Metroid, what are your choice of coins to invest?
I always wanted to know
I think you like ETH, it's obvious, but tell us more

The only think I can tell you is that I see the big picture and I think eth is right now the most complete coin to exist and that is where most of my money is in and where most of my money will be going to.

ETH changed a lot and because of those changes I believe on it. I used to be anti-eth till some changes were placed to the network. The most important thing is the network for me and bitcoin is lagging badly on that, bitcoin has a great name and that is it.

What eth network changes are you referring to?  I hate to give up on btc, but I'm with you on eth.  I'm currently around 70% btc, 30% eth.  And I keep thinking I should buy more eth.

It looks like GPU mining death has already started. A mining rig with 6 x GPU RX 5XX series with modded bios is only making 0.0008 BTC daily while in December they were making 0.0016 BTC daily. I hope I am wrong but things are not looking good for GPU mining.

It's going to have to be cut in half about two more times, before I would even consider stopping.  My current daily average for the month is 0.00629 btc ... 31 gpu's 1070ti's, 1080's, 1080ti's, Vega 56's ... NiceHash.  Thinking about switching my Vega rig back to etn.

Prices for graphics cards have decreased, good time to buy, or ideally wait for new cards from nvidia.

Personally I'd just wait another week and see if Nvidia makes any announcements at the GTC next week.

Jihan has enough money.  It's time for someone to rip the head off of Bitmain.  Whether it be Samsung or technology that provides defense against ASIC's.
485  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How much is 1 bitcoin worth? on: March 20, 2018, 04:55:57 PM
1 bitcoin is currently at $8.647,39. It's this quite high because it has been a very bad week to crypto market. I think bitcoin regains its stand in the coin market for 2 months  Undecided

It will always be worth as much as someone else is willing to pay you for it.
487  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Control 6 RIGS on: March 20, 2018, 01:30:12 AM
From inside my network, I use VNC.  From outside my network I use teamviewer to remote into a machine on my network and then use VNC from there.  As far as controlling power goes, I use switched pdu's.

If you're in front of the rig.  I just use a combo touchpad wireless mouse/keyboard and move the usb dongle around.  Along with the hdmi cable for the monitor I have sitting there.
488  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Mining shed in the backyard - what do I need to know? on: March 20, 2018, 01:20:28 AM
Who even thinks about starting up a serious mining operation in a time like this?

You do know profits are way WAY down, right?

Me.  I'm running 31 GPU's and planning my next move in terms of expansion.  That doesn't mean I'm going out and buying overpriced gpu's tomorrow, but there is plently to think about and plan for.

there is a flood of barely used cards on craigslist right now in my area. if i had the cash on hand i would get a few but i think they will continue to decrease in price making it where when i do want to expand. currently have 33 gpu running. 30 in my backyard shed and 3 inside the house.

I'm waiting for next gen cards and maybe selling off my 1070ti's in the near future.  Don't really need to sell them to fund the purchase of newer cards, but selling off old gpu's at the right time seems to be part of the game.  I could sell them for $50 more than I paid for them on eBay right now.  Hopefully we'll see an announcement from Nvidia next week.

I only bought 1 1080ti. If I would have bought a rig I would be I the red and very upset

Tried to tell you not to buy a 1K 1080ti ... Lol.

492  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: how to prepare for summer? on: March 19, 2018, 06:51:14 PM
Your exhaust needs to be higher than your intake...

There is a huge downside to this. If your are pulling air out of your mining room faster than you can pull it in the intake you will create a vacuum in a perfectly sealed room. That said, I'm sure you don't have a perfectly sealed room. So what will really happen is you will begin pulling cold air from the rest of your house / apartment leading to increased cooling (or heating in the winter) bills.

I suggest you seal off the room as much as you can and equalize it.

I am not an expert, but I can tell you that you will increase your cooling / heating bills if you pull out more air than you can pull in (when you don't have a sealed room).

In a sealed grow tent, pulling out more than you bring in is just fine...

Not saying that they are and I'm really not sure how to test it, but just going by fan specs, the intake is 3120cfm and the exhaust is 3190cfm, so it's only a difference of 90cfm.  I'm not sure what that would do in terms of extra heating or cooling costs.

I can cover the ceiling vent and stick a towel or something under the door, but I'm not sure what more I could do to seal it off any better than that.
493  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: how to prepare for summer? on: March 19, 2018, 06:27:59 PM
Something else to consider on air circulation.  This wasn't something that I was even thinking about until Phillip pointed it out to me.  Your exhaust needs to be higher than your intake and they shouldn't be on the same wall.  That's exactly why I'm going to use the window or both windows in my mining room for intake and exhaust through the ceiling.

Also, the air that you are circulating does not need to be cooler than your gpu temps.

I think he was just hoping he would get rich overnight mining with one gpu, so he could move out of his parents basement.

If you can't come up with something that will work... One thing you can do is take pictures of your gpus to sell on ebay or craigslist. I do expect the markets to be flooded with people who can't handle the heat.

@gotminer - Be careful about exhausting into your attic, especially when the summer is over and you move into winter. What will happen in the winter is all of the humidity that you exhaust into the attic will freeze, accumulate ice and then when it gets warm it will all melt and you will have water spots on your ceiling and possible mold...

Yeah I've thought about that a little.  Might be a better idea to exhaust through the attic to the outside.
497  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: how to prepare for summer? on: March 19, 2018, 03:16:54 PM

Hi,
I get temperatures of my GPU's from 55-75 °Celsius and we have still  winter (outside 0 and inside 22 °C).

How to prepare for summer (outside 35-35  °C, inside 27-29°C without air con),
how am I going to cool this stuff and not to spend too much money?

How are you going to cool it?

Thanks for suggestions.

You're going to have to circulate the air in the room at a high rate.  My mining room is an upstairs bedroom.  I'm bringing air in from the outside with this fan ...

And I'm going to exhaust into my attic with this fan ...

It's hard to dig bitcoin, it's hard, and it's better to buy some bitcoins and keep it.

Maybe you didn't use the right shovel.

oooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhh nooooooooooooooooooo, gpu mining profitability is almost dead and so are you trolls hehe, just do not forget before you commit suicide to use your last money to buy a fabricated coffin for the ultimate resting and peace feature hehe

Lol.  I'm starting to warm up to you.  You're so much more fun than a month ago  Grin
