very nice rally looking for the 32.2k by days end.
4822  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 21, 2023, 04:47:50 PM
Big pump of the month is yet to be accounted. This is where I sold all last time before the ATH. I bought back recently of course.

Looking for 35k by weekend.

I remember the 400 usd to 800 usd move years ago. It lifted all the miners up bigly.

I will look for charts

April 2016 400 and change
June 2016 770 and change

this lift kept all miners afloat till the huge fall 2017 rally.

I would like to see a similar lift here say 40k .

By the way it would be a full year early if you believe in 4 year cycles.

Potential good news for miners:

https://www.yahoo.com/news/oppressive-unbearable-heat-wave-scorches-161530976.html

Maybe Texas get 80 days of smoking hot weather starting now.

This could drop diff bigly 10% for 2 months.

OceanGate raises $18M to build a bigger submersible fleet and set up Titanic trips
https://www.geekwire.com/2020/oceangate-raises-18m-build-bigger-submersible-fleet-get-set-titanic-trips/

Quote
OceanGate will take advantage of lessons learned during the construction of its carbon-hulled Titan submersible, which was originally built for Titanic journeys. Rush said tests that were conducted at the Deep Ocean Test Facility in Annapolis, Md., revealed that the Titan’s hull “showed signs of cyclic fatigue.” As a result, the hull’s depth rating was reduced to 3,000 meters.

“Not enough to get to the Titanic,” Rush said.

That meant the Titanic trips — which had been planned at first for 2018, then 2019, then 2020 — had to be put off until mid-2021. By that time, Rush expects the new submersibles to be ready to enter service. He said mission specialists who have paid more than $100,000 each to participate in the Titanic expeditions were “generally supportive but disappointed” by the delay.

It takes 2 1/2 hrs to reach the 3,800 metre depth where the Titanic lies.
Comms were lost 1 hour 45 mins into the dive.
So the sub would have been around 2,700 metre depth. Very close to that 3,000 metre maximum depth rating!

The fact that the 2021 and 2022 (one in each year) Titan expeditions went well seems to be just dumb luck.

The last expedition to the wreck of the Titanic with a sub that had the proper depth rating was in 2019 (a sub called Limiting Factor - which is rated at 11km! depth).
The Mir submersibles used by James Cameron 33 times had a rating of 6km.

There were never new subs built by OceanGate, it appears to have tried to patch up the original Titan and make do with that.
Stockton Rush appears to be was a complete idiot and a murderer.

4 eye rolls for the other passengers / pilot. RIP.

Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes Roll Eyes

I read the Titan is rated to 4,000 meters.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/missing-submersible-how-deep-1.6882739

I found the 4000 meter number in three articles can’t find 3,000 meters in any articles so far.

Back on point we got above 29k for a spilt minute or so.

Pushing it at 28777 maybe we crest and stay over 29k by the morning
4830  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer BTC/USD - Bitcoin price movement tracking & discussion on: June 21, 2023, 01:03:11 AM
I wonder what kind of stuff members would be doing with btc at $500K (10 tril)?
Make plans? Too early? 30 mo is just 2.5 years.

one step at a time bro

a new ATH at 70k next year
maybe 100k gets topped next year.

oh hats off to buddy 28k!

I was actually responding to the post by @OgNasty (without quoting it directly).
I can keep up the idea of both 70-100K next year and 500K in 30 mo in my head simultaneously, especially if it would result in the lack of premature selling at 70K, lol.

If we get to 70k and I am alive I am selling some. Not much but some.
4831  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: NEW POOL on: June 20, 2023, 11:59:34 PM
the hash rate is 26th it may take 100 years to hit at that hash rate.

1000th is about 0.00241btc a day

or 0.0241 btc in 10 days

or 0.241 btc in 100 days

or 2.41 btc in 1000 days with no 1/2 ing

or 6.btc on 2,500 days which is over  7 years and 40x the hash you have

4833  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: ASIC Miner's Efficiency , Where Does it Stop? on: June 20, 2023, 04:16:17 PM
well considering  that s7 to s9 was 4.7th at 1300 watts and s9 was 14.1th at 1300 watts about 3x the hash for the same power the drop off was huge
since the s-9 came out.

I do not see 10 watt gear anytime soon.

96,415,795,387.686

actually 53t works fine.

It needs to be close to 53k or a shit ton of mines will fail.

Most mining gear is in large farms.
A 1 megawatt farm is not that large I am about 200kwatts of power I am a small commercial farm.
Plenty of farms are 5 megawatts and up.
So I see a strong move to near 50k or a disaster for large mines.

I estimate that a large farm now needs a 40k price for next fall to breakeven.

Fall of 2023, I assume.
The large difficulty move is perplexing, for sure, although price made a move similar to difficulty in % YTD (50-60%).
I saw the price of btc at about 35-40K at the halving, but now, with Blackrock submission, it could be higher as ETF, if approved by the EOY, would front run it.
Maybe 50K or even higher, however, if miners would also add into this, they would have troubles around actual halving because the 'flow' would be cut in half.
Is it possible that a newer silicon would be ready by then? S20 or something like this with 12-15 J/T.

Diff added 34 to 51.

in 6 months.

efficiency is reaching the bottom or the top

s1 2000 watts a th
s3 1000 watts a th
s5.  500 watts a th
s7.   250 watts a th
s9.      90 watts a th
s15      60 watts a th
s17.     33 watts a th
s19.      29 watts a th
s19 xp.   23 watts a th
s21.  may only do 17 watts

much like a gallon of gas there are limits to what it will do

ie no car burning gas get 1000 miles to the gallon

a 15 watt or 17 watt miner does not fix price when coins are 3.125 a block.

if you hodl fall of of 2024 next fall price will be over 50k or mines will fail bigly

this fall mines can survive at 25k.

Blackrock’s (BLK) iShares Bitcoin Trust application to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) this week might stand a better chance than previous attempts by other fund managers thanks to the promise of a “surveillance-sharing agreement” between exchanges.
On page 36 of the Nasdaq (where the proposed ETF will be listed) 19b-4 filing, it's stated that to mitigate against market manipulation, Nasdaq will be brought in to enter into a surveillance-sharing agreement with an operator of a spot trading platform for Bitcoin (BTC).

https://www.coindesk.com/business/2023/06/16/blackrock-may-have-found-way-to-get-sec-approval-for-spot-bitcoin-etf/

-------
“If the Blackrock ETF does get approved, the real winner here is going to be $GBTC,” Adam Cochran, a partner at venture capital firm Cinneamhain Ventures, wrote in part of Twitter commentary at the weekend.

“Because Blackrock will show the path to conversion, and GBTC’s 40%+ discount will resolve on top of industry growth.”
Cochran said that he thought BlackRock’s offering has “good odds” of getting U.S. regulatory approval.

“Very different structure than other efforts by a behemoth who doesn’t lose. ‘30 act redeemable trust w/ redemptions (unlike GBTC) + proposed rule change filing. They came to play,” he added.

----
P.S. It is intriguing also what will be the outcome of Greyscale vs SEC case. There are some unconfirmed rumours that Fidelity is also preparing a spot ETF acquiring Greyscale trust. All this looks pretty promising for better times. Who knows, perhaps this is the last chance to buy Bitcoin at these low prices?!?

This news matches the constant difficulty increase for all of 2023.

The largest difference in this price drop slump after 2021 compared to 2017 is we never had a difficulty fall off like the oct 2018 to june 2019 time span.

A lot of big companies are pouring cash into mining. We are doing 2-4% diff jumps all of 2023.

Jan 2023 diff = 34t
June 2023 diff = 51t

a full 50% jump in diff a lot of cash turned into gear.

Me mine has jumped a bit over 100% in this time frame.
4839  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: Free electricity, just the equipment left. on: June 19, 2023, 01:55:46 PM
And the site platforms that you can trust that are good for buying bitcoin mining are Canaan, Nicehash, Bitmain and Hut 8 Mining.

Nicehash has mining software, but it doesn't have mining gear, and neither does hut8 they don't sell Asics anymore.

I live in a federal school environment, and as a result, we have free-constant electrical supply,

What the hell is a federal school environment? And how would electricity be free just by that?
Some guy might open a workshop and draw 600kw of power every second, would the infrastructure even hold?
I see you have a post in the Bangladesh subforum, just yesterday I was reading of another member bitching about daily power cuts, how do you expect to start mining for free with this happening?
https://www.reuters.com/world/asia-pacific/bangladeshs-worst-electricity-crisis-decade-2023-06-07/

If it's the old school meter it's better, because there is no measurement on the electricity consumption, only bills monthly,

An s19 burns 72kwh a day, 2100 a month, by European standards that's how much a 5-8 classrooms will consume a month.
Do you think that adding 3-4 times the consumption will not be seen?

at best one L3+ pointed to nice hash will earn close to 1 dollar worth of btc at nicehash.

it will burn 20kwatts a day which is 600 kwatts a month.

the gear is quiet but I can tell you 600 kwatts will likely be caught.
4840  Economy / Economics / Re: I thought there was an egg shortage. on: June 19, 2023, 03:00:04 AM
I prefer jumbo or largest sized eggs.

Summer 2021 $1.59 to $1.89  USD per dozen

Jan 2023 $6.99 to $7.19 USD per dozen

June 2023 $2.16 to $2.36 per dozen

I know for a fact as I know a local large egg farm that feed cost was mooned to them.

3x the price for feed.

Feed prices dropped Around April 2023 and eggs prices are close to normal.

This is central New Jersey, USA

the egg farm is:
