4761  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Am I doing anything wrong by holding bitcoin?⁰ on: December 31, 2020, 04:38:31 PM
Yes, I think you're doing something wrong hodling Bitcoin late. The current stack you're hodling now in dollar value would've bought you more than 2btc in the first quarters of 2020 if you took this initiative then. Well, it's better late than never. I like the advice jackg gave above. Adhering to them will make things easier for you and keep you away from losing your coins to lurking hackers and scammers.
4762  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How much btc do you need to secure your future? on: December 31, 2020, 06:12:20 AM
Cheesy maybe 50BTC will be okay to take care of myself and my families, we'll know that there are currency differences between us forum members and base on my currency i would love to hold 50BTC.
Hia! You raised a very outrageous and unrealistic standard here oh. Do you know what that 50btc amounts to in the present day Naira value? Even those top Nigerian polithieftians are likely not to have that type of cash stolen from the government. That's >$1,425,000, then multiply it with the naira. That's very huge. Well, I think any discerning and business oriented person in my country will secure their future with 3-5btc thrown at them at the current level. For me, that's all I need.
4763  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The "rat poison" is worth more than Buffett's company on: December 31, 2020, 05:46:25 AM
Lol...Your caption is hilarious. I had a good laugh viewing it. Well, I knew for sure that the old man and the other Bitcoin haters would be in the news once Bitcoin began to rise again. And here it is! Who can take a gander as to what regrets these men would be having now, not having bought Bitcoin early this year when the price was almost at floor level. However, truth remains that people always fight whatever they think threatens their happiness, (in this case business) and this is what WB et al are doing. They forget that from time to time there's always a paradigm shift. Bitcoin (cryptocurrency) is the present day paradigm shift in matters of finance. It's either they embrace Bitcoin or get crushed under its weight. It's that simple a fact.

4765  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Trading Trend is Changing | Adopt YourSelf ! on: December 30, 2020, 11:19:03 AM
The trading trend this year and next year will become more interesting as there will be many more new people involved in the exchanges. Besides that, we will see many institutional comes to the market to buy bitcoin with a large amount of money.
I am already looking forward to next year with great expectations based on current market trend. Closely, I will monitor activities in January. That should be a pointer to how forceful the market will be in either attaining great push or slowing the current momentum down. Overall, early investors in altcoins who are easily pleased taking profit will be the better for it. Also, I know those who suffered loss in 2017 for not being smart enough taking profit early will want to hastily do that in 2021 and that could be prematurely and selling off too quickly just like those who did this month once Bitcoin broke the last ATH of 19k+. Honestly, 2021 will be an interesting year.
4766  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What are the benefits of buying XRP at present? on: December 30, 2020, 08:51:16 AM
Since the price of XRP is the lowest at the present time, what is the possibility of profit if I buy it at the present time? This project will not be in the market and will go away.
Your last sentence (bolded by me for emphasis) sounds more like a declarative rather than a question which you made the title look like. If you had already concluded that the outcome of buying Ripple will be a total loss, then you shouldn't be making attempts to buy in. For me, I would rather stay out of Ripple until the dust settles. Doing otherwise is taking an unmitigated risk, and knowingly so. It's not the best way to approach investments.
4767  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Bye bye Xripple Welcome Back Litecoin on: December 30, 2020, 05:17:08 AM
Do you think Litecoin will return to reign with the Bitcoin and Ethereum brothers as in the past?
XRP has never been a match for Litecoin despite it occupying a leading spot on the list. For me, I really don't give much consideration for spots. I gauge a coin by what I know it can do (use-case) and then look at the total supply before drawing conclusions. I ain't saying this now that Ripple is overrated because of what has become of its fate of late, I have always maintained that its greatest undoing is its huge supply. And now, this onslaught on it may kill it. I will just be watching if this will be another Bitcoinconnect Coin incident playing out here again. BCC has completely gone off the radar since after that scam accusation incident a few years ago.
4768  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: TWT chance to pump 0.5$ on: December 30, 2020, 04:10:57 AM
TWT is also being distributed free (airdrop) to Binance users.
Oh! I see. Was that how it landed in my account on Binance? I was a little taken aback a few days ago when I saw 100 TWT which I couldn't remember buying. I don't know if it's a good token or not but for the fact that it's on the Binance exchange may cause it to be noticed more. Who knows it could appreciate and even be another Uniswap.
4769  Economy / Speculation / Re: Selling at $27K, then getting back in around $27.8K if breakout seems likely? on: December 29, 2020, 05:52:37 AM
Your risk to reward ratio is small and may not be really worth it to take the risk. If you're scared out and sold at the $27k level, then you should wait awhile for a correction before buying back and not just rush in. It's bad trading practice to buy back higher than one sold. However, to the best of my perspicacity, I really don't think Bitcoin is in for a crash now. There may be minor corrections on the way and those corrections aren't worth the risk of selling off to buy back later, in my opinion anyway. You can play with the alts by taking your chances but doing that with Bitcoin is taking a huge risk. Bitcoin will continue to soar well into 2021.
4770  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: What is the Best Time to sell ? on: December 29, 2020, 03:58:05 AM
I think I should use the Google Trend tool. As soon as the search volume reaches the same level as 2017, we should be able to sell Bitcoin
Well, I think following that pattern would mean you also will be selling too early too because market volume will surpass what it was in 2017. There's more awareness for Bitcoin and the entire cryptocurrency industry now than there was four years ago. Again, I do believe that because this is halving year, 2021 will even have a greater volume than we already are having now. If I were you, I would wait some more time before selling.
4771  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: why are there many big us and international institutions investing in bitcoin ? on: December 27, 2020, 01:39:42 PM
Bitcoin has been rising since 2009 and it had many ath and hype , especially on december 2017 where it reached its bigger ATH , but why did institutions did that now ?
In my opinion, institutions are investing in it now because of sudden realization that Bitcoin can be a wedge for inflation. I mean, who wouldn't think in that direction for an investment seeing that at a time of a widespread pandemic Bitcoin couldn't be deterred even as various financial instruments crumbled under that weight. Another thing is the fact that it's obvious value in price will definitely rise whether institutions are buying in or not since that's what every post halving brings as scarcity mounts. It's a smart move from the institutions who want to be early birds in order not to miss the train.
4772  Economy / Speculation / Re: I doubt Bitcoin will dip below 20k again on: December 27, 2020, 05:00:15 AM
No one can predict what will happen next with Bitcoin. Looking at the present trend and the amount of money being invested it will go up but it will also go down as there are investors who will be booking profits. But, it is hard to say where will it land when it goes into red.
This is the same mindset I have learnt to adopt when it comes to Bitcoin or anything cryptocurrency — Nothing is so certain that it can't be doubted — that axiom is apt here. Yes, quite a lot has changed in the pattern of investment with institutions coming in but these institutions are also handled by humans too who can be erratic in decisions taking. Until there's a law banning institutions from offloading their hodlings as and when due, I don't think we can bet on that; that there won't be a dump if institutions decide to take profit.
4773  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is it the same? on: December 26, 2020, 07:14:15 PM
Greetings Bounty Hunters!
I'm just curious on how do you call a failed project (project who run some features but didn't continue) and a project who depreciated within time (projects who has lost its value due to its low demand and market value)
From my little experience, failed projects are those who run some features but failed to pull through with their WP or roadmap. The devs just have the ideas in their brains but aren't able to keep it a reality to finally actualize it. I had several tokens like that in the past. But if tokens dump after they're listed, it's a normal thing to me as early investors always take profit quickly to reenter trades. That isn't a sign of a failed project. Sometimes, these dumped projects recover once they've used cases embedded in them.

Another thing is how can you tell if it has a potential  or doesn't  have any?
Any project that doesn't have a problem it's addressing or solving simply doesn't have utility. Such a project should be avoided because it doesn't have potential. Always look out for a use-case token/coin while investing. They're the potential projects.
4774  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: The Broken Promise For The Hunters on: December 26, 2020, 05:03:11 PM
Bounty hunters are those who enthusiastically join a campaign to promote a specific project to earn only a small amount of money from crypto.

But unfortunately, many project if not failed, they just give promises to the hunters to pay for their hard works after a couple of months which is still good to the part of the hunters and can do nothing but wait for the exact date that the project has promised.
I think the whole thing boils down to the fact that most projects and their teams don't truly value hunters. They see the rewards they pay to hunters as doing hunters a huge favour rather than paying for the services these hunters did. Until hunters begin to command respect I don't see that mentality of BMs and project teams changing anytime soon. Hunters should be more selective of bounties they promote too. Make sure they're escrowed or are run by credible bounty managers.

This is very disappointing in the part of the bounty hunters, but what the hunters can do? Still nothing, but always hope and wait.
Nope, I don't believe bounty hunters should feel helpless whenever such a sad situation of reneging to reward hunters arises. They should open a thread on reputation and drag out the project and the bounty manager. I know this isn't an easy thing to do as some BMs may become retaliatory once they're called out instead of appeasing the hunters or ameliorating the situation. I have had such an experience with one of the BMs here too.
4775  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Stop wishing Ethereum dead or overthrown on: December 26, 2020, 03:38:20 PM
A wish is just what it is until it's put into action before it's regarded as a threat. For now, I think OP (or any other person) shouldn't take whatever people mouth against ETH to heart. Perhaps they make such utterances in frustration against the high gas fees of ETH.

One man's trash... another man's treasure. Ethereum is one of the coins that I believe in, and will continue to strive as the community that serves it grows.
ETH is focal to the crypto circle because of its smart contract and I can only but imagine how sordid the market will look if ETH fades out. That won't be a good sign to hope for. ETH is a treasure in this regard and I don't think anyone will justifiably say it hasn't contributed meaningfully to the crypto industry.
4776  Other / Meta / Re: Remove Signatures from Altcoin-sections on: December 25, 2020, 10:29:46 AM
Even thought I do believe the Altcoin Section is mostly populated with spam posts and of the fact that most bounties run there end as scam, I still am of the opinion that bounty campaigns should be allowed to thrive there. All what the mods or theymos need do is step up the game to sanitize the section. Remove bounties there, bitcointalk forum will lose a great deal of revenue and publicity to rivalry fora.

You guys creating a way to make forum dies, since imagine many forums paid their posters just to create a post to make their forum alive and guess you are suggesting a way to eliminate them?
So true. I remember a few years ago the creator of ICO Forum, a crypto site just like BTT rushed to this forum to offer high yield bounty campaign to those who wanted. I noticed how the traffic on the site went up astronomically because of that as many users here quickly registered on that forum and there was transfer of knowledge and expertise. Sadly, the bounty didn't last long as the bounty manager was alleged to have embezzled campaign funds in ETH. The lesson is "money moves places." Or you can say in the parlance of my people — Money stops nonsense.

Well that's a big NO. If you think the post is spam then click report moderator and let the mods decide if that is total spam.
That isn't radical enough an approach for me.

Hypocrisy towards this will have a huge impact on the forum, We have mods around and believe me guys bitcointalk will slowly die if no signature opportunity will be allowed in altcoin section or even everywhere.
This is an open secret, even though certain users will want to claim ending signature or bounty campaigns here won't affect the forum. It will! Simple and short!
4777  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Best Time For Alt Coins.. on: December 25, 2020, 08:48:20 AM
Once the bitcoin reaches 70% dominance, I think its a right time to invest in alt coins.
I think the 70% dominance of Bitcoin is very high to plunge into alts buying. I would rather look at anything below 60%, except you're just trying o take high risk. What if the dominance continues above 70%? It definitely means the alts will be in bloody mess after you've bought in. However, that will be more profitable buying at that level than buying below 60%. But I rather take my time to buy below that.

Are we Going to see Bull Run in Q1 2021? Is it a right time to invest in Alt Coins? What is your opinion on this?
We never can tell when what happens will happen, especially in this crypto space but surely there will be a bull run for alts in 2021. That's crystal clear.
4778  Other / Meta / Re: [TELEGRAM] Yet Another BitcoinTalk Notification BOT (merits, mentions, topics,+) on: December 24, 2020, 07:22:02 PM
Merit count is broken again, how do I set it manually?
Code:
/setMerit 219
Please, is there no permanent solution to this to keep accurate count instead of resetting it at intervals? Lately, I have also been experiencing that too. Not as if it's any problem since I can always see the true value on merit score on my profile. But it will be great to see that taken care of. My current merit count is 404 but the bot recorded it in notification as 400.
4779  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Altcoins and new all time highs on: December 24, 2020, 04:27:20 PM

You can save the image in your computer and check it in 2023 or 2024.
I would rather take a look at that in 2021 or 2025 but not 2023 or 2024. The reason being that I expect the market to do well after each post Bitcoin halving year. 2021 and 2025 are it. But before then there could be a repeat of the 2018 - 2019 dump that scared every Tom, Dick and Harry in the industry. We saw and admired what happened in 2017. That was a post halving year too.

I personally believe that the best way to actually make a profit is to catch which coin has a great future planned for it and nothing else.
How do you find that out? It's easier said than done. If anyone knew coins that will hit it big in the near future they would invest all they have, and still borrow to invest more in it.
