4881  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: What is the highest lost you have made as gambler? on: October 19, 2018, 09:26:03 PM
One thing I've noticed about gamblers is that they frequently underestimate the significance of their losses, whilst overestimating the significance of their wins. If you are going to gamble, at least be real with yourself and acknowledge the truth of the situation. If you're down overall, then you should know about it, same if you're in the positive. I see a lot of false belief in this thread.

Personally, I won about $2,000 in a local soccer match, that was several years ago.

Don't you think it's the same false belief that people have in their cryptocurrency gains? They go in, have a gain of 200%, and then a bear market starts and they have a loss of 300%, but they're still holding on to their coins at a loss believing that times will change and they will eventually get even. A year goes by, market changes, they get even and sell at once with a very small gain being happy that they got something out of it and again regret it later when the market forms a new high.
Psyche is a bitch.
4882  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Bitcoin in E-Sports.. on: October 19, 2018, 09:21:29 PM
There used to be a project called Game that aimed to achieve just that, but I don't think it's doing very well. It lost over 90% of its last year's value, so it looks pretty much dead. I think they will be accepting it because cryptocurrency is much better for tipping than traditional fiat. You don't want to go through paypal to give someone 1 USD.
I think that some pro gaming teams are already accepting cryptocurrency tips.
4883  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin going towards the dark on: October 19, 2018, 06:53:24 PM
Bitcoin prices are constantly decreasing. Its price has increased slightly a few days ago, but now it has decreased again. So, the bitcoin will be completely destroyed? If the predictions of different researchers will be wrong then..
What is the reason for lowering the price of Bitcoin?
I think it has not gotten to the bottom yet and we should hope that bitcoin will recover when it get to the bottom.  I see many investors that buy bitcoin over $10,000 still holding and I am keeping faith that in 2019 we would see another direction of the market.

We were at the bottom of 6000 USD so many times this year. I've checked the charts and we've never defended a bottom so many times in history. At least I couldn't find another similar event. Maybe this really is the bottom? Bitcoin is so easy to manipulate that I wouldn't be scared if we went to 5000 USD. I think that almost all traders that still have fiat to spend are looking to buy at that level.
4884  Economy / Speculation / Re: Will bitcoin get to $10,000 this year again? on: October 19, 2018, 06:40:22 PM
I think no. Too little time.
I bet people in 2017 were saying the same thing. The price was at 5000 in Autumn and when asked if we could go to 20000 the most prevailing answer just had to be no, there's not enough time for that. Maybe 10000 this year if we're lucky. And we needed only 2 months to quadruple the price.
With Bitcoin you can never know. It likes to put people's predictions and patience to a test.
4885  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Are we still "Early Adopters"? on: October 19, 2018, 05:55:49 PM
We are not, we should accept the fact that we are late for almost a decade now.
But still as the market goes down and the price is low now, we got the great deal.
we are now back in time where we can accommodate some coins lower than before.

How can you say that early adopters were those who came a decade ago? Even if you joined you were about to make more than 1000% on your investment. These numbers are restricted only for early adopters. If Bitcoin ever goes past 20000 dollars people will be gaining more than 300%. Try making a similar number on stocks. If you do, you're usually an early adopter.
4886  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Can Bitcoin and FIAT co-exist? What will be the advantages then? on: October 19, 2018, 05:36:10 PM
Coexistence is the most probable outcome. Some people think that cryptocurrencies will take over and kill fiat but you can't kill something that is forced upon people by their governments. You can weaken it but removing it completely is almost impossible and I don't think that governments will adopt cryptocurrencies and stop printing fiat.
4887  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Will cryptocurrency be a key financial sector in the future? on: October 18, 2018, 07:04:05 PM
It will be huge and even if Bitcoin doesn't manage to achieve it it's successor will. I strongly believe in cryptocurrencies and think that they will have a huge impact on finances worldwide. They are just that good and are offering something that has never existed before: independent, decentralized money that at the same time is impossible to counterfeit.
4888  Economy / Economics / Re: Curious. At what BTC price would you capitulate? on: October 18, 2018, 06:56:14 PM
I like the last option. Most of my coins were not bought but earned and I'm not putting any price tag on them.
There is a value that would satisfy me but it's a real world value not a fiat money value. One day I may be able to buy a house with 1 Bitcoin and that will be a great feeling. I'm not exchanging because I don't need more fiat money now. I need more security and more anonymity.
4889  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Gambling with normal games on: October 18, 2018, 06:39:50 PM
I used to play drunk games with friends. We would usually start by drinking and talking or watching a movie and then somebody always came up with an idea. Let's play truth or dare or poker when people barely were able to recognize the cards or walk straight and usually we were betting money because people do stupid things when they're drunk.
Drunk gambling is much better than normal gambling, you should try it. Grin
4890  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin Has Hit the Bottom: Why it is Unlikely to Fall Below $6,000 on: October 18, 2018, 06:20:23 PM
Why are you posting these articles here when there's a press section made specifically for them?

I think that price can fall below 6000 at any point because it relies on on the fundamental state of Bitcoin. If something bad happens and people get scared we'll face a dump never seen before. You could see what happened when there were rumors about tether. What if these rumors became facts? There would be a bump on Bitfinex and dump everywhere else.
4891  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Improvements in Bounty Campaigns on: October 18, 2018, 06:16:49 PM
The question is : What would you change or might add to make it more reliable or interesting?
The comments above made a lot of logical solutions, but the only way to do that is to raise awareness.
If people don’t participate in these campaigns until they have escrowed their money, "which means BTC or guaranteed altcoins," the number of such campaigns will decrease significantly and thus scam one.
The development of rules may be useful in limiting those campaigns, but there will be a lot of ways to get around it, which will serve for more spam.

It won't change. People will keep participating as they are sending money to scam operators, even when those operators get busted or straight off say that they're running a ponzi scheme. The only way to change campaigns is from the source which is the person paying for the campaign and the person managing it.
They won't change on their own because they know that people with red trust or no merit will work for lower tips.
4892  Economy / Economics / Re: What do you think about crypto currency issued by the government? on: October 14, 2018, 10:22:47 PM
I think that government issued cryptocurrencies are substitutes. Those are fake cryptocurrencies meant to confuse people and make them choose currencies that are endorsed by  the governments and completely under their control. Some people will not realize that and think they're putting their money into an alternative and independent form of money but it will all be a lie.
4893  Economy / Economics / Re: Stocks Just Suffered Their Worst Loss in Months on: October 14, 2018, 09:11:06 PM
If I change it to "from 5%"  will it make you happy?  Wink

If we all agree that it was 5% what is there to talk about? A 5% drop in stocks isn't something to dwell upon and it's not a huge loss or a crash. It's a correction!
Bitcoin lost 5% a few days ago and nothing is happening. Last month we lost twice that.

I agree with those of you who are saying that stocks are overvalued. It's correct, but so are most cryptocurrencies. Most of them aren't and will never be used in real situations. Their value comes from the sentiment of investors who hope that other investors will see even more value and buy it from them.
4894  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-10-09] IMF suggest crypto could create new vulnerabilities in finance on: October 14, 2018, 08:59:54 PM
The vulnerabilities already exist. Cryptocurrencies by acting as a wake up call for the masses only make these vulnerabilities more visible.
At least now if shit hits the fan people will have an alternative currency to escape to. IMF is only watching from their own perspective instead of worrying about the people who enable them and allow the banks to prosper.
4895  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2018-10-14] - Crypto News of the Week – Week 40 & 41 on: October 14, 2018, 08:56:56 PM
I think that the market sentiment is largely negative. Since the beginning of the year we have been seeing lower highs and lower lows. Due to this common opinion that 6000 is the bottom we've temporarily stopped seeing lower lows, but we're still seeing lower highs and if i'm correct we're in the longest period without a bull run attempt this year. Last one ended on 2 Sept.
4896  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: China: Man Sentenced to Prison for Stealing Railway Electricity to Mine Bitcoin on: October 14, 2018, 08:50:52 PM
He knew what he was doing. China is against mining, even if you want to pay for electricity and stealing is a crime, even if you're not mining. He combined both of them and got caught. I think that it's a high sentence because he didn't hurt anyone. He stole from the government which is the biggest thief in every country.
Mining is easy if you steal power. The access to mining equipment is easy in China and even old miners are profitable if you have free power.
4897  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why should governments accept Crypto currencies? on: October 14, 2018, 08:46:13 PM
Because they will avoid corruption since all transactions are traceable  Grin

A very good point.

I think they should also do it because people want them to. We have democracy, don't we? If enough people vote for Bitcoins to be accepted they will have no other choice than to do it. Ok there's another choice, turn into totalitarianism and fight those who want changes.
4898  Economy / Speculation / Re: A Big Move Is Coming Very Soon...Up or Down? on: October 14, 2018, 05:40:52 PM
I think that there's still a chance of us going down to 5000 but the possibility of breaking up is bigger. The ETF decision will play a big part in it. If we get an approval we will go up if not we could be trading sideways until 2019. Bitcoin depends on the news too much and people are in panic mode this year.
4899  Economy / Speculation / Re: Do you think their will be another Bull Run this year? I D0 NOT THINK SO! on: October 14, 2018, 05:38:34 PM
There's two major theories here. One is the bearish descending triangle. If it breaks down, most traders are aiming at the $2,000s or $3,000s.

The second is a rising bottom. Here's one example of a Wyckoff accumulation schematic:
https://i.imgur.com/w7zhUFK.png
We need to see a sign of strength (SOS) to confirm. And if we do go that way, I don't think it'll be a bull run like last year. No ATH expected. I think it'll be a mid-term rally that tops near the $10K or $12K resistances, or maybe a bit higher.

I can't agree with you here. If we go below our current bottom at 5800 the next support is right below 5000 and this is the area where most people will place their orders. The most bearish traders like Tone Vays were eying 4800 since we broke 10000 or even earlier than that. Nobody is looking at 2000 because it's below the long term trendline that we were following since 2015 and this trendline is at 4000 and will get close to 4800 in December.
4900  Economy / Speculation / Re: BITCOIN'S VALUE WILL INCREASE ONCE ALL 21M BTC ARE MINED...SO HOLD YOUR BTC! on: October 14, 2018, 05:31:54 PM
I hope that you do realize that with halvings it will take many more years before the last coin is mined out. It's estimated that in the year 2100 we will still be mining! While I'd like to be able to see this most of us, including me, will never be able to. Our generation of people born in the 80s and 90s will die before the year 2080. The revolution will have to happen much earlier and it will.
