4961  Economy / Trading Discussion / Re: How Escrow works .. in this case ? on: June 22, 2015, 05:44:35 PM
Escrow keeps the money from the buyers and keeps the items from the sellers, check the items as claimed! Then send the items to the buyers and wait for the confirmation from buyers then send the money to sellers! Then this escrow is perfectly done!

Oh I see , so the Escrow gets the items too , I thought he only gets the bitcoins however it still dosen't make sense , imagine that escrow sent the item to the buyer and as you said "wait for the confirmation from the buyers" , what if the buyer never receive the items for one reason or another like idk .. package got stolen or something like that . who would be responsible buyer still can claim that he didn't receive anything . (It may true , it may be wrong)

You can do it either way. Ebay does it the way you mentioned in the op and it is much simpler and quicker, but it is open to abuse my one of the parties trying to scam. Sending the item and money to escrow is time consuming and more expensive but if you trust the escrow then everybody should be happy.
4962  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: JoyStream: Proof of Concept Demonstration (BitTorrent with BTC) on: June 22, 2015, 05:38:00 PM
It makes it more difficult for sure, though some will happily roll over and give them everything they ask for little to no questions asked. Just make sure you use one that isnt or is very unlikely to do this. There are also other ways you can protect yourself as well though.
4963  Other / Off-topic / Re: What was BTC price? on: June 22, 2015, 05:31:08 PM
Think the first time I heard of bitcoin it was £30-40. I bought my first coins at somewhere between 60-70 I believe.

14-15 USD actually per BTC

And you still sit with a newbie account.

OP, I first paid $230 then I brought more in the following weeks $150-$100, would have been nice to be an early adopter but I won't complain it could have been worse like for some who paid $1000+

I just got permanent ban by BadBear 3 days ago.

Then why are you still posting? I told you not to evade your ban or post outside of Meta  Roll Eyes.
4964  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: JoyStream: Proof of Concept Demonstration (BitTorrent with BTC) on: June 22, 2015, 05:26:26 PM
Here in Germany they go after BitTorrent by prosecuting the seeders. They get the IP address of the seeder then go to the ISP to find out the owner of that IP address (linked to an address). They then send a letter in the mail to the owner of that Internet contract telling them that they will be fined for illegally sharing copyrighted content.

My former landlord received one such letter because "one" of his tenants, who shall remain nameless, was seeding. The fine was somewhere around 900 euros each for 2 different movies. Fighting it involves getting a lawyer and trying to get the fine down.

When I was home visiting my mother she received a nastygram e-mail and phone call from Comcast because "one" of her sons, who shall remain nameless, just happened to have BitTorrent running with some seeded files. Of course, in the US there is no enforcement behind such notices so I told her to ignore it.

Thats the problem. Would a VPN solve it? because maybe the VPN providers are forced to disclose the information of whoever was using the VPN if the "bitorrent police" comes asking.

Depends which VPN you use. If you were concerned I'd find a service that keeps no personal logs or details of their customers etc, but some do and if they get a subpeona then they will be forced to turn over all they have on you.
4965  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Why consumers are not adopting BTC on: June 22, 2015, 05:22:34 PM
BTC must be made far simpler to understand before people will start using it en masse. At least in the West, BTC entails many changes in how people think about money, which means it's not easy to grasp. It has to be friendly for non-tech people, which it really is not right now. Most people don't know what Github is, or their computer's terminal, etc. They don't necessarily have the stepping stones to understand what BTC has to offer.

Bitcoin is already pretty simple and will get even easier and more user friendly as time goes on. People don't need to know what Github is to use it either. I'm sure most people who use Paypal don't know what Github is either but they work their accounts just fine.

i think confirmation time is our problem,if that could be solved i believe so many consumers will adopted bitcoin as payment

Transactions are already instant, but how long would you suggest it takes before something is fully confirmed? The confirmations are there as a safe measure to protect people and drastically lowering them could cause problems.

You should post some timestamped pictures and you might get more interest.
4967  Economy / Speculation / Re: Amazon is going to accept bitcoin in the near future on: June 22, 2015, 01:32:59 PM
I assume they've been sending out the same emails since 2011 or so. It excites the enquirer and makes them sound cool without actually having to do anything.

It's probably an automatic email too. I'm sure Amazon will come around eventually and accept bitcoin as will hopefully most other online merchants, it's just a matter of when and having patience.
4968  Other / Politics & Society / Re: Los Angeles Man Claims KFC Served Him Fried Rat on: June 22, 2015, 01:23:37 PM
Probably the healthiest meal that burger-eating lard-assed yank has ever eaten (joke btw).

Funny how he still took a bite out of it, looks like he bit off the head.

What's the first thing you do when you are finally handed your order? study the shape or smell everywhere? No, you put it in your mother fucking mouth. The lad did the same thing and spit out when he felt it isn't alright. He wasn't looking for fame, man. If it was, he'd make a big scene out of it. He just filed a report. That's good.

Pretty sure most people inspect their food at least somewhat before throwing it down their mouths (even if it's just a quick glance and if you aren't then you probably should). Would you really eat a fried swatsika made out of broken glass if it was fried and you pulled it out of a box? Just picking that piece up alone would feel likely feel different and the fact that it has a long tail-looking thing dangling off it would surely catch your attention. Oh, and it's clearly not actually a rat though it does look like one.
4969  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2015-06-18] Metro: Could Greece take bitcoin as its official currency? on: June 21, 2015, 03:50:30 PM
If it comes down to ditching the Euro then they will just go back to printing their own. However, bitcoin could see a growth and adoption by Greeks choosing to put their money into it or use it as an alternative system.

Isn't Mars One a scam?

how it is a scam if they are not requesting any money, but they are offering everything?

i can't see as a scam sincerely

It's probably more of a publicity stunt or attention seeking by the fantasist who created it than a traditional scam, but I think they might have charged people a fee to review their applications and they're selling merchandise etc but regardless of their motives one thing is for sure it's not going to happen as there's not the money or technology for it.
Well, we don't know that for sure as of now.  It's what will happen over the span of the next 10 years that will dictate whether this mission will become a reality or a complete fail.

We do know. It's not going to happen by Mars One or anyone else anytime soon. If NASA doesn't have the money or likely even the technology to safely get and store people there then some crappy company wont be able to raise it or develop it. It would almost certainly cost hundreds of billions and currently the costs outweigh the benefits. I think they should wait until there's justifiably a very good reason to go as there's no rush. I think we need to take into consideration the ethical and psychological effects of the mission as well.

How about Sweden U21 v England U21 or Brazil v Venezuela for today's game? (I'm sure most will want the Brazil one though  Grin).
4972  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Potencial Bussiness In Bitcointalk.org on: June 21, 2015, 01:35:52 PM

If you have money in another form doesnt mean that you want to sell this. For example a steam account. You might want to keep it. Though you still can give it as collateral to an escrow.

And why should someone accept 50% risk? The scammer could have planned to scam an amount 50% of the taken loan. Then you gave him 100% of what he wanted that way.

It's not just about scams, its also about accidental defaults. There could be cases where the loaner just simply cant pay the loan back and it defaults on it.

For example if you give out 0.5 BTC for a gambler and he lose it all, but his income is from faucets only and he cannot pay it back at all.

In that case you need to factor that in, every bank or loaning agency does the same, there is mathematical part you cannot ignore when working with money , merely probability & statistics  Wink

If many scammers appear suddenly then you got 2 options: raise the interest rates to cover the losses, or implement stricter rules for giving out loans.

...Or just take collateral to make sure you're covered. Forum accounts are the best thing imo. Raising interest rates isn't really going to do much because any higher just makes it even less worth it for the borrower and less likely they'll pay back and even if you did raise them considerably it's still not going to be enough to cover losses. All you need is one scammer to not pay back and it will put you in the red from all your over loans.
4973  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: [WTB] Senior (or better) Bitcointalk Account on: June 20, 2015, 04:37:04 PM
LOL -- all these low-ball offers appearing on the forum. Doesn't seem anyone is willing to sell at these prices though. Have there been any confirmed trades for a Sr Member below 0.2? Serious question.

I'm sure there will be some who would sell that low but only if they're desperate or want a quick sale. Not really much point selling an account for any lower as you can easily make more than that in one month from just posting. Op, out of interest, how much are you wanting to pay for a Senior account?
4974  Economy / Digital goods / Re: tradeing torrents invites on: June 20, 2015, 03:52:37 PM
not interested to sell just trade

The thread will be deleted if you don't use bitcoin in some way. I'd suggest offering to buy them via btc or your thread will be trashed.

4976  Economy / Invites & Accounts / Re: Sr Member Account for sale. GREEN TRUST on: June 20, 2015, 03:36:54 PM
Yes its right.
The account is black trusted in depth 2.
Green trusted in depth 4.
I hope that buyer dosnt use it to scam...
But they also sell knives and not only killers buy them.

What's the feedback score? Black trusted could mean 0: -0 / +0.

If you build your reputation over time there's a lot of different services that you can offer from loans, escrow, to managing threads and things for people etc.

There is already many escrow services here. Some of them will serve
you for free, for only tips.

But lending can be very profitable, but be careful.... there is a lot of
scammers here

That's why you take collateral. If you take their account as such and only give them half or less than what it's actually worth you could make a decent profit if they default but if they don't then you make a little on the interest instead.
