Cilic again. Although there are reports about Thiem asking for Red Bull, but was denied because the organisers doesn't what the brand to be visible as obviously, Red Bull is not a sponsor and doesn't want to give a free advertisement.
4730  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Tanks to $10.4K; ETH Market Dominance at 2020 High on: September 04, 2020, 07:27:12 AM
Surely we're not talking about another round of flippening talk? I mean, sure Defi will grow and grow and some day unlimited supply means it will eventually get closer to BTC but bubbles burst eventually, and Bitcoin doesn't need a defi craze to grow!
There could be some ETH enthusiast you might be talking about flippening, but I don't think it will gain traction though. And no, it won't happen, one thing that it experience, similar to bitcoin is the exorbitant gain fees lately, even higher that BTC itself. And we all know what's fueling the altcoin bubble, the Defi madness.
As far as I can remember, the so called Flippening is based on price, meaning Ethereum price should be at par or higher than Bitcoin. And obviously, Ethereum is not even closed. But I do agree that the sudden dominance of Ethereum or at least some major altcoins are due to the Defi craze. Interesting to see what will happen to Bitcoin though, seems the decline has stop a bit, $10,300 is more likely we are going to settle for this week.
4731  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: VPN for cryptocurrencies? on: September 04, 2020, 07:10:45 AM
VPN is one of the options to make yourself anonymous in the internet but it's just a small part of the whole system on how you keep your Cryptocurrencies safe.
I disagree though, VPN won't make you anonymous, specially if you used this so called free VPN. This might be a good guide though, https://thatoneprivacysite.net/#simple-vpn-comparison. And everyone should read their TOS very carefully. Because maybe some of them are collecting your real name and addresses, just saying. The OP can find a lot of guides in the Beginners & Help.

4732  Economy / Speculation / Re: sell now or you WILL regret it on: September 03, 2020, 11:47:50 AM
I am a multi millionaire with no agenda.
The market will prove it to you.
Keep buying the dip. I'll be praying for you
You should understand where the people here are coming from, yes the price is going down, but we have seen this kind of movement multiple times already that majority are not panicking. Of course there are also predictions here that if the price goes below $11.200 which is the support and very strong, then obviously if we decline even further. But no need to be arrogant here, just saying.
4733  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: BBC Sports Personality 2020 on: September 03, 2020, 11:31:38 AM
It is surprising to see that the odd to win of Ronnie O'Sullivan is quite low. He is the best snooker player in the world and recently won the World Championship for the 6th time, but I think his chances to win are quite low. The only snooker player to have ever won the BBC Sports Personality is Steve Davis. Even the great Stephen Hendry has never won it.
I think snooker is not the popular though, and although Ronnie O'Sullivan is really that good, I don't think he reach so much influence as let's say compare to Fury right now or Lewis Hamilton.

I am placing a bet on Fury to win the award.
Fury is clearly the the odds favorite to win and he could get it this year with his back to back wins against Wilder.
4734  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [Boxing]: Casimero vs Micah - Sept 26 on: September 03, 2020, 10:59:50 AM
Not really exciting to see, most of us are waiting for Casimero and Inoue bout.
Yes, that is the fight that we have been waiting.

But anyway, you can't underestimate olympian boxer but not a champion. Fighting with this opponent is also a good fight for Casimero but not good as with Inoue, his performance does not really impress everyone.
Casimero doesn't have a choice, he had trained already for the Inoue fight, and he doesn't want to waste it so he might as well get a live sparring fighter in the Olympic Micah.

Wait for the bookies to open. betting for Casimero as well.
The odds won't be that attractive because Casimero will be the outstanding favorite here.
4735  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [SCAM Alert] OmiseGO fake giveaway, they will steal your wallet's private key. on: September 01, 2020, 12:23:21 PM
So it's time for omiseGO now? Maybe we will see several new giveaways about omisego.  Grin
I don't sure you guys will be agreed with me or not to me. We are going to see the same hype like 2017 where many fake/scam projects were success ( this success actually of stealing people money ). Maybe the day is very near and we will see some projects will run away with people's money. Because lots of project are coming recently with fake team, whitepaper, plagarised content etc, and lot of fake airdropes.
Totally agree with you, but this time, scammers are boldier that 2017. Now, we have all kinds of criminals around, cyber actors, phishers, etc. Unlike in 2017 wherein the scams come from the people behind the projects and some fake airdrops. So times have change a bit, but the end result is just the same, crypto sphere will be plague again specially that we are in the bull run already. So I do hope that with the amount of warnings we are giving, no noobs from this community will fall for this fake airdrops.
4736  Economy / Speculation / Re: Your plans for the coming bull on: September 01, 2020, 11:33:25 AM
I just stick to bitcoin, and been stacking sats here and there, whatever I can to prepare to a bigger bull run in 2021. I just this is the best strategy, regardless if you are a newbie or experience trader. Although altcoin is also good to hold at this point since they have their own bull run because of Defi, but the risk is greater. So if you are unsure then bitcoin all the way till the new all time high.
4737  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Heads Up Folks I think they know how to Crash or Bring down the Value of a Pump on: September 01, 2020, 10:17:28 AM
And what makes you so sure that Big Brother are going to exhaust every means, even try to used the computing power of a quantum computer to their advantage? doesn't make sense at all. Those so called problems that you are talking about can be solved by just a ordinary pc, no need to used QC. I urge you to read this: What is Pump and Dump Scheme?.
4738  Economy / Speculation / Re: History shows Bitcoin price may take 3-12 months to finally break $20K on: August 31, 2020, 11:23:29 AM
3-12 months? We are already in a bull run, we are just waiting for the right timing to really get the price to another all time high. But if we are going to look at the four year cycle, 2021 is the real target or at least majority is predicting that we might not just get to $20k, but more than that, $40k-$50k is what the conservative estimates where. So let's see if the cycle will continue, at least though, at $11k today, we are just off by just a couple of thousands of dollars unlike most altcoins which is still down like 80% from their previous all time highs.
4739  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: POSITIVE PREDICTION AND SUITE SAYING BEGINS AGAIN on: August 31, 2020, 10:37:45 AM
Bitcoin rises above 11,600 dollars again for the first time in a long time. This has brought about series of predictions like we saw in 2017.
This is the time for us all to learn from the past experiences. We have to know when to swap to stable coins and when to swap back to bitcoin to avoid loss associated with drastic fall in price that may occur in the future.
Are you trying to hedge your bitcoin so that you won't suffer when the price goes down? In the long run though, doesn't sounds good specially if we are already in a bull run. Why not just hold on it and never swap and then wait for the price to increase again? And if you are a bitcoin investor or trader you know that there is a big risk involved. So you can either sell, then bought back at the dip or just simply hold for long term.
4740  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Electrum update: A trader lost 1400 BTC on: August 31, 2020, 10:07:09 AM
1400 Bitcoin equals $ 16 million at the moment. Why could he be so careless? That's the bulk of his wealth, I think if he deposited his money in a reputable exchange he probably wouldn't lose all of his money. This will be a lesson for us in managing our assets. The best way is to use the latest and licensed software.
This is not the first time that we have heard someone losing their big chunk of bitcoin through this message. The problem is that the guy didn't even bother to check the latest Electrum version and it seems he was really out for 3 years (for whatever reasons it maybe). It's just one days, he decided to check his assets, so we don't know where he is living for the last 3 years that he didn't know what's really going on crypto or at least with Electrum. A lot of options is available for him to store his bitcoins but he didn't. Disheartening to hear this news, unfortunately there's nothing that we can do as it is a foregone conclusion.
