481  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][FIRE] FireCoin- 97K Fire - POS - Developer leaving on: February 17, 2015, 11:45:55 AM
Do we know who the owners of those forked wallets are?  Is there anyone still active on the board here that keeps going off on their own fork?

Not sure, only two community members have been posting Undecided I thought that the forks were someone who updated FIRE & was using it themselves, but looks like they could just be several X15 launches done off of FIRE. Which could be a good thing, which now FIRE can see which updates help & which did no good on other launches.

Edit: Chain is moving again...

last block 32880 generated ~3 ago  Huh

Someone is looking @ it (in their free time), will keep you posted & let you know when the update is ready (if they are able to fix it). There is no exchange & the wallet is in need of a fix for a few months now, I was too late on having you add the block explorer/faucet & should have done it sooner (only so many hours in the day, days in the week & months in the year). This was not an ICO, IPO, ITO, or funded launch of any kind, there was no development funds to help keep the FIRE going & most of the work done on FIRE has been the community volunteering to make it better anyway they can. So if the wallet is able to be fixed, please tip the wallet coder & let them know it's worth their time to help the FIRE community (I'm personally going to give them 1% of the FIRE supply in hope they are not wasting their time).

Hi all!

Who can say: how long the locked coin after POS operation?

5 confirmations for normal tx (10 confirmations on 2.0 wallet), 50 confirmations for PoS tx

Thanks for the quick reply & your effort to add FIRE to Multifaucet. Looks like it was too late, the block chain has slowed down & is not a problem they went to staking. After the blockchain is fixed, keep the first tx & the second is for the faucet ( + I'll send a small BTC tip for adding FIRE ). Just trying to help the community keep the FIRE going, living in the winter with no FIRE is cold Wink
484  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][FIRE] FireCoin- 97K Fire - POS - Developer leaving on: February 11, 2015, 10:46:06 PM

A simple fix for the configuration is reservebalance=<someridiculouslyhugenumber>. gen=0 is for proof of work only, as far as I know, and no longer applicable. Reservebalance will not allow anything below that number to stake.

Thanks Biomech, was actually just pointing out that the command line for PoS doesn't differ from each other (unless it's a wallet coded from scratch or a change in code through a push on github). 90+ faucets, you would think this wouldn't be a problem & might just be a way of testing what a person has to go through to get added to Multifaucet (customer care). I was going to send a tip, something like it would cost to get on CryptoID block explorer & so glad I waited for a personal test. Can't really complain, it's a free block explorer & faucet (not sure if that's a + or not)? It does look like Block Experts has made a few upgrades to their site, but thought a faucet could help those who use them & give a little redis since there is no exchange.
485  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: [ANN][MINT] Happy Birthday Mintcoin!! 2015 Roadmap on: February 08, 2015, 10:15:46 PM
Thanks am not really that interested in faucets as such but was just checking out if they actually worked.  It just plain looks bad if the official thread links to malware/spam that opens browser windows without permission add that to the lack of clear information about coin supply and it's likely to put new people off investing or buying Mint.

What information would you like added to the OP, sure that could be a simple addition & added upon request. I started volunteering for the OP on MINT when they were doing the Keepod charity & am willing to help with any further ways to improve it.

I agree with you. Links should be checked and vetted more often.

I wonder if there's a way to create a BBcode file on github, then any changes are open for the community?

Edit: Done, great idea & will have to start doing that as a requirement to show trust on updates.
Even a great way to keep a backup of the ANN, just incase BitCoinTalk or other forums are not working Cool

Ok, so now what???

Wish I knew. The code works, and quite well, so probably the next step is some form of promotion.

Just waiting for someone to show interest in FIRE, many coins (apps) are in lack of community & development. Promotion would be the best way to start, sure the timing just isn't right at the moment.

Testing Crypto - Thanks for taking the time to help. It still shows zero connections though unfortunately  Huh

Any other ideas?

I need to get this wallet to work because I foolishly already sent coins to the address in my haste to get them off the  exchanges lol
Did you get it working?

Unfortunately not.. I've been working on other things but amstill keen to sort this out.. the monetary value involved isn't great but it's still a million bluecoins that we don't want to be lost from circulation.  Any suggestions you experts may have would be greatly appreciated
Well the fact that you haven't checked yet shows me you're not trying hard enough.  Tongue

BlueCoin is working fine.

I tried the fix offer by TestingCrypto immediately after he posted it but to no avail... sorry if I didn't make that clear enough in my previous post.  I can assure you I have tried as hard as I can, given I don't know what else to try.

If I copy the wallet file and then reinstall the software and then replace the new wallet file with the old, will it keep the same address that I would have sent those coins to?  I know that's probably a ridiculous question to you but please be patient with me, it does say Newbie next to my name Wink

It looks like the block explorer that I pulled the nodes for you is 75 days out of date Huh I did find a block explorer that is on the current block though (which is listed as a faucet in the OP), make sure you back up your wallet every time you add a new address to it! If you back up your wallet on first installation, then a few weeks/months later add a new address, redownloading & replacing your wallet.dat will only save the addresses as of the time you made the backup (any new addresses after backup are lost). Here is the the site & pool I based my testing on, hope it helps you get back up & running Wink

I deff need to take a course or something to learn about coding etc... I know the basics about coins, conf files etc but deff need to learn more, Ha that would be a good type of Ebook to sell in the GAIA app store Wink

That would be a #1 seller for anyone interested in crypto (there might even be a few already), reason why I gave the idea. Hope that someone might consider making one, but even better would be a tutorial guide with very detailed info for new users. Been saying that for almost a year, seen some people make youtube videos trying to make it easy for people to understand & even they lacked some of the most important info needed for a new user of crypto Wink

P.S. They did start an actual degree around crypto, but for the ones who can't afford to pay to learn, one must learn on their own (hands on experiences).

new to bluecoin but also experiencing the problem whereby wallet will not sync; shows zero active connections to network.   tried running as admin but to no avail.  any thoughts?

tried turning off netguard for bluecoin too, no help

I tried to find you a .conf file, but I don't have one for blue the latest wallet, it seems to sync fine for me with 11 active connections. if your wallet is the latest (1.2.1) then try just leaving it running in the back ground for a few hours

This is exactly what I have in my bluecoin.conf (better than just leaving it run in hope to connect)  Wink

I hope this helps. Tired of just sitting back & watching, when I have the knowledge to help Wink

Code:

addnode=218.33.229.23

addnode=176.9.63.136
addnode=192.121.166.240
addnode=94.23.29.195

Some coders add this when wallets are updated, making it easier for the user. Should really be a mandatory thing when building, also having a blockchain option for a new wallet to sync Cool Makes me wonder if anyone has created a guide for development on supporting/troubleshooting (The IT guide for noobies, probably what they would call it) for people new to crypto, if we don't make it simple for anyone to use it, why build it? To make people learn on their own, not many people are willing to do that & if we want to focus on real world adaption, technical support is a must. We all started somewhere, but only the ones with knowledge can help the new users of crypto have a good first impression  Wink

It seems  Bluecoin (BLU) got a wrong fork.
All Bluecoin miners are redirected to the AutoSwitcher
We are currently fixing it.

Looks like several pools have removed Bluecoin, also many outdated links in the OP. Some of the social sites haven't posted in months, tough times in crypto as of late.
490  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cleanup: I'll attack some coins - I owned APEXcoin for 90 blocks on: January 20, 2015, 12:06:03 PM
He is using testnet as well. In fact he's just been working on NXT testnet at the request of many. I'm guessing you haven't read the thread thus far. He's doing a good job so far and lots of people are interested in seeing more of his attempts.

This type of thing is critical for PoS to really be considered a robust consensus system. Actually it's not great that it's taken this long for some good public stress testing/attacks. Anyone interested in the idea of PoS should be supporting people who can help strengthen it.

I'm not saying that I fully agree with how this "stress testing" is being done, but am glad to actually see it done sooner than later. Just imagine if this wasn't pointed out, flaws of P.O.S. in 100's of coins till there was Millions of people holding 100's of wallets not opened for months? Not many people can sit back & think about how many things in the world are "stress tested", creating something more reliable & stable. Just think about a world without "stress testing", the wheel would still be just a wheel & break from the slightest bump Wink

// Not that wording would change much, but maybe replace "attack < stress testing for the public".

I was using 2.01

Been long time havent sync

Now i try to sync it got stuck at some block.

I try to download new 2.015 and copy blockchain into my folder /user/roaming/zeitcoin
All my coins are gone... balance is zero.

What can i do... luckily i still have the backup of the /user/roaming/zeitcoin
How can i update and sync successfully

Thank!

Great support for anyone updating or new to ZEIT, only thing I see that could help even more is adding the zeit.conf with all the addnodes. That was the only missing step (could save a min or two on the end user side, having to pull them from https://chainz.cryptoid.info/zeit/#!network), which I hope to see as routine for helping communities Wink

// On a side note, brought back some memories of CryptoRush & CoinEX. Lost so much in testing, but that is what we are doing over the last few years right? Making it safer for real world adaption, just happy to see some light in the storm of crypto as of late Cool

3/27 Clean Water Coin UPDATE:

Innovative and New Charitable Organization Based on Cryptocurrency
Clean Water Coin

SAN CLEMENTE, Calif., March 27, 2014 -- Today, Clean Water Coin, a non-profit organization that has designed and developed a cryptocurrency "coin" that specializes in raising charitable funds, announced its launch as the first Crypto Charity. This California based NPO seeks to forge a strong relationship between the budding cryptocurrency industry and the non-profit sector by offering a new and innovative way to donate to a charitable cause. "We designed Clean Water Coin to have a function that donates a small portion of every transaction. So any time people mine or use our coin they are actively participating in a new peer-to-peer method of supporting charity," said Zach Mettra, Co-founder of CleanWaterCoin.org. The organization collects the coins from each transaction in a Charity Wallet, exchanges those coins to Bitcoin, and then donates that to charity.

Bitcoin, the most recognized and popular cryptocurrency, has made headlines over the last year because of its increasing value and ability to offer an alternative to the current economic system. The growing community that supports Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies, like Clean Water Coin, has recently shocked organizations around the world by raising substantial funds for charity.

"People have mistakenly attributed a negative reputation to crypto. The whole movement is based on freely exchanging and improving this technology and infrastructure, and there's hundreds of thousands of people cooperating and working together. It's no surprise that the community is extremely charitable and willing to donate to help others in need," said Hyrum Taylor who co-founded the organization. "With Clean Water Coin, our goal is to direct all this positive energy and offer a completely new way to give to charity."

Clean Water Coin will officially be available starting Sunday, March 30th. The organization states that they will initially be donating all funds they raise to charitywater.org, where they have created a campaign called "Clean Water Coin." When asked why they chose charity: water Zach said, "We researched a number of charities and they really stood out to us. They promise that 100% of donations go into the field and they back that up by running a truly open-book organization. Internally, we've set a goal to emulate them and operate with the same kind of honesty and integrity."

The current state of cryptocurrency is one of the most incredible opportunities any of us will likely participate in throughout our lifetimes. What we have is an innovative and paradigm breaking vehicle, and what’s so intoxicating and alluring is that immediately before us we have these critical check points that are leading cryptocurrency towards an evolutionary period that will determine the fate of an entire industry.

Except for a couple examples, the majority of new coins that have launched in the last 3 months have been successful at achieving only 2 things: profit and deterioration of our industry. We have been plagued by scams and copy cats for weeks. If we continue at this rate our greed will kill this beautiful system. Do not fool yourselves into thinking that Bitcoin and cryptocurrency are so innovative and superior that they will simply rise to their places at the top of the economic world. You need only remember Edison and Tesla to have a prime example of how the better ideas and technology do not always win.

It’s time for our community to actively choose an evolutionary path that leads to continued growth and wider spread acceptance. We must move beyond this period of stagnation. You can help. You can make a difference. How? By supporting only the most creative and innovative coins; and by making that choice not based on greed but thoughtful consideration.

Despite all that doom and gloom, it’s amazing to sit back and watch the crypto community; at times there is so much goodwill and charity where people are donating their time, talents, and money. It has been inspiring to see coins and groups of people rally behind differing causes and Clean Water Coin. Experiencing it first-hand and participating has left such a lasting and profound impression on us that we could not stop thinking about how we can do more. For several weeks we met and discussed what we could do. We knew cryptocurrency offered an incredibly unique opportunity, you could see it in a few coins that were increasingly focusing on Clean Water Coin. The community is inspired and motivated, ready for that positive evolution. We believe we can offer the first of many steps down that path.

Introducing The Clean Water Coin Initiative

Water is the single most important necessity of life. For some of us, access to clean drinking water is as easy as turning on your faucet. But for nearly 1 BILLION people, clean water just isn’t available. In most cases, men, women, and children have one single source of water that is so polluted and contaminated it has become a poison. As a result, more than 4,000 people die EVERY DAY! 9/10 of deaths that are a result of unsafe and contaminated water are children under the age of 5. It’s difficult to fully comprehend that kind of devastation. But focusing on stats and merely discussing the issues won’t help, it’s time to actively participate.

The Clean Water Coin Initiative is the first ever coin designed and developed to be a nonprofit organization. What does that mean? We are a registered Nonprofit Organization and we’ve created a Crypto Charity and coin that lets a community actively participate in helping provide clean water. To do that we've teamed up with CharityWater.org so that we can create campaigns and raise funds for clean water projects. Also, the community can easily track exactly how we are doing by visiting our campaign page.

Give to Charity + Save Lives by Mining + Using Clean Water Coin

We’ve built a unique function into the coin network so that everyone who mines or even uses Clean Water Coin will be helping save lives around the world. Every transaction will donate 0.1% of that transaction to the Charity Wallet, here’s an example: I’ve mined 1,000 Clean Water Coin and I request a manual payout from my pool. As a result of this transaction 1 coin will be donated to the Charity Wallet and the remaining 999 is sent to my wallet.

The Clean Water Coin Charity Wallet

All donations will go to the Charity Wallet and from there will go to our CharityWater.org Digital Drop Project. To prevent flooding our own market with donated coins we will set a recurring schedule to exchange to BTC, this will help to prevent large sums building up over extended periods of time and exchanging all at once. We intend to exchange BTC to USD in order to donate to charity: water. We will also offer the community the ability to purchase Clean Water Coin from the Charity Wallet. Pricing will be established from a market average and the amount of coins available will depend on total donations to the Charity Wallet. More details regarding this feature are soon to come!

Adding Value to Clean Water Coin

We recognize that there are many factors that go into the valuation of a coin. Some of those things we can attempt to control and affect, but others rely on the community, exchanges, and the industry. So rather than only relying on trading and exchanges to dictate pricing, we’ve gone to great lengths to add value to holding and using Clean Water Coin.

The first way we’ve done this is to provide advertising opportunities that can only be purchased with Clean Water Coins. We’ve beautifully integrated an advertising section into CharityWater.org, on each of our wallets, our official and temporary pools, and our official faucet. We’ve also developed code that can be imbedded into pools and community sites that will give more people an opportunity to participate and be charitable without having to donate money or coins. Don’t worry, we will have a strict policy for appropriate content and types of advertisements--we don’t want this to become a burden for the community, it’s intended to be a benefit. Check out some ad examples below:

Clean Water Coin Wallet Ad Placement

Clean Water Coin Pools Ad Placement

Another way we intend to add value is to offer an official source to purchase Clean Water Coin for BTC rather than having exchanges as the only source. All the coins that we will sell will come from the Charity Wallet and the BTC will be donated to charity. Offering this service will be valuable to the community because it allows us to convert the Charity Wallet into BTC without going to an exchange and help us to donate the maximum amount to CharityWater.org

Future Development

We also have a roadmap of features and services that we are working on and will be able to offer in the future. We can’t reveal everything incase one of those features falls through--we don’t want to promise more than we can deliver and let down the community. However, here is a sneak peak of two features in development:

WATER Rally - Use your Clean Water Coin to purchase tickets to attend events to help raise awareness and further our cause. We are currently planning out events now.

Write-off WATER Donations - Once we obtain our official 501(c)3 status donating WATER to the Clean Water Coin Initiative will be tax deductible! Achieving this goal is already underway but it is a difficult and long process. There will be some restrictions but as we get closer to our goal we will share the full details with you.

Tom14Cat14 has granted access to the Twitter page, now the community has another way to keep updated with rebuilding/improving FIRE. It would have been tough to get back all the followers from the launch, it will be granted to anyone who wants to rebuild/improve FIRE Wink I will also create a new ANN when I get a chance too, which will go with the Twitter page.

P.S. I'm just making sure FIRE doesn't fully break, it will still need a dedicated team to get it going again Cool

For some reason I have never gotten any message from you crypto. I have the twitter for you if you want.

Thanks, I will check into it & work on cleaning it up for the FIRE community. It should belong to the FIRE community always, so if a team or business wants to rebuild FIRE. I'll give them the account, also if the community wants a new ANN & the login info, that can be done as well.

P.S. Would you be willing to give the FIRE community the Reddit page as well, the community would have to buy the website, as that would have cost something to purchase the domain. Would you know how long the website domain is good till, maybe a few updates on there in the near future as well? Maybe an access/login just to make updates, in the future?

**Just some ideas to help the community rebuild**

Does anyone have any good suggestions for how we can continue improving the first post on this thread? https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=408268.msg4424910#msg4424910

Quick links or inline links, helps scroll to a certain area in the OP. There are a few ways to do it, but it really helps if you only want to view say the mining pools or new updates from a phone or tablet. I tried to add them to each section when building it the first time, but that was a little bit too much & just went with the top/bottom of the ANN's (OP's) with one link in between each section to the top (like you see on most websites).

P.S. Glad to see DigiByte after it's first year, started mining on miningpool.co last year. Great work DGB team Grin

We should try to shoot for an exchange or are we still in the rebuilding phase?

Actually not even in the rebuilding phase, Tom14Cat14 took everything when he left FIRE. We would have to create a new ANN, Twitter, Reddit, Website, Github, etc... The only thing FIRE has going for it is a working wallet,  block explorer & website (not sure who has control of firecoin.tk), but if we get enough people showing support? I will create a new ANN, but I don't want to be considered the developer, community manager or lead, just one of the community looking to help a broken coin work again Cool

Nice, very nice. I like it!

This is exactly what I have in my firecoin.conf

I hope this helps.

Actually it should look like this, the additions after the nodes are just my troubleshooting efforts Wink

Code:
addnode=node.firecoin.tk
addnode=23.80.94.149
addnode=162.243.198.24
addnode=68.107.74.181
addnode=50.83.9.153
addnode=24.85.126.229
addnode=46.165.208.140
addnode=178.62.213.65
addnode=209.73.145.186
addnode=87.92.120.68
addnode=83.151.12.70
addnode=209.73.145.186
addnode=213.87.129.246
addnode=94.209.33.80
addnode=87.92.120.68

Just incase anyone else has the same problem:
Windows
start > type %appdata% in the search bar > open the roaming folder > open the firecoin folder
create new text document > name it firecoin.config > make sure it's .config & not .txt.config

Right. Never seen such a project. Huge potential im here. Dev delivered real innovation. The cryptoworld has to see that. We need more marketing...
I believe in gaia. It is the coin in 2015!

This is no basic copy/paste, a lot of hard work had to be put into building a wallet like this & so far it's a + in my book. Hard to believe no one has started asking several questions on using the wallet, must be all experienced users so far. Been saying for over a year now that there should be detailed tutorial videos, make it easy for the non-technical user to utilized the wallet & more people may test it Cool Even tried to create a few in the past, but without any experience in design & they were nothing compared to a real professionals work Grin

Still staking so I guess all is still good with this blockchain.

Somewhat, it does need to be looked @. I'm just not qualified enough to fix anything, but will keep an updated ANN for the community.

Got a windows download link? Could you upload it somewhere? I don't think I have the latest wallet... I'd like to double check Smiley

POST-EDIT: Ok, website is 404 for download, but there's a new [ann] a few posts before mine... That one gives this download link: https://mega.co.nz/#!pgAATRqC!LQKc9hD_7wnNXgahnGikBMz_Yyr0ZOD-6-BPrUaXPeI

POST-EDIT 2: Still ain't syncing well. So I tried to add nodes, but where and how to do this? Console doesn't understand, and I couldn't find a firecoin.conf... ;p

I'll update the backup ANN post with both versions 2.0 (original) & 3.0 (market additions by s3cr3t1), but I'm sure you figured it out already on syncing Wink
