481  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: My Knowledge On Bitcoin on: January 20, 2024, 07:57:08 AM
Bitcoin is a cryptocurrency I've been hearing but haven't gotten a full information about it.The only information I was having on bitcoin was the bull run market, when people bought bitcoin, stored it in their digit wallet, and when the price of bitcoin was high(Bull run market) in 2021,those people that were having bitcoin in their wallet sold it and some invested, some bought cars, houses etc.So that was the only information I was having on bitcoin but when I joined this forum I've acquired some information on bitcoin, that bitcoin is not a get quick rich investment.And-
1.Bitcoin was the first cryptocurrency.

Technically, it's not the first cryptocurrency, if you read the Whitepaper, it the footnote he mentioned where he get his inspiration. Like Wei Dai, "b-money", and Dr Adam Back  Hashcash.

So in essence he took a lot the the "cyberpunks" group and then put it all together and created the prime mover in crypto and that is Bitcoin.

And you are just about in the right time to join the market as we will have a bull run this year, because of the halving event.
482  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: January 20, 2024, 12:53:16 AM
The Boston Celtics are 20-0 at home. I don't remember seeing such a good home performance in years. 1985-86 Celtics went 40-1 at home, and that was almost 40 years ago! I don't know how long this year's Celtics will remain undefeated, but instead of trying to break that record, they better be champions like the '86 Celtics. With a roster this good, a championship after so many years is what is expected of them. Tatum especially needs it to put his name up there with the best.

Yes, they better be known to have won a ring, instead of that great record at home. Similar to what the Warriors did before, breaking the Bulls all time winning record in a season but then fell short in the championship. So no one is talking about the 73-9 but instead we still have the memories on how dominant Michael Jordan that year that made 72-10 record.

And it will also be a legacy for Tatum and Jaylen Brown, the best duo right now in the NBA to bring that trophy to the Boston Garden and fans again. They almost made it in the previous years, but with the current lineup, I think this is the closest they might get and hopefully they won't blunder that opportunity again.
483  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin create an opportunity to reduce poverty? on: January 19, 2024, 08:50:25 PM
Personally to me I believe the answer to your question is a yes but due to the circumstances we find ourselves how does a poor man acquire Bitcoin at its current price for me I think alt coins can be the saving grace for so many crypto investors especially those who are struggling financially, It’s said that every legitimate digital currency has the potential to move just as Bitcoin has done with that in mind and the current price of some alt coins one should be able to see an opportunity there depending on what sort of investment strategy you are applying.

It really depends on the individual though, I mean for us, who has money, definitely we can put some on Bitcoin and see if grows. But it's not that easy for everyone, and I will say that majority of us here could be lucky to found it, and then earn for whatever we can, (sig campaigns, bounties->convert it to BTC, and others). In countries though that there are poor infrastructure, or at least access to the Internet is not that good, then maybe they are aware of what BTC or crypto is. So BTC shouldn't be treated as like having a power to turn everything around like reducing poverty and other problems in our society. It might help, but totally we still need to work in order to have money to invest in BTC or any other asset for that matter.
484  Economy / Speculation / Re: Short term corrections could be detrimental. on: January 19, 2024, 08:32:53 PM
I would like to think that one last liquidation will come into play before the gradual, choppy uptrend toward and throughout the having. There are also mixed opinions as to how the ETF will actually reflect the demand for Bitcoin within them, whether institutions will buy the Bitcoin (and when) to back the demand from the ETFs, and if the contracts will reflect the correct prices. I've been doing a lot of thinking of this and will share my thoughts soon.

I'm also thinking the same, or at least that's what I learn from those members who gave us their TA, that there will be one leg down before the halving before we can see an uptrend. So maybe this is it, from $47k then to almost $40k, now we are back to $42k.

Or perhaps there will still be one coming in the next coming months as we get closer to April. Obviously there will be demand from institutions, maybe they are just playing their cards right now with the approval of ETF. But news says that BlackRock has put so much money already and most likely to continue accumulating.
485  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: GAMBLING DISORDER on: January 19, 2024, 11:44:33 AM
How can one control the uncontrollable urge to keep gambling despite the toll it takes on once life.

It's getting worse every day. I'm extremely depressed I have thoughts of unaliving myself more often, some times I feel the betting companies manipulate people spiritually to get them addicted where be playing without plans and strategy. Once a bet place get cut, there is this uncomfortable urge to quickly book another one with the plans of recovering the first money lost but it will end up cutting again.
I personally do not believe on spiritual connection with a gambler because even those who uses witchcraft with gambling I saw them fail. 😅 Some gamblers here in my place has this superstitious belief and other sort of sorcery things on them but neither of them became successful with gambling because for me it is really all about luck.

Nah, it's more of the psychology though, this casinos knows how to lure their victims, whether online or offline. And so they play with our emotions, that's why to combat it, we need to be more aware of what gambling can do. That's why there are a lot of advises already like just spend what you can afford to lose, control your bankroll and capital, be aware of the games that you play and what are the odds are and others.

Otherwise, if we are not that mentally strong, sooner or later we might go to that addiction and that is what the OP has share with us. So just be responsible and remember to just enjoy it and learn to be control our emotions to avoid negative consequences in our life.
486  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: How to manage gambling winnings on: January 19, 2024, 07:53:02 AM
Each person has a different strategy when managing their gambling winnings, some invest it in shares, crypto, or save it in the bank. But investing this money is more recommended than saving it because the money will work and can potentially provide returns to gamblers.
I personally prefer to invest the money in Bitcoin because it has more potential and I can sell it whenever I need it. It was also easier to invest money in Bitcoin, because I just had to withdraw my winnings to a wallet on the exchange and accumulate them there.

Assuming though that the winnings is not that big, obviously the first thing to do is withdraw your winnings right away and don't push your luck. And after withdrawing your winnings, separate your capital from your winnings, at least you know how much money you really won and that in worst case, you have your capital back and so with that, you can still continue to play.

And then that is the time that you want to enjoy and buy some coming from the money that you have won. And then just take a break from gambling itself. Sort of resetting and just don't get excited to comeback and think that you can replicate your big win again because there are cases that you will not do it again.
487  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: January 19, 2024, 07:15:15 AM
Speaking of Raptors, they are in a very close game against the Bulls are their homecourt, current score is 105-106 Bulls. But Kobe White's three is being reviewed right now if there is a shot clock violation or he did get it on time.
Unfortunately they loss after an impressive performance against the Heat. Maybe because they are on a back to back game, and one thing is they don't have Siakam who is also a good offensive and defensive player. It was fun to watch though, it was a close one but the Bulls ended it strong and win.

As for the trade, it's obvious that they are done with their rebuilding phase as they have traded their last player from their championship team. Now, it's Barnes to lead the Raptors in their next couple of seasons and then some of their picks from the Siakam trade.
Not sure if this current line up is a playoff roster, but let's see. It's time for Barnes to shine now, he is leading the team so their performance this season matters a lot on him as a leader.

Yeah, it was a very tough lost for the Raptors here and I think Barnes is their new franchise player as he had the ball during the last minute but made some crucial mistakes though and then missing some free throws. Maybe it's just the beginning, missing Pascal Siakam, but I think they can adjust in the next couple of next. I do agree that they look tired in the last seconds of the game, there's no defense, specially when White go inside for a easy two to extend the lead to six. I didn't see any defense on that, no one even bother to raised their hands to contest Kobe White.
488  Economy / Speculation / Re: Buy the DIP, and HODL! on: January 18, 2024, 07:56:51 PM
Another DIP buying opportunity might be coming! I'm not sure how low, or if this correction continues to fall under $40,000, but buying some Bitcoin with any sort of discount should definitely be "greeted" with open arms. Don't miss the opportunity!

Buy the DIP, and HODL!

Prices still holding at $41k, but yeah, who knows, maybe in the next coming days it will be <$40k and so it will be a good buying opportunity again specially for those who have funds and take advantage of the situation.

Obviously, we don't want to see the price going down again as everyone is very bullish specially that we have ETF approvals already. But as we can see, the market is really unpredictable that it went on the opposite side. So yeah, it we will at the dip in a positive way, this is a great chance again to stack up sats and accumulate.
489  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Phemedrone Stealer targeting crypto wallets, do not click URL shorteners on: January 18, 2024, 07:31:23 PM
We've seen a lot of shortcut files recently, and I suggest not to click anything specially from unknown source as we might be the next victims and then this criminals draining our wallets.
This is a good warning to keep us at alert but my concern is even with the known shortcut files it hard to dictate the ones that are gonna contain this malware because I have seen alot of known shortcut files that are replaced with punnycodes shortcuts making it look almost exactly the same with the known shortcut files.

Puny codes is one of the most common attacks being used by cyber criminals. But this is the first time that I have heard that they are now exploiting URL shorteners and then take advantage of a issue on Microsoft Common Vulnerabilities and Exposures (CVE). And I think URL shorteners being a phenomenon now, even is this community I have seen others posting links with this, so now it could at least be ban?

That's why we are advised to use airgapped devices for storing our crypto assets in order to be safe from all this malware attacks.

It might be too complicated for average Bitcoin investors though, so maybe the will used other web wallets mentioned in the article. But we need to learn safety hygiene first so that we can avoid this kind of malware attacks.
490  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling can be a hope restorer if we go about it wisely! on: January 18, 2024, 12:31:50 PM
Absolutely gambling can be a life changing something when the gamblers gamble carefully, but it's not good to put all hope it gambling because it will cause a serious pains when the gamble you predicted and think that the game will enter but at last cuts.
If there is a guarantee that gamble can change ones life from bad to good that means it can also change ones life from good to bad, when a gamblers who's doing well in their business or investment discides to put there hope in gamble by staking higher with half of the profits they are making from business, they will likely run at lose in the business and if the games they are betting is not won their business will run dry because there will be no profits.
But it is good to see the gambler use his winning wisely because that's one of the best things a gambler should do when they win a sufficient amount.

So for us gamblers, not all can really win big and turn his life around or help the individual himself just like what the OP describe in his stories. There are more gambling horror stories as compare to a few who get out of poverty because they win the lottery or just enough for them to change their lives for the better.

There's a lot of lessons to be learn and it's really up to us if we are going to stick with gambling and still continue to have hope for a better. Or stop because it's not the way to make our life, instead look for jobs, study harder and not pick up that first bet that will make us gambling addicts because we are chasing that big win.
491  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: The PCSO Lotto is shrouded in doubt due to the picture of the winner shown on: January 18, 2024, 12:08:51 PM
And if I'm not mistaken, the Senate or Congress has involved themselves again in this mess and wanted to have a investigation and see if there is a real winner or not?

I also read as well that like every week there is a winner, and so that's why many people aroses suspicions that something might be going on inside the lottery in the Philippines that it begs the question as whether there is really a winner, or just people inside colluding for the numbers or deliberately having someone win from within. If this is the case, then shame on the people that held the position in the PCSO.
492  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: January 18, 2024, 11:55:26 AM
Then no trade will happen. I think Lakers are good enough with the current roster, they just face some minor problems but now they are back on the winning track. 2 straight wins against 2 good teams, first OKC and now Dallas (irving and Luka), sure their confidence are now back.

Lakers have to live with their identity, they continue being a good defensive team and they need to protect Davis as he is the key for this team to win a championship again. A healthy Davis + Lebron is a big threat among the teams regardless of their ranking.
I have no doubt that they will protect Davis, I even believe that it is insane to trade him (unless LAL receives an extremely advantageous offer).
That's true, if AD and LJ stay healthy, and if a third player stays constant and helps this duo, LAL could become a dangerous team, especially in the playoffs (if they get a seed, and I think that's possible ).

In the next few days, Lakers will play against the Nets, I believe the LAL will win... Brooklyn had their fourth consecutive loss and Lakers, I can feel that game after game they are more confident, anyway, I believe it will be an interesting game to see.

I agree, it's not that they will just trade Davis without getting picks and younger players to play with Lebron. I think everyone is on the trade block in the Lakers right now and only Lebron James and AD are protected.

It's interesting that Dejonte Murray's name always pop up with the Lakers trade, and now that Siakam is already with the Pacers, I think the Lakers will make aggressive move before the deadline, Lavine is also making some noise so let's see.
493  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will the bitcoin ETF have any impact on the bitcoin price? on: January 17, 2024, 09:23:37 PM
We can see the price crashing since its release.

I would think that it will take a while for the ETF's to have any impact because they were just released.

Crash, if you can call it that, was likely due to people "buying the rumours and selling the news". i.e. those who loaded up earlier when approval of ETFs was uncertain are now taking their profits. Many will be looking to buy back at lower levels.

As for the actual, non-speculative, impact of ETFs - this will be delayed in time. Current demand is probably mostly satisfied with over-the-counter (OTC) deals (e.g. Coinbase's own stash) or bitcoins acquired earlier by the ETFs issuers. Once those run out, they'll have to start buying on the market, driving the price up.

Perhaps it was just a minor dip, because as you have said, they buy the rumor, sell the news and many fall for that trap or trick. Nevertheless,  still good to hear that those ETF's are finally approved, at least we can move on and wait for the halving now as this is the most important events to follow.

Of course, the effect might be delayed, but I speculate that once the halving is done and we commence a bull run, many are going to FOMO on the ETF and it could be the biggest factor for this bull run this year or at least this cycle going into $100k or more.
494  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: January 17, 2024, 08:51:47 PM
I'm taking the Sixers ML against the Nuggets at this home court, currently the odds is @1.83. I think this is already a very attractive odds for a ML and game between two top teams.
Congrats, good pick. Sixers won the game and covered the spread, ML is the safest though. Smiley
Embiid took over, he just proved to Jokic that he is more deserving to win the season MPV award. But with the numbers he missed, not sure if he is still qualified, but a win is a win, it's a big win as what we witnessed is a possible championship rivals.

Suns vs Kings, another great game, I'll pick the Suns in a close match, -2.5 @1.74.

I thought this game is already over for the Suns. Kings were in control of the game, even in the 4th, but damn Suns, they are in business, they make perfect plays in the 4th and their good 3 point shooting was the key for the comeback win. However, you fall short by .5, you lose your bet.

@Hypnosis00, great handicapping due, 2/3 is not bad all.

Yeah, it was a great game between the Sixers and the Nuggets, and it was very close till the end as I have expected. Sixers though and Joel proved that they have the finishing kick and have the defense to play on Murray.

Too bad for my Suns pick, I though it was lost already after the Kings took the lead and never watch the game. But I was surprised that my bet was almost a win as well as they come back.

Wolves vs Pistons -  I will take the Wolves by-11.5 @1.85. Bigger risk, but I think the Wolves can cover the spread.
Pels vs Hornets - I'll go with the Pelicans by -10.5 @1.71.

Congrats to those who win last night. Let's keep the winning streak,  Grin
495  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: 2024 NBA Season on: January 17, 2024, 01:31:00 AM
Very close game between the Nuggets and the Sixers. 2 of the best centers we have right now, the reigning MVP and the former MVP is going at each other, both have 2 personal fouls. I will be biased that I wanted the Sixers to win because I have a bet on them.

But in any case that they've lost in a very close game, I wouldn't mind. I will just enjoy the game as it is and see them trying to best each other. Need those supporting and role players as well to show something in this game. So let's see how it goes.
496  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: [ POLL ] The Unification Fight: FURY vs USYK 17th FEBRUARY 2024 on: January 17, 2024, 12:42:47 AM
Still no undercard and I suspect the press conference for the AJ/Ngannou fight is going to overshadow everything else, which is supposed to be today but I've not heard anything about it so far which is weird so not sure if it's still happening today or not.

Also on February 17 we have UFC 298 - Volkanovski vs. Topuria, plus bunch of other cool fights. UFC even is going to steal some viewers.

The fight is in one month only, and there is almost no promotion of it. Anyone ever saw a banner somewhere? Checked Fury media - he not a single post of him training. Where it is going to be aired? DAZN ? ESPN ? TNT Sports ? Expect fight not to happen. Everyone will again talk how it is impossible to negotiate with other side due to money.

P.S. Imho people are more interested in AJ vs Ngannou and Beterbiev vs Bivol in April.

Usyk though has posted on his Twitter some kettleball training, I can't remember how heavy is it, but he was just throwing and then catching it. But the poster though, it reminds me if BrokeBack mountain movie, Lol, you can search for the synopsis,  Grin.

I've search for the undercard and this is what I've found:

Joe Cordina vs. Anthony Cacace
Sergey Kovalev vs. Robin Sirwan
Isaac Lowe vs. Hasibullah Ahmadi
Moses Itauma vs. TBA Bakhodir
Jalolov vs. TBA
David Nyika vs. TBA

Lame undercard though, seriously Kovalev? And then Cordina?

Is that the best that they can put in this great fight?
497  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: NBA 2023-2024 betting on: January 17, 2024, 12:24:56 AM
It looks like some of you might have gotten some games last night. I was out yesterday so I wasn't able to put any bet.

I'm taking the Sixers ML against the Nuggets at this home court, currently the odds is @1.83. I think this is already a very attractive odds for a ML and game between two top teams.

Suns vs Kings, another great game, I'll pick the Suns in a close match, -2.5 @1.74.
498  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Drug (cocaine) addicts compromises gambling potentials on: January 15, 2024, 11:15:08 AM

* Is gambling really to be blamed in ruining lifes?
Even though the online casino gambling as influences on the massive audience, I don't think it has been in any strategic or physically enforced a compulsory venture to anyone that he must gamble.
I don't see gambling walking to the players instead the players walks to the gambles so, directly and indirectly gambling has an influence but has not path to be blamed over individuals irrepressible living on their caused of gambling.

For a weak person it is but for a strong person its not, it really depends on the character of the gambler, gambling only ruin weak people, the gambling platforms are meant to be an entertainment portal and strong individuals treated gambling it as such but for weak people its their temptation to fulfill their dream that will not and cannot happen in platforms like gambling.
People are quick to blame gambling for their miseries and these people are weak people who think wrongly about gambling, if you know the fact about gambling and you follow the right path I don't think you will be ruined in gambling.
People who have definition about gambling are the one messed up their lives because of gambling.

Yes, we have this kind of discussions with our circle of friends, I mean if you have influenced someone to gamble and then they ruined their lives, it is your fault or if that person is just a weak, he has that personality that he can't control his life and then blame others for what had happen to them.

Many of us here become addicted at some point, but recover in time and then get back in their feet. So it's not gambling per se to blame or even cocaine or whatever drugs for ruining someone's life here. If you don't have control and very weak inside, obviously your life will be miserable. But if you have realized it, then you can make a U-turn for the better and change your lives.
499  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Boxing Speculation, Odds and Predictions on: January 15, 2024, 09:19:40 AM
^^ For sure, Casimero is going after Inoue but he has to wait, and all he can do right now is call him through his social media accounts and it's obvious that it's just for publicity stunt as he knows that his time is running out.
I think Casimero deserve to fight against Inoue, if not only beacuse of the ranking of Casimero, he for sure is the best opponent of Inoue that could potentially beat the Beast. We all know what happen to Casimero, he didn't lose to a fighter, he just made a mistake that's why he was stripped with his belt. So with that, I still think that Casimero is still a dangerous fighter that's why Inoue can't say yes to him.

Inoue is scheduled to fight Nery and then another boxer that Tapales has beaten already. And only after that Casimero might get his chance, but still up to Inoue as Casimero's name is somewhat in the middle as far as super bantamweight goes as he is no longer a champion, so he has no leverage but to create a hype and call Inoue in his social media for publicity.

Next could be Akhmadaliev as he is next in line, but who knows, if Inoue will skip him after Nery, the better, it's good for boxing, as no one would watch Inoue fighting a boxer that was already defeated by a champ he recently defeated. Inoue- Casimero, is more interesting to watch.

Inoue lost his position and I think Nery and Akhmadaliev deserves the number 1 and number 2 spot as the next opponent of of Naoya.

I don't think that Inoue can skip Akhmadaliev as he is the mandatory for one of the belts that Inoue hold. Remember that Tapales took that belt away from Akhmadaliev, so the line goes to Akhmadaliev and that's why he is the next in line.

As as we have discussed, Casimero needs a impressive win in his next fight.

That's definitely one of the saddest moments in someone's life, that multiplier together with the money that they've put on that game is definitely going to be something that will turn around the life of that person but then as misfortune would have it, it denied that person that moment to cash out. Has the person checked if that's the device that's got the problem or it was the website, this is just my conspiracy theory or mindless thought but I do believe that there's a possibility that the website's got something to do with it you know, I don't know if they can do that but that's a possibility. Thankfully, this hasn't happened to me before and I hope that there's not a possibility that it can happen to me.

That's one of the most unfortunate or saddest moment for gamblers though, that kind of missed opportunity. I do have like that kind of experience, I mean, playing online roulette when suddenly it might be my internet connection as the device hang.

And when I came back then number that I wanted to almost bet with big money was then hit and then with a good multiplier to boot (Lightning Roulette). I almost throw my mobile phone that time. But I can't do anything as I can't get it back.
