4861  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Alpen Coin - “Switzerland’s first ever physical bitcoin” on: August 18, 2020, 02:12:49 AM
I received 2 emails from Alpen Coin in total. The first was to confirm my order and the second was letting me know which coins I was to be receiving ( serial numbers ). It also states that the coins would be received unfunded, and funded upon confirmation of receiving coins.

I will wait to hear from others whom are reaching out to Alpen.

4863  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Crypto Twitter on: August 17, 2020, 08:56:16 PM
Crypto Twitter is such a cesspool of hot garbage.  I am honestly amazed each and every time I get on there and see all the cryptocurrency "buzz".  It is a great place to assess the "buzz" of each project ( or coin ), but it's also completely filled with misinformation and poor information.  It's sad some people end up there an never learn about cryptocurrency from any other sources.  Amazes me really.
4864  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: SEC looking for more tools to track crypto on: August 17, 2020, 08:49:08 PM
This is definitely not surprising.  The governments of the world are always going to try and control things that have nothing to do with them ( or monitor them ).  This is nothing, just wait until steve mnuchin secretary of treasury comes out with his crypto "guidelines".

I see much of this all over the United States. Personally living in Chicago Illinois where it had been mandated that you must wear a mask inside stores. Almost 100% of people do. People are really good about it in parking lots and just while going for walks for the most part. But, when I’ve traveled elsewhere, it was like it didn’t even exist.
4867  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin Blackmail E-mails on: August 17, 2020, 02:13:36 PM
I have received this same email before. They got your info via being pwned. Don’t reply and don’t worry about it if you receive this email. It’s a good reminder to make your passwords more difficult overall and to make sure your phone number is NOT listed in conjunction with your email as a 2FA recovery mechanism , that’s a good way to get sim swapped.
4868  Economy / Collectibles / Re: My Casascius Collection on: August 17, 2020, 01:25:38 PM
Incredible to see the 1000 BTC. Wonder what previous sales have fetched for a peeled 1000, if any?

I’ve never seen a peeled 1000 BTC coin auction or sale, good question if there’s ever been one.  There’s both funded and unfunded DIY Casascius 1000 coins, and I know there’s been a few sales for the DIY version here..not sure what they fetched though.

4870  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How to make old people understand Bitcoin? on: August 16, 2020, 09:24:28 PM
I’ve tried explaining it to my mother before. I just focused on explaining the computer and digital aspect of it. Cryptography is way too hard to explain to a lot of older folk so didn’t get much in to that. I think she understood a good bit.
4871  Economy / Collectibles / Re: WTS - 2011 Niue Star Wars Darth Vader 4 Coin Set on: August 16, 2020, 07:30:16 PM
Wow.  These are so cool.   I’m debating whether to get these for my son.   I feel like he may be too young and will want to play with them and ruin them though.   I’d have to hide them until he’s older.

Thanks. Yah It’s a very cool set of coins..  I’d probably not recommend a child get their hands on it until they know how not to destroy some things ( or everything for many kids ). I collected coins as a young kid and would have loved these.

I think these air-tites might work for it "T30.6 Air-Tite Direct Fit Capsule  US Half Dollars"  per the air-tite website they are 30.6mm and the coins are 30mm

Thanks. I'm so sick of ordering airtites for some of these coins and not having them fit though... I can't even find one for a certain USA coin I'm trying to restore a boxed set of lol... JP's corner is usually my airtite people, but even they can't find the right one for me (yet).   I'll let MJ or someone try one first and confirm. (Also, I hate coins that rattle in the airtites so I'm kinda OCD lol. Cheesy

Sunnybwoy, those are perfect pics, that's pretty much exactly as mine looked.

Maybe a good staple or 2 would help the process?

Yes, this would have been perfect actually. lol.

Oh well, still sweet looking coins! Cheesy

Lol I’m sick of ordering air-tites for everything too. When I receive my coins I will use my caliper and let you know the exact size. I always use https://www.air-tites.com/.  If they don’t have a direct fit, they’ll have foam inserts to help make it snug.

Haha I didn’t use gloves till I got yelled out and criticized for doing it wrong and told to use gloves

Keep using the gloves, don’t follow the poor examples laid out above by those filthy heathens.

I will have to check my PO box on Monday, glad to hear people like them.
4874  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I have Good advice for investors on: August 14, 2020, 12:40:07 PM
You are right, over the long run if you don't know how to read technical analysis charts, then you're likely out of your league and shouldn't be trading.  Not to mention you need to have a strong hold on fundamental analysis too.

4875  Other / Off-topic / Re: Are you a man or ...? Buy something right now ! on: August 14, 2020, 12:30:35 PM
How is buying anything or treating yourself "being a man".  Why can't buying/treating yourself to something nice be "being a woman".  With everything going on right now, it's probably best people aren't spending their bitcoin.
4876  Economy / Collectibles / Re: WTS - 2011 Niue Star Wars Darth Vader 4 Coin Set on: August 14, 2020, 12:28:20 PM
Bump- Item still available.  If you purchase item inside the United States, I will now be offering free shipping ( inside the continental United States that is ). Also have some random star wars coins I will throw in as a freebie.
4877  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Andreas Antonopoulos: HEX offered me 10 BTC to show that it is not a scam on: August 14, 2020, 12:20:41 PM
There are few people better to learn about bitcoin from or you can trust when it comes to their judgment whether a cryptocurrency is worth a damn or not than Andreas Antonopoulos.  No surprise here with Hex.
4878  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Indian banks freezing bank accounts AGAIN ! on: August 13, 2020, 03:09:00 PM
This is certainly very frustrating.  Here in the United States we've had issues with all sorts of institutions having issue with cryptocurrency.  At one point you could use your credit card to purchase crypto, then you couldn't now I think you can.  PayPal has had issues etc.  Hopefully things start to change.
4879  Economy / Collectibles / Re: Alpen Coin - “Switzerland’s first ever physical bitcoin” on: August 13, 2020, 12:43:04 PM
Not this again Chicago, cotton gloves leave fuzzies behind.  Non powdered nitrile is best if you want gloves but naked and just handling the rim is 100% acceptable.  Most professional coin dealers go naked as they feel the risk of dropping the coin with gloves outweighs having gloves.

Edit to add:  I am not getting a test sample this round as they sold out prior to shipping it and ran out.  They are sending one of the next, matte, versions.

Lol. The cotton gloves are better than finger fucking the coin even if you’re just holding it around rim. Not saying it’s wrong to do the “ rim handling” , I just can’t do the free handling personally. Anywho

Please read everything above.  Confirm your entry, and list what days for a draft DO NOT work for you.

Last year we drafted Wed. Aug 28th. Let's try and shoot for the same this year except it's Wednesday Aug 26th??...
