481  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: New Alt Coin on: May 08, 2016, 10:56:47 PM
New to this website and this is my first post.  I am looking for a programer(s) that can work with us in cloning and then customize us a new alt coin with all the things that go along with it -- wallet, apps, and so forth.  Can anyone point me in the right direction?  Thank you.

Why would you want to make another clone? The days when you could make quick money on clones are pretty much over

How can i invest in bitbay?

Bay is traded on Bittrex, Bter, and C-cex. You can also buy directly in BitBay's own market. The biggest volume is usually on Bittrex
483  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Syscoin vs Bitbay on: May 07, 2016, 01:35:17 AM
No disrespect for syscoins marketing team (they are doing a great job), but this is just the way it is in crypto. Sys and Bay have tended to be around the same price. A few months ago sys had half the marketcap that Bay has now, and then they had their pump. The pump in Bay has not started yet, so if you already have bought you can sit back and enjoy  Wink

Bitbay - better than Lisk and has more dev but isnt been marketed. Bitbay will have python, has a decentralised market and is goning to get pegged! . . .do your homework and stop been sheep guys! Bitbay is gona be huge

I think the Bitbay ICO was in 2014 the Bitbay exchange is up and running. What are the better features of Bitbay that you are talking about. Is it some new development? Which exchanges exept Bitbay-exchange have Bitbay-coin tradeable?

There is a lot of development in BitBay. BitBay will be the first fully decentralized market going out of beta. Release version will come end of this month. The list of improvements and bug fixes is to long to post here. When release version is out, the updates will come fast. First out is templates for the main market.
BitBay is traded at Bittrex, ccex, Bter, and in it's own market.

where has everyone vanished to.. we were building a decent momentum for a while. I know the new templates are out any day now but nice to keep the chat going on here instead of vanishing to slack.

I guess some only are active when price is moving. Others are busy testing, making videos etc. We have a lot to get ready for the release, so that limits the time we can spend on BCT.

Most likely a big wallet has come online

If you have trouble connecting to the network, and have followed the above instructions without getting anywhere, you are most likely to have encountered on of the below.

1. You are blocked by your antivirus
2. You are blocked by your firewall
3. You saved the bitbay.conf file in the wrong location or you saved it as a .txt file instead of a .conf file

Please check for that, and if you still have problems, let us know.

Edit: You need to restart the wallet after adding the conf file.
Hi Mate, thanks for trying to help. However, I checked all the above including the conf file and my qt wallet does not get any connection to sync :s I have quite a bit of BAYs and I want to get them out of the exchange however I can't. What else can I do? Thanks

I forgot to mention that installing somewhere else than default location can be the source of trouble too. If you installed to default location, I suggest you join us on slack http://bitbay.market/wp-login.php?action=slack-invitation
Just ask for me in general channel and we can start troubleshooting step by step
I downloaded the mkt client and it's synchronizing  Grin however my blk001 weights 1mb does the bootstrap works here? where should I paste it? >bitbaydata? or bitbaydata>database

Cheers

Yes, bootstrap works. It was last updated a month or so ago. Bootstrap goes in same folder as your blk0001 file.
Use notepad, and write this:
bitbayd.exe -datadir=%CD%\bitbaydata -loadblock=%CD%\bootstrap.dat
Save as a bat file.
Dobbelclick it after saving to start it.

file name? I got the bootstrap from the 1st page of this thread hope that's ok

Bootstrap from 1st page is fine. You can name the file anything you want. I called mine "bootstrap.bat"

I have some keys somewhere on my hard drive from my old bitbay wallet which stopped working, I tried to contact support via skype but in the end never managed to retrrieve them, Should I bother?

Yes, absolutely.
What OS are you on?
492  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Announcements (Altcoins) / Re: Official BitBay Thread |Smart Contracts Wallet UPDATE|Decentralized Marketplace on: April 10, 2016, 10:41:15 PM
The connection issue is now solved.  Smiley
The nodes that are hard coded into the QT wallet needed to be manually restartet after server maintainance
I have no problem. Thanks for the nodes.

I got no problems either.
Just a question. How long will the old wallet be usable. I've been using that one from the start and i become a little bit emotional to depart from it.

You can use it until we go to POS3. Probably last quarter of this year, but can happen sooner.

I ran a test, and the nodes that are hardcoded into the QT wallet are not working. We will sort it out, but might take a day or two. In the meantime you can use a .conf file.

For Windows:
You can write write one yourself in notepad. Copy paste the following into a new doc:
addnode=104.236.208.150
addnode=188.166.39.223
addnode=128.199.118.67
addnode=104.255.33.162
addnode=194.135.84.161
addnode=23.227.190.163
Save it as bitbay.conf in /BitBay/bitbaydata for the client, or in users/"your user"/appdata/roaming/bitbay for the QT wallet.
Be aware that it sometimes takes a little while for the client to establish the first contact with the network

To speed up the syncing you can use the bootstrap in OP, or use http://cryptochainer.com
Bootstrap is a little faster than syncing over the network, but still takes a long time. Replacing the files needed for the blockchain with the download from cryptochainer is very fast, so if you trust them you can be up and running in 15-30 minutes.

For linux (I reduced the list of nodes for readability):

Some have reported problems connecting to the network.  A conf file will solve that.
...

for linux users:

- save a bitbay.conf file in the /home/$USER/.bitbay directory, you can do this with the command:

sudo nano /home/$USER/.bitbay/bitbay.conf

- add the following content to the conf file:

server=1
daemon=1
listen=1
rpcuser=user
rpcpassword=pass
addnode=104.236.208.150
addnode=188.166.39.223
addnode=128.199.118.67
addnode=104.255.33.162
addnode=194.135.84.161
addnode=23.227.190.163

restart the wallet and now should sync and start downloading blockchain automatically  Wink

Can someone please post the equivalent for mac?

I saw some news about bitbay include ETH!!

When will ETH say, lets collaborate with Bitbay.

Grown together, they should see that bitbay smartcontract will getting bigger and bigger right.

BitBay will not include ETH. But BitBay will make it possible to write your own smart contracts in python. This is a much more powerful solution than ETH DApps without the potential problems with bloat, loops, etc that the tech savy worry about in ETH.

Could someone please assist me with this ? my Winqt wallet still doesn't sync
