481  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Joining this forum has widen my horizon about Bitcoin . on: January 13, 2024, 09:22:16 PM
Before joining this forum i was thinking that Bitcoin is only limited to trading and investment  but  this forum has actually exposed my mind that Bitcoin is broad and covers a wider scope unlike my initial perception.
The greatest thing that happens to me this period is joining this forum because it gave me the  access to meet knowledgeable crypto experts and gurus and am also happy because I have the chance of learning from their Bitcoin talks and discussions and with this idea I will take the Bitcoin activities very confidencial .
Bitcoin is to different people different things, and what triggers their choices of the use of bitcoin is the knowledge of bitcoin. How well do they know about bitcoin. OP, you are not alone, when I first heard about bitcoin and did a lil research about it , I had thought that bitcoin is only meant to be bought and resell and make profit. And if we are honest about bitcoin, this is the exact idea of that brought many newbies into bitcoin. It is only a few that embraced Bitcoin because of ;
  • Privacy
  • Decentralization
  • Being their own bank
It is after you must have embraced bitcoin and become lucky to locate a forum like this that you will be exposed to more information about bitcoin. Talking about the ability to share information about bitcoin for free, this forum is second to none
482  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Knowing Bitcoin price history is important on: January 12, 2024, 09:20:27 PM
My trust in Bitcoin grew exponentially when I knew the price history of Bitcoin.
Besides other things, history is one main thing used in technical analysis. You can't analyze a market if you don't know the history of that market. History helps you determine how that market behaves at different points in time.

[/url]
Apart from in Bitcoin analysis, there is no type of analysis that does not put into account the history occurrences. Without past will present not form and on the basics of the present is the future formed. Although, historic trace alone cannot give you a well defined or an independently reliable information. There are other factors which negates the history track record most times.
In a nutshell, I can say that Bitcoin price history is important to every bitcoiner, but should be more important to say traders and short term investors. I think HODLERS are free from the headache of price crises.

Checking charts can be useful, but understanding what caused significant market shifts in the past and calculating how much influence such events have now and in the coming years is also very important.

This is the very statement that everyone should know as I definitely agree with you.
This is where fundamental and technical analysis meets and augments each other
483  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Debate: Should Your Business Accept Bitcoin? on: January 12, 2024, 03:59:53 PM
Hey Crypto Crew,

So, I've been pondering the whole "Should Your Business Accept Bitcoin?" conundrum. 🤔 Some say it's the future, while others think it's just a fad. What's your take on this crypto rollercoaster? Share your thoughts on whether diving into the Bitcoin sea is a savvy move or a shipwreck waiting to happen. Personally, I'm torn between embracing the digital gold rush and sticking to the good ol' cash. Let's chat about the pros, cons, and the downright unpredictable nature of this crypto beast. Are you ready to sail the Bitcoin waves or prefer to anchor in traditional waters? Drop your two satoshis below and let's hash it out! ⚓🚀

When we talk about business we are talking about profits and losses. It is either you are making profit in business or you are always losing and whether you are making profits or you are losing is a product of the decisions you make in your business. The decision to accept Bitcoin in your business is not what the business owner is supposed to take independently. The first question that will arise or that needs an urgent attention is whether or not the people that will patronize your business will actually need Bitcoin. Even if it is proven that bitcoin is actually the feature of finance, you do not actually need to incorporate it as a payment method for your business if your customers are not digital. Again, even if your customers are digital customers and they would actually accept using bitcoin as a means of payment, as a business owner how do you intend handling the volatility of Bitcoin. I mean what happens if the money plenty to you by a customer drops up to 4% in the next day that we were supposed to return to market.
Apart from that we have seen the recent mess in the Bitcoin mempool. If things continue to get messy who will pay the gross transaction fee of Bitcoin. If you also decide to use the normal transaction fee your business money could stock in the memory pool of Bitcoin network for weeks which is very detrimental to the growth of any business. I sincerely advice that you should take a sample opinion of your customers in the form of questionnaire to know if actually you need to implement Bitcoin payment gateway or you will stick to the traditional system of payment..
484  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin ETF Approval; Price dumps, what Next? on: January 12, 2024, 03:26:57 PM
I think the price correction will be similar to normal but ETF is good for the future of bitcoin and the crypto market as well. It's a significant step towards changing the perception and familiarity of bitcoin. We cannot expect strong pumping including subsequent reactions. In the long term, the value of bitcoin will remain optimistic.

The ETF approval is not something that will last for one month and all agreements would be reversed. If it was a month or weeks something, the FOMO will have effects in the market. I think this development is permanent, which will make changes in the market to be somewhat slow. We shouldn't also forget that manipulators are in the market who are ready to show people signs of disappointment in order for them to forgo their spots. These institutional traders will like to buy BTC at the cheaper rate, it is therefore expected that they will shake off the weaker hands.

My projection is that before June, bitcoin price will be somewhere at $60k. The effect of ETF approval will be felt more during the bull run. I  see the present market condition as an opportunity to enter the market for those who has not taken nice position in the market. Cheers everyone, better days are ahead.
485  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: As a newbie, be careful of the Bitcoin information you process on: January 09, 2024, 11:21:30 AM
Apart from in Bitcoin, in order technologies there is always a great tendency of being misinformed. Every new technology does not present an easy opportunity to understand especially when it is totally new, I mean when it is not an old idea presented in a new way. In the case of Bitcoin which is someone technical, I do not actually blame people who misunderstand Bitcoin to an extent because it is not that easy to understand Bitcoin. Where my annoyance lies is that someone who does not understand bitcoin will proceed to teach other people the rubbish he understood thinking that it is the right thing. And because of the contradiction and misinformation about Bitcoin, many people are yet to embrace the industry.

Another thing that should be considered in order to curtail the level of misinformation about bitcoin is the place you learn Bitcoin. If you learn Bitcoin from the articles around the social media, you could be misled and before you realize you have already sinked the wrong information in your memory. But when you learn in an open forum like this, you will likely not be misinformed because any misinformation would be countered by another person and they entire public will actually know the truth. This I have said is one of the important factor that differentiates bitcoin forum from the media. Here, you will likely not go with any wrong information unless you are too lazy to research or engage in conversation.

487  Economy / Speculation / Re: Is the bull run begun ? on: January 09, 2024, 09:39:56 AM
i feel that it is not a bull run, but simply a market response to the development of etfs where the sec stated that they dismissed rumors that they would reject all requests regarding etf trading. as for that bull run, i feel that it will happen when the sec accepts the bitcoin etf and then continue until before the halving, that is my prediction.
Maybe it will be nice if we actually understand the meaning of the word bull run. In in elements understanding, bull run can be said to be a continuous increase in the price of the cryptocurrency, bonds or any other volatile assets. Applying same definition to the bitcoin reality, we can say that we are experiencing bull run. Even if we are anticipating a bigger bull run in the future, it doesn't eliminate the fact that the market is no longer in the bear phase.

This bull run cannot be cut short whether or not SEC approves ETF. My confidence is that there are two things waiting to drive the market;
  • halving
  • ETF approval
If one fails, the other will do the job.
488  Economy / Speculation / Re: BitcoinETF approval will possibly cause much bigger jump than most people expect on: January 09, 2024, 09:25:01 AM
Re: BitcoinETF approval will possibly cause much bigger jump than most people expect
Before now, I had given little/no attention to the ETF approval. I had classified it as a normal Bitcoin activities that were projected to move the market which failed finally. But, seeing the pre ETF approval impact in the market is making me believe that the jump will be massive more than anyone could predict. We could possibly see the highest jump in Bitcoin price, such that in the future such jump might not be possible.

And maybe it'll help Bitcoin to become less volatile.
What I and many other have thought, but in practice, massive adoption might not lead to less volatility in as much as bitcoin will become more scarce.
489  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Speculation (Altcoins) / Re: Altcoin season coming soon? on: January 08, 2024, 01:10:38 PM
Graphically we are not there yet, but the probability of an altseason is only increasing, there is room for many of them to multiply the value.

What do you think? Are we heading towards a new altcoin season?
Yes.
As long as there's the upcoming halving and bull run for Bitcoin, it is usually also there. I just don't know if the sequence will be the same as it goes with Bitcoin's bull run first or it comes next or first. Whichever comes first, everyone of you do yourselves a favor and wait until it comes.
Or if you are in profit right now, do not forget that you also need to make some money for yourselves. Anyway, your image is too high, try to adjust it lower.
That's what I'm saying, I had thought that since it is bitcoin bull run, altcoins will also benefit. Has there been a season where it is only about the altcoins. I mean whether or not there is bull run, will the altcoins still rise. Infact, let me revise the question. Has there ever been a season called altcoins season, where bitcoin will not rise and only altcoins will be rising?

I believe that everything called bull run in the cryptocurrency concerns bitcoin and is greatly attached to bitcoin related activities such as halving, ETF approval etc.
490  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [Discussion] Bitcoin Spot ETFs on: January 08, 2024, 12:10:05 PM
Giving this one last bump before sharing the SEC's decision which should come in 2-3 days from now. Everyone seems to be very optimistic about multiple approvals, and I understand why with all of the amendments to the filings we've been seeing the last few days, ETF commercials, etc.. but I'm still a bit skeptical. Thoughts on this? and do you think this is just going to be another "buy the rumor, sell the news event" (short term)?
Everything is pointing towards positivity. If it was going to be the other way round, the evidence would have been enormous as well. Even other countries of the world are giving bitcoin a chance by eliminating some barriers on bitcoin before now. This is the long awaited time, and the timing is perfect with the bull run on sight. We should just prepare for the massive regulations that will accompany this development.
491  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What triggers the zeal to invest? on: January 08, 2024, 11:43:49 AM
~Snip~
It is poverty that propels richness while richness propels investment. When you are poor you will have the eagerness to get a job and earn some money. When you are able to earn good money, you will be eager to invest the money. So, there's no special motivation for investment if not to have a big return of investment and be rich or live comfortably in life.

Early Bitcoin investors where not actually after the return of investment, rather they were after  building a new decentralized technology to beat the flawed traditional system that is in existence.
Although you are correct, but when I looked from another angle there are lots of people who are working making good money of their lives but has still refused to invest in bitcoin not because they don't have money or nor they are poor. Like said, most people aren't yet settled to or made up their minds to venture into bitcoin.
There is one thing about investment, be it bitcoin investment or any kind of investment. That very thing is that it is not everyone that has the courage to invest. Investment requires patience and time in order to reap the reward of your investment. So many people believe in the present pleasure and does not care what the future has for them. While some people will only invest in what they are very sure about, this is one of the reasons why Bitcoin does not attract so much investors. Many people do not understand Bitcoin and its nature, and as you can also attest, there is a very great chance of losing your investment when you invest in what you do not understand. This is why bitcoin is always seen as an investment opportunity for the younger people, while the other people might not have the time and the Brain or opportunity to study about bitcoin which appears somehow technical than the everyday transitional system of investment that we know. Most times I do not blame people who refused to invest in Bitcoin, to be honest with us bitcoin investment looks like gambling. At one point you might be favored and in the other way around you could lose especially when you don't have the knowledge of the cryptocurrency market.
492  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What triggers the zeal to invest? on: January 07, 2024, 03:54:42 PM
You don't need any zeal to start investment what you need to start is decision, if you have taken the decision to make investment having known the importance of what you are venturing into you wouldn't wait for anyone's result to triggers you before going into investment. There are people today who are reaping their investment because they weren't waiting for someone to convinced them before they could start investment, as then they were investing blindly thinking they don't know what they were doing but today it turns out that they are the major holders while some people sold when bitcoin hit highest ATH and they made their profits. Waiting till you get all education about bitcoin will also keep you on a suspense till understands it thoroughly but if you invest now before you could gain those know you will see that you have made the best decision for yourselves while the price keeps going higher.

493  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Does inactive users deserve merits? on: January 07, 2024, 02:42:07 PM
There have been some good and quality posts that I've come across why navigating through the forum and I found out that some of the users have been inactive for a very long time but the posts they've made deserved merit, so is it advisable to merit the post(s) of a user(s) that have been inactive for a long interval of time considering the fact that they made Meritable posts?
It is the post that deserves merit;
It is not person or reputation of the person behind the account;
It doesn't matter how long the post is...I am yet to merit the population "I AM HODLING" post, but I'll still do that;
You can even send merits to a post more than once;
It is better to send 50 merits to a quality post than to sent 50 merits to 50 non quality posts;
Maybe I can bookmark a post I feel that I feel haven't received enough merits and will return after many months to merit same post.
494  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Merit decay on: January 07, 2024, 02:14:35 PM
Is it a good habit to allow one's sendable merits to decay?
Do sendable merits actually decay?
I haven't heard or seen any thread that anyone complain that their smerits are decayed. Could it be that they don't even check to know if the smerits are actually decayed or not.

In the other words, why do people not spend their smerits? Could it be because of one or more of the reasons below;
  • They don't see quality posts to drop the merits. Maybe they have high standards
  • They don't have time to browse the forum to send merits
  • They don't believe in the merit system
495  Other / Meta / Re: Changes Discussion Behavior in Forum on: January 07, 2024, 01:21:48 PM
Since 2024 started, I have seen changes in discussion behavior in forum which have changed quite a lot compared to 2023. Yes, of course we all know that the most fundamental change is the banning of mixers and all their campaigns from forum.

Maybe I'm still too early to draw conclusions because we are only 6 days into 2024. However, I really feel this change is very drastic, where the bitcoin discussion boards and economic discussion boards which are usually busy suddenly don't have many comments and there is a shift to gambling board.

Are the habits of discussion behavior in this forum only based on the campaign? And all the discussion is just about meeting campaign quotas?
If bitcointalk posts weren't monitized, you would see many people who are passionate about discussing here. But since the signature campaign has become part of this forum, both people who are interested in the money and the people who are  posting passionately are somehow controlled by the money factor.
About post increase in the gambling section, I can say that the gambling section is the only section that isn't boring, especially if you know sports and gambling.

This place is the same as the real world, for example, if I go after people in power/government, in my country, I'd end up in prison, harrassed for the rest of my life or end up dead. While in here the possibilities are the same, only difference is that many people around the world can hear my voice.
Many people in the forum can hear your voice as well, but the difference is that some who hear your voice are as helpless as you are. That's how the system was designed to be.
496  Economy / Economics / Re: If you want to get rich, you have to become immune to the money.......! on: January 07, 2024, 12:53:38 PM
I could remember last year when there was much tension about the price of bitcoin. You maintained that bitcoin is opened within the window of 15k to 75k, that the price won't go below 15k and behold it happened. It was then I knew that you are so much endowed. Remain great Franky.

2021 was 10k 75k window of possible speculation
2022 was 15k 95k window of possible speculation
2023 was 18k 110k window of possible speculation
2024 is 28k 140k window of possible speculation so far (can move up if hashrate moves up to push the window up)

dont expect a $400k btc this year, thats all im saying.. unless hashrate 3x the current network level and speculation drama pumps to limit
dont expect a $16k btc again.. unless hashrate drops by 45% the current network level and speculation dumps to limit
I have to quote this for reference purposes. I do not actually know how you come up with these figures but I believe them to a great extent. I am just waiting for dip back to the 30k region to buy more bitcoin.
497  Economy / Economics / Re: If you want to get rich, you have to become immune to the money.......! on: January 06, 2024, 05:12:38 PM
developing a mindset to not wastefully spend comes first.
accumulating it comes second, and then having a mindset to have money but not need to spend it

i personally could walk into a car dealership and buy a fleet of new cars, but i prefer just the experience of walking in and admiring cars but knowing i dont need to buy them.

i dont need to live a flashy lifestyle just to show off to the neighbours. why waste my money to impress others. when they are not going to help out with the costs

if you have the mindset you need to buy something to look trendy, .. stop. other people dont care after their 5minute admiration, they then move on with their own lives

if i need a car, i admire the new models, but then id go and get a previous year model with same functionality for less. after all who cares if the car is 1 day old or 1 year old or 10 years old. as long as it drives, thats all a car needs to do. all cars can look good with a bit of soap and water. so why waste paying premium for new, to just lose 40% driving it out the dealership.

buying 7 new cars to show off to neighbours that i have a car for each day of the week costing $60k+ x7
selling them each year at 40k each. to then buy new again (losing $140k) purity for vanity, is a fools method to not remain rich

id rather spend $15k on one average car that lasts me 6 years. (losing under $1k a year when selling it for $9k on year 6)
which then free's up hundreds of thousands

in short.. dont buy for vanity/trends/fashion statement/admiration
Thank you Franky1 for this advice. It is rare to get it for free. I see that you are a rare gem and a successful fellow. You have your principles and you follow them strictly and that is why you distinguished yourself from thousands of people even here in the forum. I admire you and from henceforth I'll keep following your advice and wealth of experience.

I could remember last year when there was much tension about the price of bitcoin. You maintained that bitcoin is opened within the window of 15k to 75k, that the price won't go below 15k and behold it happened. It was then I knew that you are so much endowed. Remain great Franky.

4. NOT TRACKING EXPENSES

Do you know that when you keep tracking your expenses you won't be able to release fund from your hands, naturally when you release money another one gets into your hands and I won't encourage holding fund at hand without putting it somewhere else. Lets say if you keep holding funds without investment, or without utilizing the fund the value ought to reduces due to inflation taking over our economy and again when you keep tracking your expenses you become too greed and stingy to release money either to your family and love ones.

To further expand this is; Set a limit of your expenses, map a budget of your daily, weekly and monthly expenses to enable you manage and track your money the way you may think of. If all these things are put in place you can be able to determine how much goes of your hands and how much is going to your savings account by then you can be able to look out for a good investment to involved yourself without waste of time.
I am sorry that you totally misunderstood the. concept of tracking your expenses. Tracking your expenses does not mean that you should not spend or you should be stingy, it simply means that you should know where and how you are spending. There are people who earns a huge lot of money but they do not give account how they spent the money, at the end of the day it will look as if the lost money or someone stole from them. That is exactly what happens when you do not track your expenses.

When you are tracking your expenses, it will give you a clear picture of how much you earn and how you should spend. When you have this information at the tip of your fingers, you can now use the power of opportunity cost to be able to live within your means. Being able to track your expenses does not depict greed or stinginess, rather it will give you the clear picture of your financial inflow and outflow and hence enable you to make good use of your money.
499  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2023/2024 on: January 06, 2024, 09:47:14 AM
Ten Hag had enough time and he has not being able to be productive with that time. Do you think he will be given more time that is beyond this season without replacing him? He is a great coach and that was why Manchester United brought him in as a manager. I don’t know his problem and why this inconsistency has been their for too long, I hope there’s a change soon because if there is no any, Manchester United will not finish the game in a good position with others. There is still room for improvement now that the second round of the season is just beginning.
When Erik Ten Hag was appointed, I know alot of Manchester United fans that were happy but now they frown their faces. At this point, I've no clue if Erik Ten Hag is the perfect coach that would strengthen the performance of the club or he's just one of these random coach that will struggle from the first day in office as appointed headcoach and struggle till he's fire by the team board members. Erik Ten Hag have been given enough time to fix the club but it seems he's effort is not counting, there are particles he will take to ensure he's on the winning track.
When he was appointed as Manchester united he did, his performance in the first season wasn't bad and last season he was able to coached the team to be in the first four position. For sure fans is not happy with Eric Ten Hag because the team is not performing well and you don't expect the club to still keep him when no positive result is coming from. I don't think if Ten Hag can be able to revive the team back, Manchester United have really been struggling since the beginning of the season,  the performance of Ten Hag right is not what the is expecting from him, he may likely lose his jobs if the team keeps on performing poor.
Anyone who knows about football will sincerely not be sad with the Manchester United coach. Manchester United problem is not about the coach, although any club that is not performing fine, will have its blame on the coach. Is believed that the coach has everything to prepare the club to greater heights, when the club is not doing as expected it is also normal to blend the coach. However, we wish to be sincere to ourselves we should understand that Manchester United coach has not had a complete squad available for this season. At one point he will be having defensive problem, at the other point you will be having midfield problem and at some points you'll be having both midfield and the defensive problems. He is having attacking problem because even the Manchester United wonder boy called Marcus rashford has refused to score goals this season. Do you also remember that he has had goalkeeper problem and still having it. I believe Erik Ten Hang is not provided with what he needs to restore the glory of Manchester United.
500  Other / Meta / Re: Why do some campaign members posting essay? on: January 06, 2024, 09:31:06 AM
Sorry about the title. While reading some posts, I noticed that some campaign participants seem to be posting essays. Have you noticed the same, or is it just me? If you also notice this, do you think it's healthy for the forum?
What posts does constitute an Essay to you?
From the comments that precedes the thread, I find long posts to fall for that category but, I don’t find anything wrong or not okay with having to make a clear narrative on a subject.

It doesn’t have to be about you being a campaign participants to come up with this sort of post and to be frank, you would hardly find campaign participants coming up with long narrative posts especially, when they are about meeting up with post quota.

Short or few lined posts often count for spamming or low effort created content and with that, users tend to do the most to have a clear narrative on a subject to avoid confusion and hope it constitutes to post quality.
TBH, I don't read those wall of texts, especially when it is not coming from someone I know too well is a very knowledgeable in Bitcoin. I have tried it several times and regretted at last. Some of those lengthy posts are full of repetitions and non connected narrations which could easily be called off topic.

In most cases what the users wish to say ended in the first few lines but the poster will deliberately stretch the write up to look like a gigantic article. There are people that writes such as habit, such as Jay juan, franky1, LUCKYFLY1 and others, and I read their posts. But recently, it's becoming a norm in the forum.
