I think it is Samsung that is planning to release "domestic" ASIC chips. If those can be incorporated into vehicles, then a fleet operator could run a mining pool to reduce his costs. For example, a delivery company has a fleet of 1,000 vans, and they are in constant contact with the head office. Installing a couple of "domestic" ASICs would generate a bit of hash power from the surplus electricity generated by the engine. Multiply that by 1,000, and you could have an economic mining pool. Include aa leisure battery, and the miners could be run for 24 hours per day. Run this as a service for other fleet operators, or even individual car owners, and you could create a reasonable sized mining pool. I wonder if I've got a domain name to exploit this. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

The rules. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Read the stickies and the guidelines, and all will become clear. Three of the golden rules are - Don't plagiarise. If you can't create original content, then you need to read more. Don't post worthless rubbish Don't start threads on topics that already infest the boards. There are loads more, but in reality they are just common sense rules. There is nothing Draconian in them.

@Theymos You are welcome to copy and use any of the content in any of my projects if you think they will help Bitcoin Talk. I've got a partial list on this page - http://talkmerit.com/projects/The Onkly project ( core node and mining experiments) is inchoate, and I haven't completed the introductory page yet. I'm quite excited by this one, as it will help me to decide if I should create a new coin.

Re-posted from the Beginners forum. Please don't merit this post, but merit the post by the author of the post. The first thing that someone from a Western Europe or from USA must understand is that here in Brazil we live a socialist economy
Brazil is not socialist and has never been. The Estate controls everything
No it doesn't. The only thing the state takes care of is the privilege of the elites. For example, we still have slavery and the new government has just closed all investigations about this. If we follow this criteria we will discover that the Roman Empire was also socialist. Pretty funny, huh? Juscelino thought that the best for Brazil was to build roads connecting the whole country, ignoring all other means of transportation. He got very high loans, which we are probably still paying for them.
just forgot to mention that the main reason was the automotive industry lobby - volkswagen, chevrolet and ford. In the 2002 the centrists (social democrats) lost the election and Lula (former union leader, socialist-oriented and Chaves' friend) became the president. He was president until 2010 and elected his successor from the same party twice, at 2010 and 2014.
Lula is a social democrat, the other candidate a neoliberal, his party was in the power and the country was in a major recession. One of the reasons for the loss was also his willingness to sell Petrobras to Chevron. They keep trying, but they can't win elections. Good read: https://wikileaks.org/plusd/cables/09RIODEJANEIRO369_a.htmlThey ran a very popular program called "bolsa familia" which pays about 70 USD monthly to 25% of Brazil's population. To receive the money, you cannot work. If you work, you lose the free money from bolsa familia. This program was responsible for this party high popularity over those dark years.
yes you can work. If people work and still have a low income, they remain eligible if they have children in school. The program took millions of people out of misery. The sources of misinformation regarding this topic are fake news from social media. But in 2016 the country economy was mostly destroyed and corruption scandals involving the former President lead to an impeachment. Later on Lula was arrested for corruption. (Lula was basically giving billions and billions of dollars from Brazil to Cuba and Venezuela for free, through a company called Odebrecht). The vice president, Temer, who is from another party is now leading the country. He is not a socialist, but still involved in the same corruption schemes as Lula. But as he is not a socialist, the economy was recovering.
The economy was destroyed by debt and speculation. Politicians are puppets of banksters. We don't really give stuff for free, more fake news from social media. Lula was arrested without proofs, Dilma was also impeached without proofs. Most of the media said this strike was not made by unions (everyone hates them in Brazil). Media works intensively to make people hate workers, but trucker strikes are different from others, nothing to do with unions, they are related to oil lobbists. This is very important, as we never had a truly conservative and right wing president after the authoritarian regime ended, in the 80s. All we had were conservative until 2002. Usually the dictatorship supporters call anyone else "leftist" - what is obviously untrue.

But in my opinion we should focus mainly on Bitcoin/crypto related content.
I agree that we should have some special purpose boards, and that Bitcoin should be a priority. However, Bitcoin has spawned a financial revolution, and I think it is important to discuss that as well. Elements of Bitcoin have also been adopted for use in a variety of new financial instruments, and those need to be discussed. Bitcoin Talk is in a fairly unique position, it has a number of early adopters of Bitcoin in its membership, and a global mix of new members with a genuine interest in the emerging financial systems. There is also a number of statisticians who are able to provide us with some interesting financial analyses. Ivory Tower provides a venue to discuss geo-political issues without the problems of the TwitBook spammers. I think it is important to understand Bitcoin's place in the emerging world order.

I hope you can get some merits for this thread, you do a great work for crypto economy.
Thanks for the kind words, it's always nice to know that some of the things you do are appreciated by some of the community. As a Hero member, gaining merit doesn't give me any extra advantages, as the benefits for Legendaries are much the same. But promotion is always good as recognition for one's efforts. What is more important for me is trying to groom some of the boards so that they can be used as information exchanges and for discussion about the new government pseudo-cryptos when they arrive. You guys can help me with this by keeping threads about the crypto-underworld in the alts and bounty sections. There will be a lot of new members joining to find out about the banking changes, and if they see a load of threads about questionable coins and programmes, then they will go elsewhere. These changes are going to be so important for Bitcoin and anybody that needs a money system ( I guess that is everybody ), that we need to understand them as they are announced. Another way you can help is to continue to make Bitcoin Talk an international forum. The globalist banking elite are now super-national, and the only way we can defend ourselves is if members from all countries work together to keep our independence. The international language of banking finance is English, and the massive numbers of derivatives and other banking instrument that are traded through the City of London, makes it the primary financial centre of the world, and it has become almost a country in its own right. In order to understand the dramatic changes that are happening at the moment, you will need to understand English, and Bitcoin Talk can help you with this by helping you to understand the financial jargon. For example, words like 'backwardation' have specific meaning in financial trading.

Thanks for the update, the merit system just gets better and better. Now I've got to hunt for some decent posts. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

Bitcoin is becoming expensive, and is going through a period of major volatility. How much does this affect you in your decisions about Bitcoin?
Would you buy Bitcoin as a long(ish) term investment, or do you see it as a simple payment method? If you plan to start a career in crypto, does the price affect your ability to learn and experiment with the coin?
The Bitcoin economy is very different now, and it was much simpler when I became interested a few years ago,

No I don't want you to send me PMs, because I'll probably just delete them, and I don't want you to post links to the threads or posts that are under-merited in your opinion. What I would like you to do is to make some good well reasoned posts, or start useful information threads to help me to use my extra allocation. I won't award anything for TwitBook posts, or posts about bounty or ICOs. Posts about Bitcoin, the crypto-economy, node operation, and other things that are useful for new members of the Bitcoin community would be ideal. "when moon", "what Lambo" and stuff like that is juvenile and not useful.
If you don't think your English is up to it, then get your post cleaned up at Fit to Talk, and then post the cleaned version. You'll still get the credit and the merits for it.

I'm brazilian, actually his post is full of misinformation.
We would like to know about this. I appreciate that you can't post in the ivory tower, but if you post in this thread, then I'll quote you and ensure that you get the credit. Make it interesting and informative, and I'll give you some merits.

What an extraordinary thread, we even have one guy computing mining power requirements based on 8 graphics cards. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) I believe that as Bitcoin becomes more mainstream, the single function miner will become a thing of the past, and mining processors will be added to a variety products to utilise spare electrical capacity, Room heaters, and hydro-carbon transport are two examples. I started a thread about this in the ivory tower a short while ago ( before I saw this thread ).

Their continuing profits allows them to build an increasing investment in Bitcoin and other crypto- mining operations. There seems to be a few new concepts being created for potential miners. The most interesting are the inclusion of mining hardware in room heaters and air conditioners, and the possibility of using the surplus electricity generated by hydro-carbon powered transport. Whilst the individual hash power will be fairly small, the aggregation of millions of such miners could make a substantial contribution to the decentralisation of mining. Of course this assumes that Bitmain doesn't operate a mining pool for this new source of hash power.
What is your view of the future de-centralisation of Bitcoin mining.

What they are trying to do is to stop uncensored reporting, and to control the growth of populism. It won't work, as there are alternatives being created. I believe that there is even a mesh network to be used as an alternative to the current Internet.

This thread about the Brazilian truckers strike is well written, and earned 20 merits for bitmover. It is probably under merited, and I think it illustrates the type of quality threads that we could have on Bitcoin Talk. It also earned merits for some other posters including 9 for vit05 for a reply. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4424796.0Instead of whingeing about the paucity of merits, and what a hard life you have in this forum, put some work into creating some decent content to improve the forum as well as your reputation.

Please don't refer to the EU as Europe. The EU is a bankrupt super-state that is on the verge of disintegrating, Europe is a geographic description that includes a number of countries such as Russia, and shortly the UK, that are not part of its parasitical practices.
The best way to handle this problem is to block site access to all EU designated countries, and allow them to put pressure on the dying bureaucracy to stop them trying to suppress the details of their death throes.

Maybe we should allow members to block PMs from juniors so that we can avoid being pestered by these spammers

All the Bitcoin that will ever exist were created when the genesis block was laid. Miners just mine blocks
I started a thread about it on this board

Tip 1 - don't ask a question that has bee asked and replied to 600 times before. Tip 2 - don't start threads about merit. Tip 3 - Read the quality posts on the forum before you start threads Tip 4 - Don't think of Bitcoin Talk as a free lunch Tip 5 - Stay off merit awarders ignore lists ( well you've missed that one, )

It's certainly an interesting idea, and it may encourage more reporting of bad posting habits. If we can get rid of annoying posts like this one from a hero who has yet to earn any merit. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4388663.msg39131924#msg39131924It was bad enough that the opening post included that massive image, rather than linking to it. But to quote it in full, and then reply with a comment that is basically the repeat of a previously posted opinion, just clogs up the thread, and adds no value. Obviously the poster is a sig spammer, and I'm sure that the risk of the temporary removal of signature rights would go a long way towards improving the quality of his posting. As a hero, merit will be of no interest to him, unless bounty managers insist on merited posters.

I'm on the wrong computer at the moment, but I can see that there could be a positive use for this analysis, as well as the negative hunt for abusers.
I'll have a look later to see if I can improve my policy for awarding merits.
