x3 hashrate for 2x power.

It's gonna mean NVIDIA cards prob compete with / outperform AMD for a while…

… I fully expect AMD optimizations to follow when other devs trying to mimic cbuchner's technical brilliance on AMD.

This NVIDIA development will just raise the standard for Devs working on and optimizing mining software. One of the reasons I'm into Groestlcoin is because the algo better suits these sorts of developments than any other imo. This is the sort of news I want for Groestlcoin. AT  the cutting edge of mining!

It'll be interesting to see the market reaction bit I dont see any doom + gloom here.
Just some healthy disruption to the staus quo. I think we're all into that here! Cheesy

yes but if the algo takes more power, it will be just like all the other non-scrypt coins like those based on keccak, for example.
so not special :-)

Just opened new pool (proportional, 1% fee) - for 100 first miners fee will be 0%

https://www2.coinmine.pl/grs/
Primary Node: mine1.coinmine.pl:3000

Currently looking for few miners to proof its working properly (and finding blocks).

feeleep

I'm mining on it right now. Reported hashrate is too high and vardiff doesn't seem to kick in.

The cuda guys are saying that optimizing groestl will mean much faster X11 and quark.
I don't think so: I did some tests on X11 and groestl takes about 20% of the time; so even if you double its performance, globally you will just get 10% improvement.
Granted, 20% is much more than what is taken for example by keccak (just a couple percent).
4784  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: MinerEU -Gridseed EU Distributor, In UK Stock, EU duty/VAT free, Reseller wanted on: April 11, 2014, 01:15:35 PM
I was going to order G-blade special promotion, but it is unclear from where will be the goods shipped. I would not like to pay VAT when shipped from China. Also why has the payment to be sent to Hong Kong, SEPA transfer would be much faster and cheaper too...?

Thanks for response

same question

For EU customers, items will be dispatched from our UK distribution centre, so no need to worry about VAT and DUTY
Payment send to HongKong is for accounting purpose. Gridseed's USD account is also in HongKong, easier for us.
We are considering to open a bank account in the UK.

PSU is not included correct?

Is there an OS on the device so that I can just ssh to it and fire up cgminer?

please answer asap and I'll be going to my bank this morning to complete the wire transfer/

thanks

no OS, just usb like the good old usb miner with 5 chips.

Yes, I've seen bogus fluctuations of 1%, but the 4.25% for #pragma unroll 1 on the 8th "for i" is repeatable.

939kh is the baseline, I did #pragma unroll 1 in all "for" loops. I only gained with the 4th and 8th, but interestingly when doing them both I went <939. So I kept the 8th #pragma unroll 1 which is the fastest of all.

I had previously tried #pragma unroll but didn't find any speed. I also hardcoded easily computed values in simd.cl instead of having then been computed, and still didn't get any speedup.

I believe all this has to do with compiler optimizations, which usually can figure out how to best unroll or pre-compute values automatically, but sometimes it's better to do them manually. And results may vary by card, for example a simple optimization may work for a 7950 but lead to worse results on a r9 290.

for some reason it doesn't work, I enter my hashrate and when I click calculate it resets back to 2850.
4787  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] sph-sgminer: multi-coin multi-algorithm GPU miner | added Twecoin on: April 09, 2014, 08:07:32 AM
2. Can somebody with a 79xx / R9 test their hashrate if they use a #pragma unroll 1 before the fourth and eighth "for i" loops for the dark kernel? (seperate tests). For 5830 I get small speed gains by disabling loop unrolling. Instructions here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=556277.msg6089358#msg6089358

My 290(X)s don't like this /un/optimization.

sometimes small hashrate gains are just bogus: I had proof that recompiling the exact same .cl file can yield a small performance gain or loose.

somehow ./configure does not like both of my systems. on one rig it complains about missing path (but it is set) and on the other (where i m running nan-miner and cgminer) it is telling something like "no open CL"

is anyone able to give me an advice?

You can try ./autogen.sh before ./configure

Nwoolls & Luke-Jr thank you for the work you guys put in!

Question, is it possible to manage Gridseed devices with different frequencies within one instance of bfgminer?  Anyone have any solutions or am I missing something?  I tried to read through a lot of the recent posts to see if someone stated a solution but could not find one.  Thanks

I belive you can with this:

https://github.com/girnyau/cgminer-gc3355/commits/master

not bfgminer, though.
4790  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Multi Coin Pool CoinFu.io in Beta on: April 02, 2014, 02:26:38 PM
WOW the pool stats is reporting PROFITABILITY (BTC/DAY PER MH/S) 0.018764(24h) & 0.007677(7d)! Is it true?? I'm so gonna point my rigs here if it is! Smiley

I don't think so, the pool is down and that number is going up and up :-)

Gridseed Miner Blade is soon available. Check the News:
http://gridseed-blog.com/gridseed-blade-miner-soon-available/

too expensive... if they want to compete with the upcoming wave of asics, they will need to bring it down a lot.
also it looks silly to me that: "No price advantage to Gridseeds, for 3000 USD you get about 16 Miners, thats 80 Chips as well."

Would you mind posting an updated screencap with a longer run time and details on your config?  That's a remarkable hashrate for only 744mhz...

There you go , http://imgur.com/eRItNxl .

So how did you achieve that?

And are you using

https://github.com/dtbartle/cgminer-gc3355/commits/master

or

https://github.com/girnyau/cgminer-gc3355/commits/master

?
(BTW, anybody knows which one of the two cgminer repos is better?)

Seems like my all time btc payout has been reset, when does this happend?

+1

one of the payments in the history disappeared and the "all time" doesn't match the history (is a bit lower).

Is it only me who has a lot of disconnects today?

I believe the site has been under attack today.

Sorry for my ignorance but can you mine Maxcoin with this miner?

I don't think so. Use cgminer keccak, works very fine.

I'm running a single GS device directly attached to a pc with bfgminer.
Regardless of the clock speed, I get about 1 HW error every 3 minutes.
Any clues?

- Sapphire R9 290 Tri-X OC - can't get them above 2,2 Mhash, tried settings for hours
- I also see the 10% drop reported after a while
- Temp and fanspeed are not displayed

I'm reluctant to try Catalyst 14, since it throttles the GPU frequency.

I still can't do more that 500Kh with my 290, so you're lucky ;-)
To disable frequency throttling, try this tool:

http://epixoip.github.io/od6config/

Sounds good, I'll give it a try tonight.
500k is indeed very poor, how comes?

I really don't know: tried all possible settings, asked for help everywere, nothing.
On the same rig a good old 7950 can easily do 3 times more.
I can only think of a driver (fglrx) problem, even though the card is fine mining other algos.

from 16.000 to 40.000 satoshi in 1 day

possible over 500.00 satoshi like a month ago?

nobody knows but block halving and the renowed support by max keiser did something, eventually.
