How is something that was already assumed to be true in physics going to affect finance?!?!

Nonsense thread IMO.

I also think that once bitcoins become more valuable, people will be more cautious to lose them.
487  Bitcoin / Development & Technical Discussion / Re: Help test: version 0.6.3 release candidate 1 on: June 21, 2012, 09:03:38 PM
Runs fine on Ubuntu 11.10.

There's one thing that I also noticed in 0.6.2: I can't access the menus (they don't show up when I point my mouse to the gray bar at the top of my screen). So I'm not able to encrypt my wallet..

Can you post a screenshot?

Dia

Funny, I was about to make a screenshot of it and suddenly the menu was there.

489  Economy / Speculation / Re: Block reward changing to 25 BTC 6 months for now on: June 16, 2012, 06:56:21 PM
When ASIC mining comes online, blocks will be generated much faster before the difficulty adjusts to it. I'm betting that the reward halving will be much earlier than the current projections.

In fact, if the ASIC miners are smart, they bring their hardware online right after a difficulty adjustment.

I think it could also be change. If a big wallet pays a number of smaller amounts, the total bitcoins sent adds up very quick.

The wall at Bitstamp just moved to 5.9.

498  Economy / Speculation / Re: Rally!!!!! on: May 28, 2012, 11:30:37 AM
Somebody just bought all bitcoin for sale up to 3.7 gbp at intersango (was trading at ~3.3 gbp).

Could Intersango buy coins at their own exchange to make up for the Bitcoinica loss?

I doubt that they would do that as such a premium above the market price.
Also, they have publicly stated that they were just hired to help secure Bitcoinica.

500  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: BTCChina - Highest trading volume ever today on: May 27, 2012, 05:37:03 PM
The sudden explosion in volume makes be believe that this is at most a handful of people buying bitcoin at btcchina. I wouldn't get too excited unless they can maintain this trading volume for at least a week.
