4941  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Risk management: How to set a Stop Loss on: November 01, 2022, 07:23:00 AM
What I know is that people that uses stop lose are those with high risk trading, those that trade with higher amount of money and professional enough prefer not to use stop lose because they prefer to begin with a very low leverage. These are the kind of traders that trade with even less than 1x leverage, or not more than 1x. For a trader that trade with high amount of money, starting to trade with 0.25x and not going more than 1x, but increased the money to 1x when he noticed the market would favour him. This would bring the entry price closer to the mark price four times more and a slight correction towards its position might lead to profit or reduced loss. I do not know why people do not talk about this before they should think of using stop loss. Maybe because most traders uses low amount of money to trade and starting trading with over 1x or higher leverage. But the truth is, those that profit more about trading have no option than to increase their trading fund, open position with very low amount first and average from less than 1x to 1x or not more than 2x before thinking about stop loss. Traders have different strategies though.
Any trader is welcome to follow a trading approach that is best for them, but this will not stop the right ethics of trading for productivity and account safety. Regardless of using a low risk in trading, you might still lose the amount that is too much for you to bear in some market conditions even if you do not lose all your money. So, you now think it will be easy to recover such an amount again if you would want to maintain the low risk?

This is where the beauty of using the stop loss comes in, it does not let you lose more than what you could bear or easily recover (good trading management).

What? I don't make any claims about blockchain transactions by the way, I quote them, but don't you think his words make sense?
Yes, I respectfully say they don't make sense because how could anyone say that blockchain technology is so plain and traceable? We all know that the anonymity of blockchain technology is still there despite getting better day by day. And I will maintain that fiat is more traceable than blockchain technology, so illicit financial activities could better be hidden through it.

Yet, do not cause your winnings a setback by trying to get an assumed result through backtesting, they don't work. If you would ever help yourself in trading, forwardtest and do not mind the time it will take you to perfect whatever trading system you are building.

Oh, I absolutely forward test too. But backtesting helps you figure out what to forward test, and what to run live in the meantime. You need both.
I repeat, forwardtest instead of backtesting. You might still be new in the world of trading, backtesting is not working, it will only raise your hope and demoralise you later. This is especially if you are using indicators to trade, those indicators are often perfect in past views and patterns, but they are not so in live trading. You have to heed this advice to help yourself. Countless traders have argued before, and they all regretted backtesting later.

And if I may ask, how long have you been trading?
4944  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: A disheartening true life winning story on: October 31, 2022, 02:13:14 PM
If it’s already with the court, I’m sure they will handle this properly and address the issue. Not paying because of the system problem of the company is not a good excuse, most probably there is something more behind that and they have to provide more documents to the court to prove it. I’m also wondering if this story is true.
Of course, the story is true. How I wish you know me, I will never share an untrue story. Also, the company is complacent and liable to the criminal charges filed against them, and there is no way they would be exonerated because no company would operate at that large scale without having a backup. So they are lying.

The reason is because of the company's poor system.

Can you share the link to that news here so we can know more details?
There is no poor system here as Green lotto is not a small company, they only want to steal his money. Green lotto is the name of the company and the link to the story has been updated on the first page.

How bad it is when you finally get what you want and suddenly you won't get it due to those scammers that are not fair to their players. These kinds of people should be punish and make them pay twice or multiple times the money they planning to steal from this man who might be losing the game all this time and finally won the best time of his life.
But that can be difficult to do, especially if the casino has a relationship with the local regulator, so the regulator will not take the case seriously and will not even allow the person to withdraw the winnings in full. Maybe the regulators will advise the person to take the money the casino has suggested and leave the case, but I don't know. Anything can happen regarding money. Maybe only the people in the regulators can pressure the casino to pay out the winnings in full and for that, these people have to have the integrity to uphold justice.
You have a very good point there, politics is everywhere, so I don't trust regulators and police in some countries. My country is a good example of that, the police and the gambling board that made the company offer the guy some amount knew that he won the bet but tried to cover it up. And if it were to be a good country, the gambling board must have helped the guy get his money and even sanction the gambling company.

Even if the regulator side with the lottery people will lose their trust in that company
You have a very good point here. The damage has been done to the company already, no one would trust them anymore. And the good news is that there are alternatives, so they will lose more customers as the guy even wins the case in court.

Surely this situation just rarely happen, we don't even know if the lottery is telling the truth that there is indeed some technical malfunctions that is why the winner's ticket will be considered as void.
This is not rarely happening in my country, a state governor recently give a stern warning to all gambling companies in his state due to similar cases. But the only difference is that the money in most cases is often small to be published/referenced.

If the casino is licensed, then he'll have every advantage over 'em but If not, that's fucked up man
This is beyond being licenced or not, they are liable since they run the lottery inside a country. It might not be at the jurisdiction of the National Gambling Board if it is not licenced, but the reach of the court is beyond that.
4945  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: October 31, 2022, 06:59:41 AM
As expected Arsenal really dominate against Nottingham Forest, but it seems Jesus's performance was decreased, Arsenal need to think to replace a better player in the Center Forward position.
Last night's match goal party probably made a lot of people win bets, especially I didn't expect that there would be a goal party even though Jesus' performance declined. With this victory, Arsenal returned to the top of the Premier League table with 31 points, shifting back to Manchester City.
After watching Nottingham Forest play against Liverpool, I was anticipating a tough match. Instead, Arsenal outperformed Nottingham Forest. They were simple for Arsenal, contrary to what I had anticipated. Arsenal completely annihilated Nottingham Forest.

Gabriel Jesus played well and provided an assist, so I don't think he should be replaced. He was just unlucky not to score during the game. Some games are like that; if luck is not on your side, you will give it your all. Yesterday, Gabriel Jesus gave it his best for the team.
One thing you should observe in the matches of Nottingham Forest against Liverpool and Arsenal are morale and psychology of the club in playing with the two clubs. Nottingham Forest built on the fact that Liverpool was not in form, and this boosted their morale to play against them. But they were demoralized against Arsenal at the emirate stadium. The 5-0 win by arsenal has set the record straight again. It's Liverpool that needs to do their homework, particularly on the attack.
4946  Economy / Gambling / Re: What is the best thing to do if this happens on: October 31, 2022, 06:50:59 AM
It's a good decision to read the terms and conditions of any gambling company you want to deal with, but be sure you also clearly understand them. However, many don't know their rights, and the few who know it do not have the money to file a court case. It is easy to say 'I will chart them to court,' but do you have the needed resources?

Many often let go, this is especially when the amount won is not even significant enough to hire a lawyer.
4947  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What will be running in your mind if Bitcoin reaches $1000 again on: October 31, 2022, 06:31:00 AM
What would be your reaction? Will you turn your back on Bitcoin or has your investment just begun on it?
I wouldn't say I'll be overjoyed, but I will be overjoyed because the market has lowered the price to the point where many people who missed out on investing in Bitcoin during its early stages can now do so.
Although I know it will be difficult for the Bitcoin price to fall this low because many market makers will not allow it to fall drastically due to their large investment in the market, if it does, I will do everything I can to buy as much as I can because I know it will rise again.
Actually I don't want to speculate about something that I believe is unlikely to happen. But if I really have to speculate, then I'll do what you do. I will carry as much Bitcoin as possible into my wallet instead of turning away from bitcoin. Because it is a golden opportunity that may not be repeated. But again I believe that is unlikely to happen, even if it did, maybe when there is a great recession sweeping across the world.
Truly, this seems unlikely, but it does not stop the fact that it is possible. As we hope it doesn't happen, if it happens, then it might be the right time to plan a renewed investment in BTC. Mind you, we do not need the great recession for BTC to fall significantly, what if the US, UK and Europe decided to turn their backs on the coin, what would happen? This is just an example that we will always hope does not happen.

~snip~
If the price drops drastically, I think I could need a few bitcoins since I still have money to buy them. It was a joyous moment for many people who didn't have much money because they could buy more bitcoins at very low prices. But I think it's unlikely that the price of bitcoin will drop drastically unless a lot of investors lose faith in bitcoin and a lot of whales sell their bitcoins, causing the price to drop very quickly. But even if the whales will dump the bitcoins, I don't think the price will drop that drastically because it takes a lot of bitcoins to force the price down to that level.

Price manipulation can be done by big players.

The problem with this is that it's not a long term strategy. Sure, they sold lots of bitcoin and lowered the price, but then lots of people kept buying and the price eventually will go back up, and the big players eventually will run out of Bitcoin to sell.

The key thing is that there's a finite number of Bitcoins out there, and they cannot lower the price indefinitely because there's more and more people joining in that also want to participate in Bitcoin.

A price of $1000, which I don't even think is possible, can only happen in the short term. Long term the price will go up.

To answer the question, I would continue buying more Bitcoin at that price.
As long the demand is intact or something didnt change then whenever bitcoins price plummets then its safe to presume that there would really be lots of strong support below which would catch up.
That is the point, the demand can never be intact in such a situation. Such a significant drop would only create panic, and many that are making month that they would buy at such a low might only panic more, or buy a little.

If bitcoin should drop to $1000 or below, I think first thing to do is to find out why such a thing happened, because bitcoin, (considering it's current price and all time high price, plus all the high profile investors), have grown past the stage where it can drop to such a ridiculous amount without any form of negative news backing it.

So for me, first, I will have to know what caused the price of bitcoin to drop that low, what ever the reason is; will determine for me whether I should buy more bitcoins or just sit and watch as the whole magic play out.

well it's true there must be a problem if btc reaches 1000$, but I'm sure the price will go up again in a short time because there will be a lot of demand.
and here can be assured that the price of bitcoin is in trouble and manipulation occurs here
You have some good points here, we should first know the cause of the huge fall and determine if the cause is still lingering, not that we will just blindly invest in it. But don't be sure the price would go up in a short time, just let the right speculations guide you.
4948  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Risk management: How to set a Stop Loss on: October 31, 2022, 06:15:22 AM
Stop loss has saved a lot of trading accounts, it is a crucial tool in trading and it is being used by traders that are managerial in nature. I have heard many traders arguing that they trade without a stop loss, but most of them often come back to share their regrets.

It is a matter of time, if a stop loss is not used, the account of the trader will always be lost. To some, it takes days, months or even years. A good trader will always use stop loss for protection's sake, it helps in precalculating the traders' risk, and gives the clue on how to balance the risk with a good reward to make good risk management (risk to reward ratio).

I'm glad to read that you are making consistent profits and it's very nice for trying to advance your trading for better results and safety. Yet, do not cause your winnings a setback by trying to get an assumed result through backtesting, they don't work. I've been in the trading environment for almost 2 decades, so I know what I am saying.

If you would ever help yourself in trading, forwardtest and do not mind the time it will take you to perfect whatever trading system you are building.
4950  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: in debt but want to invest. on: October 31, 2022, 05:54:31 AM
It depends on who you owe, if the payment isn't a haste thing or let say you are given enough time to pay back then you can DCA in your favourite coins and pay back your debt slowly.
no matter how close the lender is to the borrower investing in a risky asset with a loaned fund is the worst risk to take. As it stands no one can accurately tell what direction Bitcoin will take at any moment and what if even applying DCA price keeps plunging and the lender decides to demand for the fund with a matter of urgency. Paying back is best even if it means paying gradually

It doesn't matter how close you may be to the person you collected loan from.  Their are high risk that are involved investing cryptocurrency and their is no guarantee that you can recover the money you took for loan for investing,  cryptocurrency is unpredictable.
The case of the OP is not encouraging because once someone with integrity is in debt, the payment of the debt should be the priority since there must have been an agreement before the loan was given. Now, investing the money at hand in crypto means that the loan is not a priority and this might cause additional issues since crypto investment is a risky one. No guarantee for any immediate earnings with it, which might put the OP under further pressure.
4951  Other / Archival / Re: Most investors think regulation is a good thing on: October 30, 2022, 04:57:26 PM
Crime existed hundreds of years before bitcoin and cryptocurrencies, and without bitcoin, the government would never be able to stop all crime. Regulating bitcoin will never stop criminals, they will find another way to continue their behaviour, don't always associate crime with bitcoin.
This is where you guys are getting it wrong when I read your replies. No one is saying that crimes don't exist before cryptocurrencies, I was just referring to how easier it is for criminals to use the decentralization and anonymity of crypto. No doubt, crypto has huge benefits, but don't let us always turn blind eye to its shortcomings.
Then why is fiat still more popular as a money laundering tool than cryptocurrency? I've read two articles that published in March 2022 about reports from the U.S. Treasury that say fiat is still on top compared to crypto in financial crime. You can read here:
- Fiat Still Accounts for Majority of Financial Crimes, Says U.S. Treasury Report.
- Fiat - Not Crypto - Still The Top Choice For Financial Crimes, US Treasury Says.

Quoting from Dave Weisberger, the CEO of CoinRoutes, which was published in the article Comparing Money Laundering With Cryptocurrencies and Fiat;
Quote
“The goal of money laundering is to create a chain of transactions that can't be traced, so since the bitcoin blockchain is designed to have an indelible public record of all transactions, it makes 'laundering' much more difficult.”
I must say that you make things contradictory with the post you made and the proofs from what people merely opined based on the angle they view it. You have to wake up to the reality that despite the regulation of fiat, money laundering still happens, what about blockchain technology that is underregulated? More laundering will surely happen.

Also, you surprised me with the claim that all blockchain transactions could be traced, have you heard of mixers and some internal dealers that make your transactions untraceable with a little stipend? Aside from that, money laundering could be easily done with blockchain technology because you are free to open as many accounts as you want without KYC.
4952  Economy / Economics / Re: What do you think of gold price in long term? on: October 30, 2022, 08:34:17 AM
I have always known that China and Russia are superpowers that don't like the USA and its dominance in the economic space. I am happy to tell them that 'there is nothing they can do about it,' the political and economic leadership of the USA helps the world till this moment, so they should 'wax it off.' According to your points, has their dumping of the USD for gold helped now when the USD is flying higher and gold is selling? They should shun enmity and embrace healthy economic practices that will move their countries and the world forward.
4953  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Is regulation really inevitable? on: October 30, 2022, 08:23:53 AM
Yes, regulation is inevitable, actually it's already in play and has been happening for a few years.  So yes, expect more and more of this as governments want a cut of the pie as well- this is the main motivator.
I agree with you, nothing would stop more regulations as we strive to create a better world. Cryptocurrency is a new technology that is still highly unregulated, and we should not deceive ourselves, no world government would be able to entertain that for long. As long as some people could be contacted, they would locate them and get them more accountable for their services. What could only be preserved is the decentralization of some coins, but regulation would unveil more anonymity. This might be inconvenient to many, but it would happen.
4954  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did a business proposal of paying 440 nights this Hotel for 1 BTC, October/2022 on: October 30, 2022, 08:18:12 AM
I must say that the hotel is cheap enough, paying about $49 per night is so cheap. This might mean that you will not be given food and some other perks, which makes it unwise to me. In the first place, why are you staying further in a hotel? If not for fame or other important reasons, then it's not worth it. I believe this is the time for business-minded Bitcoin holders to hold on to their coins because of the rainy day coming in 2024.

Don't squander your reserve at a low price, be wise.
4955  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Are we going to recover or continue to dump? on: October 30, 2022, 08:01:00 AM
It's a hood thing of you acknowledging the uncertainty part of the whole development but it seems from your comment, your more about the speculation of a dump rather than a rise. Your opinion though and I don't stand to argue that but I think, the market has dumped just well enough with its dip for this bearish market somewhere around $17k.

Imagining a dip below that would be thinking too harshly on the market and a take so bad on investors. I mean, this is a fall from an ATH of $64k. I think the market would or is already slowly correcting itself and would fully be unto the bulls after the halving.

It is a natural submissiveness if we look at the history of the decline that occurred after the ATH in the previous period. If you count in percent it may be almost the same. Perhaps today the differentiator is the problem of a bad world economy. The world economy will be difficult when the World Bank raises interest rates, but countries cannot get income. It makes the flow of money to crypto may go down because they prefer gold Or even they are sipping the stable coin to wait for the best moment to re-enter the market.
As far as I am concerned, the worst has gone, cryptocurrencies would not be badly affected again as they had been in the next 2 years. 2023 is the only year between now and halving and the economic woes and inflation that caused the pain for the coins would surely subside with the decisive measures being used by world leaders in checking it. We have neared a recession already, but this does not state that we are in a recession, and it will not be the first time that a reversal will happen at its brink.
4956  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin on: October 30, 2022, 07:49:08 AM
Can bitcoin go down to 10k$ this year. The fluctuation of the crypto space now is dragging the coin, and I think is still going down more before it can regain it strength. So can it still go down or rise back to 60k$ this year? Let discuss
Your levels (both up and down) are just unrealistic this year anymore, you should not even dream about them. You should know that this year is about to round up with barely 2 months remaining, nothing so significant could happen on the bullish and bearish side. As for the selling, inflation was a major factor that influenced that this year, but this is changing now as inflation has price-in for the year already, it would not cause a further fall below the low of June at $19,625.00.

I prefer a bullish trend for the rest of the year, yet, the Bulls cannot succeed above $35,000 according to my economic and technical studies of the coin.
4957  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Italian League Prediction Thread (Serie A) on: October 30, 2022, 07:41:08 AM
Lecce 0 - 1 Juventus

Today I must congratulate Juventus because they managed to win even if it was against an opponent that was not strong, but at least they managed to win
Good victory even though it's a narrow victory for them but it still looks quite good with the condition of their players who have a lot of gaps there because they are not filled properly considering the storm of injuries still lingers.
But indeed, seeing the formation that Allegri used in this match, this is indeed a formation that looks desperate in my opinion and seems imposing.

I called it a lucky winning immediately the match ended
Could be that the coach tactics are now poor, porous and rusty
Maybe Allegri needs to re-sign. That was not a convincing win
at least this is a valuable victory for Juventus to increase their confidence to face the next match.
Nicolo Fagioli's goal managed to deliver victory for Juvetus at home to Lecce, overall Juventus' game has improved but they didn't create many chances despite controlling the ballposition.
Juventus have not fully recovered but this win is very important for them.
Juventus is still on the struggling stage, looking at the the scoreline you will know. They were even lucky to have a goal Lecce defended well, but they couldn't hold it to the end.

It's was a nice game, I hope Juventus use this winning as their turning point to get back to winning games.
Juventus is having it hard this season though I won't underestimate them because they have not even lost a single match yet. It's their 2 draws that hold them back to 6th position, and that is not permanent, you know. But they need all-winning in order to meet up because Napoli is not smiling at all. Victor Osimhen has really helped the club, his latest hat-trick has sent the club 6 points above AC Milan which is the closest rival.
4958  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: Premier League Prediction Thread 2022/2023 on: October 30, 2022, 07:32:43 AM
According to the head to head statistics between Manchester United vs West Ham indeed Manchester United had good records but although they can beat West Ham several times but they can wins with slim scores so it proven West Ham is the team who cannot easily to beat and for today match Manchester United in the positive condition especially after unbeatable 7 matches in a row in all competitions it makes all of Manchester United players is fully confident to faced this match so for bet option without doubt pick Manchester United win as my bet is good even in my opinion this is safe bet for this match

West Ham is a good club... They're just not having the best of times compared to last season... But they can still cause trouble for Man U... I don't know who will win today because Man U have started to play better than they did at the beginning of the season and they can now be called the favourites to win this game... I'll just say we can expect goals from both teams...
I disagree with you, you can't compare West Ham with Man U, the difference is clear even at the trying times of the club. How many times have you seen West Ham finishing the league as first 7? But despite the woes of Man U, you will still see them taking that spot over and over again. The case of Man U is just like a very rich man that becomes a middle class or an above-average man, it will be so obvious, yet he's still not poor. The club will bounce higher under Erik ten Hag with time.
4959  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Day trading on: October 29, 2022, 09:35:52 AM
Both in Stocks and Crypto trading, nothing is wrong with day trading, some traders are making huge amounts of money through it. It also depends on what you mean by day trading because there are many strategies of day trading, we have scalping, holding the position for minutes, while others might hold their position for hours and even for the rest of the day (about 23 hours). The higher the duration of trading for the day trading, the better and less risky it is. And once your strategy is good enough, you will be winning regularly.

Nunez came to Liverpool with big expectations but the reality was different.

i can't understand why liverpool went to bring Darwin Núñez instead of trying to buy another player, there were so many good options that could fill the vacant place that mane left, but liverpol preferred to go buy Darwin Núñez, let's see the current statistics by Darwin Núñez:
Liverpool did not buy Nunes as a direct replacement of Mane, they had a second option which was to use Nunez as a standing striker at the top front and then have Diaz at the left side of the field and salah at the right side of the field. This was their plan but it is quite unfortunate that the reality did not agree with their plans.
It will also be difficult for Liverpool to have a direct replacement of Sadio Mane because those kind of selfless players are hard to see in football of today.
Liverpool continues to find it woefully this season, who knows, they could buy the needed players when the transfer window of January opens. Personally, I think they underestimated Mane, clubs and even companies do this, they focused their negotiation on Salah which is not cool. Both Mane and Salah were instrumental in building a good record for the club in a few years, you can see what is happening now. Klopp is an experienced coach, he should find a solution, but I doubt it if such could happen in the next 2 seasons.
