... but with fiats, you lose even if you don't sell - because their inflation goes one way. your dollar will never be able to buy more than today.
Good argument for investing in Bitcoin. And lottery tickets.

... I watched bitcoin go from $10 to $1200 and then back to $400 again.
Obviously the gains are massive
There will be another x100 price increase, I guarantee it. Bitcoin is not even close to yet realizing its full potential.
And once we stop to consider that each bitcoin was once worth *nothing*, the price gains start seeming downright astounding...

That's a different argument. Clearly BTC is worth more than my shitcoin. I simply pointed out that Bitcoin's inelasticity is, in itself, an insufficient reason for Bitcoin to succeed.
But money doesn't have to be elastic. And Bitcoin's inelasticity is absolutely the reason for its current and future success. Sure, but that's a Keynes/Austrian school debate, outside of this thread's scope.

Let me explain how that works: Kupsi opined that he favored Bitcoin because, unlike government-controlled fiat, bitcoin is governed by maths and science. I pointed out that my shitcoin was also unbacked by statist pigs, and, like Bitcoin, was ruled by science ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) What don't you get here? (be specific) I agree that "Maths and Science" sometimes get thrown around like magical solutions by some pro-bitcoin people. But ask yourself this: How easy is it to change the money emission scheme for a central bank? How easy is it to change the money emission scheme for the bitcoin network? It is relatively easy to change the rate of money creation for a central bank. That's essential to modern economy. It is very difficult to change the rate of money creation for both Bitcoin and my shitcoin. If this difficulty is what you like about Bitcoin, you should love my shitcoin too.<==that's my point. Ok, but then we get into the network effect argument. That's a different argument. Clearly BTC is worth more than my shitcoin. I simply pointed out that Bitcoin's inelasticity is, in itself, an insufficient reason for Bitcoin to succeed.

When i compare you to a drooling imbecile, I'm still talking about you. Similarly, when I compare Bitcoin to my shitcoin, I'm still talking 'bout Bitcoin.
Does this help at all?
Still stubbornly defiant, eh Chop? No, your honesty and irrefutable logic have won me over, I'm ready to join. Bitcoin is controlled by math and algorithms while Fiat is controlled by governments and banks. That's why people should trust Bitcoin more than Fiat.
My shitcoin is also controlled by math. Trust my shitcoin ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) I trust it. But I want to use the coin that most people use. Bitcoin is most useful to me. Then what are you doing in the speculation forum? @okthen: pretty much what Spaceman_Spiff said. For the same reason the finance aficionados on this forum are hoping for world economic collapse--they're dangerously deluded cultists.
Nope, just accepting an unpleasant inevitability is all, real and honest stuff so you'd probably have a harder time understanding than most. Bitcoin's already saved a few folks when their financial system collapsed and they where locked out from their bank accounts and it will likely do the same for many many more because the global financial system has been bent and strained to breaking point. Whether that ends in a controlled correction or a complete failure is up to people like Greenspan and Bitcorn so I've not a whole lot of hope for it but maybe they can hold it together, either way the west is going to end up a whole lot poorer. You do realize that if world economy does collapse, Bitcoin will be as worthless as any other scrip? And what's up with all the anger? Anger? I assure you not, just giving a troll the respect they deserve. For example, you refer to bitcoin as scrip which is ironic because the very definition of scrip requires it to devalue over time ... Not only are you angry, you're also wrong. You're probably thinking of demurrage. Or maybe just huffing gas, I dunno.

Nah. Fiat is the orthodoxy, by definition not a cult. It also comes in handy when I wish to buy such niceties such as food, cigs and gasoline ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) Or, indeed, the wheelbarrow to carry it in. When was the last time you carried a wheelbarrow full of fiat, Richy_T? Me, personally? Not yet... ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2F2.bp.blogspot.com%2F_orkXxp0bhEA%2FSWVl4pUMrdI%2FAAAAAAAAO-E%2FJFBVAQZFl3o%2Fs400%2F090107-weimar.jpg&t=663&c=FGIBWNz7xVxoCg) Then WTF are you talking about? Sure, fiat has failed in the past. So did entire civilizations. Life is funny that way.

Use plastic, get on my level. Convenient, accepted everywhere (well, Pedro selling shit dope on the corner bulks, but otherwise...), and best of all--safe. ![Cool](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/cool.gif) But plastic won't burn for long and probably gives toxic fumes ![](https://ip.bitcointalk.org/?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.devvy.com%2Fnew_graphics%2Fmoney_to_burn.png&t=663&c=_6ZqUHfsC9MZyw) It's becoming clear you're not too familiar with modern life. We don't burn credit cards. Hope this helps.

... heh... who is hoping for economic collapse ? im still holding fiat more than i hold bitcoin. but be realistic when everyone says bad thing ahead. ...
Oh, I dunno. Plenty of people here think that Bitcoin is going to be valuable when fiat collapses. uhm... says the fiat cultist... ![Tongue](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/tongue.gif) Nah. Fiat is the orthodoxy, by definition not a cult. It also comes in handy when I wish to buy such niceties such as food, cigs and gasoline ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif) i believe in honest money: gold, silver and bitcoin... nb: off course i do stock trading too because it usually make more fiat than gold and silver, but now im thinking about trading bitcoin instead... "Honest money" is a silly expression coined by neolibbers. Stop using junk jargon, what does it even mean?
