Ive been so out of touch regarding GPU mining forgive me, but this coin caught my eye.

Save having to read through 200 plus pages of posts, is this worth firing up my GPU farm?  I had shut it down when we launched our ASIC farm, but recently had an additional large chunk of AC allotted to me for 3+ months.

Running 60 280x Cards and 20 270x cards... Not sure of the exact math but with W0lfs miner which he posted on Reddit I think Id be approaching 500 Mhash.

Thoughts?

I ask because turning the rigs backs on means updating all the SGMiners, W0lfs Binaries, etc. A bit of work.

Any advice would be appreciated.

Cheers,

Strato
For a 500Mh/s farmer,I would recommed you  to buy a copy of optimized gpu miner from wolf0,it will make your 500Mh/s to 750Mh/s+.

Correct me if Im wrong, but arent his Kernals 50+ BTC?

Total props to W0lf for his awesome work, but with only 500 mhash...

I dont see an ROI there, unless the price is far less.

Strato

No, they aren't often - it depends on the kernel. I usually make a deal with some farmers for some BTC up front plus a percentage - it works out pretty well.

god you are a thief lol

Thief? I'd like to know your twisted logic for that one.
Hmm let me see 50BTC for a kernel on a coin whose price is dropping like a stone...
or 10-20BTC and a percentage of your mining income ?

I would rather mine at normal rates or not at all than get extorted.
Its like those deals where you shop gets busted up if you don't pay a protection or extortion fee.

A reasonable price for a kernal would be 5BTC or so but 50BTC !?! thats just pure thievery  especially when you know

for a fact that your buyers won't make a fraction of 50BTC back even with your "Super Kernel"

Nope - I only charged 50 to release three seperate kernels for large boosts to highly profitable algos. In reality, I charge around 5 BTC or less up front. I am not an unreasonable person.
ok that makes sense thanks for clearing that up

my mistake

How about playing a game ?
Let's predict when spr will die (price below 100 satoshi) .

I'm sure these guys have another pump or two in them.  Only problem is they'll be hard pressed to find anyone to buy into this scam.  But it's not hard to trade back and forth and bring the price up for nothing more than trading fee's to make people think the coin is worth more than it actually is.  Bittrex makes it really easy since you can buy and sell to yourself using one account.  Other exchanges make you create another account.  That's why bittrex is the preferred exchange for many.  Look at all the coins that get listed there, rapidly increase market share, and then get dumped into the bowels of hell.  It's a pumper and dumpers paradise.

yet another reason why i don't mess with ScamTrexx

my new suggestion for crontab control that implements a daytime mode from 7am-6pm on workdays to coincide with the local electricity rates:

00 07 * * 1-5 cp -rf /etc/mg_custom_mode_day /etc/mg_custom_mode && logger "daymode" && /usr/local/bin/spond-manager restart
00 18 * * 1-5 cp -rf /etc/mg_custom_mode_night /etc/mg_custom_mode && logger "nightmode" && /usr/local/bin/spond-manager restart

mg_custom_mode_day:    FAN:4 VS0:630 VS1:630 VS2:630 VS3:630 VMAX:660 AC0:165 AC1:165 AC2:165 AC3:160 DC_AMP:170
mg_custom_mode_night:  FAN:50 VS0:680 VS1:680 VS2:680 VS3:670 VMAX:710 AC0:230 AC1:230 AC2:230 AC3:220 DC_AMP:170

EDIT: tried it out, and realised that even though the miner is in EST, the crontab is based on UTC. I had to bump both times forward 5hrs (ie 12 and 23) to trigger at the correct times. System spun up the fans for a few seconds to implement the changes, then continued to mine with the new fan/voltage/wattage settings in place (no reboot required)

IMO this might be more useful for anyone who wants more complex scheduling.

update: changed 'echo' to 'logger' presumably this will properly write "daymode"/"nightmode" to the log files when the change occurs. SP-T support clarified a reboot isnt required, so the above commands should work fine. (it was suggested that changing ACx isnt necessary though, i guess because ideally it will be set to whatever the PSU limitations are, rather than desired power draw at each mode)

this is neat , I need to modify my sp20s to use these settings , I dont have anything backed up though

Yeah im holding out for a drop before I buy anything
4747  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: January 30, 2015, 06:48:49 PM
SP31 4.9 TH/s ± 10%
2 x 1200 W - Drawing 2 x 1500 W "at the wall" (approved by the manufacturer)

You got your numbers wrong for sp31. At 4.5 would be around 2700w

And you need very good psu for sp20! crappy psu with 18awg wire is not good

come on brah that's super in efficient my numbers are not wrong

Best efficiency on the sp31 is 4.500-4.400 TH at 1100 watts per PSU .

I have an sp30 and I run it at 4.100 TH  at 1000 watts per PSU .  The sp31 is a tad more efficient so 4.4 TH at 2100 or 2200 TH should be doable.

p.s I get these numbers using the auto fan option, with fans normally set to 80% it seems to eat far more power.
4748  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: [ANN] Spondoolies-Tech - carrier grade, data center ready mining rigs on: January 30, 2015, 04:49:16 PM
so whats the better deal now
sp 31 at 4500 TH or so pulling 2100 or so watts  price $2200
or 3 sp20 pulling 1.55 TH at 3000 watts for 1200 or so

tough call.  Then you throw in the mini farm which is 24TH at around 15000Watts for $5500 k
vs
5 sp 31 at 22.5 TH pulling a measly 10500 watts  far more efficient of course but twice the price Sad

someone run the numbers lol

4749  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Pics of Large Miner Hosting Center Under Construction on: January 29, 2015, 03:58:06 AM
So how much would it cost in total to host the sp20 mini farm (15 sp20s all pulling around 1.2KW(1200 watts))

How about PSU's I assume those would have to be shipped as well ?  Sounds really risky to send all that hardware to a hosting company with no guarntees

Depends on if you'd like to prepay your contract or not.

Prices range from:

$75-$90/kw/month

We can source PSUs for about $76 each for the SP20.

I can give you contact info of a few customers which have done that and send you some pics.

PM me your email and I'll shoot you a sample contract.

Thanks!

Robert

I don't have the funds to prepay $90/kw/month is what I pay to run my miners from home so no point in hosting right now

Posted on litecointalk. A lot of people are against this guy but I think he done the right thing. What do you think ? Website will not be shutted down directly, Chris has some time to respond. If Chris is working on the website and he's legit, he can reply and provide some informations, if not, website will most probably be shutted down. I am more and more convinced that he just moved the website through 2 servers to cover his traces (maybe he didn't use proxy/vpn on previous servers to cover his trace). At beginning, the website was hosted by godaddy, then website was moved to another company, and finally to ovh.

I just sent the following email:

subject:   fraudulent website ltcgear.com

Helo.

My name is ... .

I would like to take legal action against the fraudulent site ltcgear.com

The website is conducting bitcoin related fraud. An estimate of the litecointalk.org comunity users is at least 2 million US dollars.

Please instruct me what steps I need to make in order to receive:
- every information about the owner of the site
- all of the logs of the site's/domain's activity

Best regards, ...

In order to legaly tie Chris to the website, we need statements and info from enom and ovh.ca
I believe the more we request this info, the sooner the said companies will react, so we can go further. If anyone considers fit, pleease send the same message to said companies.

Its stupid to shut down the site so soon that guy is a dumbass and is probably a competitor.  I would like to know how much he has invested in LTCgear I bet it is minimal to nothing.  A month without payouts is long but from a business perspective say a business was not paying its bills you would not shut the business now in a month it would be at least two the three months before creditors would move to freeze accounts.

Now I am on record with my suspicions that LTCGear is a ponzi of some sort but cutting off the SINGLE point of contact and access to the operation is KneeJerk and stupid imo ... if anything we need to gather more information and scrape more of the site if it ever comes back.

Seems Sp 20 prices dropped yet again, another $100 drop per unit and maybe i'll bite  Smiley

sp31 and 35 price drops as well.

They still take way too long to break in in the current market 300 or so days

I bought 2 from the "holiday group buy" for 500$ each, now the mini farm is 1200$ for 3 units ... wish i had waited for that deal. I never made 100$ us by unit in 2 weeks ...

yup I feel the same, It seems the golden rule to roi on hardware these days, is to never buy until several rounds of price drops otherwise you gonna get burn simply  Grin . I feel double burnt since I also bought a unit from their special for Black Friday at 695 plus shipping I believe.

Well that's a shame for Spondoolies-tech in my humble opinion because WE are the customer and we feel we got burnt. Next time, i might not buying from them ...

I didn't make calculations but let's say I made 100$ (which is highly not probable). I lost 100$ just because i didn't wait 2 more weeks. If i would order today, i would get my unit in like 3 days. and i got 3 units instead of 2 for 200$.

Youre kidding right ? If you want any home mining hardware right now SP-TECH has the best priced miners yeah the s5 is out there but right now with the current price adjustment the Sp20 is a better deal.

Prices were bound to go down with this latested drop in BTC otherwise SP-TECH would not be able to move ANY units.  Don't blame SP-TECH blame the econmics of BTC/FIAT fluctuations.

Personally I still wont buy anything other than the 15 peice mini farm but I won;t buy it till it drops to around 4500 other than that I would rather buy BTC which is what I am doing now.

Its better to buy BTC at current prices than buy hardware unless you have sub .08cents power.

My only complains is a huge price drop in a matter of two weeks. You're right since the BTC dropped not much they can do if they want to keep selling. This is still letting me with the same feeling ;-)

I only bought two units ...

I have a sub 0.08 cents power ;-)
If you have sub .08 cents power you should be averanging down on your hardware cost then by buying more units. I pay .11- .12 cents for my power and its bascially
unfeasible for me to keep mining but i still do it at nearly a loss

I have around 7TH that is downclocked now to 5.4 TH and i just about break even.  I won't buy any hardware unless it can pay for itself in 3  - 4 months and currently there is nothing out there that will do that unless BTC jumps back to $350ish with my power costs.

I guarantee you if I had power that cheap I would be buying the 15 pack right now rather than BTC.

Either way, honest or not, Chris will profit. He controls a large % of the hash for LTC, and there's a pretty wide gulf in development/community between that and the other alts. He who controls the hash controls the currency! If he's a crook, maybe he can take that 500k+ BTC, call himself "The Beekeeper," make his top bitch "The Queenbee," and yell "Drones attack!" and "Workers attack!" all day long Tongue

You sir freaking made my day lol with that shit about Drones Attack lol

Serioluly though thanks @jaykePC  for posting this info regardless it is good info to have in case things go south and Chris/Beekeeper does not keep his word.

Quick question: on the SP31's I seem to have issues with the bottom psu's having the orange/red light errors, and half the box stops hashing.

I have over 30 SP units, 30's 31's 35's and only the SP31's seem to do this. and its always the bottom psu...

any suggestions?

30 units ?! wow i would hate to  have your power bill

This post is worth money and tips if you want to give them: go to the bottom of the post.

If you have a spondoolies of any kind your first pool should always be nicehash then westhash. if you are in the Europe  if you are in the usa westhash then nicehash.

use a price password for both like p= 0.0195 then 0.0194

give me a minute to post a screen shot. I am usa based so I use westhash first.  Set it and forget it.   and when you go higher then your setting you make solid bonus numbers.

You are always going to catch a pumped up 256 coin with 0 work.

Spondoolies is great as you can list a ton of pools underneath west and nice hash.

the  antminer is a fail here  You have 3 lines of pools so if you   list west and nice then 1 other pool if price is low  west and nice are skipped  then you have 1 pool without a backup. With sp20's  I have 4 or 5 underneath west and nice pools.

the sp20 looks if westhash will pay .0199----------------current rates are about  0.0109  at  https://www.f2pool.com/help
then it looks if nicehash will pay 0.198 ------------------ note 0.0199 vs 0.0198   makes for easy accounting 1  number less

then it mines at the third choice

skipped west and nice then went on to the third one

From what I understand WestHash and Nicehash are the same , just different regional mirrors that pay the same ?

aslo can you put in a screen shot of your cgminer string with user and password examples ? Seems I'm missing something

Edgar,
You don't follow our thread closely enough ...

Edit: In the first few days, the return was 30X over BTC, afterwards 9X and it settled at about 3X up until the end of the POW period

That about sums it up thanks .

***
However I did not learn about paycoin from this forum .. I regularly read the GAW hash talk forums as well as have a GAW account with Hashtalkers and primes so I knew about paycoin for months.

What I did not know is it would have a 1 week POW phase , and I found that out by luck actually when I wondered why my Westhash payouts were 300% from the previous day.

Curious to find out...

Thanks

Didn't quite turn mine off since they are all three all ROIED but I did underclock them to use 50% power

SP10 or SP3x? I don't see how a SP3x could ROI yet even if you had free electricity and sold at the best times. My SP30 have only paid off around 25% of its value and I was one of the first to get them in the august GB..

To answer the question, I paid for six months hosting so it doesn't make sense to turn them off before that time has expired.

p.s I have never mined BTC directly I alaways point to westhash and if I see a coin is raising the price of hash rentals I turn off westhash and mine the coin directly.  Its the smartest thing to do.  I missed the first two days of paycoin actually I could have made a ton more if I had been paying attention to what westhash was sending me for my rentals that Saturday and sunday.

So I would like to ask.... Who is getting ready or who has turned their miner(s) off yet?  SP30/31/35 specifically?

Curious to find out...

Thanks

I had my sp30 since in the first group buy recived the box around October and it has been mining since.  I paid around 4k for it and also recived a $950 or so coupon for my sp20 so I only paid around $200 for that machine.

I bought another sp20E for $800 or so in mid December to help with home heating.

The sp30 pulled in round $40 a day for October half of nov then in December it dropped down to $15-20 a day  Total BTC as of January.

How did I ROI? : due to the huge gains two days renting hash when paycoin POW launched then finally for the second half of that week mining paycoin directly I made a boatload of BTC that week around $2500 worth of BTC which put me in the green on all my miners.

Yes if not the paycoind deal I would not have ROIED till end of feb but it is what it is.
