Pretty good numbers so far.

price is okay 29,964

CPI for march came out

https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/economy/2023/04/12/cpi-inflation-data-today-live-updates/11607115002/

"Consumer prices overall increased 5% from a year earlier, down from 6% in February and a 40-year high of 9.1% last June, according to the Labor Department’s consumer price index.

That’s the smallest annual gain since May 2021.

On a monthly basis, prices edged up just 0.1% following a 0.4% increase in February, resuming a previous downshift."

but core was worse

"But core prices, which exclude volatile food and energy items and capture longer-lasting trends, increased 0.4% from February following a 0.5% bump in the previous month. That pushed up the annual increase from 5.5% to 5.6%.

The report underscores that goods inflation is letting up somewhat as pandemic-induced supply chain snarls resolve and commodity prices fall but the pullback is painfully slow and playing out in fits and starts. Barclays expects annual inflation to drop to 3.3% by the end of the year, above its prior 2.9% forecast."

What will fed do with rate in may

https://www.bloomberg.com/news/articles/2023-04-12/us-core-cpi-rises-firmly-keeping-may-fed-rate-hike-in-play

"US Core Inflation Slows Only a Bit, Keeping Fed on Track to Hike
Excluding food and energy, consumer prices rose 0.4% in March
Traders still largely expect Fed to raise rates again in May"

looks like +0.25 for early may

I think that helps BTC

4933  Bitcoin / Pools / Re: [∞ YH] solo.ckpool.org 2% fee solo mining 273 blocks solved! on: April 12, 2023, 02:27:18 AM
I dont want to clutter the thread with nicehash discussion if it bothers ck or anyone, so i tried to direct message you, but you dont accept from newbies.  Here is what i tried to say:

It is only showing zero because the mining power is going to the highest bids.  PhillipMa bid a very low amount, so he is not being overcharged (smart/the correct way to rent on nicehash).  Therefore, he has to wait patiently until the high bids have all their btc used up, then miners will migrate to lower bids and eventually he will get his hashes.  It is ok to temporarily have no hashpower.  IT means you are not overpaying.  Each individual hash (or "share") is a shot at solving a block.  Whether you have them all sequentially right away, or whether you have a little, then you have zero, then you have a little, etc.  Is the same. As long as you get the total number of shares by the end, you got what you paid for. But CK is certainly right that many many people rent and never solve a block, compared to the few people who rent and do solve a block.  So don't think it will be easy to just rent and get rich.  Smiley

exactly

i am renting 100 ph at proper price.

think of it as playing 1 dollar on a three digit number and getting paid 1025 to 1

low cost
high risk
high reward
under paid = investment

or playing 1 dollar on a three digit number and getting paid 975 to 1

low cost
high risk
high reward
overpaid = gambling

I know 6250 plays of 0.001 should hit a block and I would profit because I paid low.

Vs 6250 plays of 0.0001 should hit a block and I lose because I paid high.

Obviously it is more complex but it is something to pass time for me.

There seem to be quite a few newcomers to solo mining thanks to the recent spate of blocks found here, who don't quite understand some things so I'll try to make it clear:

Solo mining is gambling.

Unless you personally own at least 700PH with some kind of depreciation/deprecation plan, the vast majority of miners will lose money mining solo. (This estimate of required hashrate will go up as bitcoin difficulty rises.)

Renting hash long term and mining solo will never make a profit, as the rented hashes will end up costing you more than any rewards you make.

there are methods to almost make it a high risk high reward but at not unfavorable odds.

If you don't understand game theory  my talk may go over your head. but here goes. Look at the image.

4935  Economy / Economics / Re: using credit card on: April 12, 2023, 12:23:06 AM
i am studying in college, i was really excited to get my first credit card Wink. i thought it will give me a sense of independence and allow me to buy things i could not afford with cash.

though, i quickly learned that credit cards can be a double edged sword. while they can be helpful in building credit, they can also lead to debt and financial trouble if not used responsibly.

at first, i used my credit card reasonably, only for like emergencies or small purchases that i knew i could pay off in full each month. but as time went on, i began using it more and more for larger purchases and impulse buys, without really thinking about how i would pay the balance off.

before i knew it, my credit card balance had  blown up to several thousand dollars, and i was struggling to make the minimum payments each month. the interest charges alone were eating up a significant portion of my income, and i felt like i was going under debt.

it was not until i sat down and made a budget that i realized just how much my credit card debt was affecting my overall financial health. i had to make some tough choices and cut back on some of my expenses , but finally,
i was able to pay off the balance and get back on track.

the lesson that i learned here is that credit cards can be a valuable tool for building credit points/scores and making purchases, but they should be used responsibly and with caution. it is important to keep track of your spending(like keeping a journal), pay off the balance in full, each month if possible, and avoid carrying a balance that will increase interest over time. by being mindful of your credit card usage, you can avoid debt and maintain your financial health.

i am weak at economy, is it wise decision to use credit card?

Let me ask you:

I have a compulsive gambling is it okay to bet 1 dollar on a weekly lottery ticket?

The answer for me would be no.

The answer for you is very likely no for at least six months until you pay the card off.

Maybe it is okay after six months and you won't tap it out again.

I’m surprised that the price went through $30K and has been holding above it without a good sized pullback. That leads me to believe this rally still has legs. Somebody out there is snapping up all the BTC and just keeps buying. I do feel like we may see a pause at this level for a while to allow for some accumulation before the next leg up.

well cpi is out this week.

next fed jump is may 1-3

if we do a 0.25 again I am thinking it helps btc a lot.

Maybe 40k by may
4937  Bitcoin / Mining / Re: What would be happened in 2024/28 BTC halving? When mining would be expensive? on: April 11, 2023, 06:00:46 PM
2023 = 6.25000 = 187,500 a block at 30k a coin seems doable and is doable and is happening right now
 2024 = 3.12500 = 187,500 a block at 60k a coin past history has show that we can do 60k
2028 = 1.56250 = 187,500 a block at 120k a coin no history but at 1 sat per byte =  a tx could cost no lower than 27 cents which could work.
2032 = 0.78125 = 187,500 a block at 240k a coin no history but at 1 sat per byte = a tx could cost no lower than 54 cents which could work.

smallest transactions are 227 bytes or 227 sats

My example above shows no great problem for 2024
even 2028 looks okay

but by 2056 the issues get bigger.

I was court ordered to AA years ago and went up there and called them all a bunch of weak willed pussies and was told I was a disrupting influence and they signed off on my court mandated meetings.

*I was pissed right off the bat when I read the steps and one of them was to accept jesus as my lord and savior and told them there is no way I was going to do that.

we use higher power in GA and the higher power can be anything but yourself.  Ie just admit you are not all powerful.

so any boogy man will do?

sorry still not going to lie and say some invisible "higher power" exists whether I'm court ordered to do it or not.

I don't live in Iran.

Freedom from forced religion is why this country was founded even though they just wanted to worship their own way.

you are bringing your own prejudice to what I am saying. I am saying I don’t believe I am all powerful.

Thus there is something more powerful than me.

For me personally I don’t believe in any specific being.

I tend to think that the universe is more powerful than I am.

The other day a F2 Tornado missed my house by 2500 feet.

Do I think I told the tornado 🌪️ pissoff and begone. Hell no.

But did I prey to Jesus to save me and my wife from it? No.

I hoped the the universe or good old charlie (death) was not for me and my wife that day.

So my acknowledgment was mamma nature or the universe could have did us in. But did not.

But thats my level of higher power belief.
4940  Economy / Economics / Re: Invest your money wisely - another lesson, Techie tries to suicide. on: April 11, 2023, 02:24:47 PM
This news is from the IT Hub of India, that is Kolkata. The Techie who is just 23 years old had invested a big amount of money in the Crypto space. The investment when asked him was around INR 30 lakh ~ $ 36,600 in US dollars. That is a definitely huge amount considering his age and country of residence. Even in America, 36K USD is pretty handsome money and you can do many things with it.

So the gravity of this can be sensed easily.

He was saved by the Cops after a local Cab driver alerted the police and the response team was at the incident quickly.

He was trying to jump from the largest bridge on the river named "Hooghly" to end his life.

The investment was not his alone but he collected the money from various sources. He took loans and also was using the pension from his mother. Definitely, he had no plans and no idea what he was doing.

Just save up your bitcoins in cold storage, only buy what you can afford to lose and most importantly don't fall for the traps of crypto space.
Bitcoin is the only savior in crypto and if you own the keys, you win the market.

Read the news here:Techie loses Rs 30 lakh in crypto market, tries to jump off  ..

He broke first rule of investment.

Only invest what you can afford to lose.

I really want to say something nasty and flippant, but I won't.

Instead I will hope that he learns from this and does not over spend on investments.
