481  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: iBelink DM11G - 10800mhs - $6750 - clarification on: May 04, 2017, 02:48:29 AM

The secrecy, misrepresentation of facts and lack of disclosure in this Group Buy should create doubts in any reasonable person shelling out $6700.

Good luck and I hope everyone gets the gear they want.

this ^^ too much secrecy and lack of transparency from the get-go for me! plus that miner dosent even DO 10gh/s and is 90 days+ away, meh, Good Luck to all! Smiley

Still worth it even if its 7.5gh/s -10.8, im sure they will do their due diligence in china.
482  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Mining (Altcoins) / Re: Fourth alt coin thread last three got oversized. on: May 04, 2017, 01:29:41 AM

I am doing  a purely mathematical comparison of the two deals from the two of them against  buying and building a zec ming farm with 1080ti's.

I know both guys fairly well and have like both of them. So I won't pass judgement on whether on person is better then the other.

But I can crunch the numbers  and see if spending 6k  to build a zec farm  works better then either deal.

I will present this in a separate thread. Later today.

This is exactly what I've done, I found that 2x ZEC Miners I could build would make the money back in the time it takes to even ship those miners. It's highly unlikely I'll buy one of them at this point, too much risk because if they do what bitmain did and turn them on after they receive them for testing, cause the hash/difficulty spike and THEN ship them out. Batch 1 owners would get screwed.

I spent part of last night and all day today crunching numbers.
kilo17 deal is cheaper then bittawm

bottom line both deals are bad.

purely on math .

I assume both deals are honest
I assume you get the gear 90 days to the day after payment.
I assume dash goes 2x price to match 2x diff increase.

lets say you do one from each cause you like both guys.  In my case a really do like both people.

easy numbers are 5700 + 6700 = 12400  average price would be 6200.

what can I do with 6200  right now today.

here is what I can do.  I can buy

six of these  at 676 each or 4056  I would get 1% off in the form of ebucks.  so net is 4016  use paypal six months to pay

http://www.ebay.com/itm/ZOTAC-ZT-P10810A-10P-GeForce-GTX-1080-Ti-Founders-Edition-11GB-GDDR5X-352-bit-/172587640269?

a mobo, risers, ssd ,ram ,cpu, psu = 384 high number on purpose   so  I spend 4400 after ebucks and have 6 months to pay this.

I also have 1800 left over So I buy dash 20 coins.

So I have a 6 card 1080 ti miner   doing about 4200h of zec pulling  say  1400 watts.  that is 34 kwatts a day or about 3.40 usd in power.  and earnings are about 33.33 usd

so fast forward 90 days.

I spent 306 in power and earned 3000  which is a net of 2694 .

if dash did 2x in price the 1800 or 20 coins is now  3600 a gain of 1800

the paypal bill is not due until 180 days.  it was for 4400

 4400
-2694
______
1706 still owe
3600 since dash did double in price
____
1894 ahead.  in 90 days if dash does double.

in all cases that dash rises in price  I make some money since  I purchased 1800 in  coins of the seed money of 6200.

at 90 days  with group buy I might have the working unit.

If dash dropped in price  and diff did 2x I am dead basically zero chance of break even.

If dash dropped in price  and I do the gpu build and some dash coins.  I have 20 coins even if they went from 90 to 45  that is still 900 usd.

and I still have the 6 card gpu rig.  that I don't have to pay any of the 4400 I owe for another 90 days.

So how can I advise anyone that either group buy makes sense.  when the 4400 gpu rig 1800 dash coin deal is far safer?  the answer is I have to say no to either group buy.  since the gpu rig + coin purchase truly seems to be better.  With income stream starting asap.  vs waiting 90 days for income to come in.

You have a good point, im just weary of zec for future profits in mining when eth switches to pos, every eth miner will start mining zec prob, then imagine zecs difficulty then come november, zec could rise in price cause of that difficulty, but thats no guarantee, at least proportionally  plus amd vegas coming out within two months, 2.5-4x the efficiency who knows what those cards will do to gpu coin difficulty, specs for hashing unknown yet.

I would have more respect for them if they point blank said.  "Hey we are buying 100 miners and are going to sell X number of them".

A markup in price would be expected.  Something reasonable like a $500 or $1000 per unit would seem acceptable.  Just be up front about it.  The way this is coming across at this point seems very questionable.

At this point it would make sense to go to the manufacturer quickly and see if we could lock in 100 units if we think we can raise the funds to buy that many.
Yes, but how? I still have not located any contact info for this rig other than the russian VAR.

I find it odd that no one has pointed yet to the mfg website. All I have seen is a Russian language video.
Is there anything else to go on here?

Ive contacted them where they emailed  me specs and buying details where they said they only sold 100 units or more. Its real

When did you contact them and they replied that they are still selling them in units of 100?  I think we were lead to believe that they were all sold out already.  If they are in fact still selling them in blocks of 100 then this new price of $6750 perfectly lines up with what others are saying that someone is looking for others to fund their purchase.

Something just doesn't sound right.  If the manufacturer is still selling blocks of 100 then we should be talking to them directly and arranging this purchase.  The details are just too scarce and seem quite questionable.

I would love to see specifics here.

This is what they emailed me, i think its strange how they didnt say they were sold out either

Why every miner buying action has to be so god damn confusing, shady and full with mistery?

maybe its confusing and shady because we are trying to get something we arent supposed to have yet, it takes that to get something only a reseller can obtain and afford in their position, if this gets pulled off and works and everyones happy then its worth the risk and the small premium on the price. Imagine how much the resellers will charge us in 3+ months...and no guarantee u wont miss out even then. Baikal and pinidea are prob worried bigtime when this order ships, well at least baikal..

Wow  Thanks guys!

Really wasn't expecting so much help and response.

Right, its not that I want to sit on my fat ar#e and do nothing Tongue, I like the idea of do it yourself, I am an engineer by trade. built many a pc.. you know my main put off for the cpu and gpu route is cooling. ive seen so many graphics cards fans fail, its like a never ending circle, the big plus about the asic system for me is just 2 fans.... me likes that a lot... (its always bloody fans that fail Undecided)

What kind of graphics card is best? I have already looked and the r9-290 is popular, but in the uk its about £300 yes I have a bit of cash but I still would like most bang for my buck (both buying hardware and hashing).
these 6 card systems you can make for circa $1600 what components are you using?
if i was to build my own, would it be better to use 3 x 4 card systems instead of 2 x 6 card (less heat per cm3)
if i was to build my own what difference will a decent cpu make? can I mine that too? what mainboard / processor you think i should go for? and the most important the GPU!
I just had a look at the panda miner £2300 just seems to much for the power it delivers!

@Philip lol had a heart attack when i saw the pages.... im working away atm so ill be reading that over the next few days... its that or eat eat eat lol. (thanks for the links) ill have a read and ask some less noob questions once digested.

Dude, a little warning, gpu mining is going to change bigtime in the next few months, firstly new amd card is coming out within 2 months called the vega it will prob blow away anything used to mine eth etc at the moment in efficiency and speed, that will send the difficulty up massively and undervalue the rx 470 , 480 range meaning you could buy them a lot cheaper in 2 months. Also by november its possible eth will switch to pos which means u wont be able to mine it with cards anymore. So imagine every single eth miner now having to switch to another gpu coin like zcash or monero. Their difficulty will skyrocket then which could increase their price, but not necessarily, so just thought id let you know, with free power you should be right but you may wannna wait 2 months to see what happens with vegas specs and cheaper outlaw on your rx470/480s. Or just avoid gpu mining completly , which id do, your a little late to the game for a gpu mining investment. Even if you make roi wat then? youll have outdated cards, and a overcrowded gpu mining global hashrate on every other gpu coin. Vega and eth pos could be the end of profitable gpu mining profitability next year..
