If NXT is going places (and that is what all of the bagholders say, changeless day after changeless day), why hasn't it bothered to do so since late September? However successful Blackcoin is. It will not 'topple" Bitcoin. Blackcoin is not even anywhere near the first rung of the ladder on challenging Bitcoin's dominance and reserve status in the cryptocurrency economy. Plenty of "crypto's" have trod where BC is treading now and none of them have even made a dent so don't start getting delusions of grandeur. Just ask anyone who's ever tried to get an ETF for a 'crypto' passed through the regulatory authorities. Great rise but lets keep our hair on. I say that in terms of long term hope/potential, and also as a point that NXT will certainly NOT ever do that, nor come close. I do however think we will soon occupy #2. Soon meaning a couple of weeks? Months? ...either way, I make no claims as a savant, just happy to be participating. Haha, I'm also bald as a doorknob, so about the hair - too late. |

Can we please make prominent these two key strengths of Blackcoin on the OP?
- 100% proof of stake means no wasteful proof of work mining (bitcoin miners cost over $15 million dollars of electricty every day to run. If Blackcoin was worth the same, it would be a fraction of that).
- 10 second transaction times. A lot of people seem to think it's 60 seconds because that was what it was when the coin was proof of work, but now we are proof of stake
I see topics asking what are the strengths of Blackcoin and I rarely see those above mentioned, when they are pretty key.

Really? I got no nodes is my config file.. and its syncing.... just let the wallet open for a while... And maybe you can try addnode=http://prosper.prominer.org addnode=http://prc.cloudminers.net Those are pools.... This worked for me with other coins... And if that doesnt work, Send Inmean a PM or contact through facebook or something... Really weird there arent any nodes in the OP... He said at some point that the way the wallet is built/set up, no nodes are needed in the conf. ...not that I know about how anything under the hood works, I just remember that being mentioned... |

We are considering Blackcoin, but at present the only slightly interesting technical aspect of it is that it's now fully proof of stake. That's not a huge technical revolution in my opinion, considering other coins have been migrating to this for a long time now. If you really don't like the coin and think it is stupid, a scam, etc. then don't post on the coin's thread. That should be pretty easy.
You got that brutally wrong - some of us care about cryptos, and are willing to take it to the scammers, in a (perhaps futile) bid to assist the viability of the concept in general. I can understand that, but at times it does look less like caring and more like outright hating/trolling which can't be good for cryptos either. You don't want outsiders, who are ultimately the ones who need to be impressed by cryptos to come around and see shitcoins but you also don't want them to see all this infighting. I'd say the infighting is worse than the shitcoins. If a coin sucks, even this one, the market will eventually tell us that but the infighting is just hard to discern from actual caring or just trolling. I HAVE seen infighting destroy a few coins, no doubt. I am mostly a troll, in this case, but not one with a chip on my shoulder. Honestly, good luck - a countrycoin that does what it says (for more than 0.005% of the population, or whatever) would be a major coup, no political pun intended... |

I'm really interested in those statistics , can you provide a link for it:? Also , I don't give that much tought for the rest of your claims  . I think the top few are MintPal cold storage wallets though. Hmm , let's hope not. If a single exchange hold that much , i'm having mtgox nightmares I don't think you have to worry about that really... but again - if you use an exchange as a wallet, you're asking for trouble. On the other hand for an exchange with thousands of accounts to have $2M-3M in the most widely traded coin on the site is nothing. I would guess a few of the other top ones are Cryptsy. Just think about it - if there are buys (and sells) of 100-200BTC occuring on MintPal - then the exchange has to have both 100-200BTC and 100-200BTC worth of BC on the exchange at the same time. Of course this is simply for these two trades to occur, and obviously they also have all of the BTC and BC represented in every other trade. What was volume yesterday? Naturally, there isn't that much there as traders move back and forth... but probably a third of the volume is/was stored in MintPal wallets at some point in time. I only keep what I trade with on there, but it's big enough that just ~2000 people keeping the same amount would fill up those wallets right there... and I'm a tiny minnow in this ocean of whales now. If they own those wallets they own around 10% of the coins. 10% of the coins in the hands of an exchange is not good. It just screams for people to start manipulating the coin and I don't wanna see this happening with bc. Too bad we can't trace those I thought that was their storage for OUR coins on the sites - not theirs. (unless they Gox us, of course...) |

Pointing out a legitimate bubble is not FUD. There's no uncertainty here. There are clear patterns in the alternate digital community and I provided two good examples. Each time there's a downturn in digital currencies some random coin is always pump and then left to die.
There's no incentive for subsequent investors to come in and buy BC when it's valued at $10 million as the ROI isn't there anymore. Meanwhile the Whales, who bought in for pennies when the capitalization was less than $100K, have incentive to convert their BC into BTC or a portfolio of new alternates.
People were saying the same thing when it went up to 4890 sat and then dropped to 2000. They said the same thing when it jumped up to 9380 and settled down to 5000. Then it went back up to 9199 and settled down to 7100. You're not very good at seeing patterns. Perhaps you shouldn't be investing your money in alt coins. Ad hominem / straw man are logical fallacies and not valid arguments. Though I didn't expect any better from a blackcoin bagholder. By the way - it's only my third post on this thread and they were all posted minutes ago, so you're mistaking me with other people. There was no straw man here - BC has community beyond all but three other coins, it has constant buy pressure from intelligently created shitcoin weeding pools, it has just gotten the public eye - again, more than any other coin but three. It improves upon Bitcoin in every way - transaction speed, POS (with a reasonable interest rate), NO premine, et cetera. You DO seem to have trouble recognizing patterns, since the charts are there, SURROUNDING you with data you fail to observe. Maybe if you spent more then a few minutes looking for something to complain about, and actually studied this and other coins, you'd see the obvious, until then it is pretty damned valid for us to note your unwillingness to clearly interpret the present data. |
