481  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: [GUIDE] GridSeed 5-Chip USB & Blade Miner Support/Tuning on: May 24, 2014, 02:19:42 AM
Got it working!!!

How do I specify which device to use? I would like to point one gridseed to one pool, and the other gridseed elsewhere

Fantastic!

That one question I would not know I never experimented with nor do I know if the program is capable of doing this such type of work.

Okay. I know with CGMiner you can tell it to use device 0, and the other one will be off

cpuminer does not support concurrent mining to different pools like cgminer. You will have to specify specific devices under different instances with cpuminer.

Updated!

Will work on updating the p2pool subsidy function for the new halving function now...

thanks cartman let me know how it goes.

All done... https://github.com/CartmanSPC/p2pool/commit/fd4d2241cf4d4fd427bacf751f90c7141621ba98

Will do a pull on the potcoin git to update the readme.

Edit: Done. None of these changes require a fork of P2Pool. P2Pool nodes can update at will.

hi; mining noob here  i setup 5 small rigs last night... maybe i just dont understand how all this works yet, but...

looks like overnight i've earned 55 CSC in my wallet...

checking my rigs though it looks like they've found 629 blocks... shouldn't that be worth like 31000+ CSC?   I'm connected to Xpool...  Is the pool ripping me off or do I just not understand this.  should i mine solo?  I've only got like 280 khash/s which i know isnt much.

You recieved about 0.1 CSC per block at average, so I think you are mining at a p2pool. That means that the hashrate is accumulated in time. Takes a while for you to get your hashrate pays your actually contributed hashrate on the pool. When you stop mining there, you will still recieve coins when a block is found in the pool.

When you are mining in a "normal" pool, you get a share of the total hashrate of a block that is found.
So for example when the hashrate in the pool is 28000 kHash/s and you mine with 280 kHash/s, then you recieve 1/100 of the blockvalue. That should be in this example 50:100=0.5 CSC per block. When you stop mining in a "normal" pool, you will only recieve the amount of yours from the last block you were mining on.

I think you are in a p2pool.
Also here (but some time later after you started) you can see in the stats of that pool what your payout should be when a block is found. (Look in the stats at your address). Again it takes a while before your payouts to go higher in a p2pool.

Edit:'see now you are at http://xpool.net:8840/static/miners.html.

So, total hashrate of the pool this hour is about 10000 kHash/s. So at the moment after a while your block payout should go to about 1.4 CSC (again takes some time). But I think there is another pool connected to this p2pool also. That is how p2pools work. The total hashrate of the total p2pool is higher than 10000 kHash/s I think.

Then your payout is lower than 1.4 CSC per block of course. So check the stats of the pool at http://xpool.net:8840/static/mainnodepayout.html and find your address. Again, when you stop mining in a p2pool, you will still recieve coins when a block is found. Sometimes it can go on for a day, depends on how long and how much hashes you have used in the p2pool.

Hi sonicrose,

Pools use various payout methods. P2Pool uses PPLNS with a 24 hour window. Your valid shares over a 24 hour window will determine your share of the payout. The longer you mine the more valid shares you will have within that 24 hours. At the start your payout per block is smaller but grows with time. Once you stop mining you continue to receive payouts as your share count diminishes.

It is common to reach your full payout within 6 to 8 hours. You can expect to payouts to continue for roughly the same amount of time after you stop mining.

P2Pool has a block finder bonus (0.5% of the block payout) regardless of your number of submitted shares or hash rate.

Not knowing your payout address it is hard to know which miner you are but I think this is you:

You can see your payout grow with time. The dip in the middle is when an 80Mh/s miner came on board so as you can imagine that decreased your portion.

Edit: Forgot to add that with that low of a hashrate you should be appending /0 to the end of your username/wallet address. It will give you the lowest possible share diff and a greater chance of getting valid shares accepted.

Please make sure you are doing an algo switch for the right reasons. I don't think scrypt asics are a bad thing as they help secure the blockchain with higher hash rates. I suspect the call to switch algo's is more for the GPU miners benefit than anything else.

Maybe I don't understand the reason to switch but I would think that higher hashrates are more desirable than allowing GPU miners to continue being useful.

I don't know how effective a 51% attack is with the newer difficulty adjustment algorithms. Wouldn't buy into it being a reason to switch algos.

I'm sorry to hear about your personal situation. That kind of stuff is hard to deal with but should always take precedence over this or any other type of work. Since they happen to everyone consider expanding your dev team so that 1 or 2 can take time off without there being the perception of "lack of interest". I have noticed a recurring trend that individuals in crypto are less forgiving of outside life issues.

Post the json you're using. Stock I am guessing?

I used the stock json. I also started it from a CMD Prompt, no json, autodetect. same error:

Nice catch...was going to suggest checking 12v power.

what Huh?

I make $44/day off 28 mhs

sumting wong! LOL

That is about as good as I have found for coin switching pools.  Of course you can do better mining a single coin - lots better, or possibly lots worse.

I am working on setting up 10 miners (btc and scrypt), a full time job, kids, etc. and devoting hours every day to researching coins ... All I can say is I will do it when I can.  In the meantime, coin switching pools provide stable (if paltry) income.

If there is a better coin switching pool, I am all ears!!
^emphasis mine.

That's the problem...in order to make a fast ROI you need to almost make mining a full time job...reaching the right coins and selling at the right time. I too am operating purely on profits made from GPU scrypt mining but have not had the time to research alternatives to scrypt. Loosing out there.

I tend to hold all my coins...only selling when necessary to purchase new equipment. Not the safest way to cover ROI but when a coin hits it can hit hard...even then I tend to hoard Smiley

It is a hard game so anyone making the investment should know that going in.

are there any pools left to mine casinocoin?

http://xpool.net:8840

Also, I have 35 connections on the wallet. All on 1.2! Haven't re-compiled to include the patch to disconnect older clients so it's looking good.
Highest ive seen is 25 active connections on my wallet, have you added anymore nodes?
I guess we can still use the seeds but it is not mandatory since there is quite a few active nodes.

Now 37. Seed nodes would be advisable as I'm sure the ones hard coded into the wallet are on the old version and perhaps the cause for some of the sync issues.

490  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: LIGHTNINGASIC LA75M,75MHS SCRYPT Miner, USD8800; LA1THS, USD1950.shipped out!!! on: May 22, 2014, 06:36:39 PM
So, any review on the latest miner?

Tomorrow.  FYI I am running 72 hours straight, no failures, no drop outs, no problems (LA90M).  Mining is consistent at 87 Mh/s with old firmware.  My review will include upgrading firmware and a peek at the internals too.  If I have time I may try running a stock rPi as controller just to be able to play with the settings a little.

I am running on the wemineall.com public pool for now.  They gave me a vip server for this monster, but I had way too many rejects on the private server.  wemineall is having a private server added via support ticket that will be tweaked for my unit.  My 1% donation to wemineall is paying huge dividends, highly recommend them.

FWIW, I am currently the #1 contributor to wemineall, and #2 in BTC per day (sorry for table formatting, I still can't figure out how to post a table) .. note my total also includes a 5 Mh/s gridseed blade, but most all of hashing is the LA90M:

Rank   User Name        Shares       Weighted For Diff
1    zerocylinders   1,936       244,033

At the current BTC price of $514 your making around $43/day. With a cost of $10,999 it looks like ROI will be 255 days?

Edit: Not taking into account any difficulty changes.

what Huh?

I make $44/day off 28 mhs

sumting wong! LOL

Went off of the wemineall BTC/day estimate Smiley

are there any pools left to mine casinocoin?

Also, I have 35 connections on the wallet. All on 1.2! Haven't re-compiled to include the patch to disconnect older clients so it's looking good.

The new chain is now longer so the wallet should no longer say out of sync Smiley

The old chain appears to be stuck on the timewarp exploit  Roll Eyes

Got it.  Thank you all for the help. I personally feel 14pt red is obnoxious. Please consider making something nicer like some of your competitors.

This is my first trial of ad sigs...lets see how it goes. Smiley

Fix your sig.

You can only have our advertisement in the signature with the link. Nothing else.

I think you forgot you're working for UpDown now...  Grin but yes CartmanSPC, you can't have anything else in the sig.

EDIT: the sig still looks wrong... it's missing the color and size of the Senior Member's sigs.

That I work for updown means I can't help Cartman?  Lips sealed
And yeah wrong size too.
Guess what I don't understand is why my size 14 is so much larger than your size 14?

Yea, don't like the red or large size. Also just noticed the trust rating of RitzGrandCasino. Perhaps this isn't for me...
