I remember first BTC crash at winter/spring 2011 when BTC had fallen from 30$ ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif) Few months later I've been mining BTC for several days (about 0.7 BTC / day / 6950) and sold @ 5$ ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.bleend.net%2Fwp-content%2Fuploads%2F2013%2F03%2FBut-why-meme.png&t=663&c=zO4ArOlwWAHhSA)

0.256 eurocents = 0.35 dollarcents per kilowatthour Some countries are actively protecting the environment (and mankind's future) more than others. They are protecting their pockets, thats all.

Is open wallet necessary to get a stake?
|
|

Get pencil, some piece of paper, calculator and do your research. You can chceck mining pools stats for current mining efficiency, exchanges for current prices. Make some effort to keep your business going.

Supporting Emission Trading is a terrible idea.

+ millionz Few weeks ago I've completely changed my approach to mining. I realised, that I have machine for making cheap bitcoins (according to my electricity costs 1 BTC = 360$ now) that I'm investing in some PoS coins. Now feel like investor ![Cool](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cool.gif) Not like kid that is gaining pocket-money ![Cheesy](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif)

As OP likes car examples I'd give another one: do you think that engine that consumes 50% more petrol and makes 50% more noise is obviously more efficient? Also this: I don't see where's a serious bottleneck or some conspiracy. Since X11 (and hefty, keccak and those others from sph-sgminer) is not memory hard, you're not stressing the memory controller, L2 caches and the ram chips.
You're used to scrypt, see it as a "reference" and say that others must not be optimized due to low power use and thermals. However, scrypt is the odd one out in the first place, a complete card fuck like Furmark or some videocard stress test.
Open your mind a bit guys, scrypt is not a final achievement of mining technology, even if you would like to.

I've been mining and watching DOGE from the first hours (first page of bitcointalk thread lol) and it was interesting phenomenon. That coin was spontaneously paying more and more attention, with no logical reason. But I know, that was the pure fun to deal with this coin. That was something new in crypto world, a real breathe from serious looking coins that promise pure economical benefits in the future. Of course there was some demand of making quick-bucks, but suddenly people didn't want to leave there shibes as another hype-pump-dump coin after. I think that many of DOGE owners start to bagholding crypto currencies for the first time.
And now... No forced meme/funny clone of litecoin, or even well developed pro-currency can repeat DOGE success. If there will be the next coin with such impact force it will reveal itself, as DOGE did, but won't be found even after long searches.

How coin (VTC), that is being mined by some multipools, could be so profitable? I mean in short term (mine & dump).
|
|
|
Now my rig is running for one of two purposes:
1st: Mining new algo coins to hold them in long term.
2nd: Mining coins for BTC to invest in some PoS coins - it's cheaper and easier to pay electricity bill than moving FIAT on some BTC exchanges.
