So they theymos can collect the data and complie a list of most used browser if he wants

Any website can do that. Some do, some don't. Imho it matters more for websites with more complicated UI/functionalities which may also need different coding for different browsers.

Just got curious after knowing this.

I would not be surprised that we're basically withing the percents from everywhere on the internet.
So I'd start with
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Usage_share_of_web_browsers
https://www.w3counter.com/globalstats.php

Firefox 96.0.1 was released yesterday, fixing the problem.

but as a form of self-awareness because I don't have thick skin

I would take the point there in being somewhat more careful to avoid mistakes.
And, as said, I would grow thicker skin. You'll need it bot inside and outside this forum.

The Thick-Skinned Gang

I'm not sure we need such a gang. I mean, if half of the forum would qualify for that gang, then I'd call it "the society", not a gang.
4803  Economy / Reputation / Re: [Bounty Cheater] Please help tag this user them. on: January 14, 2022, 03:36:04 PM
If you don't flag the cheaters you catch, what's the point of doing this at all. What are we changing?

Actually posting all the evidence and asking DT flag is also a pretty good course of action.
OP has posted some, Awaklara added even more evidence and now the cheaters are painted in red.

I've stopped tagging accounts, since last month's incident. but if I'm allowed to tag them, then I can do it.

I don't know about "last month's incident", but you should keep in mind some important things:
1. Since you're only Full Member, it sometimes can be a bit "risky" (may need a better choice of word here) for you tag others, since retaliatory feedback do happen.
2. Since you're not DT many may ignore your tag.
3. If you are certain about somebody, I don't see any really good reason not to tag him. And yes, errors can happen, we are humans. In such case apologize and move on.
4. If you get have many busted scammers/cheater and you've tagged them it may get you faster into DT (just a hunch).
4804  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Binance withdraw stuck for days! on: January 14, 2022, 03:24:28 PM
what make me wondering is that they give me wrong information and not as same as what i write to open the case.

I didn't have issues with Binance, but I did meet my fair share of bad support agents here and there.
All I can say is: try again, give the exact full information, be overly patient and maybe you find a brighter one who will actually help you/see what has happened.
4805  Other / Off-topic / Re: Bank Of America Cuts Overdraft Fees, Eliminates Insufficient Funds Fees on: January 14, 2022, 11:50:42 AM
The official narrative says: banks are removing these fees due to them having a negative impact on minorities and vulnerable communities

Could there be another explanation for this move, in terms of banks seeking ways to be more competitive with cryptocurrencies and 3rd party payment apps?

While cryptocurrencies may never completely replace banks. They could benefit consumers by encouraging traditional finance to offer better terms and services. Perhaps market competition isn't such a bad thing after all?

While the banks are still big in the lending business, they get competition there too, from both IFNs and crypto related businesses. Crypto is still small impact, I only mentioned because we're on a bitcoin forum, really.
Their problem is that competition does exist. And we live in an information era. People find out on the internet much easier that they can use other company's similar product with less hassle and less fees.
And the banks have no choice but find some lovely reasons for it and get to cut here and there from the worse fees they have, so they can keep their customers.
4806  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Cloudbet has confiscated funds in violation of their TOS on: January 14, 2022, 10:32:54 AM
I just sent a PM to those DT members (NeuroticFish, logfiles, dkbit98, Jawhead999) who supported the flag. I would like to hear back from them as they supported the type 3 flag according to this accusation.

I don't find normal to hide behind the KYC requirements for something as small as 0.005BTC, especially since OP didn't play with the money and he was asking for the account get closed and refunded exactly because of KYC.
So something is super fishy there. And with Cloudbet not bothering to say a word... imho the case is clear.

PS. Mass PM-ing like this is not nice (spam), no matter how good the intention would be.
4807  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: I need test audience for a project on: January 14, 2022, 10:22:13 AM
I was about to try and match @NeuroticFish's open orders, but with little to no load, it's not reachable at the moment [this is the second time I've experienced it in the past few days]; in other words, I don't think it could handle a heavy load!
- If I were you, I would've publicly shown/listed all of the open orders.

I would clearly not do such (stupid) things if it would not be test environment with test money Cheesy

However, I cannot see the results because I'm getting ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED (I've got that basically every day now and then, including twice today)
It may be that OP is working on the website and I am just unlucky though.

Update: now (14:57 UTC) the site works, but my orders are still not matched.
4808  Other / Meta / Re: Fix unresponsive Firefox on: January 14, 2022, 09:15:07 AM
@NeuroticFish
Btw, have you mentioned this to theymos? Do it.

I don't really think I should. It's a problem of Firefox (not bitcointalk) and the Mozilla devs know about it - may have already fixed it too: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1749910
4809  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin vs Altcoin environment on: January 14, 2022, 08:26:59 AM
I expect the current excitement over DeFi and NFTs end sooner or later, then we'll see what projects will prevail. I guess that will be few. I hope I'm wrong.
What if this is just the beginning. I've tried some of these defi products that's work on financial aspect like lending and borrowing and earning or yielding interest which is good that I may not be able to use on btc aside from holding. I believed the next hype is the full blown metaverse.

People need something new, some hype, now and then, some new trend. See fashion, colors, perfumes, even the look of your smartphone and browser are governed by "trends".
I guess that the same goes to financial experiments. There will always be something new for baiting small fish and make some smart guys rich.
And why not? few of those inventions may be actually good and stay. Actually I guess that a few of the 2017/2018 ICOs are still up and running too.

Sorry, not some pleasant news. But imho also far from unexpected. I guess that those waiting need more hope and patience.
On the other hand, with some luck, it may cost way less bitcoin to buy it Grin
4811  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Don't panicked if bitcoin illegal in your country. on: January 14, 2022, 08:03:49 AM
As I said, you need the money and the information.

I agree to that. I'll add thought that one may need some amount of luck too (i.e. to be "in the right country").

If you have  a few thousand dollars  to invest in the bank, you can find a bank basically anywhere.

There are also some new fintechs like n26.com which allows basically anyone anywhere in the world to open an account in just a few minutes (I have an account there and I have never been to germany). However,  they have restricted a few countries recently.  You can check there if you need.

I've just checked n26 and it normally handles a very limited number of countries - not even the entire Europe (for example it's not available to me). I agree that multiple such fintech companies do exist, especially in Europe, but the problems we talk about are mostly on other continents where this kind of solutions are not that common yet. Also they need to also be bitcoin friendly.
And we both know that some of the countries are just prohibited from this kind of services - and it's usually the countries with the better chances to also ban the use of bitcoin.
4812  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin vs Altcoin environment on: January 13, 2022, 06:01:08 PM
I feel that most of those telling that all altcoins are scams are people who don't care that much about bitcoin either as technology; all they care about is price and profit.
Then yes, since they've got disappointed or potentially disappointed by altcoins, they say a lot of things.

If one has a bit more knowledge or it's at least open minded, he can see that altcoins:
* can be testing ground for various ideas which may or may not get into bitcoin itself
* open new horizons - from smart contracts (with good and bad) to full anonymity or different ways of storing data and sending transactions

Yes, many (most!) altcoins and tokens were made only for quick money. But scams do exist in cryptosphere with and without altcoins / tokens.
Imho the altcoins that only changed the mining algorithm are more or less copycats/shitcoins and kinda doomed (and unfortunately Litecoin may be in this group too).

Unfortunately for the altcoins, their price is extremely dependent to Bitcoin's - because this is how exchanges were made and this is how people's investments go - and this makes them a risky (and often bad) investment. The fact that many were built as scams or became scams (or just deserted) didn't help.

I cannot tell much about DeFi and NFT though. They are imho not mature and not properly thought. Current way of handling NFTs is sub-optimal to say it nicely, leading to potential problems. DeFi had its share of hacks telling by itself that it needs.. something. But I was here in the golden age of ICO, hence this time I chose to stay away. I expect the current excitement over DeFi and NFTs end sooner or later, then we'll see what projects will prevail. I guess that will be few. I hope I'm wrong.
4813  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Don't panicked if bitcoin illegal in your country. on: January 13, 2022, 05:37:35 PM
One can travel abroad and spend their bitcoins there, where it is legal. Or he can just sell it in an international exchange and move the money to an bank account in another country.

While you're right that one can travel abroad for this, most won't do it. Of course, if one is already rich in fiat, he does travel a lot and can do this, or doesn't even care much about bitcoin. But others, unless they live near the border,... not much of a chance. They may have the holidays and everything in-country. And I fear that this is the people whose life can be changed the most by bitcoin (for example by getting easier, better paid jobs over the internet - just in this case they may need to be part time or only partly paid in bitcoin)

Having account in international bank or a bank abroad may not be possible or allowed everywhere. But maybe I'm wrong. And anyway, too many don't have the knowledge and means to open such an account (I expect that most banks will need the people go in person open the account, for example)

I don't say that the ideas you wrote are bad. Just they may not be doable for everybody.
4814  Other / Meta / Re: Fix unresponsive Firefox on: January 13, 2022, 03:24:59 PM
I haven't had any problems with the forum even though I use Firefox. It is possible that the thing is in the FF version, and for me, the last update was to 96.0 1-2 days ago.

You may have been lucky. If you have the patience, you can read at least 2 Bugzilla pages:
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1749910
https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1749908

They tell from alternate solutions (I didn't know about) from the issue being fixed in the last release (I don't think that most of the affected browsers will get that update automatically, since the users don't know what to do).

Clearly sooner or later this http3 setting will need re-enabled. Maybe not today, but still... (I will wait until I am 100% sure I have a new version running.)
4815  Bitcoin / Project Development / Re: I need test audience for a project on: January 13, 2022, 02:53:52 PM
Some small news.

I've got also some ETH (thanks SFR10 for the link) and:
1. My buying orders and my selling orders don't get matched - I know, it might be intentional.
2. Nobody seems to have orders to match mine - I know, it may be too few users.

However, I have to ask if the part that should be matching the orders actually works.

3. On the same page, a "refresh status" button would be nice.
4816  Bitcoin / Legal / Re: Don't panicked if bitcoin illegal in your country. on: January 13, 2022, 02:02:48 PM
I find the biggest problem about bitcoin being illegal in a country that one should not buy/sell bitcoin. If he does, he can get into trouble, no matter what OP tells.
However, there are ways to earn bitcoin if one has the skills and the patience. And this can be just enough. Sooner or later bitcoin will be unbanned and one can find himself quite a HODLer at that point. Of course, it needs trust and patience at super high levels.
4817  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Pakistani Central banks wants to ban crypto on: January 13, 2022, 01:52:29 PM
Quote
The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) is reportedly seeking to ban all cryptocurrency transactions in Pakistan.

1. There will always be some who prefer to piss against the wind. Sadly it happens now and then. But it's far from sure that this ban will actually ever happen in Pakistan.
2. "Seeking to ban" means absolutely nothing. It's like the announcement that there may be an announcement. If more important things would happen, this would be ignored by these news agency wannabes.
From seeking to proposing and from there to getting it to be come law there are plenty of steps and time.
4818  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Cryptocurrency market is growing good,..???? on: January 13, 2022, 01:29:00 PM
Cryptocurrency market have been growing good with more and more number of people getting into the market. By the same time there is more and more unwanted promotion being done around. In recent days more cinema professionals who aren't good enough with cryptocurrency are promoting different projects and exchanges. Recently I saw a tweet from one of the leading Bollywood actor promoting a particular project. Is this destroying the goodness of the market or it is a necessary one.

The harm was done long ago. Way too many ICOs, scam coins, scam businesses (ponzis - either simple, either disguised as cloud mining) and so on were promoted in a way or another in the past years.

Now, while TV stations ill most probably not allow advertising for likely scams because they'll get sued, this doesn't happen on the internet.
Google returns ads to scams in their results.
FB and Twitter don't spend much time removing posts that are advertising likely scams.
And I talk here about all scams, not only crypto.

So, does it matter that this happens also with scams related to crypto? Not much. The harm was done long ago.

About that particular ad: we don't even know if that particular project is scam or not. Crypto is more than bitcoin. People have to understand that, people have to be wiser in clicking links and (not) believing all the advertising around them.

I don't think that such ads make any difference. Not in 2022.
4819  Other / Meta / Re: BitcoinTalk Newbie of the Year 2021[Voting] on: January 13, 2022, 09:12:12 AM
So there's a tie between n0nce with 1 vote, and the thread starter with 1 vote Cheesy

I think that people may have been expecting that nomination also counts as vote. At least I thought so and I stopped paying attention to this topic.
However, all this didn't get enough traction. Maybe it should have been completely different topic for nominees and actual voting, I don't know...
4820  Other / Meta / Fix unresponsive Firefox on: January 13, 2022, 08:54:34 AM
To the mods: I don't know where to put this. I feel it's somehow forum related, since one has to use a browser to get here.

I don't know if people having troubles will get here, still, it worth a try.
I've noticed today the Firefox has become unresponsive while browsing the forum. The problem was Firefox (and not the extensions or anything).
And the fix is easy, I've found it on twitter: https://twitter.com/jbaiter_/status/1481543050438619139

Quote
If you're having trouble with #firefox, try disabling HTTP3 in about:config with the 'network.http.http3.enabled' key. After setting this and restarting Firefox everything worked again.

So:
about:config
Set network.http.http3.enabled to false.
Restart Firefox (may need to do it with task manager).

Update: this fix is obsolete now. New Firefox version was released (96.0.1), it has the proper fix, you better update to that one (and revert the http3 setting to default)
