I gave you a merit because I think you are trying to contribute to the forum, and thank you for that. I see that you post quite a bit on the discussion board. If you get a chance, please can you post on the beginners board, we are trying to clean that up a bit, and turn it into a useful resource for new members.

Are you actively discussing Thermocoin anywhere?
I'm still evluating USPs for it. I've worked out a way to reward early miners with Bitcoin and they keep their ThermoCoins, and it won't require any initial coin purchases, so it won't be an ICO. I want it to take advantage of the emerging trend in the production of dual function mining hardware, but I need to learn more about mining before I can do that.

A few months and the secret is free to any and all, lol. I thought this account only discussed Merit.
Sometimes I forget who I am - I'd be no good as a scammer. Anyway talking merit is starting to get boring, pruned nodes are a bit more interesting at the moment. Now 'pruned merit' would be an interesting concept.

If you reply to an old thread, then obviously sMF will bump it, and it will be re-indexed. I was interested in discovering how Google handled a post that was edited when the thread isn't bumped. Obviously it doesn't exist as a page, and the page has to be created by SMF. If it checked all threads on a regular basis, it would put a massive load on the forum server.

Thanks for all the replies, there is an interesting mix of ideas and opinions in them.
I'll open this thread for anyone to post replies. It will be interesting to see the comments from senior members.

And if miners would mine actual Bitcoins in a way, they now are mining blocks you won`t be able to divide 1 BTC into parts and there should be a fixed number of Bitcoins in a blockchain. And yes, in this case each Bitcoin would have an identificator.
Thanks for the replies guys, and keep them coming. I highlighted this sentence, because it shows that Eternity has thought about the question and its ramifications.

I am going to run a node and get back to this post to prove it and obtain the merit from you. I will request for assistance if I fail to do it myself.
Let us know about your computer setup, and how long it takes to download the blockchain.

Thanks for the clarification. It isn't an important issue, I was just interested to discover how it works. I've noticed that a few of the bounty spammers edit old posts.

I've just logged in as "jet cash" to check, so it seems it is not sensitive to case.

A post edit doesn't seem to count as an update

The price of Bitcoin has dropped recently, and this is coupled with a reduction in transaction volumes. It has reached the point where a few miners have turned off their rigs as mining is no longer profitable for them, or switched them to other coins. This leads us to the second discussion topic.
If the price continues to drop, what effect will that have on Bitcoin mining and transactions?
Please note - this is not a discussion on the probability or otherwise of a change in the price of Bitcoin. As always - initial posts by newbies and juniors.

I have just bought the domain name ThermoCoin.com, and I have no association with the previous owner. If the coins were based on this domain name, then they will not be supported by me. I do have plans for the name, but nothing will happen until next year.

No results found for "ThermoCoin is going to be hot" So I think that proves that Google needs a prompt from SMF to re-index a thread. It's what I would have expected, but it seems to run counter to everybody else's belief.

You want merit?
Give up on the airdrops - you posted that they weren't any good for you. Read about Bitcoin and how it works, and participte in some of the newbie discussion threads tht I'm starting on the beginner's bord.

The bankrupt Douchebank and other bank shares are up, Bitcoin and Gold are down. The world has gone mad, and the only reason I can see for the bank rises is another round of theft to boost them ( sorry I should say bail-in ).

Here is a thought for you guys. If miners mined Bitcoins, then every Bitcoin would have a unique identification number - true or false?

You need to add one more activity - it's called reading the stickies.

We've had 15 replies so far, and I'll go through them again shortly. I'm thinking of opening the discussion to senior members once the post count passes 50. What do you think of that idea? It could clear up some of the miconceptions. I'd like to keep the new members discussing the topic in the opening pages though. I think it helps them if they have to do some research rather than just reading an information post.

I wondered if somebody would introduce orphan blocks. It's become quite an interesting discussion, and I'll reread the posts shortly. I'm also thinking of opening the thread to senior members once the post count has passed 50.

Thanks to all you guys who are participating in the question thread. I thought it might be interesting to start a subjective discussion thread as well. The rules are the same - no spam, newbies and juniors, all post for the benefit of improving the knowledge of forum members etc. So here is the first topic for discussion.
Miners don't mine Bitcoins, miners mine blocks for the blockchain
