Can anyone explain to me why my client keeps getting stuck on short chains? Why doesn't my client automatically query the peers that i am connected to, ask them if their chain is longer, and ask them to send over a copy if it is?
0.4.4 really makes a big difference. Don't use the old blockchain, sync from scratch. doing both of those things, still getting stuck on short chains. Did you also start with a "fresh" blockchain.nrs file? i just extracted the 0.4.4 archive and ran it as is. that is strange indeed. Maybe DfB can help you.

I had this probblem also in 0.4.2 , my node would just be stuck for a long time, until i restarted it. But with 0.4.4 it runs smoothly. Maybe upgrade?

Yeah, CfB delivers! We get new features and settings as promised! Actually, I think it's coz we added more nodes. Looks like we dodged a bullet there. This was like a stresstest and we beat it =) Gj us all!

Sometimes i start downloading the blockchain from scratch, and it only takes 3 minutes, but in abou 20% of the cases, it ends up with blocks with about 3000000% Target. The rest of the cases, i am uptodate then with normal blockchain.
Anyone know how i could prevent the 20% of cases?

I have question regarding accessing your balance using a node that someone else runs. someone posted: https://nextcoin.info:7875/I can access this node from any computer in the world and check my balance and transfer money, but is it really safe to do so? regards could you give an opinion regarding this, CfB? People shouldn't trust strangers on the Internet. I don't say that the owner of https://nextcoin.info:7875/ is a bad guy (I believe he is good coz is helping to newbies who have problems with running the client locally). But rules should be followed literally. thank you, just seemed convenient. I will try to access my own node on the go from now on a mobile node would be nice nonetheless

Sorry, but the network is under attack, this is not a bug. Look at uploaded volume after 10 mins of working:
So why does this not happen in Bitcoin (or Litecoin for that matter)? it did happen for bitcoin... Litecoin had an army of miners the second the network started.

CfB - I deleted the blockchain - and it updated until 23081 where it is now stuck again.
So the stalling at this block has clearly nothing to do with DDoS (otherwise how did I get there so quickly?).
I would really appreciate it if you guys admitted there is a *bug* with the software that has nothing to do with any sort of attack and just fix the bug.
how come, the majority of users can now run the chain without problems?
