481  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: February 01, 2024, 08:13:41 AM
Inter really have two big games to play consecutively. However I believe Inter will win both of the games against Juventus and Roma. Juventus would be a much bigger challenge as they have a really solid defense. They have conceded nearly the same amount of goals with Inter in the league so far. They should be better at resisting.
Inter game against Juventus will be decisive because it will determine how far both teams will hold onto the top spot. Inter has a team that is scoring goals because of an outstanding striking force and they have also conceived fewer goals than Juventus. Scoring 50 goals and letting in just 10 is a convincing performance of a future champion. Juventus knows that a loss will widen the gap and will become difficult for them to recover. But a draw might be a comfortable score for both teams and it will move the chase for the league trophy to other games.

Quote
Roma are in a new period with Daniele De Rossi now. He won the two league games he managed so far. But both of them were against much weaker teams. We don't know their strength against big teams yet. But I don't know if they would make great progress about that too in a short time. At least against Inter their job is very difficult.  Sad
It is too early to believe that Daniele De Rossi is the right coach for Roma but the results so far are showing it slightly. I was not impressed with their performance in the last game with Salernitana because they created fewer goalscoring opportunities, The host would have won the game if they had taken the chances they created. However, Roma was clinical and maximized the few opportunities they had. But the team has really improved in its coordination and tactics.
482  Economy / Economics / Re: Quitting Smoking Has Two Big Benefits. on: February 01, 2024, 07:34:44 AM
Spending $90 monthly on cigarettes is a big waste of funds. I smoke but don't spend as much as that because I am not highly dedicated to it. I can smoke twice a day and I am fine. Saving that amount from cigarettes monthly and investing it in Bitcoin is a good decision because it will help you accumulate more Bitcoin through DCA.

Quitting smoking will not just save money from the cost of buying it but the money you spend on your health and others. Some smokers tend to hang out with friends frequently and it could make them spend money on drinks and others. Your wife was right about you smoking in the presence of your kids. We should be good examples to our children and not teach them harmful habits like smoking. I have never smoked in the presence of my wife or children because they can easily follow in my footsteps.
483  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: JP Morgan Chase are participating in 5 categories of cryptocurrency. Jamie lies! on: February 01, 2024, 07:18:30 AM
Hahaha yeah, I remember the recent news or interview about Jamie Dimon where he talks negatively about Bitcoin again.
And then you see this which they are a huge institution that really adopting Bitcoin.

That's why I said recently from his interview that he is spreading again FUD so they can buy more cheap Bitcoins.
It is a free world and everybody can say whatever about Bitcoin. I feel sorry for people who take the statements of people like Jamie Dimon seriously. He has consistently told people not to invest in Bitcoin but it is hypocritical to know that JPMorgan Chase is investing heavily in the crypto sector. Businessmen cannot be trusted because they can do anything for profit.

This is also the stance of fellow American Billionaire Warren Buffet who is a strong critic of Bitcoin. Meanwhile, it was discovered recently that Berkshire Hathaway is a major shareholder in a Latin American digital bank called Nu Holdings. This bank has launched several crypto-related services and is a well-known crypto-friendly bank in Latin America. Warren called Bitcoin rat poison, while Jamie pet rock, yet they are still investing and making profit from the industry, FUD mongers!!!.
484  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: In the Future All Crypto Exchanges Will Become Decentralized - Justin Sun on: January 31, 2024, 12:18:29 PM
https://news.bitcoin.com/in-the-future-all-crypto-exchanges-will-become-decentralized-justin-sun-founder-of-tron-and-advisor-to-htx/
"The conversation then moved to the ongoing debate between decentralized and centralized exchanges, emphasizing the crucial role of transparency and decentralization in cryptocurrency platforms. Justin further illuminated the concept of democratic governance for cryptocurrency exchanges. The episode concluded with a discussion on the emergence of new governance platforms, with HTX DAO serving as a prime example."

Do you believe this?
The most likely thing we will see is the use of cryptocurrency on decentralized exchanges.

https://www.coindesk.com/tech/2024/01/24/solana-delivers-token-extensions-to-attract-enterprise-blockchain-builders/
"There are five extensions that developers can mix and match, according to briefing materials reviewed by CoinDesk.
Transfer hooks: Any time a token is transferred a "transfer hook" will invoke a program that checks whether that transfer is permissible, and revoke the transfer if it's not."
I have an opposite prediction of the view of Justin Sun. I think the government will soon begin to clamp down on decentralized platforms to enable them to gain control over the crypto industry. They intend to achieve control by enacting strict regulatory laws that might force these exchanges to give out the details of their users.

The Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) in the US  is an example of such a move. This law mandates decentralized exchanges to report details of any transaction that is deemed suspicious. This law will make DEXs go through the same money laundering and anti-terrorism regulations that CEXs undergo. Any decentralized platforms that refuse to abide by these laws might be banned from operating in such countries.

This is very important and should be use first before making any post or commenting this help a lot in editing your post and replies.

I gist this some best ways also to feel free when writing or editing text.
It’s has been for help to top and higher ranks on the forums.

It also serves as pen and paper when you are not close to them
It is very useful to in the laptops, desktop
It can be esay use when you have some writeups to make.
Using a notepad might be convenient for you but that's not the case for others. I think it is time-wasting to use in making posts on the forum because other options could enable you to correct your posts. I don't know how you got the information that many high-ranking members use notepads or are you just assuming? This is another case of a newbie teaching what he is unsure of. I am suggesting that you consider using a grammar checker to edit your post because the notepad you recommend is not helping you produce quality post.  Your post is filled with many typographical and grammatical errors.
486  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: stop the unnecessary blame on gambling whenever you get unlucky on: January 31, 2024, 08:50:28 AM
A lot of people have been clamoring about how gambling has ruined their life but same gambling has set some people up for life, just like every other form of investment there must always be a profit or a loss.  And life is so balanced that what works for Mr A might not be the same that works for Mr B. Likewise in gambling,  while some are crying about their loss they are some who are smiling and celebrating their win.
Gambling is for mature minds and not for irresponsible people. I think this is the reason why there is a minimum age limit people should attain before they are allowed to gamble. An understanding that gambling is unpredictable will help people understand that they might win today and lose the next time they bet. Most people who lament about their loss are people who gamble more than they can afford to lose.

Quote
Gambling has been seen as a very dangerous thing base on some people's point of view here in the forum whereas in reality it has given some people the capital to start what ever business they want to do. My point in this post is that we shouldn’t just paint gambling all black because some people have fail to stick to the discipline of gambling.
Gamble is not dangerous it is simply risky. You risk your money to get fun and more money. This is a forum and you cannot stop people from sharing their gambling experience. Anyway anybody who concludes that gambling is bad is ignorant because it has so many benefits if handled responsibly. If one can control his gambling activities, such a person will find it interesting.

I believe that before one make a decision in life, they should've already weighed the consequences of making the right or wrong choice, then put their fate on luck coupled with their little knowledge concerning what they're about to decide on, so why complain and play the blame game when things go wrong? "Share your thought on how gambling has come through for you if you got any".
Gamble for me is a game that gives me fun as I also expect to make some profit. It has never had any negative consequences on my finances, health, family relationships, and other areas of my life. I try as much as possible to gamble within my means and this is done by following strictly my gambling plan.
487  Economy / Economics / Re: Another war in the Middle East could be dire for the economy on: January 31, 2024, 07:46:19 AM
If this warrior situation is not calm then what is the worst course for the people of the world.
Looking forward to thoughtful feedback. How Bitcoin can help in this case. I think Bitcoin is the strongest currency in the world
Since Bitcoin is decentralized, it could help people to engage in financial transactions even when the war has collapsed traditional banking systems. Locals in wartorn nations could still buy goods using Bitcoin from shops that accept the coin. During the early stage of the war in Ukraine, several agencies donated Bitcoin to several NGOs to enable them to help people affected by the war.

Bitcoin could also help to invade sanctions since it could bypass SWIFT. There were reports that some countries sanctioned by NATO and its allies receive funds in the form of Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Bitcoin could also assist fleeing refugees who owns Bitcoin because they can still use this crypto freely in the the country they are seeking refuge.
488  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are you ready for the Bitcoin bull market? What's your plan? Some ideas for you on: January 31, 2024, 07:26:55 AM
Let's not try to overcomplicate things, when everything is actually really simple. Just have patience and HODL. That's pretty much it.
There will be price drops before the big bull run. Don't panic and never sell during a price drop. The market will start going up sooner or later.
My plan is to wait until the BTC price hits 2x of the current levels and I will start selling parts of my BTC wealth. If the future Bitcoin ATH is 3x of the current price that would be great, but I don't think that Bitcoin is capable of reaching a 120K USD price.
By the way, this topic belongs to the Trading Discussion forum(or maybe the Speculation forum).

I find your plan very easy and simple to follow. I am not targeting the all-time high before selling part of my investment because it is unpredictable. I am not also a high-risk taker so I have an average target and immediately it gets to that point, I will take my profit. If the price goes far above my target after my sales, good luck to the maximum risk-takers.

I don't have any bitcoin holdings, so I'm ready for the bull market. I have been trying to accumulate little by little, but I wasn't able to do it. At some point, I was in a situation to spend, and I completely used it. Soon after the previous halving, I decided to hold and accumulate until the 2024 halving, but the financial requirements during the same period as the earnings weren't that good due to COVID. Making more sources of income will help us save more and hold it for the long term.
The economic problems brought by COVID-19 affected many businesses which led to pay cuts, job losses, and inflation. The economies of most nations were about to recover when the crisis in Ukraine erupted and now multiple wars are disrupting the global economy. Surviving is now difficult while saving looks impossible. I am hoping that the global economy will improve this year and maybe through determination, diligence, and sacrifice one might take advantage of the next bear run to accumulate through DCA.

Just with few hours spent in this forum, I took it as my primarily aim of navigating around the forum trying to locate good sources of information that will help me out in my Bitcoin journey and it never took me on surprise finding many threads of such nature.

One thing I learnt so far, is Buying of ideas, since no man on planet earth can claim to be too knowledgeable on all aspect of live, deeping down to Bitcoin and its blockchain, everybody should strive to be symbiotic in nature, accepting ideas, not just all but selecting that which is necessary and beneficial to his journey, no belittling of any one's ideas as it may be the solution to our problems.
I am happy you found this forum helpful and I hope you will keep learning and expanding your knowledge about the Bitcoin industry. This forum has proved over time to be the best platform to get information about Bitcoin. As you rightly pointed out, nobody in this world is a compendium of knowledge so we should always cherish valuable information. But there is also a need to verify the validity of the information we come across because there is many of fake information out there. However, I always prefer to get information from the forum because most of the discussions are enlightening. There are many reputable members in the forum and you will always learn when you read and study discussions.
490  Other / Off-topic / Re: Before you start gambling, do some research first on: January 30, 2024, 04:06:11 PM
Is there anyway to help this person? I have given some advice to start using small percentage of the whole salary and safe the rest but still couldn't, and I don't want to help him to hold his money for him, he is over 28 years old, not a underage.

He have gotten used to this way because he started gambling all by himself and he won some money but end up even fuelling his addiction. What is next? Any tip?
Having a gambling budget and limiting oneself to it will be a good option. A gambling plan will always guide him against overgambling because he would not gamble more than he has budgeted. Now the solution is not only about having a gambling budget but to follow it diligently. Many people have these budgets but cannot control themselves, especially when pursuing losses. Another piece of advice might be to avoid things that trigger his gambling addiction. He might decide to avoid gambling adverts and also stay away from friends who are gambling addicts. If his gambling addiction is at an extreme rate, they might consider seeking therapy from a gambling therapist.
491  Economy / Economics / Re: Why we should prioritize investment over saving on: January 30, 2024, 09:07:36 AM
Saving our hard earned money have never been a bad idea, but their are certain things we need to consider before thinking of saving, such as inflation.
Inflation is truly the real enemy to every money that is being saved up, because when the time is right like a year time, when it should be used for it purpose, the value wouldn't be as how it actually was when you started saving it, but on the other hand, if we have been investing that money into Bitcoin, land or gold bit by bit, over the course of a year, the value of that your investment would have added additional value compared to our savings that will be eaten up by inflation.
So too me we should think of investing more of our money than saving it, so that  inflation wouldn't eat it up.
The concepts of saving and investment are interconnected.  Some people need to save before they invest because they don't have sufficient funds to invest in a business or product. So for this set of people saving is important. Another aspect is saving for emergencies. This kind of saving could be keeping enough funds that sustain you for three to six months without any form of income.  This type of savings is important for everybody.

Keeping money in the bank might not be the best option for people who live in nations that experience high inflation. This is because such funds will gradually become worthless over time. The best option for them will be to invest these funds in profitable ventures. However, they can decide to save their funds in a more stable currency like the dollar. The dollar is a strong currency that hardly loses value when compared with other currencies. In two years our local currency has lost almost 80% of its value over the dollar. Which entails that people who saved money in dollars made the right decision.
492  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Beware all Crypto Owners. Privatekey of Bitcoins & Altcoins Are Compromised. on: January 30, 2024, 08:33:16 AM
The next phase will be to ask people for money to help them protect their wallets or telling them to provide seed phrase to facilitate the protection process. OP your claims are not true because you have not shown any proof even in your article. This is pure fake information that should not be taken seriously.

Though the day is just breaking over here, but I did say that this is, and will probably be the funniest post i will read on bitcointalk today.

I've not gone through the article just yet, but I will do after posting this comment, but then, one question popping up in my head right now is, if this alamy site the op talked about actually have an access to every private key to every single wallet that exists on the blockchain, why don't those behind that site organize and carry out the world's largest scam?, since knowing every private key to every wallet on the blockchain simply means they have access to everyone 's money as well - why don't they make history for themselves.
Maybe he is a good man that don't want to take other people's money and just wants to offer assistance to the crypto community. I don't think anybody will believe is claim because it just unthinkable to assume this fallacy. I think he came to the wrong forum.

Some asset managers have started applying for Spot Bitcoin ETF approval in Hong Kong. Harvest Global Investments a Chinese asset management firm have indicated interest for its ETF approval. Another firm Venture Smart Financial has as said that it will file for approval. Hong Kong's Securities and Futures Commission (SFC) announced in December 2023 that they were ready to consider applications for spot ETF. I have an uncle who has the attitude of reading old newspapers and we will laugh at him. But he would tell us that newspapers don't get outdated because there is always information inside that is new to you Grin. This great news is almost two years old and I am just reading it for the first time, indeed information is evergreen.

Some people are doing everything possible to promote Bitcoin awareness and adoption. Mark Carnegie and Sergei Sergienko have decided to give Bitcoin a legacy in the animal industry. "Chrysosoma bitcoin" will forever be the name of a colorful and beautiful fly that is found in Papua New Guinea. It is also wonderful to know that a reputable organization like the Australian Museum also accepts Bitcoin.
495  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: January 29, 2024, 08:37:02 AM
Today Inter Milan won the match against Fiorentina with a narrow score of 0-1. And I consider that Inter Milan did not play well enough in the match. Even let Fiorentina have more chances. Inter Milan's passing accuracy also lost in the match. Fortunately the only goal scored by Martinez was well defended until the end of the match.
Fiorentina will have themselves to blame for losing an clear opportunity to at least get a draw. Inter Milan was not at its best and the home team mounted pressure on the visitor's defense but underutilized most of the chances created. I have never seen such a lousy penalty Gonzalez who just freely gave Inter goalkeeper Sommer the weak shot. Juventus have lost the top spot and Inter will have to work hard to maintain this lead but they still have the advantage, having played fewer games than Juventus. Martinez has been outstanding this season, he now has 22 goals in all competitions. Fiorentina sits in the fifth position the same point as Lazio and one point above Bologna.

this challenge makes the championship more fun
otherwise it would be quite boring and obvious
then the battles for the cup area are also very entertaining and make us think and hope for everyone's enjoyment

is funny
You are right, these intrigues and suspense is what make the league interesting. This is why the French League is not as exciting as the Italian League because you could predict this season's winner of the Ligue One but you can't do the same for the Series A.
496  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Are every activities/competitions with stake known to be gambling? on: January 29, 2024, 07:45:35 AM
Me: Gambling is a game of chances to winning or loosing where stakes are involved. It is an activity of personal desires to decide if you derives chasing after profits or catching funs.

However you tends to define gambling, it would be incomplete if stakes, risks and challenging activities (competitions) are not mentioned.

You can defined it your way but my interest is to understand this>>> Are sports games or related competitive activities which stakes are involved between both sides or teams also gambling?
Remember, there would be a winner to be rewarded and a looser to lose the stakes.
Any activity in which you bet some amount with the projection of multiplying or increasing the money with an option of losing is gambling. It could take any form but as much as somebody will lose money and another gain, it is gambling. Every gambling involves some level of risk which includes losing all or some part of your stake. This is why it is always important to risk only what you can afford to lose. Gambling is both an activity to entertain and to also make a profit. I don't think there is any gambler who gambles solely for fun because nobody has the intention to lose money just for entertainment.

Do you really need to tell people that you have Bitcoin? I don't see it as a good decision because it could have some negative consequences. Bitcoin promotes privacy, therefore, it will be good to keep your hodling secret.
Though OP is basically an anonymous member here and didn't disclose how much bitcoin he owns or proved that he even purchased any, it's kinda too late for that advice now, wouldn't you say?
👉 Mind who you tell about your investment: there was a time i showed a friend of mine(very close) my bitcoin possessions, ever since then he would keep on asking me to sell some let's get something when ever we wanted to go out and if I refused, it would be as tho I don't want to give and most time he would just start telling me all the bad news about bitcoin and it was not very fun since he knew about my investment in bitcoin. Speaking from experience I think its not wise you tell people about your bitcoin holdings, unless you are taking investment advice from them and they are fellow holders like you, that is if you must.
I was not referring to OP's privacy on the forum but my focus was where the author of the original post said he told his friends about his Investment and they were encouraging him to sell his coins. For me telling people that you own Bitcoin has some security risk. We have heard stories of people becoming targets of criminals because they informed some persons that they own Bitcoin. It might not be bad to tell trusted close family members or trusted friends but I don't encourage the idea of letting random people know about your investment.

👉 I've learnt not to procastinate:
The best time to buy Bitcoin is when you have the money to invest. Many people who wanted to buy when the price dropped to the level they wanted missed the opportunity to invest. But the best option for buying Bitcoin is through DCA.

👉Don't panic and apply discipline:
If you are impatience you might never be a successful Bitcoin investor. Some people have to save from their salaries for them to be able to buy Bitcoin, which means they have to be disciplined on how they spend their money. Financial prudence is important if you want to invest. There is always news that will generate FUD, investors must be focused not minding these negative news.

499  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: gambling for fun vs gambling for the financial benefit. on: January 27, 2024, 09:47:17 AM
Do you really see gambling as more of fun than a means to a financial end?
Gambling is basically a means of entertainment for me. But this doesn't mean that I don't expect to money from my bets. I don't think anybody will out money in gambling without expecting a win, after all nobody wants to waste money. it is not also wrong to gamble for money but it becomes a problem when you depend on your wins for survival. When you budget to use your gamble wins even you have not won, it shows that you have started depending on gambling wins.

Quote
how much can you put into gambling before it removes the fun aspect of gambling out of it?
The money I put into gambling depends on my income for the month. I budget a certain percentage of my monthly earnings on gambling, however, I don't exceed 5% of my income for the month.
500  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: You only got what you deserve on: January 27, 2024, 09:07:12 AM
Sometimes patience makes you afraid of taking risks. Many people do not want to invest in Bitcoin for anything other than because they are afraid of trying something new. Therefore, taking risks and taking steps that may not seem carefully drawn is a good thing sometimes, but the result must be a risk-calculated adventure and not just an emotional investment.
People also want to make instant profit, so when you inform them that Bitcoin is a long-term investment they don't want to put in money. They usually prefer investments that will give them profit in a few days or weeks. This is why many people become victims of scams and Ponzi schemes. It takes patience and bravery to invest in Bitcoin because there will always be events that will generate FUD which might make one want to sell off.

You are too categorical, OP. Sometimes circumstances beyond a person’s control arise when you have to spend something that you would like not to touch for a very long time.
HODLing isn't for everyone... If you've got a steady income and can possibly survive any vises without the HODLed funds, that's exactly when you're ready!... It's also the reasons why we keep advising newbies to not jump into HODLing 'em coins because they've heard so many people doing so... BIG QUESTION IS - How patient can you be??! What if the money vanished into thin air, won't you source out for an alternative over your said problems?
There is no guarantee that your income will be steady. Some emergencies like job losses, health issues, wars, natural disasters etc are some situations that can make a hodler consider selling. These emergencies can exhaust your emergency funds steadily and cannot have money and die of hunger because you want to a make profit in the future. A Palestinian in Gaza will gladly sell his Bitcoin to facilitate immigration to a safer nation.
