Even though the idea is great I must say that your first page doesn't explain much. It looks like you get the coins around the world but then the instructions are to just mine in computer. You have wallets for PC but no ones for your phone? And where is the app with which you are supposed to find the coins around? As I said, first page really explains nothing and I don't want to have to read all the thread...
We are currently reworking our main http://geo.money website which is the main promotional page which will include all the details and explanations about the project.  http://geocoin.cash is where the online GeoCashing game interface exists as in not meant to be filled with instructional materials.  Your patience is much appreciated as we recreate our main page.

This is one of the coolest concepts I've ever seen in the field. Proof of Location. How many coins have been already mined vs total supply?
You can find out all the info on our GEO Blockexplorer found here: https://chainz.cryptoid.info/geo/

Currently at 3,147,112 GEO and growing

Thanks again for the suggestions, we will be doing some cool promotional things coming up in the near future once we get the MapBox interface launched.

Last night I was playing around with the Facebook Share/Camera Perspective Control integration a little further, ran into some bugs still I still need to work through.  I hope to find some time this evening to finish it off.  Stay tuned for updates, here we GEO!
I was able to successfully finish off the dynamic Facebook Sharing links last night on our main landing page.  I will update this into the backend beta version as well this evening.

If you'd like to give it a try, go to http://geocoin.cash.
Zoom locally into a dropped GeoCoin, preferably in a city that shows 3D Buildings.
Hold down right click to adjust your camera position, when you're satisfied click on the GeoCoin and share your view to Facebook.  Cool

Thanks again for the additional information, we are currently researching Proof of Location and how we may be able to integrate it into the GeoCoin project.  Stay tuned for future updates!

I would like to ask why this Team should not take in consideration some changes in code. For example this is POW coin but without proper funding won't get far.. You need funds for development and for marketing and one way you can accomplish this is trough allocation of miner rewards. You can use for example 6% of every block mined. And when you invest in PR more people will come..Team will grow.. Cool
We are currently brainstorming the next phase for the GeoCoin project.  Once we complete some more research we will have a better idea if changes in the code will be feasible.  Thanks for the information!

Any updates on the actual platform?

I'll be working through the second half of the new Facebook Share links integration with the Camera Perspective Controls.  We also need to redo the GeoCoin website and update a few things to the backend in preparation for the launch.

Today our service provider was able to fix our phone line finally, tomorrow they're coming back to swap my routers for home office internet.  Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly and I'll be fully setup in the new place and ready to GEO!

Hi!
May GEO provide some kind of Proof of Location Protocol?

Many projects want to make ICO on our own project, but don't wana sell coins to USA because of SEC. And looking for solutions.

What you think about it?
GEO is running a Proof of Work Qubit Algorithm for the mining process.  Proof of Location does sound interesting, we will do some further research.

I'll be back in action this weekend continuing work on integrating the Camera Perspective Controls with Facebook share links.  We've also been brainstorming some cool future improvements for the GeoCoin project as well.

UPDATE: I was able to integrate the first half of the Camera Perspective Controls with our landing page over the weekend allowing dynamic parameters for the map initialization.  Check out an example here: http://geocoin.cash/?x=-123.11390474438667&y=49.27731775631804&z=17&p=30&b=160

I will continue integrating this new logic with the Facebook sharing links this week.

I finally got my internet setup in the new place, albeit I still need to change services packages yet again due to the ISP blocking ports.  But I'll be back in action developing GEO this week!   Cheesy
We've got some plans coming up in preparations for the launch, thanks again to everyone in the community for your patience and understanding during my move!

Just to let you all know I have an appointment setup for tomorrow with Telus to get my internet installed.  Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly and I can get back online at the new place Smiley

UPDATE: Turns out the installation is set for Monday, damn Telus  Undecided

Greetings folks, I had a successful move over this past weekend and am still getting setup in the new place.  Still need to setup internet and phone connections etc.

Once I'm back online and setup in my new place I will continue working through the remainder of the Facebook Share combination with the new Camera Perspective Controls logic.

Just wanted to keep y'all in the loop, still more to GEO!

Wait...are you a one man dev team? If so, what are your future plans with the coin once the app is launched? Seems to me any coin with serious considerations to be a long term success needs a nice team behind it as well as future plans/roadmap for real world integration. Otherwise this is gonna be the next pokemon fad, pump and dump and left to rot once ppl get bored of it. No fud, just being realistic.

There are two devs. Even if there were only one, one dev teams are common. You are comparing it to an ICO where everyone and their mother are advisors.

Still doesn't answer my question. The more I look at it the more it looks like a fad. Sorry I'm responding with my other account via phone
I've taken over from Tobler as the lead developer and have been focusing on the frontend MapBox interface.  Tobler is the GeoCoin Creator, he is still directly involved and has been working on the backend cryptotech.

We're also in the process of preparing a roadmap for after the upcoming launch for future plans and improvements, but the testing and debugging process is our top priority at this time.  GEO is not dead, I just don't have internet access yet in my new home.  Your patience and support is much appreciated Smiley

Usually when price spikes there is either a insider info or something similar, you don't throw 300k+$ on thin air Wink

consolidation phase now ?

Maybe expect app release and then 10x, who knows.

LOL poor man waits on magic from dead coin LOL and stagnant stagnant, than low low, than stagnant stagnant, bags heavier heavier LOL

no one knows what to wait from this coin, this coin is speculative and may rise 10x or fall unexpectedly but one fact stands steady that dev is continually working on the project. as far as I know that only the small team works on this project without huge investments what proves they are passionate about this idea. when person likes what he does than the main idea comes out with excellent result
Thanks for your continued support, I do really enjoy working on GeoCoin and I am passionate about the project.  Last night while working on combining the Camera Perspective Controls with Facebook Sharing I came across a new issue with the dragging logic.  It seems that MapBox has switched up how they handle this type of event, but luckily I was able to implement the fix already and it's back up and running.  I will continue with the remainder of the Facebook Sharing logic this evening if time permits.  I still got some packing to do  Smiley

Working through some new logic to combine the Camera Perspective Controls with Facebook sharing for use on our landing page

Good morning GEO community, sorry for the delay in my response.  My wife and I are moving this week so we spent the entire weekend boxing up our apartment.

It seems that you guys don't play nice in my absense  Cheesy  Let me answer a few questions.  Some people were concerned that our project is dead as our github page has not been updated in 3 years.  This is true as we have not modified or altered anything from the crypto technology side since we launced the wallet.  Our focus since creating the coin has been to add GIS & GeoTechnologies to work hand in hand with this blockchain.

The project has been ongoing for the past 3 years.  Back around November/December the Poloniex exchange decided to delist GEO due to low daily trading volumes.  We reached out to them at that time to try and keep GEO listed, but none of our communications were even returned at all.  Since then I have taken over from Tobler as the lead developer and have been focusing on replacing our Google Maps interface with a new MapBox interface.  This process have been very enjoyable and the results have come together very well in the past 6 months or so.

To see some of the latest demo videos for GeoCoin check out the following 3 videos we've uploaded to youtube
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bCVXaNvSfw4
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MEIgzu_iTL8
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pNs6N0EdD8Y

In order to demonstrate that these videos are not fake or just screenshots made in photoshop as some have claimed, I updated our home landing page recently to provide the community a sneak peak at the new MapBox interface. http://geocoin.cash

Tobler and I are currently working through some remaining issues prior to launch.  Tobler is focusing on the cryptotech in the backend and I'm touching up some minor glitches remaining in the frontend of the MapBox interface.  We also need to update our main page prior to launch as well as we had some server troubles there.  I hope this helps clear up some confusing.  We are still alive and well and hoping to launch when we are confident it is ready.

P.S. Don't feed the Trolls!  Smiley

The geocaches out in the community already consist of plastic containers.  We wouldn't be creating our own Geocaches, simply just adding a coupon or voucher within existing caches already placed around the community.  I was thinking a paper wallet would not have too many negative environmental impacts as paper is recyclable  Tongue
498  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [GEO] GeoCoin | GIS & GeoTechnologies on: June 20, 2017, 06:43:45 PM
The current ban process is not carried out by an administrator, we use advanced GIS spatial analysis to automatically ban people who attempt to spoof their GPS positions.

In the past we have dropped GeoCoins on the map that were password protected based on a nearby feature in the real world, we could look into implementing that again for a more verifiable collection from the location.

I've also thought of dropping off paper wallets which geocachers can find within actual geocaching.com geocaches as another promotional tool.

Lots on the GEO!
499  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN] [GEO] GeoCoin | GIS & GeoTechnologies on: June 19, 2017, 08:37:03 PM
Tobler and I have been working through some issues on the front and back end for the past few weeks while beta testing.  We want to get things up and running smoothly so we are not going to rush this process, we thank you for your patience.

In terms of GPS spoofing it is already known to us and we will ban any users who are caught spoofing their GPS position immediately.  To date there are 75 GeoCoin Hunters which were banned due to spoofing.

...

I disagree. This is a geocaching type application, what better than a world map with coins on it to land on? Pictures are much more descriptive than words.

Two different issues.

The page itself is great and gives a lot of information to people who are already using the app.

But if a person who is not familiar with the coin lands there, they learn nothing, they leave and that's it.

Maybe moving the sign up buttons below the map and a brief description?
Thanks for your feedback, I can look into adding some more descriptive content to this landing page as well to help new comers.  But just to clarify this page was looking very similar previously this week, it was still using our original Google Maps interface so I felt I should swap it over to the new MapBox interface so users can see it's not just hype.  Still a work in progress though so I will try and improve it shortly.  Smiley
