4741  Economy / Reputation / Re: KICKICO-KickEx:Legit business or scam in making? on: April 07, 2021, 02:27:13 PM
First, to be clear, I have nothing to do with the Kickico project.
I have no doubts about that, nor I ever thought that.

hey plan to make a profit from traders fee, which is completely legitimate and all exchanges do that. How much referral level they plan to have doesn't really matter. Of course, they will say "get free $5" not "spend $10 on tx's fee to get free $5" or "you will be paid up to xx level of referral, although it will only be dust".
Usually, all promotions and free money are looking for something in return but this is only mentioned at the end. As long as they really pay off with money that came from real income, not taken from investors, this promotion is legal.
I didn't say its illegal, I just said that is pyramid scheme type of referral  as I don't any other  legit exchange that has similar referral system. For me that's a big red flag, to see 10 level referral system as I found them only in scams.

Something completely different is the question of whether it is really worth it. I see on freebitco.in the faucet, usually claim is 1 satoshi. Whether they are fraudsters if advertised "get free Bitcoin..." although we know that it is almost an impossible mission to raise the required amount for withdrawing.
You are forgetting one important thing here; KICKICO sent their worthless useless locked tokens to huge amount of people who never wanted it, nor they ever asked for it. But before they did that, they pumped the token so people think they got something that will have some worth. But in order to get those shitcoin, you have to trade on their exchange. This is pure spam technique, and if you try something like that on bitcointalk forum, you would get banned.

Their marketing technique may be legit/legal, but no decent exchange would so something like that, to attract users by baiting them, sending unsolicited tokens. Well, I personally would never use exchange or any other business that uses that. Its just when I see someone marketing something so aggressively, that's a huge red flag for me.

4742  Economy / Reputation / Re: KICKICO-KickEx:Legit business or scam in making? on: April 07, 2021, 10:51:18 AM
Nope, this is not pyramidal schemes. Just a way of promoting his exchange. They will give you some rewards in exchange for using their platform and if they actually pay the promised reward there is nothing shady. the other thing is that it is a very small amount and the high fee will probably eat all of the earnings.
it certainly doesn't pay to do the whole procedure because of the potential $5 profit.
It is a very dodgy way to promote the exchange! First they pumped that KICKICO shitcoin, they they sent their useless and worthless locked tokens to hundreds of thousands of ETH wallets without people actually asking for them or doing anything, just basically "showing them down their throat". Those tokens were in wallet, showing that they are worth something, while in reality you couldn't do anything with them.

Maybe they are not pyramid scheme in strict sense, but they certainly used pyramid scheme marketing techniques. I mean, I don't know about any legit exchange that has referral system with 10 levels of depth. Whats even more dodgy is how they presented the possibilities of passive income via referral system.

No wonder that current price is around ~1 satoshi and even that is too much for this shitcoin. I wonder if anyone managed to successfully unlock those 888,888 airdropped tokens.
4743  Economy / Reputation / Re: Bitcointalk and Reddit accounts Seller on: April 07, 2021, 06:12:35 AM
Okay now I get it, so basically this Reddit karma is an Internet points that will help you become more prominent in the platform and like any other platform that has clout, you can use Reddit as a type of advertising for stuffs like almost anything, now I know the reason why some people are being ridiculed for farming Reddit Karma. Am I getting it right?
They won't necessarily be more prominent when they get more karma as goal is to unlock access to some subredits and to remove some account restrictions but with the rest you are right; as with any other platform, it can be used (and is used) to advertise business.

But as i said before, it's tricky to advertise there as spam content is removed fast, and even if it stays, other users can downote. Since reddit is very popular, I guess they try anyway.

4744  Economy / Speculation / Re: Altcoins pumping like crazy - is the BTC Bullcycle ending? on: April 06, 2021, 09:02:43 PM
According to Altcoin Season Index, it does seem like altcoin season indeed started. By their definitopn, altcoin season started if  "75% of the Top 50 coins performed better than Bitcoin over the last season (90 days) it is Altcoin Season." It looks like that we are at the top of altcoin season, and that we might experience altcoin correction soon.

Here are few graphics from the website that might explain in better

@OP To answer your question whether BTC Bullcycle is ending, I really don't think so. This is just a temporary situation while btc is going sideways, but soon enough we can expect BTC continuing its way towards 70k.

4745  Economy / Reputation / Re: Bitcointalk and Reddit accounts Seller on: April 06, 2021, 10:23:34 AM
I understand the reason why they are selling the Bitcointalk account, but the Reddit account? I don't get how it is profitable for someone to buy the Reddit account since I don't see any means to make money in Reddit, I don't frequent in that message board so I don't know if there is one.
Because in order to post in more popular subreddits, your account has to have certain amount of post karma, and in some cases they even ask you that your account is aged etc. So if you want to advertise your business/scam in some of them, of course it will look much better if you are using seasoned account that has been around for quite some time.

In my opinion, those advertising crap on reddit and even buying an account to do so are wasting their time and money, because from my experience there, reddit is very strict when it comes to that and delete the content regularly.
4746  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: CryptoSwap.Finance--Plagiarism whitepaper on: April 06, 2021, 07:01:35 AM
Could it be the whitepaper writer made this plagiarism mistake? Cause sometimes some writers just copy and paste from successful projects. Though I expected they should have run it on copyscape before publishing this on their site.
That's exactly an excuse that these people use, "it was an honest mistake sir, our whitepaper writer copy/pasted by mistake, somwhow huge chunks of someone els'es material ended up in our whitepaper" , or even better one "company we hired to write our whitepaper tricked us, it's their fault and not ours". So no, in cases like this it ain't mistake for sure.

People do plagiarize due few different reasons though; some do it simply because they are ignorant, and for some reason they think that it's perfectly fine to copy parts of texts without proper referencing even if its just some technical part of whitepaper. Majority fall into those that are perfectly aware of what they are doing, but what they are not aware of is the bitcointalk's stance on plagiarism  so they end up like this, tagged and flagged.

In some extremely rare cases I could believe that someone made an honest mistake, for example if everything in whitepaper is properly referenced, but for some reason reference or two was forgotten to be included. I have yet to come across such case though, usually it's just a good old fashioned intentional plagiarism.

Unfortunately some investors and bounty hunters will fall for this.
To be honest, majority of bounty hunters couldn't care less whether this is a scam or not. If CryptoSwap.Finance started bounty campaign today, bunch of them would join without thinking twice, even if they saw thread started being tagged for scam.
4747  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: April 05, 2021, 09:13:09 PM
Thanks rikafip, although we can still find deleted post but it doesn't seem good to count deleted post to show in the chart. I will probably update the chart in my thread soon. I also decided to use the merit dashboard to get the monthly local Indonesian board posting from now.
Well, those deleted posts ain't there anymore at the time i am making these overview so it would be  wrong to include them into statistic, as simple as that. Thing is, some boards are affected with this more than the others. For example, Croatian local board doesn't have much spam/nuked users so our numbers are usually similar in both of those tools, unless there is something going on, like threads being moved around, which can cause the issue for some reason.

4748  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: OSCARS 2021- Nominees, Odds and Predictions! on: April 05, 2021, 08:43:40 PM
The Academy Awards have been more than just about movies since their inception. Actors and filmmakers have a long tradition of taking action and speaking out about what they believe is right at the ceremony. And they have no plans to abandon the tradition anytime soon.
Yep. So pretty much pointless wasting the time about that subject as they do what they do. Sometimes they will vote based on whatever agenda they are pushing on at the moment, sometimes because studio spent shit load of money on lobbying and sometimes truly the best performance (or at least good enough that people won't complain too much) will win the Oscar.

Don't know much about the others, but it now looks confirmed that Chadwick Boseman will be selected as the best actor. I don't have any issues with  posthumous nominations for Oscar, but I believe that the rules should be same for everyone. Heath Ledger never got the nomination, despite the fact that he deserved it in 2009. He was instead given the "best supporting actor" award.
As a matter of fact, Heath Ledger was nominated in "Best Performance by an Actor in a Leading Role" category back in 2006 for his role in Brokeback Mountain (if it was up to me I would have give him Oscar, but competition that years was tough, and it would be unfair to say that Philip Seymour Hoffman winning that Oscar was undeserving). Regarding his Oscar for "Best Supporting Actor", it wouldn't make much sense to nominate him for the Leading Role as he simply wasn't a lead role in The Dark Knight.

And yeah, Chadwick Boseman will probably win an Oscar, but in my mind I have no doubt who actually deserved it, and that is Anthony Hopkins.

4749  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin and crypto are Same like casino slots on: April 05, 2021, 08:23:57 PM
You keep creating threads like this, in which you compare bitcoin to slot machines, and claiming that's probably the same people invented both and other nonsense, and then you come to Meta and wondering "how you can't get along here". Do you even think before creating threads like this, or you write whatever pops in your head, no matter how nonsensical it sounds?
4750  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: [WARNING] Fake Roobet site. Watch out !!! on: April 05, 2021, 05:23:45 PM
Are you sure that they are pretending to be Roobet casino? I am asking because their website looks completely different from theirs, and it doesn't make much sense to pretend to be something else if you don't copy the look too.

Code:
https://www.roobet.games

When i tried to open that link, it only show me a registration link (i haven't tried to click that)
Weird,  when I clicked on that link, I didn't get any registration link, nor could I find one one their website.

4751  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: April 05, 2021, 11:59:00 AM
Hi rikafip, the number of Indonesian local board post recorded on the merit dashboard is less than that recorded on ninjastic.space. I would like to know which one is more accurate to display on the chart ?
If the data in the merit dashboard is more accurate than ninjastic.space then I'll update my thread with data that might appear to be in sync with your thread.
I had the same dilemma few months ago when I started using ninjastic space and I also noticed the difference in numbers compared to merit dashboard. Thing with ninjastic.space (that I didn't know but Ddmr Ddmr explained it to me) is that is also counting all those posts that were for some reason deleted from the board, and that's why number is usually inflated compared to numbers found in merit dashboard. For example, if you had some spammer who wrote 20 posts in Indonesian board during March, and his account got nuked and all posts deleted, his posts will still be counted even though they are not there anymore.

With that being said, numbers on merit dashboard can also be wrong in case that mod deletes/moves threads around, but I decided to stick to merit dashboard numbers in the end as it doesn't seem right to count spam posts that have been deleted for days or even weeks.
4752  Other / Meta / Re: [CHARTS] Brief monthly overview of the local boards activity on: April 05, 2021, 09:33:37 AM
New month, new monthly overview of the local boards activity.

All charts were made thanks to data provided by @DdmrDdmr and his Merit Dashboard.

Post activity per local board during March 2021

Despite the ongoing bull run, overall local board activity has  decreased slightly ( ~10%) compared to February. I haven't checked the numbers, but I have a feeling that situation ain't any better in other parts of forum either.

Once again Turkish board has been the most active one but this time German local board took the 2nd spot ahead of Russian who was regularly the most active board up until recently. Decrease in Russian board might be caused by high amount of deleted posts, rather than decreased overall activity. majoruty of other boards remained on pretty much the same level as in February, but some like Portuguese had big increase, by almost 50%!

Another curiosity is that for the first time since I am making this overview, Chinese local board ended up with the positive post count!

Merit shared per local board during March 2021

Decrease in posting activity has been followed by a decrease in merit shared, and with the similar decrease too (again ~10%). While most of boards had relatively similar amount of merit shares like during February, two local boards stood out; Indonesian local board increased merit shared by ~60%, while German had the complete opposite, and are down by ~40%! I do hope that's just a temporary decrease.

Merit senders/receivers per local board during March 2021

Self explanatory, as always

Merit/Post ratio per local board for March 2021

No big changes here as post number decrease was followed by a merit decrease, with standard names at the top. As expected, few boards had decreased ratio like German, French and Portuguese (their ratio decrease is connected to rise in post count), while few like Russian and Indonesian had a nice increase. At the bottom we have already standard local boards, whose situation won't change until they get more merit sources, but as we can see, that's not likely to happen in the future.

The most active members during March 2021 per local board

Numbers are taken from https://ninjastic.space/ made by @TryNinja

Quite a few people in this thread have missed a key point about the Acadamy Awards (Oscars) in that it has become a very topical platform for political statements to be made.  Look to the winners of the recent Emmy Awards and you will see strong voter preferences for performances in very relevant to today stories.

The Oscars will be no different.
That's nothing new really, that Oscar has been used by both actors and Academy for political statements. From Marlon Brando and his refusal to pick up Oscar given for his role in The Godfather due portrayal of Native Americans in the movies, 2004 when Crash won the Oscar (undeservingly ) and up until now. So in my opinion, no much point wasting time on that.

I've updated the first post with odds of  ten categories that were missing them initially
4755  Other / Meta / Re: Bitcointalk Token on: April 04, 2021, 08:02:04 AM
"Forum" doesn't have to do anything. After all, bitcointalk already has its coin.

Regarding that part about having to buy bitcointalk tokens in order to run bounty/airdrop. if theymos really wants to monetize that too, he can simply charge that in BTC, no need to make another currency. I really don't get this obsession to make token for every single thing there is..
4756  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Prvi april - Bitcointalk NFT on: April 03, 2021, 06:26:46 PM

4757  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: I hope I'm welcome here... I'm Newbie on: April 03, 2021, 09:23:05 AM
First of all, welcome to bitcointalk. If you are truly interested in bitcoin, this is the place to be!

What I would suggest you to is to check pinned messages in Beginners & Help section to get yourself properly familiar with all bitcointalk rules ( pay attention to plagiarism which many newbies ignore, usually due complete ignorance). Don't rush and take your time to figure out how things work on forum, as it can be overwhelming for a complete beginner, especially if you don't have experience on other forums.
4758  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: You need discipline to be successful in trade on: April 03, 2021, 08:00:50 AM
Any gambler who "regularly" wins at a casino is cheating. Period.
I thought so too, before I started working in one. I also thought that casinos are cheating people out of their money, while in reality its all about psychology and greed. At least in those few that I worked in.

All casino games are set up in a way, such that, over the long run, the gambler will lose. This has nothing to do with being "disciplined", it has to do with the fact that slot machines are designed to payout less than $1 for every $1 gambled over the long run.
I know all about RTPs, no worries. The brick&mortar casinos I worked in usually had it around 90%(iirc on the yearly basis ) but there were months when certain slot machines were in the red. It is very unlikely for someone to be in positive due that, but that's why i said that in 6-7 years of working there I only came across one player who managed to constantly get out with the money. Sure, there were days when he lost his set amount, but he never put in extra. And he also always left the casino if he won certain amount of money, and absolutely never started gambling "stronger". He also had bunch of other rules, which he followed without exception.
4759  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: You need discipline to be successful in trade on: April 03, 2021, 07:10:52 AM
Exactly. The more important thing to have is experience and the skills to trade. Otherwise without the experience the "discipline" would translate into bag holding and eventual loss. The 2018 to 2020 is an excellent example of people with discipline but no experience in the altcoin market. There are hundreds of topics in the altcoin board talking about how they have to be "patient" and not sell. Now they are all in huge losses.
Being "disciplined" doesn't equal to being "patient". Being disciplined means obeying your own set of rules and sticking to it, no matter how you feel that way, and no matter how hard it is sometimes. In the terms of trading, I guess it would mean having your own set of rules when trading, not fomoing and doing anything outside of that, like blindly hodling altcoins and not cutting the loss. That's why the usually have stop loss set.

For example, professional gamblers also have that, extreme level of discipline. I worked for years in casino, and I am sure of only one guy who was regularly taking the money out of casino. He only played slot machines and he had strict rules that he followed no matter how much he won, with set limit of money he afford to loose every day. The only reason he didn't get banned from there is that he was not gambling big. But he was happy taking every month few hundreds of dollars.

All this of course is much easier said than done, and that's why there are so few pro traders.
4760  Other / Meta / Re: [Brief Analytics] Bitcointalk.org (March 2021) on: April 02, 2021, 09:38:07 PM
I don't know how you get or do the brief analytics of this forum but the data provided by you seems to be lying. According to the estimation of all visitors to this forum in the past 30 days provided by Alexa site, the US has the highest number of visitors with 15.8% below are the information.
He clearly mentioned from where he got the numbers. By the way, why do you think that Alexa is any more accurate and better than than the sources he used as I often heard (from people that know more about subject than me) that similar web is more accurate than Alexa

All those method are wrong to some degree and as @DdmrDdmr said only theymos knows the real numbers.
