I don't understand why it sounds like every users must post in this forum and make sure their post are constructive when there's no rules about that?

That's rule #1! Literally.

1. No zero or low value, pointless or uninteresting posts or threads. [1][e]

You can post what do you want regardless it's wall of text, one paragraph, one sentence, one word, or just an emoji/image without any letter. Your account, your desire, there's no need to impress other user if you don't want that.

Well, you can post whatever you want, but just know that if it breaks the rules, the mods may take it down. This isn't really about trying to impress other users with your knowledge or language skills. It's more about respecting others in the community and following the basic guidelines.
482  Economy / Reputation / Re: My Grandma is in a critical situation. Asking everyone for help. on: December 15, 2023, 03:05:23 PM
Thank you for the advice. I will be busy with the MRI for some time. Also some other tests.

Don't be ridiculous! It's unlikely you'll be "busy with the MRI".  Generally only medical staff are allowed in the MRI room with patients during scans.  At most, you might hang out in the waiting area, fiddling with your phone.  So, either you're exaggerating or you're simply unaware of the protocols.

When I get the chance I will apply for a loan. @Shasan if you can see this mention, I will dm you shortly when I get the chance. Thank you everyone!

But, you did apply for a loan with @shasan just two days ago. (The day before your grandma supposedly had a stroke.) However, you later deleted that post and created this thread where you claim you do not know how to apply for a loan.  Is this just a coincidence?
483  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: Secure Seed and Passphrase/PIN on: December 15, 2023, 01:02:33 PM
Long Term is the 12 word seed going to really always protect your funds?  is a 24 word seed secure with the rate of AI and Quantum advancements? Even with a passcode and a pin.

Despite its rapid advancement, generative AI algorithms will never be able to crack the true randomness used to generate seed phrases, regardless whether you have 128-bit, or 256-bit entropy.  So, the choice of the length of your seed phrase, whether it's 12 or 24 words, doesn't impact its security much. As for quantum computers, one of the biggest concerns is that one day these machines could crack the widely used RSA and Elliptic Curve Cryptography algorithms, which are the backbone of online banking, and sensitive financial and data transfers, not just Bitcoin.  But there's nothing you as individuals can do about it, as the entire internet will need to adapt to this new reality.

And then what about a physical attack?

What about it? Physical attacks have always been a concern, and they aren't going anywhere. Yet, I still think it's much easier to protect digital assets from such attacks than it is to protect physical assets like your wallet, or smartphone.

At think there are various people like that here but I just have to let you know that it is better you take one step seriously and get it right than taking multi of steps and get them all wrong at where the system demand that rightful ness is a priority.

But hey now didn't you just do the same thing here? Did you stop and ponder this topic before posting it? Give enough thought to the content and how you presented it, or proofread it for grammar and spelling errors? Of course, there's no need to be perfect, but even a basic grammar and spelling check can go a long way in making your posts more professional.

486  Other / Meta / Re: Mixers to be banned on: December 14, 2023, 01:31:24 PM
Basically who here would picket the Kremlin with a sign that says "fuck you Putin end the war"

It's not a very good analogy because in the democracy of the "free world" we value and enjoy freedom of expression. So, you're pretty much allowed here to say things like "Fuck you Biden, stop the war!"

Not many of us, so why ask theymos to protest against multiple governments.

Not all protests against governments are inherently or universally negative. Especially when they advocate for human rights.

(Just to be clear, I'm talking in general. I'm not advocating that theymos should openly oppose laws or regulations in this case.)
487  Economy / Economics / Re: my mum want to make a lot of money, money can fix everything, me hurt not import on: December 14, 2023, 12:55:22 PM
I dunno if this is some kinda symbolic tale or what, but it sounds like your mom is puttin' a crap ton of pressure on you to drive this busted truck, even though it's basically a death trap.  She's also makin you responsible for rakin' in a truckload of cash, which ain't fair one bit and  it ain't right for her to put you in this position.

I'd suggest you to have a heart-to-heart with your mom about how this makes you feel.  Explain to her that you're freaked about drivin' this piece of junk and you ain't down with the crazy amount of responsibility shes droppin' on your shoulders.  She's gotta find some other ways to make bank, and she cant keep this money squeeze on you.
488  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Who should quit, and why? on: December 14, 2023, 11:40:11 AM
As you've noticed, most of gamblers are men than woman because

That is because women are busy at the kitchen.

Well, I wouldn't say it's completely untrue that women tend to do more housework, even today.  But that statement is still an old-fashioned stereotype and pretty sexist too.  Nowadays in most Western relationships the partners divvy up the chores evenly - it's not just one person's domain anymore. So yeah, that whole women do housework idea belongs back in the 1950s as far as I'm concerned.
489  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: how can the community support newcomers in navigating the crypto space? on: December 14, 2023, 10:58:21 AM

With a little support and encouragement, newcomers can feel more comfortable and confident in navigating the crypto space. What do you think?

I understand the intent behind this post may have been well-meaning, but it seems to make some unfair assumptions.  Perhaps we could reframe the conversation in a more constructive way - focusing on how we can continue supporting new members while also recognizing the great work many contribute here already.  Before you posted this topic, did you even check out this board? Have you seen any cases where new members weren't given the warmest welcome by the old-timers?

Do you have any ideas to add to the list  :

Perhaps we should instead encourage newcomers to engage in some personal effort, rather than expecting everything to be served to them on a golden platter with a cherry on top?

A radical concept, I know. But maybe, just maybe, they could take a few minutes out of their busy lives to actually read the forum rules and guides, search for existing threads, or even just use a little common sense. After all, who would want to actually put in some legwork and learn something for themselves?

490  Other / Meta / Re: Mixers to be banned on: December 14, 2023, 09:20:32 AM
snip

You don't have to constantly follow all the posts in this thread since theymos updated the OP with the new rules. To your specific question, I think this applies:

- Mixer URLs will be automatically wordfiltered out, but you can still discuss mixers otherwise.

So I guess discussions regarding scam accusations and other aspects of a particular mixer site will be allowed unless they clearly serve as promotions. But keep in mind that the direct url to the mixer site might be automatically filtered out.

Thank you for the detailed answer, but I wanted to point out that you did not answer the most important part of my question, which relates to the right of the mixer to join the discussion in cases where he is directly involved, whether that is for explanation or to remove suspicion about him. It is logical that there is an account that has the right to say that I follow such-and-such mixer (with proof of course provided) and to speak in his name as an official representative to discuss a specific situation and never for advertising purposes.

Good point. It is possible that there will be some marginal cases where a mixer service is suspected of being a scam unfairly, so it would be useful if their (un)official representative could address the community publicly and share their side of the story. I guess that in such situations the community will have to make an opinion based only on the evidence presented.

Am I missing something? I thought APAC stands for Asia Pacific, which is a pretty big region, right? It goes from China in the north all the way to New Zealand in the south. So why Cambodia?

I'm pretty sure @BitcoinGirl.Club is just kidding - in any case Cambodia is a better choice than NK Wink

We can only speculate. I hear people are pretty happy with their government there... At least that's what everyone says when asked. Wink
492  Other / Meta / Re: Forum unusable with Tor on: December 13, 2023, 02:36:25 PM
Well, I understand what TOR is for, I just didn't expect that there are users out there who uses TOR to access the forum. For me, I just find the forum like a social media websites platform like facebook and youtube, so I'm using a normal browser (brave or google).

TOR is a bit more than just a browser; i.e. you can use a "normal" browser and still use the advantages of The Onion Router network (aka TOR network) if you care about your privacy.

I had to make a search for the term APAC and then realize what a stupid I am LOL. Now we know ETF is somewhere from Cambodia 😂

I don't think I'm going to be migrating anytime soon after this, but for now I will probably turn on Cloudflare for better caching and so I don't expose my hardware to DDoS.

I'm glad to hear that the site is back up and running.  Out of curiosity, who is currently hosting it? I hope you don't mind me asking.

And, since there are active links to mixer sites, did you check with the new host to make sure that's allowed in their terms of service? I hope this transition goes smoothly for you and you don't run into any more surprises.
494  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How can I become a campaign in manager Signature/Bounty? on: December 13, 2023, 09:45:17 AM
I am trying my best to develop my knowledge to know about the forum my id was opened long ago but I was not active in the forum but now I am currently trying to be active and try to do something good with it I don't know if I will be successful but still  I will try my best.

In that case, that should be your first priority, right? If you wanna be a campaign manager here, you should probably learn more about this place first.  Can't expect folks to trust you to run things if you don't even know that much about the community yet.

Understanding the people and the culture should be your priority number one.  If you don't devote enough effort there you'll just end up stumbling when it comes time to put that knowledge into practice.  Rushing never got anyone too far.  Slow down, put your head down, focus on learning for now.  The rest will follow in time.  Just gotta be patient and do the work first.
495  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Which one is fun, watching with bet or without a bet? on: December 13, 2023, 09:35:45 AM
It's understandable. Losing money on a game you were excited about is a major bummer.  Makes sense to feel crappy.  Gambling should be a fun activity, but the tension can gnaw at you too and  it goes with the territory.

Still, if you're always tense or bummed post-losing spree, may wanna rethink your betting habits.  When it stops being fun and starts messing with your head step back.  Take five, go do something you dig that has nada to do with gambling.
496  Economy / Web Wallets / Re: Can you recommend a web wallet other than blockchain.info? No KYC on: December 13, 2023, 09:05:19 AM
Can you recommend a web wallet other than blockchain.info for bitcoin primarily and with no kyc (no id). Thanks in advance

I generally don't recommend using web wallets, except in some specific and very rare cases. But, I'm curious about the issues you're experiencing with the blockchain.com wallet. Why isn't it working for you? It might help us point you in the right direction if we know what problems you're currently running into.
497  Other / Meta / Re: Mixers to be banned on: December 12, 2023, 04:59:05 PM
Since the number of pages on this topic is growing rapidly, it is difficult to see all the opinions. So I constantly follow Thymos' posts to keep up with updates.

Now I understand that all topics related to mixers and all accounts related to mixer projects will be attended to. But a question came to my mind, and I don’t know if it was previously asked on one of the pages, which is related to the scam and accusations section. If someone was subjected to fraud or theft by one of the Mixer sites, would he have the right to publish the details of what happened to him in that section? Considering that this could fall within public discussions, would the mixer who is the subject of the conversation have the right to publish his position or clarify something?

You don't have to constantly follow all the posts in this thread since theymos updated the OP with the new rules. To your specific question, I think this applies:

- Mixer URLs will be automatically wordfiltered out, but you can still discuss mixers otherwise.

498  Other / Meta / Re: Second chances on: December 12, 2023, 04:32:36 PM
I can't say I really have an opinion on this.  I haven't come across someone who was banned for plagiarism but who I thought would actually contribute something worthwhile to the forum.  There was this one guy on our local board who appealed his ban, and if I remember right, he waited years before finally getting it overturned.  but as far as I know, he never came back to participate much after that anyway. So I kinda wonder how many previously-banned yet potentially valuable members this whole effort will actually bring back into the fold.  I guess we can hope for the best.
499  Local / Hrvatski (Croatian) / Re: Pregled Bitcointalk Signature-Ad kampanja on: December 12, 2023, 11:39:17 AM

500  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Hardware Wallets, Open Sourcing, and Firmware on: December 11, 2023, 08:41:33 AM
I don't mean to assume, but it doesn't seem like you have much background in software and firmware development, coding, hardware architecture or general security principles.  If you did, you probably wouldn't be asking such basic questions.  There are people who specialize in these fields that have spent years building expertise, and I don't want to discourage you, but it's best not to take on more than you can handle when tackling complex topics.
