Nr. 8 in volume last 24h on cryptsy now. Not bad for a 15 month old coin.  Smiley
482  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Anoncoin chat thread (including history) on: September 07, 2014, 05:37:40 PM
I checked it.

Cryptsy DOES NOT show the whole order book.

Plus we can't be sure about the bots filling orders in seconds and giving volume to the market.
Still I dislike what's happening^^

Look at the order depth now. The small buy orders are gone and you can see the actual buy orders.
483  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Poll] What anonymous coin will succed? on: September 03, 2014, 09:11:40 PM
So it seems people are sick and tired of anonymous coins already.
Faster than I thought  Undecided

As expected. Atleast you count on anoncoins ongoing development no mather what happens.
484  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: WDC, DGC, MEC, CGB, ANC - the darlings of the last wave = dead.... what now? on: September 01, 2014, 08:11:25 PM
Lol. You have to remove anc from that list. There have never been more active development or a larger community behind the coin then there is now.  Smiley
485  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Anoncoin chat thread (including history) on: August 31, 2014, 06:58:25 AM
There have never been so many shill accounts and sockpuppets posting in this thread before as there is now. That only means that there are bagholders with shitcoins who views anoncoin as a serious threath. Rightfully so. As an advice to those clowns: even if you have lost 50-75% of your investment buying darkscam, vootscam, bytescam, cloakscam etc, its not to late to dump the rest and buy anc.  Smiley
486  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Anoncoin chat thread (including history) on: August 30, 2014, 07:26:51 AM
This attack shows how using a myriad of AuXPoW chains could avoid this problem.  As by using a myriad of chains then the attacker would need to attack more than one chain.  While using AuxPoW with the biggest coin on each chain would greatly increase the network hashrate.  I think you should quickly adopt AuxPoW with litecoin how Dogecoin has just done so to help stop any potential future attacks.  Then the myriad with NeoScrypt Feathercoin merge-mining and Lyra2 Vertcoin merged-mining can brought in a later date.  Plus it may be worth including Cryptonight Monero AuxPoW with the myriad.  Plus possibly X11 Darkcoin merge-mining included in the Myriad.  To have a total of three to up to possibly five myriad chains all in AuxPoW with the biggest networked coin on each chain.  As with a myriad of five chains then an attacker would need to control three of the five AuxPoW chains to control the network.
Not being a miner, I am leaning towards Crytponight as my favorite proof-of-work algorithm. It is heavily CPU oriented, which will put off mining centralization for some time.

Perhaps there are similar cpu-oriented algorithms out there, but cryptonight addresses another important point: If we go toward merged mining in the future, which coin would we want to do this with? The only coin that I know of that is putting privacy first, and for which the developers have some integrity, is Monero. Given the new partnership between the two developers in PrivacySolutions.no, if we went in this direction, this choice seems to be a no brainer.

The only other algorithm out there I have some respect for is Peercoin's proof-of-stake (though I would prefer a 100% proof-of-stake system...). A built in inflation of ~1% is something that we could probably live with. No one would get rich mining via POS, which is fine by me. Unfortunately, I don't think that POS will work once Zerocoin is implemented. POS would probably only work with ANC balances (which can be "staked"), and not with zerocoins that are in an anonymous escrow pool. I suspect that about a third of ANC will be locked up in zerocoins, which will limit the number of people mining via POS. It is possible that I am wrong, and that zerocoins could be staked like ANC, but this would probably require some important modifications to the original algorithm, and with zerocoin development going on, combined with the arrival of scrypt asics, I don't think that we will have the time to implement this.

Going with Cryptonight Monero AuxPoW would just be handing all the newly hashed coins over to botnet 'owners'.  Having a GPU friendly hashing algorithm helps to keep the botnets away to a larger extent.  Vertcoin is planning on changing to the Lyra2 hashing algorithm.  Which will be GPU friendly plus the Vertcoin core dev team are committed to do what it takes to avoid ASIC centralisation.  Also there's soon to be Feathercoin's new NeoScrypt algo which should also be GPU friendly.  Then there's Darkcoin's X11 hashing algo which is GPU biased as well.  There's three GPU friendly hashing algorithms.  Scrypt merged-mining with Litecoin would be the quickest and easiest solution for now to secure the network.  While the myriad could be added in later.

Peercoin is interesting in that it promotes the running of full nodes through staking.  Which in turn helps to avoid the dangers of the likes of Sybil attacks.  Although as stated Peercoin is of course inflationary in nature with no hard cap on the total amount of coins to be issued.
Could you describe what the problem with botnets is? I am admitedly ignorant here, but from what I understand, this is not a big deal.

Centralization. One entitiy in control of a huge portion of the hashrate. But as long as they don't have insentive to attack the network it will not be any problem. On the other side, botnets will dump the coins so you will get more supply on the exchanges then you might have had with a more desentralised network with more miners wanting to hold their coins.
487  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Ixcoin TODO on: August 30, 2014, 06:26:29 AM

Anybody with a great reputation and no need for money [ie. BCX] wanna lend me 3 Bitcoins for a few months?  I can give you 100,000 iXCoins as collateral against the 3 Bitcoins which you can hold until I pay you back.  That should make the loan totally risk free, but I would need to totally trust you as I would be totally devastated should I get robbed of that 100,000 IXC.

Let me know cause I'm running out of options and I do NOT want to sell any more of my iXCoins.

Regards...

what do u need the BTC for vlad?  have to pay some bills?

u could open a donation fund.  after all u did for ixcoin im sure many would wanna donate to u?

many small sums make up 3 btc easily, no ?

~CfA~

Yes, I've had to sell hundreds of thousands of my IXC over the last few months to pay bills and I can't do it anymore as I'm selling at a big loss as it is and I've sold the vast majority of my coins.

Donation fund?  Haha.  I would be thrilled to just get a LOAN fund and pay it back when I'm on my feet but I can't even get most people here to pitch in coins for improving iXCoin, how in the world can I expect to get personal help from donations?

Seriously, the thought didn't even cross my mind to ask for financial help.  And It doesn't feel right since I'm supposed to be helping iXCoin and this community and not the other way around.

Really sad, shitty situation to be in right now.

So Vlad, in this thread you are saying that you needed to sell your presious ixcoin to pay bills??

But you are posting all over the alt coin section investigatiing and buying multiplie other coins. You said you bought 1 btc of maxcoin, a few million earthcoin +++.

Why say that you sell your ixcoin to pay bills, when you actually sell them to buy other coins?
488  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Anoncoin chat thread (including history) on: August 27, 2014, 02:30:06 PM
May I suggest that we stop mining ANC, and let it how it is on 1.2M

I think drk do that from 84M to 22M

 Wink

That is an incredible stupid idea. Almost as bad as your name change suggestion. Why would you want anoncoin to act like a scam coin?
489  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Anoncoin chat thread (including history) on: August 23, 2014, 07:57:45 AM
Same Problem.

It makes me mad all the time  Angry

And It's not good at all for beginners who want to buy into ANC when there are problems with Buying and Withdrawing.

Same problem. Tried to withdraw from bleutrade 2 days ago and the transaction still havent gone trough. To fix this should be highest priority.
490  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Feathercoin on: August 21, 2014, 07:37:27 PM
Never heard of it tbh...
This must be because you're from the newer generation.
Back in '13 it was quite popular if you ask me and there was a lot of going on about it. Due to the high quantity of coin releases FTC was kinda abandoned/forgotten.
Sadly I do not think that the future is bright for FTC.

Feathercoin was popular because of the enthusiastic community lead by the incredible well spoken Chris Ellis. Without the community feathercoin is just a useless clone. The only thing keeping it alive now is btc-e.

Feathercoin was the first alt coin i discovered and what drew me to the alt coin scene. But i would not touch it now.
491  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Anoncoin chat thread (including history) on: August 21, 2014, 03:30:45 PM
So refreshing to see real development. Great work on all your projects!

It might soon be time for the community to push on to get on more exchanges (with volume). Do anyone think that we might be able to lower the required "bribes" if we present the innovations to the exchanges? Short term it could bring them some volume, but focus should be on the real world adoption anoncoin actually might achive in the coming months/years.

Is there anyone here who are mining earthcoin with scrypt asics?

I want to help secure the network, but I don’t know much about mining. If someone can advice on what to buy (low price range) and how to set up the asic that would be great!
493  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][EAC] EarthCoin - EAC v1.3.1 Now Available! Now on BTC38 Exchange on: August 12, 2014, 02:42:36 PM
Ladies and Gentlemen,

We see a lot of discussion on the forums asking when the value of Earthcoin (EAC) is going to rise. The devs are launching huge initiatives, some on our own, some with other coins. To the whole Earthcoin community, thank you for believing in what this coin represents and for contributing to our many projects. You will be impressed by our path to mainstream adoption.

To all long term and high net investors in Earthcoin, please PM me regarding an account pool we are generating to raise the coin's value and the value of your investment (earthcoin@earthcointalk.org).

Glad to see there's at least active development here.  That's more than most coins have right now.

Cheers!

Is this one of your 400-500x candidates Vlad2Vlad?
494  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: [Poll] What anonymous coin will succed? on: July 30, 2014, 07:12:15 AM
Anoncoin will succeed in the end. The only coin with developers not in it for the money. The scams and pump and dump coins will all fade away and be forgotten.

495  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CryptoBiz Magazine Cover! | Cryptogenic Bullion | CGB on: July 23, 2014, 06:06:02 PM
The wallet seems to use 3% of my cpu (a Haswell). Not minting, 7/8 connections.
Is it supposed to? Or a feature to be ironed out?
It's in the OP:
"To qualify for interest an investor must keep their funds unspent in their wallets for a minimum of 30 days (for 1.2% interest), and up to a maximum of 90 days (1.5% interest)."
You don't need to have the wallet open all period, just keep your coins in.

But maybe something as simple as a competition where people post screens shots where they have solved a POS block, and a random winner is picked for a prize?

I like this idea of promoting minting from POS. The more coins in personal wallets the better. Banks provide some interest on savings but now crypto's can perfectly do this too, people should be more aware of this so they can store more of their 'money' in other ways. Not put all in one basket they say and a bank is just one basket.

I thought another payment provider for crypto's, but it does something else, seems to work with Coinpayments: http://www.picca.co.uk/
Btw has updated design and all, looking good: https://www.coinpayments.net

Development Workshop - CGB PoW/PoS Hybrid Security Model - Protocol Improvements

Please also see the Reddit post for further discussion.

PoS security participation is a very important consideration. The next client rebalances the minimum times to 1 week (1.2%) and 30 days (1.5%), but of course discussion is ongoing. The intent of this is to bring in more PoS blocks. This, combined with merged mining on the PoW side (hybrid) should provide for a more robust security stance.

I had another idea that we could have the protocol reward all unclaimed interest at each block to the winner of the minting process. So they would receive the standard 1.2 or 1.5%, plus the interest accumulation for that block (or tick), of all wallets who are sitting yet again unclaimed while already at max return. Some fundamentals: Currently CGB rewards 1.5% every 90 days, or quarterly. If we wait for a year to mint, we will only receive one quarter's interest, even though we saved it for a year.

In this scenario, that interest that could have been claimed for the other 3/4 of the year will have gone to active participants as a greater reward, without diminishing the *intended* inflationary profile of CGB. In the current environment, we know that all coins are not being used for minting. This affects the 1.5% (out of 2% total) of our target inflation. I am sure the exact data can be pulled from the blockchain (and would encourage anyone capable to give it a try). So we can say for sure that this measure would increase inflation, from whatever its at (likely below 1.2% I would guess), to the intended range of between 1.2 and 1.5% depending on which timeline is more popular.

This is a small detail but CGB was mined into existence, with a flow still being produced via PoW security. We now take this existing CGB and create new CGB in the form of interest. The parallel with gold and silver coin production here is why I prefer to use the term "minting," but staking is OK too. An interesting thing to note about PoS minting is that the interest provided is what they call a zero sum game. This means that for a real increase in the value of your holdings, someone else had to not mint their coins, thus giving you relatively more. In other words, if everyone got 1.5% interest, the relative value of all holdings would remain unchanged.

If a system like this were to be implemented, we could see a real boost in payoffs for winning a PoS block. It may even spur competition to spread the most coin age across available blocks to try and win more blocks, and not just focus on your plain interest. I think we could see bigger wallets broken down to competitive sizes. Hmm... Had not yet thought this part through too much yet. Suggestions welcome.

Pros and cons of adjusting the reward itself have been discussed here.

papersheepdog, Canada

I am confused now and forgive me if this has been asked a million times before but is the 1.5% interest per year or per quarter?  You said in the above post that Currently CGB rewards 1.5% every 90 days, or quarterly, but I have read elsewhere that interest is 1.5% annually.  If it were 1.5% quarterly then that is more like 6% annually.  So just to be clear, if I left my wallet open and staking continually what would the interest be?  My next question is if the interest is only 1.5% per year, is there a reason why it is so low.  What would be the advantage to me as an investor investing in CGB over a coin which offers 5% or 10% per year?

1,5% i annually, but to achive it you must mint when the coin age is exactly 90 days. If you mint every 30 days you get 1% annual interest.

If a coin have 10%, 100% or 1,5% annually POS interest is completely irrelevant. Your total % of the money supply will be the same either way. But you will problably be much better of with CGB and 1,5% since there will be fewer people minting for that low interest. With fewer minting your total % of the money supply will increase.
496  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: CryptoBiz Magazine Cover! | Cryptogenic Bullion | CGB on: July 21, 2014, 06:46:58 PM
Don't be fooled by the pricedip, only about 1% of all existing CGB's have been sold this cheap during the past month on cryptsy.  Wink

True. It would only cost 2,31 BTC to buy the 100 lowest sell orders on cryptsy (5763,2cgb). And that would bring the price up 61,7%.  Smiley

Don't do it.  Smiley
498  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official Anoncoin chat thread (including history) on: July 17, 2014, 07:28:17 PM
Is the Zerocoin implementation going to be trustless? As I understand it, there's a key that needs to be destroyed. If that can't be overcome, this coin has no future.

You just shook my knowledge and belief,
right now selling all of the ANC, and you set buy order,
then I will buy DRK, total anonymity with only 2 millions premined

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=560138.700

Instead of being a moron, can you just answer my question?

My knowledge is not for everyone, and was formed by reading and spending of my own time.
I advise you not to listen to anyone, go study and you will not be in doubt.

I can not be put down to yours level, I tried a couple of times, but it's hard.
Better for you to stay in your beliefs.
You asked and answered to the question yourself...

The course will cost you, I will accept even a DRK payments.

I heard you could get an ugly rash if you download the darkcoin wallet. At the very least, you should wear some thick gloves. Smiley

Anoncoin is now accepting donations:

Acoin7tkEib9d8BfomQYUK66z5fhwN3DgV

Most of your donations will be used for the setting up of bounties for public relations work, but some may also be used for specific code development tasks as well. Specific bounties that we envision for the immediate future include

  • Creation of press releases
  • Writing of Blog entries
  • Writing of popular articles about Anoncoin
  • Writing of in-depth articles on the wiki and
  • Web design and support.

As soon as enough ANC has been donated, we will set up a dedicated page describing the conditions attached to these bounties.

For your info, the above public address is owned by the lead developer, Meeh.

It would be good to have some list of donors?
Maybe it would speed up the desire for donating.

One last point then I will drop this userid, I know I've irritated a few people.

Donations for writing articles *yawn*, press releases and so on.

Making the focus of anonymity political would solve that problem.

A press release like 'Anoncoin is creating country specific solutions to anonymity. Currently we are working on a wallet that would be easily used in Whateverthefuckistan and would allow users to hide the wallet from computer searches' etc etc, could easily be picked up by a major news outlet and syndicated. Some thought would have to go into side issues of course, you don't want to read in the jew york times '20 n koreans executed for having anc wallets'.

There would be plenty of donations and plenty of offers of help from top notch amateurs.

On the other hand, 'please donate so we can write articles about our coin' doesn't cut it.

Oh wait, 'please donate and we will put your name on the donation hero list'. No disrespect intended drAgon, i like all of your other comments and learned a bit from them. That one flopped though.

auf wiedersehen

I just wanted to say, don't drop your username. I don't agree with everything you write, but your focus on the political quality of anoncoin is refreshing. There has to be room for different opinions.
