4801  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: My ledger got hacked on: September 02, 2021, 09:59:42 PM
Even if you log in to a public wifi, your funds are supposed to stay intact on your ledger, unless of course there are other people knowing your login credentials that is. Or your machine itself is infected by something, but even then the funds should still remain intact.

Have you checked whether there are others around you that know of your crypto activities? They could possibly be the ones who might be behind this.

To be honest I should have deleted this seed from the cloud. I saved it in June 2017 and I completely forgot about it. This was the very first time I have ever used crypto. I guess it's a way to learn a lesson. The 1 million dollar question is if there is any way to recover. I know it is not possible, just asking...mostly out of desperation

Where are you receiving your 2FA notifications? Through your mobile device or some other machine?

As for recovery, I don’t think there is a way for you to get back the funds as it was already sent to another address.
4802  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will Bitcoin hit $100,000 before the end of the year? on: September 02, 2021, 08:23:21 PM
Improbable is not impossible, so there is a chance for bitcoin to reach that heights before the end of this year. Trading volumes are somewhat picking up, too, very recently and you can hope to see that it’s something for the positive and not the negative. Right now, the market is moving sideways and is not in any strong market direction, so it will be boring from here for a few weeks before we finally see some action in the market again.
4803  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Is NFT a Future of Crypto? on: September 02, 2021, 01:56:06 PM
It's a good investment, but I guess it's still not enough to be the future of crypto.

NFTs only cover the value aspect of crypto, and it doesn't cover much transactions and any other intricacies of it. NFTs will be a hit when it comes to keeping value and collecting certain things but not replacing the current state of crypto as a whole. Leave it to bitcoin, ETH, LTC, and any other forerunners of crypto to carry the flag of what crypto should be. NFTs have its own space and own use.
4804  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Credit card bans introduced in Ireland. on: September 02, 2021, 09:44:19 AM
Isn't it logical to prevent credit card gambling since the start? As that will promote borrowing money in order for people to gamble, and they end up getting drowned in debt way faster than they thought they could because they are enjoying to play and are thinking that they can easily recoup their losses. Once you are in front of the PC and playing the hell out of your mind, you will not really think much about where you're getting the money from, leading to absurd amount of debts that you will be having a hard time to pay.

Overall I think this is just rightful IMO. If they ban buying crypto with credit cards, they should also ban gambling using credit cards as it is more accessible and riskier than the former.
4805  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Spain bans betting adds - no celebrities, no sport sponsorship, no daytime adds on: September 01, 2021, 09:58:14 PM
There are still tons of places to advertise gambling platforms even if Spain removes a bulk of where the advertisements come from. If the goal is to limit minors’ exposure to gambling, then I don’t think they are doing enough to achieve it. The internet is still a place wherein minors can easily access gambling-related content, and goodluck censoring the internet as people will go above and beyond just to get the information that they want in this day and age.
4806  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Affiliates (Paid Streamers) - Fair or Not to other non-paid gamblers? on: September 01, 2021, 08:17:33 PM
And this is why some streaming platforms are trying to limit gambling streams. You have streamers who gamble with their own money and lose big time, while you also other streamers who are affiliates and do not lose anything on their own pocket yet still convey the similar thing: promote gambling to minors who may be watching their streams. I think it’s fair that some are paid-to-play on stream as it’s within their terms. The gambling platform has the right to decide on who they sponsor after all, so no need to get butthurt if other streamers are not chosen for the partnership.
4807  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Can we do what China did to gaming with gambling? on: September 01, 2021, 06:40:00 PM
It will only make matters worse.

The more you restrict people from doing something, the more that they will do things in order to just get their fill of it. Just take a look at lockdowns during the pandemic. Most people hated being restricted within the confines of their homes, hence some of them are breaking quarantine restrictions in order to just go outside and do what they normally do. This can be the same with gambling, and with that strict of a regulation, people will seek underground gambling platforms in order to just play, or to get their fill of gambling.

Also, morality comes second to the government, especially if they are gaining a lot from the industry. They are earning billions from gambling alone, so why would they restrict it or put some heavy regulations about it?
4808  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Do you gamble to make money or for FUN? on: September 01, 2021, 02:33:13 PM
Nowadays, I just gamble for fun as i have already accepted the fact that I will never make bank with gambling and that i will never be a professional gambler. It’s one of those things that you will learn eventually after many losses. Plus, if you have a stable job that pays well, you will no longer feel pressured when it comes to looking for other sources of income, or trying to hit the jackpot from a lottery or any other gambling games there is.

Been gambling for fun for years now, and I don’t think I will ever feel pressured to win that jackpot, or at least win something from the gambling platform again.
4809  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Coinbase Sponsors New MrBeast YouTube Video! on: September 01, 2021, 10:46:47 AM
Thats honestly one of those collabs or sponsorships that isn’t an eyesore and is just natural as the video creator isn’t bound by any bullshit terms for the sake of the sponsor’s exposure. No annoying fills, no big annoying banners, and it honestly feels like the video is just a normal Mr. Beast video due to the flow of the content and the video.

Coinbase definitely is a great sponsor that only wants to get their message across without having the need to demand some crazy things to those creators/services/websites that they sponsor.
4810  Economy / Economics / Re: El Salvador retirees protest against Bitcoin as legal tender on: August 31, 2021, 07:53:47 PM
The protesters are probably afraid of change that they know little about. What the government of El Salvador can do is to just continue with the planned start date of the law and place infographics and some flyers re: benefits of using bitcoin as legal tender and how it can help their economy. It will take time for the whole population to understand the benefits of bitcoin but it will come as long as the government is sincere in their efforts to educated the masses alongside making bitcoin a legal tender in the country.

Also, the government isn't forcing its citizens to use bitcoin, so there is still room for pensioners and old-timers to use whatever they want to use in buying things and receiving payments.
4811  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: ESPN into a betting deal worth 3 billion dollars $$$ on: August 31, 2021, 05:04:30 PM
This is a no-brainer for them, considering that they are already an established sports news and coverage organization that is known around the world. It's only a matter of time before they dive in to the world of sports betting, though at this point there are a lot of serious competitions that I don't think it would be easy for them to penetrate the market. Nevertheless, it still depends on the lines that they offer, how well their website design is, and how good are their offerings on the games.
4812  Economy / Economics / Re: Cuba the next country to accept cryptocurrencies? on: August 28, 2021, 07:41:03 PM
AFAIK, some Cubans are already utilizing bitcoin and cryptocurrencies in order to transfer funds from outside the country in order to avoid high fees. This may or may not be beneficial to the citizens given that they are trying to skip the fees and avoid the hassle of getting under checks and the long process of the banks. However, if the country legalizes cryptocurrencies, this means that citizens will no longer be afraid of exchange or trading it into their local currency, so long as they pay the necessary taxes during these trades. All in all, I'm still unsure on whether the outcome for this is good or bad, but hopefully it favors the interests and sentiments of the Cubans that are reliant on cryptocurrencies.
4813  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Monthly target in trading. on: August 28, 2021, 04:05:52 PM
I have tried this when I was just starting into trading. But over time, I realize that the more I see my targets, the more pressured I become to hit it and the more I lose in the process. What I just did instead is to delete a set plan and just record any gains and loss I may have for the week, and just tally how I fared for the month. It's a lot easier to do and less stressful to follow, and you can be very flexible with your trading patterns as you are not restricted to a set amount of profit in a short span of time.
4814  Economy / Economics / Re: Do you think financial stability is mandatory to be a gainer in Bitcoin invest? on: August 28, 2021, 03:19:50 PM
It certainly helps, but I don't think it's mandatory.

There are those who went rich from bitcoin who were not really well-off back then, and are just trusting everything to go well for the cryptocurrency. They had balls of steel to believe in something that was not "plausible" at the time, and they were lucky enough to still be here when the world saw bitcoin's potential.

Even today, one can still be a gainer if they believe in bitcoin, and set aside something and consider it as an investment for the future.
4815  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Euro 2020 caused a spike in gambling issues on: August 28, 2021, 02:27:50 PM
Well, this is to be expected considering that there are indeed a lot of gamblers during these types of events. Most of the time they stake huge money in order to participate and support their favorite teams. I have nothing against that, although I find it over the top to bet your life savings on your favorite team just to support them. But then again, people differ from each other, and some are just gutsy and feeling lucky while others are outright dumb and stupid for believing that they will win against the odds.
4816  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin as primary currency on: August 28, 2021, 10:10:38 AM
Depends on your expenses and your responsibilities + finances. You will have to strategize on your finances very carefully if you are planning to live frugally and invest a huge portion of your salary into bitcoin or something else. I would advise against receiving your salary in bitcoin as it might present to you some legal problems re: taxation if you are still not sure on how to file it correctly.

If I were you, I would just receive my salary as is, buy bitcoins, keep whatever money I need to live with and hold those bitcoins that I bought. Pretty straightforward and removes the hassle of legalities that may arise.
4817  Economy / Economics / Re: Bullish? Bankers Issue ‘Seismic’ Warning: crypto could replace USD in 5 years on: August 28, 2021, 08:18:21 AM
One thing's for sure though, they (cryptocurrencies) have shaken the foundation of money as we know it, hence even why bankers are thinking of making the switch into cryptocurrencies. It will take a while before we see crypto being issued on banks, but I think it is the way forward for our society. Also, I don't think this is a sign that bitcoin or any other decentralized crypto will take over, it's just that crypto will just be prevalent in our society and there is a possibility that bank-issued cryptos will arise.
4818  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Has crypto cloud mining got market? on: August 28, 2021, 12:52:14 AM
Cloud mining has long been gone, and any platform offering such is likely going to scam you, or give you a contract with insanely small gains that even if you mine with them for 3 years, you still won't get your ROI. It's a no-brainer for a mining firm to just hash on their own and get profits steadily rather than let other people use it and share the profits with them. It just doesn't add up, and it's a flawed model no matter which POV you look at.

I'd rather just buy bitcoin, hold it for a few years, and watch my profits go up. At least I own the coins.
4819  Economy / Speculation / Re: The arrival of new people in the world of cryptocurrency is really fun on: August 28, 2021, 12:00:13 AM
Yet most of them come in to the crypto world thinking that it's a one-way highway to riches, which is clearly not the point of cryptocurrencies.

A lot of my friends have been bugging me on cryptocurrencies and how will they get rich on it in the shortest amount of time possible. I told them that it's not what it always is and that like every other investment they need to be patient. They invested in several scam sites and ended up cursing crypto and advocating that it is a scam.

It's good to have newcomers, but even better if they are well-versed and educated on the risks before placing their money on it.
4820  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin will be more effective in the future on: August 27, 2021, 10:54:43 PM
I expect that the current generation will improve bitcoin and cryptocurrencies and take it even further. The reason why bitcoin and crypto isn't widely accepted and regarded as something that is worth having is because those who are seated in the political seats, together with the head honchos of different industries are old timers that refuse to accept change. Once the younger generations took control of the government, the industries, and everything in between, perhaps that's the time when bitcoin, alongside the idea of cryptocurrencies, will flourish and will be accepted on a large scale.
