4861  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Would it still be profitable if bitcoin went down to $1 a bitcoin? on: May 08, 2014, 12:28:17 PM
Hells no!

Difficulty still in the billions, and electricity costs sky high for expensive miners.

$1 value of Bitcoin would not pay the bills or mining costs.
4862  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: The Wolf of Bitcoin on: May 08, 2014, 05:26:41 AM
Ehh, I'd rather watch the Wolf of Wall Street again.   Cool

Without the references, this skit just doesn't stand on it's own.

thats the nature of a spoof my friend... you have to get the references.

I get the references, the execution just wasn't there.

No fault of them, they tried.  Maybe it was writing, or the choice in actors, I don't know.  Just wasn't funny as it could be.

4864  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: What are my chances to earn/mining bitcoins? on: May 08, 2014, 04:46:08 AM
If you're in China, depending on your proximity, you can walk in, buy, and pickup any of the miner manufactured over there.

Bitmain, Avalon, Black Arrow, Gridseed, Lightning Asic, Bitmine etc are all based in China.

Probably should go there anyways and talk to them about mining to educate yourself.  You'd probably get a better price than us!
4865  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] KNC November Jupiter 750 GH/s $1700 OBO (Madison, Wisconsin, USA) on: May 08, 2014, 03:46:30 AM
Is this still for sale?  If so, why are you selling it and could you post some recent pics, thanks.
4866  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: WTS knc jupiter +extra board (5 hash boards) (710 Gh+) [october model] on: May 08, 2014, 03:37:05 AM
Do you have pics of the unit?  What are the costs to ship to the US?
4867  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] Oktober 6-unit Jupiter 890+Gh/s on: May 08, 2014, 03:28:15 AM
Any pics?  Escrow okay?

Still waiting... no updates.

I think they mentioned May 8th as the next official update, probably sometime mid day for the western customers.
4869  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Black Arrow 28nm 100Ghash Bitcoin ASIC from $1.99/GH/s, miners from $2.97/GH/s on: May 08, 2014, 02:45:15 AM

I would buy one but the minimum quantity is 10.  Strange thing is you can buy just one power adapter.

If you want just one, I'd wait around here(Bitcointalk).  Once they start shipping, alot of the customers will try to get rid of these guys in Marketplace>Goods>Computer Hardware section of this forum.  Probably be some deals to be had.

Or if you're a glutton for punishment and want to wait like the rest of us suckers, you can order just 1 here:

4870  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Begginer BTC Miner Wants Some Help! on: May 08, 2014, 02:34:24 AM
I'm a newbie too and this is pretty much what everyone has told me in my previous inquiries (the ship has sailed).

What do you guys think of that cloud mining service called pbmining where you get 5 year contracts? What if the price skyrockets in the next few years... couldn't that pay off big time? Or would the increase in difficulty make the mining contract basically worthless?

Look over this thread and decide for yourself if PBMining is legit or a Ponzi scheme:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=484355.0

IMO, they don't have any provable mining equipment so I'm of the opinion they are a scam.  You make some money initially in a few months with them, but what happens in Year 2 through 5?  Of course it's up to everyone to do their own due diligence.
4871  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Antminer S1 psu on: May 07, 2014, 10:07:42 PM
cool.

ty so much.

Guess this one is set up and hashing away...

will set up the 2nd one when I get back home.
Is there anything I need to look out for when setting the 2nd ant???
have not opened it yet but I'm assuming it has a different ip on the sticker?Huh
No, if it is a new one it will probably have the same fixed IP (192.168.1.99).  The easiest way is to modify the one that you already have running (login to the web gui, Network tab,  Interfaces tab (comes up first) then edit the WAN interface IP (IPv4 address box, change value from 192.168.1.99 to for example 192.168.1.98), click 'save & apply', then be patient as it takes a few minutes (if stuck do a System reset).
If you try to run both S1's on the same WAN IP address you are looking for trouble.  You also need to make sure that there are no IP address clashes with existing devices on your network (if your router has a feature to assign specific IP addresses, then use that to assign the S1's the same addresses as the fixed ones that you selected, this will prevent future clashes).

Cheers

there is a free ip scan link somewhere for windows maybe someone can post it.

This is one.

Congrats. I am mining by doing the math with a pencil and paper.  Cry

As of late you are more profitable than most ASIC miners so...go you!

Six more ants are now in my clutches...'bout to leave the 1 club and join all the other dreamers at 2Ths...ugh.  I wish I was addicted to alcohol or drugs...I can get Obamacare for that shit now!

HAHAHAHAHA!

Do you have your own personal data center or something?  How are you drawing that much power?

Yea I hope where ever you're doing this is dirt cheap.  Hate to see that electric bill.   Cry
4873  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Networking Nightmare & Login Failures - AntMiner S1 on: May 07, 2014, 08:28:04 PM
Could you set the DNS to 8.8.8.8 then Save & Apply to see if that takes?

If so, click on the System tab, then click on Reboot to see if the Ant still remains at 192.168.1.99 after it comes back up.
4874  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Networking Nightmare & Login Failures - AntMiner S1 on: May 07, 2014, 07:12:13 PM
Wait, so your router/modem's gateway is 192.168.0.1, not 192.168.1.1 ?   Huh

Could you also post a screen shot of your WAN configuration from your Antminer, thanks.
4875  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Networking Nightmare & Login Failures - AntMiner S1 on: May 07, 2014, 05:14:14 PM
Just based on the latest ipconfig /all, your laptop ethernet adapter is set to 192.168.1.25.

If you set the Antminer to this address, you will have an IP address conflict.

Make sure the Ant is plugged via ethernet cable to your modem/hub directly not to your laptop.

Factory reset the Antminer by holding the small button for 10 seconds or so.

This should put it in default config, and you should be able to navigate to 192.168.1.99 on a browser on your laptop to enter Antminer config.

After you're in config, enter your pool info IE stratum.btcguild.com:3333,

worker name, worker pass, and Save and Apply and it should start mining momentarily.

maybe he sold low and buy high at least two times to get 80% loss? Or lost coins to Gox and others scams?

but still think that is pure trolling

Confirmed trolling:

Wow look at all that red in his trust rating!   Shocked

Well, he's not not wrong.  Stick a fork in Bitcoin...I BLAME CHINA!  (as usual)   Tongue

It's definitely lost some mojo but I certainly don't think it's dead.  This isn't the first time we've see a bubble and a pop.  It takes time to recover and some new catalysts to get it going again.  Just because you aren't seeing 300% returns in a month doesn't mean btc the technology is dead.

Sorry, I don't think it's dead, that's why I posted the double negative.    Wink

4880  Economy / Computer hardware / Re: [WTS] 3.5 TH KnC Franken Joops In hand. on: May 07, 2014, 02:56:59 PM
I just want to make sure I am reading this right.. You are selling 3.5Th for over $12K USD when the forum is running rampant with more power efficient 1Th/s systems just over $2K, say $6.5K for 3.5Th/s..

It's so high I want to make sure you didn't make a mistake with your asking price..

No mistake. OBO

I don't see any 1 th miners for 2k that can be in hand in by tomorrow.... Nor do I see them shipping with 3 1200w platinum PSU's...

Not tomorrow but within days.  S2 is $2200 after $400 coupon and the Bit-tech 950 GH/s A1 clone is $2150.

PSU's included already.
