4781  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Were there attempts to create a thing like Bitcoin before Satoshi Nakamoto? on: December 05, 2019, 09:21:55 AM
Just like what @alani123 posted, it's all in the references in the white paper.  Different articles support the whole Bitcoin system, and it's built up of different concepts combined into one. That's why Bitcoin is the first to arrive there and solving the problem, double-spending, in which other virtual currencies haven't done yet. Satoshi Nakomoto may or may not be a group of people, but what's important is what they created, and it gave birth to what we have now.

Nothing is created purely out of nothing. Most are ideas that lead one to another in combination with different things or something.
4782  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: I'm Thinking of Bitcoin Blockchain Accessible Without Internet on: December 05, 2019, 08:42:06 AM
That being said, the poorest of the poor will not be able to enjoy what we are enjoying right now in this crypto space. To send and receive Bitcoin, one needs advance technological tools such as a crypto wallet, smart phone, an internet connection, and so on.
I know this one. That's why I said how they would be able to access it. Being the poorest of the poor would be hard for them. Imagine banks giving bank accounts to them, and they won't do that because they are not sure of how they will profit from it.

If these are all non-existent in a certain area, there is no point talking about Bitcoin or blockchain or whatever. This is a new-wine-in-an-old-wineskin story.
These types of problems are there to be solved, and I think it could be done, but there are no researches to support it yet, you will never know. But what I'm thinking of is giving someone a donation, even just a little even if you are far away from them, it could help them. I think everyone could be at least given a chance to connect to the internet and learn some knowledge about anything they want.

I remember an app called FireChat [1], and it works even without internet. When buwaytress mentioned wireless mesh network, I remembered it, and I think they could start revolutionizing other applications as well. Not sure how, but at least that's a step in the right direction.
4783  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: After IDAX, now Dash? on: December 05, 2019, 06:44:02 AM
This is somewhat the concern with people, having the power and control over almost everything, mostly concerning money, and then they probably have evil thoughts just to run away. Maybe they have gone with their urges and flew to another country in which they are not recognized and relax when everything has died down. It depends on people on why they are going to do that and reasons that are common are listed below:
  • Probably face criminal/jail time
  • Mental problems
  • Domestic abuse

This list is some from the top of my head. I'm not judging or criticizing anyone, but they decided to go away from all the noise. It's a good thing that I hadn't had any funds left in IDAX before the CEO went missing. I hope everyone could and have withdrawn their funds left there.
4784  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: How I went from mining in my garage to building a datacenter. on: December 05, 2019, 01:45:34 AM
Thanks for sharing this man. It's great to See progress, just like in the movies where you witness a humble beginning and achieve a lot towards the ultimate goal. It's one of my goals to build my own cryptocurrency farm to support the network and making it stronger and possibly sharing my passion towards it but electricity, from where I live, is expensive and would not be worthwhile. Keep up the great work; I hope you don't stop sharing.
4785  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why are the world’s governments not using cryptocurrencies? on: December 04, 2019, 03:14:28 PM
Let’s face the facts. Just like what others said, most governments want to have control over almost everything. And when there is control, there is power. Power translates to money. And money is almost fuel for anyone to do almost anything. Bitcoin = Money ≠ Control. They won't want that at all.

What we could do is to vote those who are in support of blockchain technology and let them be the deciding factor towards a decision that is good for the people. At least if they are vocal with the use of these kinds of technology, then sooner or later, there would be more applications towards the use of cryptocurrencies.
4786  Economy / Reputation / Re: Roobet.com not paying on their mistakes on: December 04, 2019, 09:50:44 AM
There are a lot of cases in land-based casinos that there were malfunctions towards the games in casinos. [1]. Ideally, to address these kinds of errors, the manufacturers/developers should be responsible. Some of the cases there were resolved only with minor prizes or "compromise" type of results, but there is a key difference between land-based casinos and online games are the verification.

Luckily, it can be checked with the provably fair. You get the client seed, server seed, and nonce. Verify. When that's done, you would see that you won.

IMO, Roobet should pay what they owe. Lucky for yahoo that the bet won.

4787  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Crypto world is presently not sane on: December 04, 2019, 08:02:13 AM
I do think that there are other factors to consider when there's a bear market.
  • It could have been caused by political changes concerning a country or a government
  • When people can't support the price and needs funds
  • The short term psychology
  • and many others

That's what I'm currently practicing, getting all the profits, and being satisfied with what I gained and focusing on the reality that we need to be practical, especially when money is involved. It's not just projects, but certain groups of people should have to develop. The learning never ends, and companies shouldn't stop too. People should always be ready with what the market gives and be responsible for your actions as well.
4788  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why Did Satoshi Nakamoto Choose 21M as Bitcoin’s Maximum Supply? on: December 04, 2019, 04:52:41 AM
I did check on the internet, different theories, and the most informational that I found is in Quora.

https://www.quora.com/Why-do-we-only-have-21-million-Bitcoins#

The idea of having a finite supply makes it more valuable, and knowing the limit makes people feel FOMO and maybe increasing its value even more, so in my POV, having different amounts of supply, 21M, 22M, 50M, etc. As long as you know that it's finite, it has the same effect. I would say the same with how long it would be to mine. But still, in terms of max supply, it is worth it to have that and prevent additional production of coins. Suitable for the economy and transparent, in a way.
4789  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Have there been any money laundering schemes that used cryptocurrency? on: December 03, 2019, 04:25:47 PM
If you have been aware of what others are saying about Bitcoin, one of it is that it's being used for illegal activities such as money laundering. I'll clarify one thing I've noticed that you said that it's to get "rid" of their cash, but that's not true. Money Laundering, by definition, is to clean dirty money, dirty money as obtained illegally.

One thing I found in common with wealthy people is that they want to spend as little as possible towards taxes because they want to keep it all. And just like mocacinno said, there are portions, but not everyone tried it. Mainly, they use cash, and I agree with mocacinno again with them using Cash instead of digital money.

They are probably using crypto to send money somewhere and find a way to clear Bitcoin. There are a couple of things they could do with that, and it's to use different tumbler/mixing services and unregulated exchanges. This is probably why some people are still uneasy when it comes to cryptocurrencies.

For catching the bad guys, the government could have its division, which specializes in those kinds of things.
4790  Other / Meta / Re: Can we Celebrate 24th Jan as Merit Sources Appreciation Day with a contest?. on: December 03, 2019, 12:39:37 PM
Maybe there could be holidays as well in the forum? Then there could be an announcement in the banners telling that "it's that day." Just kidding. Anyways, I don't think it's necessary, though, but I think being given a chance to be a merit source is already appreciation enough. Maybe messaging the people who you appreciate is even better.
4791  Economy / Exchanges / Re: Coinbase Holds a Whopping 966,230 Bitcoin ($7B) in Cold Wallet on: December 03, 2019, 09:45:30 AM
Coinbase has been in the game for seven years and counting. They have acquired the trust between people and cryptocurrency and what helped them achieve that is being early In the game. Because of this post, I was amazed at how they acquired different investments that led to acquiring different companies and partnering with various companies to help them with their goals. With only that, I think you could say that they are one of the best in the business.

Going to your opinion, being hacked is always going to be a problem because they won't know when it's going to happen, they should be aware that it could. Last August, there was an attempted hacking, but they were prepared. So I think by far, they are one of the best.
4792  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: A piece of an advice on: December 03, 2019, 07:51:17 AM
It means people are still learning if they get stopped out or lose a lot of money. I think everyone would experience this, but it shouldn't be a hindrance towards what you can achieve. It's all about gaining experience and making sure that you know what you are doing. It's not just about trading, but it could be decisions in life as well. It doesn't mean it can't get better or the other way around. All in all, the one responsible for your results is yourself if you let it be.

Because a coin drops 84% doesn't mean it can't drop another 85%, trailed by one more 81%
This type of mindset is common and is what people normally think:
  • It couldn't get lower than that.
  • It could still go higher

The mind is what kills us emotionally and mentally.
4793  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: New way to scam people [I think] on: December 03, 2019, 06:07:25 AM
I thought it was only in Telegram. Being part of big group channels where cryptocurrency is the central niche is subject to attacks from this kind of spam. It's not a new thing like what others said. It's even more prevalent in SMS back in the day, and I'm sure it has just carried over towards the more modern way to communicate. It's just a matter of time people learn how not to get scammed like that. Thanks for sharing this, though. You could prevent being messaged in Telegram but not sure with Discord, though.
4794  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Service Discussion (Altcoins) / Re: CNB tokens on Coinsbit.io on: December 03, 2019, 03:57:42 AM
When you encounter unknown exchanges, like Coinsbit.io, you would be worried first if you are going to deposit because you will never know that it could just get your balance. Upon looking at a couple of threads, it surely is a scam exchange. It's easy to manipulate exchange volume and to be included in the CMC exchange list but there's nothing to consider if it is a scam or not, it's still up to the user to do the checking if the exchange can be trusted.

So back to your question. It's not useful, at all. Beware of "special funds"
4795  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: After years in this space...I am now a BTC/ETH maximalist (Both are important) on: December 03, 2019, 01:57:10 AM
So if you become a maximalist because you have seen the Rise of an Altcoin, which is Ethereum, what if another coin overtook it? Would you be that maximalist too? If you have thought that you have room to be a maximalist, and there would be another one for you. I'm not sure if you could be easily a maximalist and easily change your ways or something. It defeats the idea of being a maximalist. I'm basing it on this article.

It's stated there

a simple desire to support bitcoin and make it better;

the only correct way to do things and that doing anything else is unethical.

I'm just not sure if you would consider it unethical to your original claim, being a maximalist.
4796  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Any beginners Here who Want start swing trading? on: December 02, 2019, 02:30:59 PM
I think one of the best ways to share a strategy without ever going to reveal your method is history and probably a snapshot of your trading chart. Don't tell your parameters or something; it's just to clarify that you are legitimate and just not spouting out non-sense that you could earn this X Amount of USD per day, which is bull.

Providing signals are different when you are teaching the method. It's better to teach them rather than spoon-feed them. It could serve as a guide, though. It depends. Maybe you prepare a module or something.
4797  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Ethereum Resuscitate - Better chances to Touch 160$ standard on: December 02, 2019, 09:15:17 AM
In the past, Ethereum was always the number one choice for new ICO projects but now there are almost no projects using this coin.
I don't have any idea what another choice would they have if they were to invest in ICO projects. I know almost all of them are ERC-20 Tokens.

I think it is difficult for ETH to return to the highest price level because the current investment demand is still very low and bear market is making this coin worse. In my opinion, it is best to hold fiat or stable coin because this coin will have more adjustments before starting to increase in 2020.
That's basically what I said. It could be caused by different factors, not just Bitcoin itself but the best thing to invest in, IMO, is still BTC. What stable coin you specifically are talking about?

Of course, this is just my prediction and ETH will depend a lot on the value of Bitcoin so wait patiently and consider investing little if you feel this coin is cheap.
If you do this, you would be averaging your bought BTC every time and it's a good idea if you have the spare money.
4798  Economy / Services / Re: Telegram - Locking/Deleting: contacts/bots/channels/groups on: December 02, 2019, 06:03:19 AM
I delete/lock so that these Groups, Chats, Contacts, Channels are no longer accessible to other users in Telegram.
If you have competitors or fake than I can help you.
Now I understand what your service it. It's best to be clear what you are offering.

So you are saying that you are going to completely delete a group even if you are not an owner of the channel? Isn't that kind of sabotage?

4799  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Banks Are Never There When You Need Them - That's Why We Need Bitcoin on: December 02, 2019, 04:26:43 AM
There are a couple of reasons why you would choose crypto over banks, but in general, banks are just looking out for themselves. Think about it; they are there when they have an opportunity to gain money from a person or group of people. They are there when you can't pay your loan and charge you whenever you pay late — a property you cannot pay off, foreclosing The property. Repossession of unpaid cars, etc. They are for themselves. It's for their benefit, and that's good for their business.

On the other hand, Bitcoin lets you have control over your funds. It's just the adoption that we are waiting, oh, for so long. I think it's not wrong to think about that in banks, but that's the reality we have now. Let's continue supporting bitcoin, and we will never know what could happen.
4800  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Dump - The Worst Thing on: December 01, 2019, 12:18:18 PM
I hope you do know that almost all of the prices of altcoins are based on BTC. It's directly proportional.
  • When BTC drops in Price, Altcoins Suffer as well
  • When BTC increases in Price, Altcoins suffer as well

It's best to note that this is happening almost all of the time; it would just depend on the demand of a particular coin. Whether someone's buying it or not. That's the exception. So this is not common knowledge or isn't thought about, but it's true. I hope people would understand that concept when it comes to trading.

It's not the worst thing you know because you could take advantage of the drop by shorting the market. It would just depend on the exchange that you have if you could short it or long it.
