4941  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: CRYPTO TREND HYPE.... on: October 23, 2020, 11:32:08 PM
HEY guys today i thinking about steps of crypto from year to year .
let me share with you that what actually i think . when i start mY work with crypto in 2017
that time crypto trend is going named ICO , after that in 2018 to 19 trend is going froward to MASTER NODS

AND now in 2020 new hype is NFT AND DEFI

NOW 2021 IS COMING

WHAT YOU THINK WHATS NEXT TREND OR HYPE.
Hey buddy, you missed out the Chinese coins trend that saw the birth of NEO, Binance, etc. What about the IEO days, STOs, Lending coins? I believe some of these trends are healthy for the growth of this industry and have helped to shape it deeply. I don't want to see the masternodes stuff as a mere trend, but as a tech that has continued to better crypto space till date.

For 2021? I think it would be good if anyone knew what trend we're going to be faced with ahead of time. But ruefully, this isn't possible. No man is clairvoyant enough to know this. Anyone armed with such knowledge will be a god.
4942  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Airdrops Confusion on: October 23, 2020, 05:47:49 PM
Are those spreading all over around especially in this forum known to be an "airdrop" is considered an airdrop or bounty campaign since some of those are requiring people to fill up some of the forms or need to sign up or follow some social media accounts, etc?
Since you did some task or work to get those coins.
What happens here is clearly spelt out as Bounty Campaigns and they run for a few weeks repeatedly with participants doing weekly tasks. Airdrops are quite different and they're one time off tasks carried out by participants on social media. Now, most of the airdrops coerce participants to remain in their telegram groups to ensure they keep discussions on. It doesn't go beyond that. Just joining social media groups and submitting ERC/or other wallet address and then wait out for distribution. Airdrop rewards are often tiny bits that often don't worth much when sent. I think the other scenario where tokens are sent to wallets without receivers' sending any address to the sender is a fork situation.

4944  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bitcoin broke $13k today on: October 22, 2020, 04:22:24 PM
I feel like hitting myself in the head with a hammer to think I sold my Bitcoin two days ago at $11,300+ or so, only for it to skyrocket today. Yeah, I know a lot of peeps will say I shouldn't regret selling off that soon but truth remains that it wasn't as if I was pressed for cash for anything at the time I offloaded them. Well, my only consolation is all these now is that this bull run will soon awaken altcoins to join the moon move. So, we are likely to witness an increased market cap again. Ignorant investors will again go crazy for penny priced tokens to chase prize up. This is surely an interesting time in the crypto space. Even Litecoin is beginning to show evidence of price surge too.
4945  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: How To Buy Bitcoin in Africa on: October 21, 2020, 01:17:31 PM
Compare to before, i think there are vast options available for Africans to be able to buy btc, i remember those days when I use to buy from local resellers in my country, it was very risky because you have to transact in their website and the chances of not receiving the btc is very high,
This is one area I don't feel bad not being an early adopter because it's obvious they suffered great and daunting challenges acquiring Bitcoin at the time, especially in Africa. You could imagine trying to buy from a local contact with an escrow. The chances of getting scammed were the anxious waiting moments. Even now with escrows, people still get scammed or cheated out of their money. Good a thing we now have trusted exchanges with not much hassles transacting on them.

In the past it could be an issue with websites but some groups in different countries do sell and buy within themselves but with a middle person to stand for the transactions done either a trusted person like escrow as it can be done on this forum too.
I think p2p has given much rise to the awareness of Bitcoin in my country, having to do with so many crowd funding or ponzi schemes requiring Bitcoin as an option for registration fee. Participants readily buy/sell from among themselves. Yes, I know there are quite a lot of scammers hoodwinking others on this but that isn't taking anything away from the genuine users and merchants. Again, those trading Bitcoin and cryptos are on a rise in my country and this has enabled many to buy easily from these traders.
4946  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Rather learn to trade by yourself on: October 21, 2020, 11:21:49 AM
This crypto currency market is not trade fair or Walmart market.
When I saw the bolded, I suspected where OP could be speaking from. And then I saw the one below 👇and realized my hunch wasn't wrong, after all.

if it goes soar wetin u go talk.
Naija, I hail thee! Area!

Best is to learn the exact process or strategy, and trade for yourself, than give your money to someone to trade for you in a very high volatile market
This, on a serious note, goes with the axiom — Teach me how to fish, and not give me fish. It's very important doing it on one's own even when the learning process is daunting and herculean. Acquire the set skills for trading and you won't have to live in want for life.
4947  Other / Politics & Society / Re: EndSARs: The movement for police reformed as a result of police brutality in NiG on: October 20, 2020, 05:00:22 PM
Beyond this #endsars, it's obvious that Nigerians aren't happy with the lopsided appointments of the Buhari led administration which he has turned into a northern enclave, sort of, and appointing only his kinsmen from the north into juicy positions. No federal character is observed any more in appointments. The APC led government has destroyed all that it took several administrations years to build. It's a big shame that Buhari who was entrusted with so much trust and goodwill by the people has betrayed all that now. Anyone who tells you s/he isn't shocked and disappointed by what the FGN is doing to her citizens is either a clown or a hypocrite.
4948  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Democracy and Social Media: The Nigerian Story on #endSARS on: October 20, 2020, 01:38:59 PM
I think the protest is really turning to something else, I was supposed to travel to the east today for my sister's traditional and white wedding that Will be holding on next week, but as it is, I can't cus all the major roads are blocked, I thought this was supposed to be a peaceful protest??
Flights are doing well. All the airports are open. Sell some Bitcoin man and fund that trip jor 🙄 or are you also scared of heights?

I was totally in support of this endsars protest but it has shifted from what it was supposed to be to something else, if it has gotten to the extent of stopping people from going about their businesses, it's no longer peaceful in my honest opinion.
That's how revolutions start; protests that gradually degenerate into chaos. Before you know what next, the protesters will go bunkers and begin a manhunt for those perceived to have shortchanged them on their collective patrimony.

It was in 2012 in January. I remember it was a news that work Nigerians up on the that new year day and GEJ was being criticised for not allowing the festive period to be over, to allow people settle back into their base because that news instantly increased transportation fee to about 100%. The good thing was that GEJ listened and continued with status quo then.
I was one of those who criticized GEJ for that brash and thoughtless decision he took, knowing very well that Easterners are in love with Xmas and travelled to celebrate it. He shouldn't have taken that decision at the time he did. Whether he rescinded on that or not was immaterial. It was the height of wickedness for me.
4949  Economy / Reputation / Re: Goodbye, world! on: October 20, 2020, 01:05:03 PM
Beyond all the heartwarming goodbyes to the feline with nine lives, I sincerely do hope she didn't quit because of illness or something.

The Lauda moments were a handful; some more hilarious than others. Her knowledge of Bitcoin is topnotch. More is the fact that she was a real scare to scumbags/scammers and shit posters on BTT.
4950  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Democracy and Social Media: The Nigerian Story on #endSARS on: October 20, 2020, 08:31:09 AM
I like that Ojota pix. It's a favourable spot for anything rally and protest in Lagos. It was the spot that broke GEJ down during that January 1st fuel price increase demonstration. I think that was in 2010 or so. That spot should also bring the Buhari led administration down on its knees. Enough of this insensitivity on the part of the Nigeria government. Anyway, from the look of things this #endSARS protest is now assuming another dimension. It's spiralling out of control at both ends - government and protesters. The protest can degenerate to anything from this point if we followed the alleged prison break in Edo State yesterday. I like the fact that the youth came out on the streets to say "enough is enough" at this point in time.

We have 1x Hero/Legendary spot open, apply now.

Dear manager, I thought I should bring this to your notice. One of the participants for the Snr Member slot already turned Hero here, perhaps you missed his post as quoted below:

Hi CM, I just want to inform you that I have ranked up to Hero member and it fine if there's currently no open slot for Hero member but I'm informing so you can put me on the queue list for the Hero slot.
4952  Economy / Speculation / Re: history loves repeating itself. the only question is when! on: October 18, 2020, 04:17:24 PM
The real question is when will it break free?
The market seems ready. The whales have accumulated enough and weak hands are getting FOMO_y to start buying again.
I say thinks are looking good...
For me, the real excitement comes with altcoins soaring once the unrestricted bull run begins for Bitcoin. This is what some of the investors are going to be looking at too. We saw it with the 2017 FOMO and that helped altcoins gain momentum. Almost anything that was crypto on the market had a great run. I have observed this in the past and usually it went with the post Bitcoin halving year. I expect a huge break next year. The price can play around that 11,000 — $15,000 to main relative stability until 2021. It's going to be an interesting time going forward.
4953  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Did bitcoin lose its value? on: October 18, 2020, 02:06:05 PM
So did bitcoin has losen its value with usd? If yes then similarly other fiat currencies like usdb, usdt etc. also lose their value with devaluation of us dollar.
There's no way we should consider the current state of Bitcoin as having lost its value when we view it from the prism of its present price. If anything, it gained value. It's a pandemic at hand at the moment, yet the price keeps soaring and more users get added on its network from patronage. Take a perusal of fiat standing against Bitcoin, dollar and pounds inclusive, and you will observe that from $3,500 in February-March this year to well over $11,000 now shows value addition to Bitcoin. It's value that causes demand; and demand paves way for price increase. And this is what is happening with Bitcoin. Technically, for me, Bitcoin has gained more value than all fiat at this time.
4954  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Greedy crypto developers on: October 18, 2020, 06:04:34 AM
Developers should stop taking investors as fools, you cooked your project up to your taste and everything seem fine enough but because you are too greedy and can't take your eye off DeFi success you decide to switch your project to DeFi. Seriously are investors stupid enough to go along with your obvious trick? To all developers who are doing this, it's a complete slap to your faces, you guys should be ashamed of yourselves.
I think it's rather a slap on the faces of investors because investors are the ones who get cheated out of their money. What you talked about of certain projects hooking up a DeFi piece into their White Paper so as to get maximum patronage even when their projects have nothing genuinely related to DeFi is true. These scumbag developers know it's not that easy understanding the confusing world of cryptos and that not too many people actually do due diligence before investing their money on any project (even those who do, truly may not even actually understand deeply) so they latch unto this to deceive us. Till date, not many even know what drives the DeFi projects. Surprisingly, I have heard this type of confession from tech savvy guys here. So, a below average guy investing in cryptos truly needs luck to succeed in picking out viable projects to invest in.
4955  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Why FOMO isn't as bad as people make it seem. on: October 18, 2020, 05:18:42 AM
The simple rule is "buy at the bottom and sell at the top". But i don't think this applies to all coins, it only applies to solid coins like bitcoin, ethereum and the likes, because they have stood the test of time and would surely find their way back up.
Bitcoin and ETH won't give you the type of ROI those 'untrusted' altcoins will give if they were to later succeed and not disappear. I guess this is the reason traders take the risk investing in them.

FOMO isn't that bad simply because it can leads you to be in profits sometimes but not every time so its more like how early you enter into the ship and exit at the perfect time before it gets drowned. But there is no other reasons to call it as good, and even you are manipulated so don't become someone who make decision for other's profits.
Honestly, I don't know which is better; FOMO or FUD? But I think while FUD saves you from incurring losses but preventing you from making profits and a good ROI, FOMO gives you that anxiety to buy on impulse and possibly record losses and regrets. You know, when YFI got to over $30,000 traders chased the price up to $40,000+ because of FOMO. Now YFI is trading below $14,000. Those who bought ATH are still licking their wounds from that action. The same thing happens to those who bought Bitcoin at ATH in 2017 and Bitcoin is yet to revisit the $19,000+ ATH till date. I rather fall a victim to FUD than to FOMO.
4956  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: I'm very worried about my Crypto Trading. on: October 17, 2020, 05:39:57 AM
I'm very worried, Will I ever be able to make some income by trading crypto? Everything I buy is down. If I want to earn something from Crypto trading, then what do I have to do? What do I need to know?
It's a depressing situation you described there. You're not alone on this and I can tell you for free that every veteran once had their fingers burnt on this too. But the important thing and what cuts them clear of losses is their ability to pick themselves up and forge ahead, mastering the skill sets for trading. The easiest place to start for free is YouTube. There are lots of tutorial materials on YouTube. However, you should also realize that even veterans also have bad trades from time to time. No one holds a holy grail when it cones to trading.

Nevertheless, I must warn you that learning isn't child's play. You have to devout time and practice (this is the area a lot of aspiring traders lag behind) to it to have a grip on it. While you are at it, let me quickly add that, for whatsoever reason, you shouldn't make any trade call from anything less than the 4hr Time Frame. It saves you the emotional trauma of what the lesser TFs do and muddle your brain with.
4957  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Strictly for those who have ears on: October 17, 2020, 03:23:13 AM
It still look very suspicious even when its listed on uniswap, hotbit and bilaxy.  But the github https://github.com/yfnetworkdefi made them look validated.
I am not a tech kind of guy and so don't know much about the technicalities involved in all that. But I have read several articles where it was explained that the github is a better place to check if you want to know whether a project is genuine or not. So, for the fact that YFN is active there tells us that it's a serious project, isn't it?

You' have to wonder where the investors of these project came from to learn about them.
I think investors get wind of these DeFis from ICO and airdrop channels on telegram and Twitter. For instance, I read about FYN on telegram while it was still at the presale stage but was skeptical buying in.
4958  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Strictly for those who have ears on: October 16, 2020, 03:48:56 PM
4. Yearn Finance Network (YFN)
Token type: ERC20
Token Price: 3.53$
Max supply: 70,000 YFN

Website Link: https://www.yfnetworkdefi.com/
You may want to crosscheck your information on that one. The total supply is 48,000 YFN and not 70,000. The project is already out and actively trading on Hotbit, Uniswap and Bilaxy at around $4+. See details here https://www.coingecko.com/en/coins/yearn-finance-network. BTW, it also had airdrops last week. It's a project am closely monitoring but don't know what truly moves the DeFi coins.
4959  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin is resistant to scams and illegal activities on: October 16, 2020, 06:18:42 AM
The narrative that Bitcoin is used to facilitate scams and illegal activities has been sold by a couple of mainstream medias and used as a reason by government agencies to attempt regulating cryptocurrency transaction and eliminating the pseudo-anonymity factor which it has. This increases the cost of anonymity as Banks and governments struggle to maintain control over financial activities of its citizens.
Contrary to this narrative, due to some of the qualities that the Bitcoin network possesses, it appears to actually be more resistant to fraud and does not facilitate illegal activities;
Those who indulge this narrative are only being mischievous. It's analogous to giving a dog a bad name just to hang it. Bitcoin is slightly over a decade old but money laundering and financial crimes have been there for decades. Was Bitcoin their medium? Of course, not.

Decentralization is the way to go. Financial institutions and various governments know this but are scared it will cut them off the lives of those they have a firm grip milking. This is their concern and they feel they will lose money allowing Bitcoin grow. Sadly, Bitcoin/cryptocurrency is out of their league now. There's little or nothing they can do to stop the move now. It's a community move. Once the huge 2018 crash didn't collapse and kill the cryptocurrency industry, it's going to be hard for anything to.
4960  Other / Politics & Society / Re: EndSARs: The movement for police reformed as a result of police brutality in NiG on: October 16, 2020, 05:42:57 AM
#endSARS #endSWAT

The IG of Police disbanded SARS and set up SWAT within a few hours to unsettle demonstrators but that hasn't appeased protesters. Let me not belabour the definition of SARS as a lot of compatriots have provided definition to that. However, some people are of the opinion that the real meaning of SWAT is SARS With Another Title. It's just pouring in of an old wine in a new bottle. It's a shame that a special police force set up to  combat robbery turned against innocent Nigerians while the robbers and internet fraudsters often escape them once they can dole out money to the SARS' officers. There are instances where SARS officers roamed the streets with POS machines to easily extort people they perceived to be criminals without proofs. I am all in for this #endsars thing, though I wasn't a victim of those criminal outfit. This demonstration took the Federal Government of Nigeria by surprise as it never believed it would last this long. The youth have risen to the occasion this time and it's a good thing. There is even one SARS OC, James Nwafor, who was fingered in various innocent murders and the people called for his prosecution but the Anambra State governor, Willie Obiano, shielded him and made him his Chief Security Officer (CSO). Can you beat that? Now, because of the pressure from the ongoing demonstration, Obiano has sacked him and set up a panel to investigate all accusations against Nwafor. Let's see where all these lead to.
