4741  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: protection mechanics for preventing faking bitcoin on: September 20, 2021, 03:08:44 PM
Everything is verified, recorded, and stored in the blockchain. The only thing you can do to prevent receiving "fake bitcoins" is to wait for confirmations before calling the transaction done. That's all you need to do, and the technical part would be handled by the nodes that pick-up and relay the transaction, and the miners which confirms the transaction by solving complex algorithms that require tons of hashing power and resources.

Transactions with 0 confirmations in the network are susceptible to 'double-spending' which, in essence, also feels like 'fake' bitcoins as the receiver of the said transaction will not receive anything even though the transaction appears in the blockchain. Just make sure that you are using wallets that are compatible with the bitcoin network and you're good to go.
4742  Local / Pamilihan / Re: Coins.ph requiring account statement from cryptocurrency trading & cash-out bank on: September 20, 2021, 01:57:33 PM
Yup, nakareceive din ng ganito yung kaibigan ko lately. At sa ngayon, the only way para maiwasan natin yung pagsasubmit ng mga ganitong info e to just use Binance P2P at straight sa banks or sa Gcash, then the money will go from there.
4743  Local / Pamilihan / Coins.ph new policy? on: September 19, 2021, 04:49:25 PM

What are your thoughts mga kabayan?

4744  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Underage gambling is an epidemic on: September 18, 2021, 12:59:41 PM
You cannot prevent it if the parents themselves cannot control or limit the activities of their children. Children are very smart in this day and age, and if they get their hands on something that they really want, they will do everything to learn things related to it and bypass some restrictions. We don't need KYCs and stricter verification rules. We need their parents to be vigilant and take action on their children's activities
4745  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Your thoughts On the crypto trading simulator? on: September 18, 2021, 12:21:43 PM
This is actually a good training ground for those who want to try crypto trading without thinking of the risks associated with it. They can try to make decisions based on what others predictions are, or decisions based on what they think is the best move possible at a given moment before they decide to take it and close it. I know there are some brokers of stocks that do this on their own platform, but haven’t heard much for crypto counterparts. It’s a good sandbox environment to make mistakes and learn from the said mistakes without having to worry about losing money.
4746  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Marketplace (Altcoins) / Re: Booming gaming platforms, is it just a moment? on: September 18, 2021, 11:46:52 AM
Almost every new generation of people being born are exposed to video games, that’s why the video gaming industry will just continue to grow from here. Add to that the NFT games which give its players the chance to earn through just playing the game with a small investment. You can say that it is, in essence, gambling, but I beg to differ. People are already spending almost a hundred dollars for AAA titles on games, without any possible return on investment. On NFT games, they could get their initial investment and profit on top of that.

Gaming platforms, and video games in general, will continue to boom on years to come.
4747  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto Should be in Syllabus of Students? on: September 18, 2021, 11:13:57 AM
Perhaps it could be included in university courses and not on lower years because I feel that it isn’t apt to include it on the curriculum of students that are still trying to find out what kind of person they want to be in the future. They can include simple economics subjects, like to make them understand the value of money, what happens with it, and what things they can do at a young age in order to ready themselves in the future.

Heck, most of the lesson on the latter years of middle school should be about preparing the young ones on the things that they should know (401ks, filing taxes, getting driver’s license, etc.) one they set off to the world on their own.
4748  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: UK customers can now buy Bitcoin through Paypal on: September 18, 2021, 10:21:23 AM
It’s a great development, though Paypal in the UK still doesn’t allow its users to withdraw crypto out to their own personal crypto wallets. While this may allow more and more people to get a taste of crypto trading, letting them withdraw is another experience that people should have. I know that it’s already in the works, and that might mean yet another push for cryptocurrencies since Paypal needs to acquire crypto in order to fund user accounts for crypto withdrawals to be possible.
4749  Economy / Economics / Re: How would Bitconia look like? on: September 18, 2021, 04:23:14 AM
Bitcoin doesn't need a country in order to be legitimized and acknowledged by other people. It is already doing good for itself and is also being utilized widely for transferring value across all borders. While the idea of a country centered on bitcoin is great, I don't think it is necessary to further bitcoin's stance as a currency or as an important asset. Also, the legalities, the documents, the treaties, and other legal stuff that will get along the way would be tiresome and long as well.
4750  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: The greedy must be poor on: September 17, 2021, 10:13:20 PM
Or they think they simply know better and overestimated their calculations, hence why they don't take profits early and believe that they can still do better than what they currently can. I was guilty of this, and I have been forced to hold bags a number of times already because I refused to believe that the coins that I'm holding wouldn't meet my expectations and the predictions of other experienced traders which I follow. I simply just held until I get the money that I invested and get out of the market and never look back. Good thing I do have the patience to wait until I breakeven, but some people just can't, and will always be forced to sell at a loss.
4751  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Dollar supporters destroy Bitcoin ATM in El Salvador on: September 17, 2021, 09:35:59 PM
There has to be someone funding these anti-bitcoin protests. Like, how thick can people be? They don't want to use bitcoin, that's fine and all, but why destroy things that are created to help people out? The people of El Salvador aren't forced to use bitcoin, only that bitcoin is legally recognized and can be used on the country without any problem. If they want to contest the ruling, do it on the court of law, or perhaps try and ask some lawmakers to voice their opinions out.

This is not the right way to make noise if the anti-bitcoin people want to be heard. They're just making a negative case for themselves that won't help further their agenda.
4752  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: US to make Bitcoin use a FELONY unless report sender's social security number on: September 17, 2021, 08:57:32 PM
They are trying so hard to bar people from entering the cryptospace, and leaving their dear fiat in the dust. Such a bill would only force people to find ways and avoid the repercussions as hard as they could rather than do this crazy stuff that the lawmakers are trying to impose. The more they restrict people into doing something, the more the people try hard and get what they want. The US should be the ones leading the charge towards innovation and crypto development but no, they just want to lag behind other countries and focus on other mundane things that will just make things hard for their people.
4753  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Economists say each BTC transaction causes 272g of waste on: September 17, 2021, 08:33:42 PM
It's amazing how such institutions will come up with a different narrative every time their previous spin-offs were discredited by facts and facts alone. We're looking at data and study made by financial institutions that are trying to bring down bitcoin and crypto, and of course, the bias will always shift in their favor.

I'd love to know how would they equate in iPhone 12 minis the waste produced by other industries that have far too low of an impact in the economy, or those sectors that add nothing of value to society yet they cannot do shit about because they have vested interests on it.
4754  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin is like a losing lottery ticket on: September 17, 2021, 07:47:44 PM
Your comparison is just off, I should say. If bitcoin is like a lottery ticket to which a lot already bet on, the people have already defeated the house and won against the lottery. If bitcoin is a lottery ticket, it is damn hell of a rigged one--in favor of the people at that, and I'd bet my cash there in a heartbeat.

Also, stocks of a bankrupt company? Who would, in their sane mind, even want to acquire stocks of a bankrupt company anyway? If your definition of bankrupt is hundreds of billions of $ in market capitalization, then you have a few screws loose in your head.
4755  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Best time to play online slots on: September 17, 2021, 06:59:36 PM
I only play on weekends or whenever I have the time. This way I can focus on playing and entertaining myself rather than think of any other things when I play. Slots is quite a fascinating game and can get you preoccupied for hours without you realizing it. While the gist of the game is extremely simple, that anticipation of hitting the jackpot still gets you. And there's no better time to feel that rush except for when you don't have plans for the day or it is your time for relaxation.

I never chase bonuses when I play. I'm just there to have a good time, and I'm getting it with or without bonuses that the platform is offering.
4756  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Did you profit from the dip on: September 17, 2021, 06:13:26 PM
I guess the dip is already over. It's time for holders to smile back at their wallets BTC is approaching $49k+. It's just a clear indication that patience pays. We should be expecting a full recovery of bitcoin before the end of the week.

Solana actually dumped but not with much price difference I think it fell from $162 to $150 and it's finding a way to rally back up. Many other coins we're also affcted. Hopefully the crypto market is gradually facing a rally up to meet back it's previous ALTs

The dip already sorted itself up I suppose, and luckily I was able to buy some alts and some BTCs before it started climbing back up again. Was lucky to buy @ $44k for bitcoin and am keeping some of it ever since. ETH was also a good buy too just a few days ago though I was already short in funds. If only I had more money, I would have bought ETH in a heartbeat at $3200 and forget about it for a few months time. Welp, you can't really win them all, but I'm still glad that small dip happened and I had some extra cash to use.
4757  Economy / Economics / Re: MassMutual Fined in GameStop Fallout on: September 17, 2021, 05:31:48 PM
Imagine having lots of evidence to pin the organization down and ask for more settlement fees but instead, you settled with a mediocre amount and pinned down another person which clearly has little fault on what had transpired. I feel bad for Keith Gill for being blamed for most of what happened on the GameStop fiasco albeit having only little participation, though he has, at some point, made mistakes by not declaring that he is personally trading stocks while being employed at a broker.

It's such a cop out that any person or company is allowed to "settle an investigation without admitting wrongdoing". If the legal system feels it has enough evidence to convict these people then it should be forced to fully play out in court or the case should be dropped entirely on the assumption of innocent. You see that phrase far too often now and it makes a farce of the judicial system, showing that if you have enough money then the laws are flexible in your favor. I don't have any sympathy for these people who were hyping up the stock for their own financial gains nor the short traders who wanted to crush this company, but a lot of naive people got caught up in this mess without fully understanding how much money they could lose.

Justice and everything works for you so long as you have a big fat stash of cash at your disposal. They're worth billions, and that alone is enough for justice to work for them.
4758  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Liberalization of cryptocurrency in Ukraine - attractiveness for Gambling ?! on: September 17, 2021, 04:31:21 PM
There's really no problem for me at all, for as long as the platform that I'm using is duly registered and not involved in shady dealings and whatnot. Most of the time, gamblers only look for reliable providers/platforms and those that aren't shady before they start placing bets. Be it registered in Malta, Ukraine, the US, or anywhere, if the platform is honest enough, registered, offers good bonuses and has provably-fair games, I don't see people having any problems with it.
4759  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Great Thing is about Bitcoin on: September 16, 2021, 11:02:40 PM
This, IMO, applies only to those who bought earlier and those who have the $$$ to buy bitcoin. If you don't have the money to buy it, you won't have anything to keep and probably nothing to save for the future. Also, no one knew for sure what was going to happen with bitcoin. Let's face it, most of us doubted bitcoin when the price is crashing and for months, the volumes are declining on most exchanges. Most hands are ready to sell save for those who had the money to bear more losses.

While true that bitcoin opens up opportunities, it is not a free one, and you have to really believe in bitcoin for it to pay off.
4760  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Game of legends on: September 16, 2021, 08:30:25 PM
I wouldn't be surprised to be honest. Golf is a game for rich folks, and they can certainly afford to bet properties, cars, or millions of dollars in cash in one go. If you were able to play golf on a club that they also play in, this only means that you are living the high life, or at least above average for most people. You would know that these crazy bets occur quite commonly, which is why it is somewhat common to see a rich person go broke in just a few years due to extravagant and crazy bets and losing it all.
