4741  Other / Meta / Re: Can we have another section for BitcoinCash? on: August 03, 2017, 07:50:52 AM
Like it or not...BitcoinCash (BCH) is here to stay

How do you know it's here to stay as its only been a few days? It could be next to worthless a few months from now.

I know there can be a space for another altcoin in the crypto-verse. Can we then have a separate section dedicated to BitcoinCash? Or have we already got one? Please tell me.

Yes,  it's in the Alt Coin section with all the other coins.
4742  Other / Meta / Re: Should Signature Campaigns be moved to their own sub-boards? on: August 03, 2017, 07:46:35 AM
I would be for it just as long as there was some sort of fee charged to be able to make a thread in there. If we don't do it with the bitcoin paying campaigns then it should at least be done with alts because they literally get away with free advertising when they pay out in the premined crapcoin and the spam from their campaigns alone likely makes up 95% of the issues here which staff are left to clean up and essentially run their campaigns for them.
4743  Other / Meta / Re: Get Donator status by donating 10 BTC on: August 03, 2017, 07:38:57 AM

For the record, I already have asked theymos about changing the amount to achieve Donator and VIP status. His explanation was quite brief: changing it into something smaller than what it is could be grounds for services and people to abuse the system to scam.

Do you have the actual quote of this? Was he talking about the current Donator/VIP ranks or new additional ones? I don't think that just because somebody might take advantage of them to scam is a good enough reason. People can already buy accounts here to do that or use their already Hero/Legendary status to try pull off a scam anyway. In fact, you could probably argue that people who donate to the forum will be less likely to scam because they have money invested in their account.
4744  Other / Meta / Re: Altcoin ANN Posting Fee on: August 03, 2017, 07:21:06 AM
New idea: charge a fee of 1 BTC for every new ANN in the altcoin announcements.

This would drastically reduce the amount of low-quality projects / scams posted.

Not every Altcoin ANN poster has 1+ BTC to just throw into making an ANN...

What is your point here exactly? If they don't have or can't muster up the fee to post here then it just shows you how much faith they have in their product. If they were serious about listing it here then they would have no issue getting the funds together but for those fly by night scammers who just want to quickly throw their crappy idea out there and see if they get lucky it'll make them think twice.

I would agree this idea also because after that there would be less amount of scam coins and ico's thread but also there is another problem. This forum is free service, if wedo that, then another bitcoin forum will try to get opportunity by mentioning that such service is free on their forum.

There are already several other similar forums people could advertise on but they don't have anywhere near the userbase this one does so it would be futile even listing them there. People announce their coins here because it's the best way to do so and there's a huge userbase that will happily advertise here for you via signature campaigns, but running a signature campaign on forum with hardly any users would be equally as worthless.
4745  Other / Meta / Re: Altcoin ANN Posting Fee on: August 02, 2017, 02:34:32 PM
Why would people assume that? Why would people not already assume the forum approves them if they're posted here?
It's more like "support" than "approves." The forum would be held accountable since the forum "supports" this project with the fee that they paid which can be assumed as "agreement."

I still don't see the logic how the forum would be supporting them. You pay a fee to post not gain support. You can already buy ad slots here but there's a disclaimer under each of them saying the forum doesn't support them and they could be scams and this would be no different.

I think paying some sort of fee is a good idea because most of these get rich quick schemesters/scammers only bother to make their crap coins because it costs absolutely nothing to them and then they even get free advertising with legions of shitposters. If they actually had to pay something I bet many wouldn't bother.
It won't stop them. Let's say there is a project made to scam others then in order for them to post it here then they pay 1 bitcoin then proceed. People would start investing then they can just run considering that they acquire more bitcoins which is far more greater than 1 bitcoin. Hence, even if the 1 bitcoin fee is implemented then there will be not much of a chang but rather for the forum's administration to get richer.

It won't stop them completely but it'll stop all the broke fly by night scammers who have nothing to lose. At the moment anyone can create a crapcoin ico and pay an army of shills  to promote it all for free with a premined coin but if you had to pay then a lot wouldn't even bother. I'm really not sure why we even allow them to advertise here for free especially when probably 95+% of the spam and moderation is caused by them.
4746  Other / Meta / Re: Get Donator status by donating 10 BTC on: August 02, 2017, 02:25:14 PM

I understand that it should be respected for the people that donated these amounts back in their day and even Claymore semi-recently earning Donator status for his 10 BTC Donation but IMO these ranks and price points should be retired for something more palatable and reasonable.

As others have suggested, I will also suggest, perhaps it's time to create a new donator structure that is based off of the fiat dollar amount at the time of the donation so the "NEW" VIP could be something reasonable?

I would also go further to suggest that maybe there are different tiers of donation titles or something as has been done on other message boards. I know this is isn't something that can not be done overnight and it takes a lot of thought/work to implement.

Thanks for the consideration.

More donator ranks with additional perks has been suggested by a few users myself included. I even suggested we remove signatures from ranks entirely to stop account farming and then you can only get one through donation. Pegging them to fiat was also recommend.
4747  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Loans = Reputation | Thoughts? on: August 02, 2017, 07:16:02 AM
Thank you all guys for sharing your thoughts, and i really respect your opinions, but i guess most of you guys have misunderstood my concept of saying "Trust" or "Reputation". By getting trust or reputation i did not mean positive feedback or trust rating, but i simply was asking if will that earn me some respect.

Why does it matter whether you're getting feedback or just their respect? Your goal still seems to be the same and that is to become trusted or vouched which still seems to me like you're trying to buy it regardless of feedback (and I'm sure if you did actually make these loans you would have wanted/expected or asked for feedback to be left). If you want trust or respect then just earn it naturally over time like anyone else does but seeking it out just because is the wrong way to go about and makes you look the opposite of trustworthy to me.
4748  Other / Meta / Re: Altcoin ANN Posting Fee on: August 02, 2017, 07:05:43 AM
This is something I've previously suggested before. They should also have to pay a fee to run a signature campaign seeing as 9/10 of them do nothing about spam and mods are left to clean up the mess for them.

New idea: charge a fee of 1 BTC for every new ANN in the altcoin announcements.

This would drastically reduce the amount of low-quality projects / scams posted.

If this is indeed implemented, people might start assuming that coins posted in the altcoin announcement board have the forum's approval.
That could be dangerous!

Why would people assume that? Why would people not already assume the forum approves them if they're posted here? I think paying some sort of fee is a good idea because most of these get rich quick schemesters/scammers only bother to make their crap coins because it costs absolutely nothing to them and then they even get free advertising with legions of shitposters. If they actually had to pay something I bet many wouldn't bother.

Hmm. Maybe he's confusing his campaign manager as a moderator.
4750  Other / Meta / Re: Activity & new membergroup limits on: August 01, 2017, 03:21:17 PM
Just a quick question. I had 42 posts, and my 43rd got moderated for off-topic. Now I have 45 posts a couple of days later, but activity remains at 42. Will it ever increase?

Yes. If that was the only post you made in that activity period then those particular activity points are gone forever, but you can get another 14 in the next period and so on.
4751  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Ledger Nano S or Trezor? Why? on: August 01, 2017, 02:38:22 PM
I've had a Nano s for quite some time but not used it much and I also just got a Trezor recently but I don't think they're anything special. Trezor actually seems very cheap and flimsy and I've got a feeling it's only a matter of time before it cracks or breaks and that would be much more likely if you're taking it around any where. The Ledger is much more robust and will almost certainly last a lot longer.

Trezor 2 is not expected until the end of this year. I use both. I probably use Trezor more than Nano S because I can use it with one hand, while the Nano S takes two.

I find it's much easier and quicker to put the pin in though compared to the Trezor.
4752  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Withdrawing from Coinbase to UK bank account? on: August 01, 2017, 02:25:56 PM
There's finally a withdraw button on my Euro wallet but not my GBP one but even when I click withdraw on the Euro one it still says "Please add a bank account...". Really not going to try adding another so will have to wait for a response from support but I've got a feeling I wont even get one. There still doesn't seem to be any way to transfer funds from my GBP wallet to the Euro one either.

Anyone know any exchanges that aren't a piece of shit? Might just sack them all off an sell my coins for cash because it's much cheaper and far less hassle but still need to get my money off Coinbase.
4753  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Kraken.com Slow Due To August 1?? on: August 01, 2017, 02:17:41 PM
Site isn't down and  the price tickers keep updating but I can't log in as there's a 503  Service Unavailable The requested service is currently unavailable error.

I doubt it's a DDOS attack and just because everyone is panicking/getting excited about what is going to happen with the price. You should have put your orders in already to avoid this though.
Orders? You mean choosing a price that the computer will buy for you automatically when it reaches said price on Kraken? I didn't know you could do that haha

What do you mean? Isn't that exactly what it's meant to be for?
4754  Other / Meta / Re: Signature space as Initial Distribution Method on: August 01, 2017, 02:05:04 PM
Assuming he's being serious and can make it work, at the end of the day it's still seems like just another signature campaign that people get paid to post here for so I can't see why it wouldn't be 'legal'.
4755  Other / Meta / Re: Signature space as Initial Distribution Method on: August 01, 2017, 01:49:34 PM
Why wouldn't it be allowed? Unless I've missed something there's not much difference between this and every other crapcoin signature campaign.
4756  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Loans = Reputation | Thoughts? on: August 01, 2017, 01:46:55 PM
Hello everyone.
I was just wondering, if is it a good idea to give away small amount of loans to trusted forum members to get some reputation?
I mean, what if i open a service which would allow senior or trusted forum members to take loans from me (around 0.02btc each, considering my current budget) if they need. Will that make a good impression on people for me or not? Will i get some trust or reputation by doing this?
Your thoughts? or, suggestions?

Don't be stupid. You're basically just trying to cheaply buy feedback by lending to people who you know are both trusted and will leave you feedback. This is the exact opposite of being trustworthy or reputable as you're doing it for the sole reason to gain positive feedback and appear like you have some trades behind you when in fact they're utterly meaningless.

Which moderator are you referring to? What are the accounts in question?

I think he's referring to the 3 day bans theymos gave out for participating in alt giveaways and he mistakenly believes the ban was for using multiple accounts or 'cheating' giveaways.
4759  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Withdrawing from Coinbase to UK bank account? on: July 31, 2017, 02:08:46 PM
From what I understood you need to send the gbp wallet balance to the euro wallet balance.

So does anyone know how to do this? There doesn't seem to be any option to transfer between accounts. I sent in another bank transfer from a different account to verify it on the 28th and still nothing.
4760  Other / Meta / Re: Forum ranks/positions/badges (What do those shiny coins under my name mean?) on: July 31, 2017, 01:07:43 PM
Nothing will happen to it. You just won't be able to get another 14 activity but you may need less posts to get to it in the new period. If you had 100 posts you would only need one post in the new period to get the full 14.
