4761  Other / Meta / Re: Most of our moderators are inactive on: July 15, 2018, 09:09:07 AM
It must be difficult for Theymos. There is a lot of turmoil in the world, and Bitcoin and cryptos are right in the centre of it. Mods have lives outside the forum, and they must have a lot of coflicts resulting from family and political issues. I haven't been as active as I should have been as a meit source, and this is partly due to May's Brexit fraud, and the visit of Donal Trump. I'm an outspoken Trump supporter, and I come under attack quite a bit from the politicalli naive.

It is obvious that many areas of the forum are causing the overloading of mods, and it is for this reason that I have suggested that some automatic restrictions are imposed on boards and new posters. The only alternative is to appoint a couple of hatchet men to clean up the boards, and that will cause a massive rise in complaints.
4762  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Thanks to all of you who are visiting Fit to Talk English on: July 14, 2018, 06:22:51 PM
We are driven by the international members who want to improve their English posting skills in the Bitcoin Talk forum. Behaviour is more important that ethnicity, sex or language skills. At a personal level, I respect Putin for his diplomacy, and his desire to improve the quality of healthy food. I'd be interested in promoting discussions about the use of Bitcoin in Russia here on Bitcoin Talk.
4763  Other / Meta / Re: The Bitcointalk community must take responsibility concerning scam ICO on: July 14, 2018, 05:50:11 PM
At a very minimum, they could be kept off the beginners and discussion boards.
4764  Other / Beginners & Help / Thanks to all of you who are visiting Fit to Talk English on: July 14, 2018, 05:46:13 PM
As you know, I started a project to help members to improve their English posting skills, and I am pleased to see that we have just beaten our all time viewing record. It's still pretty modest, but the slow growth is encouraging. I started a board for members from the Philippines, and it looks as if that may have some potential.

I've also been asked about the Ivory Tower translation project, and that is still active, but not receiving any submissions. Don't forget that if your quality post in one of the local language boards is translated, and it is good enough to be quoted in the Ivory Tower, you are guaranteed a minimum of five merit points for it.

Seems pretty awesome. Can you provide me the link? I haven't heard of it...

I've sent you a pm with an access code, but it's really a bit early for that.

I can remember getting into trouble for putting "LAMP" in my profile, where LAMP stood for " Legendary Awaiting Merit Points". Well now I am a LUMP - Legendary Upranked by Merit Points. Smiley

I considered referring to myself as a LIMP - Legendary Inflated by Merit Points, but I decided thar was a bit derogatory.

I installed the ILIAS academy software on HeadBoy.com for evaluation as part of the proposed Bitcoin Talk tutorials project, but there didn't seem to be any interest in it. I'm so impressed with the software that I'm cosidering keeping it, and using it for a Jet Cash academy. If I do this, then I'll include the posting stuff as a course. I started it on fit to Talk, but it is only half completed.

In my humble opinion, the thread belonged to the Beginners & help board, since it is about your personal experience and oppinion. I think it should be far more useful in there than in reputation (I can't understand why the mods moved the thread to reputation since it is not related to any kind of accusation, it is just a statement about your own perception). Meta also seems ok, I don't get why they moved it to reputation...

I agree with that. In fact the idea was to fly it in Meta, and get a feel for community opinion. If it generated some positive comments, then I planned to move it to beginners. I think it could still be beneficial to move it onto the beginners' board.
4769  Other / Off-topic / Re: I Need to Stop Sex-testing on: July 14, 2018, 02:57:05 PM
I think you need to stop gender testing at the first meeting. Trust your instincts, and wait until you bcome more intimate before you start the testing.
4770  Other / Meta / Re: Do you consider this as begging? on: July 14, 2018, 02:53:37 PM
Merit talking seems to have become the new racism. If you dare to mention the "M" word, then you run the risk of being accused of being a merit beggar. As far as I can see, the biggest advantage in being a Legendary, is that you don't get accused of begging for merits, it takes the "me" out of "merit" Smiley
4771  Other / Meta / Re: Do you consider this as begging? on: July 14, 2018, 02:23:54 PM
Well I put the member on ignore. I didn't like the capitalised text, which seemed to be more of a demand than a request. The poster also appears to be one of the many who pollute the discussion board with generalised replies of little value.

This is why we need to stand up to the hooligans that are funded by the deep state in an attempt to halt the rise of populism.

I support Donald Trump and his strong ant-globalist stance, that seeks to rebuild America after the pillage by Clinton, Obama and the rest of them. I also support Brexit, and I hope it wll lead to a political party that will "drain the swamp" of the Etonian/Oxford/Harvard treasonous cabal that created the European Union and has stolen so much from the member states.

I live in hope that surfers will return to direct navigation, but that seems to be less likely with every passing year.
4774  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Who to blame: the people or the government? on: July 14, 2018, 10:49:59 AM
The real culprit is the creation of debt by the banking elite, and the theft of capital from the people and national reserves.

The people are also to blame for allowing it to happen, and to succumb to the drug addiction promoted by the deep state, and the government unicorns.
4775  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Why are some people still skeptical about climate change? on: July 14, 2018, 10:44:45 AM
Because false information and misleading statistics make it difficult to understand exactly what is happening. Vaccines are no longer being used to prevent disease, but are being used as a tool for global eugenics, you only need to look at the poisons being added to vaccines, and the results of infecting and poisoning helathy babies to realise the truth. Similarly, the use of targetted climate change as a weapon of war, and the experiments to develop these, are possibly more damaging than the actions of consumers. Well maybe the constant destruction of trees and hedges is probably more damaging than the use of modern well maintained diesel vehicles. Electric vehicles export pollution from the cities into the countryside, but very few reports give enough factual analysis to establish this, because the governments want to be able to control vehicles from remote locations.
4776  Other / Meta / Re: Disable signatures/bounties til a user reaches full member status. on: July 14, 2018, 10:28:13 AM
At the moment, the only benefit members derive from merit awards is the removal of the progressive ranking barriers. The primary perceived benefit of an increased rank is the ability to earn more from signature spamming. Obviously this leads to the idea that increasing merits means an increase in earning ability, regardless of contributions to the forum or the community here. Somehow we need to change the idea that "merits mean money", and to introduce some other benefits for the receivers of merits for quality forum contributions.
4777  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Technical Support / Re: Full Node and Lightning Node bandwidth question. on: July 14, 2018, 09:17:45 AM
If you are going to run a full node on VPS, make sure that you are able to use port 8333. I have a VPS plan that restricts this.
4778  Other / Meta / Re: Brand new accounts Spamming around - same thread offering 0.05 BTC for subscribe on: July 14, 2018, 08:20:42 AM
What a waste of mods time, and the time of the members reporting them. How long will it be before restrictions are placed on newbies to reduce the overhead of reporting and deleting them.
4779  Other / Meta / Re: can we make one more section of merit giving thread on: July 13, 2018, 03:13:23 PM
OK - I'm going to go out on a limb here. I don't think those threads should be allowed.

Running soup kitchens in a country is a sign of a failed employment structure, or a lazy nation. It is far better to   improve the economy so that soup kitchens are redundant. Giving merits for quiz answers is pretty pathetic, and defeats the purpose of the merit system. It would be far better if worthwhile advice threads were not moved into obscure backwaters, and ICO, bounty, TwitBook and other spammy threads were either deleted or moved into the underworld here. This would cut out the pollution and weed infestation, and allow merit awarders to read the boards and award merit where it is deserved. It will also improve the image of Bitcoin Talk and attract new members who are interested in crypto and Bitcoin, and who don't want to throw their garbage at the boards in the hope that some of it will stick and provide them with a few pennies.
4780  Other / Meta / Re: Should posting advice be in Meta or beginners? on: July 13, 2018, 12:00:22 PM
I get a bit concerned that I'm trying to push Bitcoin Talk in a direction that mods and admin don't think is correct. I'm hoping that Bitcoin Talk wiil be the place to discuss the new Government cryptos when they arrive. Because of the strong membership base here, especially in the populations of the emerging countries, I think it will be a great place to gauge popular opinion. If we are to do this, then we need to present a more professional image, and allow the extremely good technical and economic posts and posters to become more obvious.
