It is great to hear that there are ways to protect your account from stealing and attempt to claim it back. A few days ago a friend got hacked and almost lost his account, he was able to log back and restore it somehow.
How did he get hacked? Has the password not changed by the hacker? Curious to know so as to protect myself in the future. If you provide a signed message with an old staked account, in a very specific format, theymos or badbear will reset your password and send you your new password over email. This is why a signed message is important in account sales. It proves you legally bought the account, so the old owner cannot just claim it back with the admins. So, in short, you can protect your account in the following ways: - use a password manager (like keypass), always generate a strong, unique password for all your online activity's (including bitcointalk) - stake a bitcoin address ASAP, just post it in the address staking thread from tomatocage, and ask if somebody can quote you. Make sure you can sign a message with this staked address

IF i was a speculator, i would buy as much bitcoins as i could right now, keep them untill after the halving and sell them when the price has risen...
I'm pretty sure prices will rise dramatically, since the supply will be smaller while the demand will (hopefully) rise... Pushing the price upwards. The main question is: will the price be high enough for mining farms to still be profitable. This is a question that is much harder to answer.

If the seller sent one for free that does make it a little better. But it does not matter what it does zombie out, just part of it's nature.
You really need automation which means find someone who has written it for a RPI. Or easiest get a crazyguy custom FW R1 to fix U3 zombies.
The only problem with crazyguy's R1 is the fact that it's only economic to buy one if you're in the US. He should have a reseller in the EU to, so we can buy one without having the USPS and our local customs double the cost of buying an R1...

I would suggest using virwox... They charge large fees, and take up to 48 hours to review your first withdrawal, but they'll allow you to charge your account with PP (verified accts only), buy LLD with USD (or €), exchange LLD to BTC and withdraw the BTC.
As i said, they charge a hefty fee with each step of the process, but you'll end up with some BTC in your wallet.

you can always try multibit HD....
But can you elaborate why you don't like electrum? I've been using it for a long time now, without any hiccups.

I haven't read the whole text, but i do like the simplicity of your website...
It looks very informative, the only question i have is: why? Are you trying to create something for the community, or are you trying to make a living out of this site in some way?

Are you sure that list is not somehow corrupted? For me it stops at line 503 and after that it's only endless lines of 'X's
Does somebody have an intact recent list off all addresses that they could share? Thanks!
oh, i actually couldn't check it because of the size ![Shocked](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/shocked.gif) , i might forgot something. ill look into it and upload again. sorry about that Edit: here is the full list with no problems https://mega.co.nz/#!0UpWCTxb!oIMkD8t4PK4iATuuj2TmMNhT4TXJn-pDcED1iyXBvAMafter 3000000 addresses its only XXXXXXXXXXXX ![Huh](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/huh.gif) Please can someone share the updated list. Will be very much thankful. Or atleast tell me a way to get all addresses without downloading the whole blockchain Plz help... I am new to this.. I can try to do this for you... But since it'll take a lot of time and recources, i'm not doing this for free ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

I've seen a couple guys using their ASIC's as a space heater, but i guess that's about it ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) God Lord that's one expensive heater, I can tell you this! No, at the moment the only usage is for Bitcoin mining or some other alts mining that share Bitcoin's algorithm, which in the end almost always turns out to be a waste of money since these alts are 99% all of the scams! Mining business is pretty ruthless when you think about it more closely! No place for mistakes! True... But if you use them for mining, and as a space heater at the same time, you can heat your space for free (since reasonable HW will produce enough BTC to cover the electricity costs). ![Grin](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/grin.gif) I'm actually on the lookout for a dirtcheap S1-S5 for exactly this reason (it's winter, and we heat part of our house electrically anyways, so why wouldn't i use a dirtcheap secondhand antminer and make almost enough coins to cover my electric bill)

also they are not really needed, you can buy easily on any exchange, localbitcoin, i can't really see the point of atm for bitcoin
also everything that increase the fee for bitcoin is a no no in my view, instead they should offer a discount, if you purchase from an atm...
But ATM's are owned by a person or a company that payed a lot of cash for the ATM, connectivity, power, rent for the space where the ATM is installed. If they would offer bitcoins with a discount, i don't think it would be a viable business model. I think this is one of the main reasons why you don't see a lot of ATM's: it takes a lot of effort, time and money to install and maintain an ATM...

You mean something like miningrigrentals?
You point your miner towards them and select a pool and a rental price. Somebody else can rent your hashpower for the predetermined price, if nobody rents your power you'll mine for the predetermined pool...

Update: So the file copy method works better. Both servers are 100 Mbps down/up, but with a single SSH session I was only able to get 7 Mbps throughput. I ended up having to write a script to split the files up into 10 groups and run parallel copy operations over 10 different SSH sessions to get close to the max. 100 Mbps throughput and was able to initialize a new node in under 3 hours compared with 2+ days the normal way.
As a test, I also set up a temp web server on the source node and tested copying the files over using the HTTP protocol. It turned out to be a lot faster than SSH for the single threaded copy, but I still needed to run 2 parallel copy operations to max. out my 100 Mbps bandwidth. This is understandable as SSH/SCP is a chattier protocol than HTTP and generates more "dead air" over a WAN.
So yes, copying the files over is a lot quicker than just starting up a blank node from scratch. but you still need to some work on your part to get the most of your available bandwidth.
I've always found SSH slow, but you can speed it up by using a different algo: https://www.neuhalfen.name/2009/02/04/scp_performance_gain_by_using_right_algorithm/you can try it out next time ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Just include in it if that is your plan "Here is something to learn but you are going to lose money". To blanket suggest a miner just does not really work very well.
Hopefully OP did not buy S3 or anything before doing ROI. But learning and possible gain is much more fun then learning and loosing
I don't want to start a discussion about this... I acnowledge that an S3 will never ROI, i just tried to answer the OP's question... A cheap piece of hardware that'll allow you to learn about mining. Offcourse it'll be more fun if he actually makes a profit, but in that case he needs to invest quite a bit of money and buy an S7 right away ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif) I learned about mining with an antminer U2 i bought for 0.11 BTC, i knew i would never ROI, but just like the OP, i wanted to learn ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

Honestly with 10 cent's I'm not sure a S3 would be my first choice. Do some ROI math but S3's are just not efficient these day's. They are great machines and built like tanks... but at 10 cents unless a bargain I dont see ROI happening. I suggest looking into new miners and running ROI math. Make sure to use one like https://bitcoinwisdom.com/bitcoin/calculator so you have difficulty changes. But try a few different miners in there. Also never invest more then you can lose mining is not guaranteed ROI. try with s5 directly, it's more suited for your case, and you can always resell it, then you can go for the beastly S7 s1 and s3 i would avoid at this point, they earn you peanuts, not worth it at all
I agree with both notlist3d and Amph, but the OP stated that he's just trying to learn, not to make money... That's why i pointed him to an S3/S5... Offcourse, and S5 will beat the S3 from a ROI point, but as a learning device i would pick the cheapest one ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Hey Guys,
I have a startup company about bitcoin in UK so I'm trying to learn everything about bitcoin. I'm trying to learn bitcoin mining. Where should I start and which mining machine should I buy?
P.S.: Just trying to learn this thing. My aim is not making money.
If you are just learning, either buy a new geccoscience compaq or a cheap second hand S3/S5 on this forum. Use them to experiment and learn... Afterwards, you need to make a full study in order to see if mining is profitable for you, which costs you have to make in order to start mining, what are the running costs and how much profit you'll make. But to start out, a compac stick or an S3 or S5 will do to teach you the basics ![Wink](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/wink.gif)

Vineyard (user on bitcointalk) used to have a couple of these games, like for example coinhopper. You can search his threads, he used to have at least 3 similar games ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)
