4961  Other / Off-topic / Re: Sim Swap Scam Hack? on: May 20, 2020, 11:27:34 PM
Look this a simple flow how the sim port attack:

read more here: https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5146701.msg51191498#msg51191498
(You can also found an incident happened which lost of almost $100,000 )

Rather than bribing someone at the cell phone sim company or your telecom provider, they can impersonate you or they will pretend as you just the telecom provider will believe. Or this could be an insider, some staff in your telecom provider can also do this.

Does Google 2FA stop sim swap hacks?
For me, some part yes. Especially those account that even you reset the password or change the email address, upon logging in, it still needs the 2FA code, but what if they will contact the website and pretend/impersonate again especially they already owned your email address or already changed it, you still can't guarantee here.

Quote
So any website that uses normal sms text verification can be sim swap hacked?
Not unless your sim will be swapped to the hacker's sim. A website that has SMS verifications are not the threat here.

Quote
If hacker already knows password to victim email account then no sim swap hack required? Just hacker requesting password changes. The sim swap hack is just needed to access the victim's email?
Chance will become higher on this. But what if the hacker will change the email address/password and it needs confirmation on the mobile number? So, it will still become useless. You have the access, but you can't fully owned it by changing the password or changing the mobile number connected to the account.

Quote
Finally whats the single best most convenient way of preventing a sim swap hack?
Avoid entertaining some random people on the internet especially asking for your personal information or avoid sharing your personal information.
2FA can also be helpful.
Having multiple mobile numbers, like you can separate some of your accounts that need to connect with your mobile number.

I want to ask if the team should be composed of Bitcointalk members also?
It's much exciting if the team is composed of Bitcointalk members too.
I also started to play mobile legends few months ago as I can't go to some computer shop to play Dota2 since of the lockdown and temporary closed of some business establishment.
4963  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: How long does an ETH transaction stay pending before it gets dropped? on: May 19, 2020, 11:29:32 PM
The best way to do before sending an ETH or making any ethereum transaction is to check first the suggestion or recommended transaction fee, you can check it here: https://ethgasstation.info/
I also don't understand what OP said by the term dropped, does it mean to be sent or to become invalid/cancelled?
4964  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Why the whales want to trade as anonymous on: May 19, 2020, 10:28:30 AM
But to be honest, being completely anonymous is quite hard these, Exchanges are now imposing KYC for transactions involving amounts as little as $10,000 so, there is no way of avoiding getting verified if one wants to trade.
For sure, if they started to make huge transaction especially in some exchanges, they already know that their identity could be known and can put to risk. But what if some whales are hiding behind some another person? Could this possible? Like if you are whale and want to hide your identity, you will hire some other people to use their identity or create some random or fake identity just to hide yours.
4965  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: Your Best trading platform is? on: May 19, 2020, 10:24:44 AM
I am still loyal to the Binance exchange because it has many great trading functions. (...)
For sure, the majority will also select Binance. But there are some people also don't like Binance since they also experience some of the features there to some exchanges.
The also good thing in Binance is they got combination of spot trading and margin trading. But there are still some people who much prefer some exchange that only caters margin trading, like Bitmex.
4966  Economy / Service Announcements / Re: How should casinos be rated? on: May 19, 2020, 10:19:13 AM
First, I think this thread belongs in the Gambling Discussion section, which also under on this board. You can move it.

For me, casinos can be rated as usual how trusted they are, especially we are depositing our funds and play on their site. But besides that, I also look at how their casino site looks like and how the experience when you are playing there.
E.g. Responsive on multiple devices, not slow even you have a good internet connection, simple user interface (colors, shapes, texts, etc).
4967  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Basic security guide (firewall, backups, antivirus..) - not only for beginners on: May 19, 2020, 10:13:52 AM
Additionally; Avoid connecting in some public networks, like public free wifi or wifi in some coffee shops, it could also risky.
And for the software part, also avoid using some cracked software because some of them could have some malware inside. Cracked softwares are very common in the Windows operating system.
4968  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Beware of Scam Emails like this on: May 18, 2020, 12:27:51 PM
For bounty hunters, they'll sign up to those because they treat it as a free money although there will be no assurance that the token they are about to receive will have value. They go with the promises that turns out to be a failed project. Us, who are aware of such, we tend to ignore them but these scams are targeting newbies.
Oh, I also forgot this, bounty hunters especially in Altcoin sections are also vulnerable to this kind of attack.
I think some of the bounty campaigns there require you to fill up some forms, and maybe some of those asking for your personal information, like email addresses or links of some of your social media accounts.
They do ask for it.

And that's why the bounty hunters should be aware of what they're signing up so that they wouldn't be surprised if someone emails them with an unusual promotion or advertisement through their email. If they can remember that they didn't signed up for any other thing except the bounty, that's where the conclusion starts.
But for sure, some of the bounty hunter veterans already aware of this, they have some solution for it, like they are creating separate email addresses for their bounty campaigns, separate from their personal or whatever. The difficulty here if some newbie started to join some bounty campaigns and entered their email addresses, then that's the start they got some scam emails and fall for it.
4969  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Where to buy Bitcoin with creditcard fast? on: May 18, 2020, 12:46:00 AM
Try also to check out bestchange.com, which you can get some exchanger there that accepts VISA/MasterCard.
Just beware here, because most of the listed exchanger are third parties, meaning they are not under BestChange. They have the list, just check it.
If you check on their site, you can see the list of online banking list;

4970  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Can you buy Bitcoin and Alts without Identification? on: May 18, 2020, 12:41:14 AM
There is also a problem in buying of Bitcoin on some Bitcoin ATMs, since the spread of buying price and selling price here is far different, which is extremely far different on the real price of Bitcoin in some exchanges, but I think this is one of the ways that Bitcoin ATMs can earn money or make profits. And also I think there is some limit in buying Bitcoin in Bitcoin ATMs like there is a minimum limit or maximum limit you can buy.
4971  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: What is the best stablecoin right now? on: May 18, 2020, 12:34:54 AM
I'll go with the highest market cap for now, which is USD Tether.
But I started also to be intrigued by DAI of MAKER which is also a stable coin under maker, which runs under the Ethereum network.
I also love DAI because you can use it to the Maker CDP, which for example you will borrow a stable coin which here is DAI, and you will have some collateral, like Ethereum.
4972  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Beware of Scam Emails like this on: May 18, 2020, 12:24:40 AM
One scam email type is this airdrop scam.
These scammers probably bought a database that includes most of those registrants from an old airdrop or any bounty that you had before. (....)
I am 90% sure that those email addresses they are using are from those forms or activities that happened before, like for airdrops around bull run 2017- 2018. Which a lot of scam airdrop spreading especially in the Altcoin section, they will just leave a google form and you will fill it up with your personal information especially the email address.
Either we create a new email address for this or just ignore those emails (report or mark as spam).

I am a little bit curious that how they were able to get your email address in the first place?
Rather if you did not share your email address to anyone especially those some cryptocurrency airdrops that required an email address to participate or subscribing to some newsletter of cryptocurrency news providers or any.
Because for me, this kind of email becomes normal, I also received this kind of email.
4974  Economy / Gambling / Re: List of Cryptocurrency Gambling,Casino & Betting sites with bonus & promo codes! on: May 17, 2020, 01:09:39 AM
Do the gambling/casino sites listed on your site have paid you before will be listed there? Or it's purely transparent, like community voting to get listed there? Since I saw some familiar gambling sites there especially some sites that I already tried to play.
And I notice some links there contains a referral link if you will click on some listed gambling site there, well, there is nothing wrong about that.
I love the user interface of the website, it's really simple and the look is superb!

I am curious enough if it's okay with Telegram to use their project that suspended? For sure, these groups of developers has authorized by Telegram. The difficulty here is what if, these groups of developers are also connected with Telegram? Do they just want to cut the connection of Telegram to the TON cryptocurrency?

4977  Economy / Gambling / Re: 💰 BetOnBit.com | Unique crypto betting site | Sports & Esports 💰 on: May 17, 2020, 12:48:11 AM
I just want to report a minor bug upon withdrawing funds using a mobile browser on android.
In the field of Bitcoin address if you withdraw a Bitcoin, if you copy and paste the address and exit on the input text without tapping the "enter" sign on your keyboard, the "withdraw" button is still disabled, but if you click the enter key in your keyboard after you paste the address, it's good.
4978  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: Exchange security questions on: May 15, 2020, 01:02:44 AM
With Binance, you are saved as they have proven this last year despite the hack. Other shady exchanges has a very high risk, that is why it is good to always select an exchange with reputation and that have stand the test of time.
It's still risky, even how popular exchange you are, remember Mt. Gox exchange?
Binance got their Secure Asset Fund for Users (SAFU) which will likely for emergency insurance funds, but still what if those funds will also be lost? Or multiple hacks will happen in Binance, still risky and there are still chances your fund will be lost.
Read more about Binance SAFU here: https://www.binance.vision/glossary/secure-asset-fund-for-users
4979  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Great news sources about the crypto world. on: May 15, 2020, 12:53:32 AM
I think Telegram gives better information about crypto on social media than Twitter. Telegram is far more popular than Twitter when it involves performing on crypto Everyone gets all the updated information about crypto through a telegram from the start. Twitter keeps tons of data secret when it involves using their own currency.
Nah. Telegram and Twitter are really different from each other.
What I am saying is the twitter account of those said news providers in the first post, those providers got their own twitter accounts which you can easily follow them and get updated since most of their tweets are their articles. But I think they got also telegram channels where they also post their articles there.
4980  Economy / Gambling discussion / Re: GAMBLING: Skill-based vs. Chance-based on: May 14, 2020, 09:47:40 AM
Skill-based is kinda difficult for me, especially I am a busy person since if you want to dominate in Skill-based games, you really should need a lot of time to practice and play more to become a skilled player.
I'll go with chance-based gambling since all the players are the same, even how much your fund is or skill is, the chance will still decide.
