4801  Economy / Economics / Re: The Wealth Effect - Why a deflationary spiral doesnt loom and spending go up on: March 18, 2014, 03:41:46 PM
House prices have skyrocked way beyond 2008 and people are still talking about what a bullet proof investment it is..  I think people will learn a house should not cost your entire life's earnings.. most the bad way.
4802  Economy / Speculation / Re: WTF is going on!? on: March 18, 2014, 03:27:08 PM
LTC has just been given a bunch of fuel..
4803  Other / Off-topic / Re: 40 Items to Barter in a Post-Collapse World on: March 18, 2014, 03:23:53 PM
Water purification tabs and canned food should be easy to trade for much of the other stuff Tongue

That will be 1 oz of gold for the water filter.

BUT IT COSTS $12:?!?!?!

Are you thirsty?  That will be 1 oz of gold.

The value of things will turn upside down if something like this every happened.

Although guns would probably become the thing of most value.. :S.
4804  Other / Off-topic / Re: Do you Find Cats annoying? (Almost killed mine) on: March 18, 2014, 03:22:28 PM

I love how the one guy mentions how he tought apple had always been the best and Joe goes into the technical details and the guy just goes bug eyed.  Mmmmuli-tasking?
4807  Economy / Speculation / Re: WTF is going on!? on: March 18, 2014, 02:03:27 PM
Wait what, why are people panicked about the blockchain being offline.
Bitcoin isn't falling nor is the blockchain itself?

This is what must be taught to ALL BITCOINERS.. We should be shouting this from the roof tops people, we must be the teachers.
4808  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Bitcoin buying sites on: March 18, 2014, 01:58:44 PM
Local bitcoins? Though you will have to pay a bit more. Still not a huge difference in the grand scheme of things. I bought my first $80 worth of bitcoins at $580 when the official price was in the low 500's.

This, go to local bitcoins, you'll over pay but not by much.  Best way IMO for people not ready to get onto an exhange.. or not willing to go one one, can't blame you for that.

"If bitcoin was so good they would remove the encryption so everyone would know what is going on, it's clearly doomed to fail as everything is encrypted"

I... I...  why do people speak?
4810  Economy / Speculation / Re: WTF is going on!? on: March 18, 2014, 01:54:56 PM
According to BTC-E it is not falling that much. So, either People are very slow this time or better informed than the other times ...

I think bitcoin is currently made up of fearless investors.. we lost the chickens in the drops from $1200, most players now read before selling.  (this is 100% speculation)
4811  Economy / Speculation / Re: Why do people still think we can make it past 1000 anytime soon? on: March 18, 2014, 01:20:24 PM
Blockchain.info not helping.

Seems to be driving LTC up

So if the price of BTC reaches 10k will max be a hero for telling you to buy at $1200?
4814  Economy / Speculation / Re: Prepare for March 16 Dip on: March 18, 2014, 12:55:33 PM
LTC is making some nice gains against BTC :O.

ALmost dipping below $600 now.
4815  Economy / Speculation / Re: Saw the future on: March 17, 2014, 08:18:06 PM
When bitcoin starts to move.. it's going to get crazy. IMO the next bitcoin price move will happen within a week and it will move 1000-10000%.  IMO paper is going to start looking a lot like paper really soon and when that happends.. gold, silver, food, BTC is going to get crazy.  I really think that is what is going to drive the next bitcoin price rise.. the housing bubble never popped..  Food and water are true wealth...  sorry went a little off track there.

a 10k% increase would imply $60k lol

u really think we gonna see $60k/btc in less then a year?

I don't know if the price will jump again that quickly.. but it could.  When the bubble pops.. certian things are going to explode in value.  Houses are currently "the best investment out there".. that "common knowledge" is going to blow up soon. A house is a place to live not a peice of bullion.. people will re-learn this soon.
4816  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Who the hell is Max Keiser? on: March 17, 2014, 08:13:50 PM
Although Max Keiser is quite a funny financial pundit, he often promotes horrible financial decisions. Promoting people to continue buying at the top of bubbles (silver a few years ago, and recently (late-2013) with bitcoin).

I wouldn't be surprised if he was actually selling most of his holdings when he is most vocally hyping.

He was also telling people to buy BTC when it was $10...

I think he's great - as already mentioned, himself and Stacey make a good double act - he makes economics/finance interesting, and lets face it some of the subject matter could be a bit dry and boring otherwise.

Its great when I can listen to a US ex Wall Street stockbroker on a Russian TV programme being broadcast from London talking about China, gold and bit coin.  Grin

It definitely isn't the BBC  Wink

I love listening to him and Stacey on youtube!
4819  Other / Off-topic / Re: What would be your plan in the start of an apocalypse? on: March 17, 2014, 05:37:10 PM
Can I "cheat" a little?

I am in the major city situation, say I have a lot of spare food, Smiley, food is wealth don't ya know.  I'd fill up everything I could with water, and hideout for a little over a month.  Hopefully most people have died or dispursed, I'd try to make it to one of the islands out on lake misoka after that but I would require more people.  One does not survive alone.  It would depend on what exactly happened though, odds are your are going to need to make an army or join one..  Not the typical armies we see now but if things went to hell warlords would become kings again, be one or bow to one.
4820  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Considering buying a bitcoin miner on: March 17, 2014, 04:34:52 PM
When setting it up VIA wifi, I just have to type the IP of the ant miner in my browers to connect?  Or do I have to do it like a router and connect via hardwire?

Depends if you're close or far from the router.  I personally connect the Ant through ethernet cable direct to the router, punch in the default ip 192.168.1.99 into a browser, and voila I'm in the Antminer config.

If you're unable to connect via wireless or wired, search the forum for "Antminer setup".  There's step by step by Dogie and Sushi which should be helpful.
