When you exchange btc for tether the exchange will sell your btc for usd behind the curtains to hedge
Shouldn't be a problem with tether... bitfinex and poloniex are the biggest exchanges..

Sounds like Lehman Brothers to me only difference being Bitfinex somehow managed to do something Lehman Brothers couldn't do. Are they too big to fail? Tether = subprime mortgage?

1) BTC doesn't work
2) ETH doesn't work
3) What could this be, big exchange fails?

I am buying back when all this settles down, if I had to guess somewhere in August/ September.

FIAT is oldschool

Old is gold sometimes...

Anybody testet tether?

Tether Tether (USDT)

http://coinmarketcap.com/assets/tether/

Fixed to usd currency.

100 million USD has been transfered to tether since may.

Stay out of it.

Bittfinex/ Poloniex money, Kraken so far only exchange with usd/usdt pairing, 1:2 leveraged trading allowed.

I do understand you need to be creative sometimes though...
484  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Profitability on: June 26, 2017, 09:28:21 PM
I've been watching crypto markets for a good 5 years now

I'll be bagholding for a good year i predict.

Agree with all you said.

Why did you, after five years, fall into a trap?
485  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CCminer(SP-MOD) Modded NVIDIA Maxwell / Pascal kernels. on: June 26, 2017, 09:03:09 PM
dont forget gold also...

I like fresh water more haha...

Dirty profitable to play with these "thanks for the cheap coins" guys...

You need to find out what combination works. I have some profitable gpu's doing nothing just because I never found that secret sauce.
487  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: CCminer(SP-MOD) Modded NVIDIA Maxwell / Pascal kernels. on: June 26, 2017, 08:28:17 PM
Coin crash today.

Only 3 of the 100 biggest altcoins is in green. 97 coins in red..

Hold or dump?

What are your strategies?

All in usd, eur, cny

Fans at 100% don't help. In mobo 80% fan 73*C, 1487(1500)/3305, 1.174 V (1.199), in riser all the same just overheat 10-15 sec after launching zcash miner, sometimes throttle kicks in at 85 sometimes shutdown at 90.

You really are pushing it. What if you limit tdp? Limited tdp + overclock usually works. I still think it is your riser.

edit: mobo bios updated?
489  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: XFX R9 390X overclocking in a weird manner on: June 26, 2017, 05:59:08 PM

I have tested it in SATA, Molex and PCI-E risers, other cards are sitting in them right now and nothing like this is happening to them. Any other trails?

What exactly happens when temps rise? Fans, voltage and clocks? You tried custom fan settings?
490  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: XFX R9 390X overclocking in a weird manner on: June 26, 2017, 05:01:05 PM

so 35 dream is gone I guess, harder to mod bios on hawaii than rx 4xx/5xx so I'm not touching it.

34+ speeds require core clocks way beyond 1200, that needs more volts = more heat and noise. Just not worth it imo, fun to play with though.

Modding hawaii straps only speeds up equihash and cryptonight, dagger doesn't get a noticeably boost.

About your last remark, had no clue about Be Quiet being a bad choice, but mixing GPUs - well I decided to give it a shot, 'cause price, and it worked out of the box really, but by no means it was meant to be a professional rig.

Haha, it's not a bad choice, it just the most critical component (well after risers) on a mining rig so it really needs to deliver.

Thank you for your time, if you point me to your ETH wallet, I'll send you something.

Happy to help someone who still fights with these old dinosaurs, if you do some research you will find that hawaii is still very profitable mining gpu, maybe even the most profitable single gpu there is. I am afraid that's going to change soon and we are back to maximum power saving...

do you by any chance have a clue why would the 980 Ti overheat to 85*C and throttle, or even 90*C and shut down, while in a riser, but put it in mobo and all is fine? Mining zcash at 74*C in mobo, 500 Sol/s. Riser instant overheat in 10 seconds.

My guess would be a bad riser.

491  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: $5 a day on a 1080ti from Nicehash sound right to you? on: June 26, 2017, 03:17:20 PM
USD dumps BTC & ETH as we speak, expect that $5 to be $4 tomorrow.
492  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: XFX R9 390X overclocking in a weird manner on: June 26, 2017, 02:11:04 PM
I meant GPU power limit, it is 208 watt by default. Dual mining exceeds that amount even with low dcri values.

I have seen that kind of behaviour with mixed amd/ nvidia rigs, can you try with only 390x? And with lower -dcri values?

Also Be Quiet, maxwell, polaris and hawaii on the same rig is like asking for troubles.
493  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: XFX R9 390X overclocking in a weird manner on: June 26, 2017, 10:26:06 AM
You are hitting power limit. Try eth only mining first, -100mV, 1100/1250.

If you still want to try dual mining raise power limit to +50 and try different core clocks & dcri values until you find your sweet spot. Don't touch that -100mV or setting!

edit: also hawaii is not memory limited on eth mining, 1250 for memory is enough.

494  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: I'm looking to spend $40,000 on mining rigs. Any suggestions? on: June 25, 2017, 05:29:57 PM
Buy ETH and wait.

Short ETH and wait (:

About btc38, my deposit address changed after they got wallet up and running but my xcn is still sitting in that old deposit address so it doesn't show on my balance.

"service staff: Engineers are resolving, Please wait" ))

Update:

"service staff 小叮当: Revised, please check the balance again."

I can confirm, they fixed my issue. Took some time but they fixed it.
496  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 8 pin to dual 8 pin (6+2) on: June 23, 2017, 07:19:50 AM
16 awg?  I doubt you will find that.  The wire in the wall on a 15amp circuit is 14 awg and that is rated to carry 1800 watts.  20amp circuit uses 12 wire.   18 gauge is definitely enough to carry 150 or so watts.

It is about amps not watts:

Wall// 150W/1.25A/120V //PSU// 150W/11.25A/12V //GPU

edit: 100% PSU efficiency to make it simple.
497  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: 8 pin to dual 8 pin (6+2) on: June 22, 2017, 09:36:06 PM
R9 295x2 is out of specs card with tdp of 500w and only 2x8-pin connectors, I have seen spikes of 600w at the wall when fully unleashed.

Based on my experiments with those and two normal 8-pin 200w cards chained I would say 250w/ 8-pin is easily doable but going beyond that point you really need to know what you are doing. But it is easy to test, just launch your miner and monitor connector/ cabling temps.

To be really sure you need custom male+female connectors at both ends and heavy wiring between them. In early 2016 when daily eth profits were at $5/20MH I used 20" fans just to cool my connectors...
498  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: R9 390 8GB Video Card on: June 21, 2017, 01:29:33 AM
What do you mean with point #2?

Can I damage the card by lowering the volt like that?

Core 1100 (overclock) memory 1250 (downclock).

Afterburner - properties - fan, set a custom curve that works for you.

Afterburner lets you downvolt only -100mV, trixx does -200mV.

For a test run, set clocks to 1100/1250, volts to -100mV and fan to 100%. No, you cannot damage the card.

1) better case cooling

2) 1100/1250

3) trixx to downvolt more than -100mV
