481  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Another Unconfirmed transaction i'm affraid... on: May 26, 2017, 05:13:29 AM
I will happily pay a small fee to anyone who is able to help me get this confirmed Smiley

sadly had a bad experience with Multibi (it crashed) so switched to Electrum and of course, didn't up the mining fee/sat/B

anyone willing to take mercy on me? viabtc doesn''t seem to be working for me.

many thanks!!

It looks like your transaction has already confirmed. In order to help prevent issues with delayed confirmations in the future, you should ensure you are running at least version 2.8.2 of Electrum with Dynamic Fees enabled. Move the slider more to the right if it is taking a long time to confirm.
482  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Raise fee on electrum 2FA wallet on: May 26, 2017, 05:10:29 AM
I used the most recent person. 2.8.2

Not sure if I will use the feature again. Sounds too risky. Especially at these prices.

Well as long as you are storing your backup private key, you can always spend the coins without the need for 2FA. However, I think a hardware wallet is probably a better solution than using a 3rd party for 2FA anyway.
483  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Need some help on Sweeping bitcoins on: May 26, 2017, 05:08:52 AM
I assume you are running the latest version of Electrum right? The Dynamic Fees options should usually put accurate sized fees for quick confirms. You can adjust the slider more to the right for faster confirms. I usually use all the way to the right when I don't want to wait on a confirmation but it will increase the fee size.
484  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Electrum Transaction on the History page dissipeared.... on: May 25, 2017, 02:18:18 PM
The transaction ID you posted ( 1bfbfa9308a8978473b3e84826f1c49a6fc91af3a30a29583e205a1dc12f9aab ) isn't found on the network when I search for it.

I strongly recommend you upgrade to Electrum 2.8.2 . There are many bug fixes and feature upgrades since the version that you are currently using which may help resolve some of your issues.

Additionally, I'd recommend using Dynamic Fees in the latest version. This will help ensure accurately sized fees. If you are sending too low of a fee, it may be getting dropped from the network.
485  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Transaction stuck for 2 weeks now.. on: May 24, 2017, 04:13:39 PM
Hey, so basically I was messing around with fee's on Electrum and sent some btc with way too low fee's and now it's been stuck for just over 2 weeks. The address I sent to was for something I was paying for and the address expired 5 days after I started transaction. So I need to get this transaction cancelled somehow.
I've been googling for solutions but nothing has worked, I hoped the mempool would forget it but it still hasn't .
I also tried restoring my wallet with seed but the transaction is still there.

Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do? Surely there's a way to cancel it so it's not stuck forever.

Thank you

This is the trans ID btw :  6b1ab419dbd2a8fe12e36e087704aea42a11e08c4c21aed412242660f55e931e

The transaction you linked is dated 5/22 and is only 2 days old and not 2 weeks old as far as I can see. The only way to cancel the transaction would be to doublespend the transaction, but this isn't always an easy process. You could probably try to speed up the confirmation by using the ViaBTC accelerator though if you just want it to confirm.
486  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happens to BTC/Alts when stock market crashes? on: May 24, 2017, 03:29:50 PM
Not all people who invest in the stock market know about Bitcoin or view it as a good investment. I'm sure that we will get some additional investors into Bitcoin if the stock market starts to crash but I'm not sure how much of a noticeable impact it would make.

I updated Windows after hearing about the virus-the extortioner, but to be honest that automatically update Windows, I don't like. The updates are loaded very long and it is a problem. If today there is a new virus that it gets into my computer because I again do not update.

You really need to update Windows to keep up to date with the latest security patches otherwise you can become vulnerable to attacks like this. Not updating for long periods of time isn't safe at all.
That's stupid LMAO!

What if hackers hacked Windows and put ransomware and tons of virus shiz in the updates so they got your computer and can send it to all your contacts, their contacts, their their contacts, etc.. through your Email and the world of internet is doomed?

That could happen if you got auto-updating enabled! Therefore I suggest not updating your Windows untill after like a day and then do your research if there's anything about windows being hacked or something and if there's not anything about it on the internet, you could carefully try downloading it.

There has never been a virus or any malware in a Windows Update patch. Link me any article showing this has ever happened in the past. Using auto-update for Windows patches isn't dangerous at all and will help secure your machine.
489  Other / Off-topic / Re: Are you doomed if you are not tech savvy? on: May 24, 2017, 02:04:32 PM
There are any apps and wallets that are helping to make bitcoin simple to use for less technical users. Sites like coinbase and blockchain.info wallets are starting to become more Paypal like and simplify things. As a more technical user, I don't like the simplification and prefer to use advanced wallets such as Electrum. I do see the benefit of having some wallets that are simple to use for the less technical users. If Bitcoin is to become mainstream, we need all kinds of users to be able to properly use it.
490  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Is it dangerous to store all bitcoin in 1 address? on: May 24, 2017, 01:57:07 PM
Storing all your coin in a single address isn't dangerous as long as you take the proper steps to secure that address/wallet. Spreading the coins over several addresses is better for privacy but likely won't increase the security by that much. There are addresses with hundreds of thousands of coins in them, just see https://bitinfocharts.com/top-100-richest-bitcoin-addresses.html for example.
491  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Accepting Bitcoin on eBay? on: May 24, 2017, 01:52:55 PM
Ebay doesn't support bitcoin as far as I know. You would have to message the user to see if they would accept it. The fact that this is a bitcoin related item means the seller may possibly be willing to accept BTC. But that phrasing doesn't imply that bitcoin is accepted to me.

They only listed Amex and Pay on Pickup as the payment options so I'm guessing they just don't want to accept other CC or Paypal payments for safety reasons.
492  Bitcoin / Hardware wallets / Re: TREZOR Hardware wallets? on: May 24, 2017, 01:47:34 PM
Trezor Hardware wallet is one of the best  ( as for Ledger Nano s )  I personally use both, and i am super happy!

What is the reason for using both of them? Wouldn't you just tend to use the one that you like the most? Do you prefer the Trezor or the Ledger Nano S more after you both of them?
493  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Created to coins on: May 24, 2017, 01:40:50 PM
Is it possible for bitcoin devs or any other coin for that matter to develop more coins as all its just code?

also when a new alt coin is made can the maximum number of coins be increased?

hope im making sense

No new bitcoins can be created other than mining new blocks.

With altcoins, they are entirely new coins so all aspects can be controlled. There are many altcoins that don't have a limit for the maximum number of coins.

Good antivirus. Don't download random emails with "unknow" attachment
Is it true that this virus is spread via email, what about security like yahoo and google? I am so scared .. Roll Eyes

I don't think that this particular virus spreads via email but many viruses do. For this reason, you shouldn't ever open unknown attachments via email.

This particular virus spreads without needing any user interaction as the vulnerability in Windows allows remote exploitation if not properly patched.
495  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Raise fee on electrum 2FA wallet on: May 24, 2017, 01:33:11 PM
Hello,

I think there might be an error which prevents to raise the fee in electrum 2fa wallet transactions that have the option enabled to raise the fee.

It might be that trustedcoins needs a nother payment when raising fees. I receive a popup saying "Error 402 Payment Required" then a api.trustedcoin.com/2/cosigner/...tx... url and below another error message "payment required".

Guess using this option might be needed more often these times.

Greetings!
Sebastian

That 402 Payment Required is just a webserver error code and usually doesn't actually mean a payment is required.

This sounds more like a temporary issues to me. I would ensure that you are running the most recent version of Electrum and try again. If you are still getting the error, could you post a screenshot?
496  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: i have a heck of a good feeling on: May 24, 2017, 04:42:09 AM
I'm not sure I see Bitcoin hitting 100k . That seems quite a bit out there. I can certainly see it hitting 10k within a few years though and possibly 3-4k by 2018.
497  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: IRS Probe of Bitcoin Goes Too Far, GOP Warns on: May 24, 2017, 04:39:22 AM
Yeah, they are just on a witch hunt. Hopefully this gets blocked as they are definitely overstepping their bounds with this one and they shouldn't need records for all Coinbase users.

I would google the bitcoin price of course. See if Bitcoin survived and is worth a ton or if it died out lol.

500  Bitcoin / Electrum / Re: Change addresses on: May 24, 2017, 04:27:01 AM
Thanks for your reply kolloh. Can you just explain this bit... Not sure I understand. Thanks

1.... You could create a transaction that has no change though and redirect any extra coins in an input to an address of your choice by sending to multiple addresses at once.

If you wanted to make a payment to one address and send the change to some other address, you would create a multi-output transaction ( 2 destination addresses ). One output would be the destination address for your payment and the second address would be another address that you are sending the rest of the coins to. You would be spending the entire input and thus there wouldn't be any change left to go to a change address.
