4841  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin sell-off over? Strong ‘buy the dip’ signal flashes for the first time on: March 03, 2021, 09:50:30 PM
I picked an experience with the 2017 bull and bear. After the bull then I saw a lot of sell and the reason was because of fear. Fear because price got to a level of doubt and hodlers starting pushing investment to altcoins and that drop bitcoin. Similarly, it happened this time that price hit a high and many were scared. We have bitcoin still selling above $40k because of institutional buyers.
4842  Other / Politics & Society / Politics and Destiny, a case of Dr Okonjo Iweala on: March 03, 2021, 03:03:36 PM
I did contemplate titling this topic as the challenge of a girl child in Nigeria but I choose that topic because of the politicking and destiny involved in it.

A girl child in Nigeria and Africa at large was relegated to the background in time past. In the family, she was seen as that person that should only to be trained to be domesticated, a good house wife and to know how to take care of the husband sexual urge and produce children for him, male children particular  Grin that will take over as heir to the husband. More seriously,   a home without a male child was seen as the fault of the woman which was a misconception and bereft knowledge of xy and xx chromosomes during cupulation. Female was not seen as a sex that should also have dream and aspiration, voice and party to human existence. A man whose intention was to have one woman as a wife, that can change because of male heir to the family. Then, training a female child was frowned upon just because the woman was seen as not belonging to the Father's family but to the husband's.

Now, modernity and education are changing culture, things are changing in Africa and Nigeria. Sexes of a child seem to be fading away because of global change. The female child is now put to school and the effect is enormous. Women in Nigeria are coming to the table and the latest is Dr. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala.
She is 66, the first woman and the first African person to serve as the World Trade Organization's director-general.

She is selected by 164 member states to replace
Roberto Azevedo, who resigned on August 31, 2020.

She was destined to lead the WTO as circumstances holding her down all gave way to selection that will last a 4 year term
Okonjo-Iweala’s victory in the race last fall was delayed largely because the United States administration under former President Donald Trump supported another candidate. Her appointment came through last month when the administration of President Joe Biden cleared the way for her selection at the trade body, whose rules require consensus.

It was believed  that the exit of Donald Trump who supported another candidate against Iweala for her lack of trade negotiating experience and the resignation of same candidate gave her victory at last (your Goliath must give way for you this year) accession of obi iwula. As the current World Trade Organization(WTO)The "politicking" was high which got her stocked for a time until she received the support of the new American leadership, Joe Biden's administration.

She is the first woman to lead the organization and also the first citizen of America at that level of the job. Of course how job is going to be tedious and she is expected to be at the centre of the trade war between China and western economy. We are talking about a Nigerian woman that was never sent to school to acquire education, knowledge and some certification to back up her aspirations and dream.

She is impacting the world with her brain

4844  Economy / Economics / Re: Google Finance adds Crypto tab on: March 01, 2021, 11:26:30 PM
This is positive for cryptocurrency. I remember after 2017, almost all social media sites went against bitcoin ads and that brought some fud in crypto space but now they are beginning to come up to it Facebook taking the lead with Libra. It is more profit list if they ban crypto and they realize this and embracing it. Different institutions are going for cryptocurrency and while not for google. Grin
4845  Economy / Speculation / Re: Automated orders affecting price dip? on: March 01, 2021, 10:40:42 PM

By automated order, I mean anything anything at all that didn't involve a human actively trading.

Putting an order while you are not there for it to have a trigger when price is there can also be an automated order and this is possible to affect price to deep or bull because traders can follow that to make order or not. I'm not a trader but I believe the range of your orders can make orders do an analysis of their trade and follow up if your having the same order as they.
4846  Economy / Economics / Re: Reserve Bank of India - Most confused financial entity right now! on: March 01, 2021, 09:34:33 PM
The rate at which government is turning U with cryptocurrency regulations is allarming, probably they are afraid of how bitcoin is making moves and they don't want their citizens to get quick rich and if that's the case, government are actually surrounded by shallow mind.
The same thing has happened in my country, the government want all financial institutions not to aid deposits and withdrawal into crypto exchanges.
There is always an alternative to every problem, simply use P2P.

They are novice in the system of governance and are traditional. They don't understand the system and are terming it to be bubble.

You have some understanding that these decisions are fuds to my knowledge to pull price down. During the last ATH and the drop, many politicians bought and this is what may happen  this time but unfortunately , the price may stay up there for long.

The price of bitcoin is high and difficult for investment, everybody including government officials want to invest that is why you get critism.

4848  Economy / Economics / Re: Why is developed nations asking money from other nations? on: March 01, 2021, 05:30:22 PM
The loan stuff I see is a new and growing trend. Before this time around like 30 years back, it was not a popular phenomenon but it is now a new speck. Many countries that can take care of themselves have gone off that to also have a reliance on third world nations. Some reasons for this I think maybe,

I believe is just the trading pact that has occasioned this act of loan or borrowing from even developed countries to less developed and "smaller" nations.

Again, they say you have to be closer to know your friend and those you have relationship with. The developed nations are moving inside the frontiers of less developed natons with the guise of loan from them.

They also do that for exchange of manufactured products, man power and skilled labour. They are all consideration in the loan agreement that you don't see in public is just from government to government.

Is another type of colonialism called neo colonialism. They do that to allow easily access to move to there country for jobs. That is the beginning of brain drain.
4849  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: At what stage are we now in the crypto space on: March 01, 2021, 03:34:43 PM
I think the current stage is integration stage. where traditional institution should merge with blockchain projects to enhance the markets. with the pandemic still affecting business at large and with no sign of reducing.

The stage does not have to be included with covid-19 pandemic. Pandemic itself does not set the stage or cryptocurrency adoption backwards but it is has set the stage 100x forward.

Pandemic made cryptocurrency more relevant.

The stage is a time to see banks collaborating with blockchain where apart from bank transaction in fiat right from your home, you also transact with crypto ATM in every retail shop without going to bank ATM.
4850  Economy / Economics / Re: How do you define rich? on: March 01, 2021, 12:52:48 PM
Being rich is divined of very different way. I feel having liquidity that is capable of multiplying real cash in a monthly bases. Apart from being comfortable to help your self and take care of your family, I see being rich to be able to help others at all times, donate to charity, even supporting government. Yes, if you can donate and help government financially I take it as being rich  Grin

4852  Economy / Speculation / Re: Elon Musk and BTC on: February 28, 2021, 06:58:49 PM
Counter-question for you - which investor with a clear mind would not invest in an asset that has achieved an ROI of as much as 32745.69% since 2013?

I am saying that is it like a lottery since BTC reached 20 000 in december 2017. After that it managed to go under 4 000 in january 2019. Since then it went up and down like a pendulum and there is no way to predict which direction it will go. That's what I am talking about and not about early investors that like you mentioned achieved an ROI of as much as 32745.69%

Don't get confused about bitcoin or the pendulum it moves. Institutional investors are now taking over and they don't worry about price and that is why btc market cap keep increasing. Don't compare 2017 and now, not the same. I think the era of 2018 or 2019 drop has become a past.
4853  Economy / Economics / Re: holding bitcoin from early 2010 till today on: February 28, 2021, 06:29:10 PM
I doubt to see who is hodling from beginning up until this time. In 2016 when bitcoin was below $1k, it would have been possible but not this time. They would have sold at least during the 2017 bull run.

Surely, Satoshi is holding it, and in huge amount haha Cheesy as others pointed it out, people who have been holding it for so long, are really too rich for to disclose their fortune which is nothing but an invitation of crimes against them Smiley

Are you saying there are no whales at the moment, hodling large quantity of bitcoin but are secured in their wallet? You only need to secure your coins whether hodling from beginning or currently.
4854  Economy / Economics / Re: Trading Bitcoin in Africa Is a Way for Some to Escape Poverty on: February 28, 2021, 05:16:59 PM

ICOS were not perfect by any means. But they did allow the poor access to accredited investor level opportunities.

But do you know rich people have better access to bitcoin than the poor? It is the rich who has better knowledge about bitcoin and gets better information when to acquire and wait for bull. A poor guy may likely can't research and understand halving, time for bull and other factors necessary to hodl or dump.

The rich has investing power more than the poor and can acquire and manipulate the space against the poor.
4855  Economy / Economics / Re: Nigeria will overtake India in P2P on: February 28, 2021, 09:03:37 AM
I don't think that will happen because India has so much population and the news and information about crypto and Bitcoin is really growing viral and more people are getting into it Grin but at the same time, the ban on exchanges are lifted by the Supreme Court so there are official exchanges which might reduce the P2P transaction if India goes more into pro-crypto. Let's see, what the future holds for countries and their P2P and crypto population Cheesy

Population doesn't really matter in cryptocurrency adoption on a country. You may have too high population but the majority of the population don't adopt the idea of cryptocurrency. In Nigeria as of now, many youth take care of themselves and they find a means of survival which one of it is cryptocurrency because the government don't provide jobs. The youth keep introducing their friends and that is already showing in the record as Nigeria being the largest bitcoin user in Africa and second in the world.

4857  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: When is the right time to gamble on football. on: February 28, 2021, 05:40:37 AM

Should gambling be taken as fun or as a profession? I chose fun because gambling is not predictable.

Yes it has to been taken as fun because in a profession you want to outshine or be better than colleagues which may be deliberate attempt and if you adopt that kind of professionalism with gambling, you will fail.

Gambling is a game but involves staking of money which changes the way it should be perceived.
Make gambling fun just as a game you play and you see more winning because you are relaxed and likely to record wins. On the contrary, if you are seeing it as profession, you will put a lot of pressure on yourself. Gambling is not to be seen as source of regular income to avoid pressure.
4858  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Better than before on: February 27, 2021, 03:42:34 PM

crypto was never this popular and more supported in the past, Tesla, mastercard, PayPal, Microstrategy etc where not here before, even if the bull is slowly fading the high adoption rate still stands

It may be dropping yes but it can't be compared like in the past like you rightly said. These big buyers are longtime investors and that means they won't be selling off soon. Sell off is a major reason that bitcoin deep just immediately that it starts to because individuals fear to lose large sum so they sell to cut of big losses. For institutional investors, they have the sole aim for profit and not for the fun of hodling bitcoin and they won't sell to a point that they can make profit and that keeps adoption going as price go higher too.
4859  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The good side of banning btc in Nigeria on: February 27, 2021, 08:32:57 AM
Correct points , It is not only the bad effect is what Nigerian Crypto investors must understand but also the good effect.

I remember my fathers told me that In Publicity it doesnt matter if it's good or bad because both comply to Publicity so that is what made this better.

Those who has no idea or doubting crypto in the past will not had a chance to look deep into it and learn what is good or what is bad.

Yes it opens more people to it. The publicity is always good because of this kind of exposure that we are now observing on the Nigerian crypto community. Some of my friends have been asking to know what is cryptocurrency and before this time, they are not showing concern. If proper orientation go out to more people and the government eventually change there decision which by implication will make cryptocurrency legal, I believe more adoption of crypto and bitcoin will increase.
4860  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The good side of banning btc in Nigeria on: February 26, 2021, 09:51:59 PM
Maybe the timing of banning bitcoin is wrong, as people are seeing bitcoin so bullish, people will believe that the government took their opportunity to make money from bitcoin, maybe if they ban it when bitcoin is dumping, people would be convince that it's a good decision by the government to protect people from losing their money.

The timing is bullish and that is why the people see it like government is short changing them from having profit from the market. Like you have said, if it was during the bear then people's voice will be heard in support of government ban.

I guess the effect from the public would completely depend on the people. I'm not sure with the case of the Nigerian people, but if this would happen to the United States, there would definitely be a lot of people on the defense— the likes of the human rights communities, libertarians, and other people and organizations that are quite against government control.

Yes Nigeria and Nigerians are trying in their strength. The lawyers have gone to challenge it in court, many other bodies are speaking out. But you know how African democracy is, not really democratic where the voice of the people will be heard and followed. So America practice a kind of democracy from that
of Nigeria
