4961  Economy / Economics / Re: Why Bitcoin Is Going to Succeed: The Reason Nobody Is Talking About on: April 14, 2013, 07:22:47 PM
You sound very afraid of the 'Big Club'. Why wasn't the Internet killed then (same FUD, different technology)?
The truth is that there is no 1% actively chaining the 99%. It's much more complicated than that.
4962  Economy / Speculation / Re: IT STILL ISN'T BACK TO "NORMAL"! on: April 14, 2013, 06:45:57 PM
You think my parents ever heard about it? Guess again  Grin

But it's more for fun of course, don't feel offended. It could go to zero tomorrow just as easily. If I look what I can actually do with Bitcoin today, it's still nothing other than having coins Goxxed at Gox and talk about being Goxxed here at bitcointalk. Bitcoin is great in our heads, but still absent in real life by all practical means.

The reason for spending time making useless graphs is to keep minds moving.

As long as the Bitcoin protocol is not compromised, Bitcoin will have a place unless international payments will be free of costs and instantaneously. The next few years, 2 billion people will get access to the Internet. No, they won't need a bank account. It's a game changer.

But of course it is possible that the paradigm shift has happened and that now the practical implementation must happen to make it a success. I'm having fun nonetheless.

... My claim is that both high inflation and high deflation are bad, and that both low inflation and low deflation are tolerable.

You have to use a clear definition of deflation/inflation before discussing it. Bitcoin itself cannot be deflationary since no Bitcoins are destroyed. Bitcoins can be 'lost' or otherwise stuck without access but that does not change the core of the protocol.

If Bitcoin is thus not deflationary, or at least nothing extreme (lets say below 1%), the deflation you seem to have in mind is decreasing prices. Well, that's the economy and not Bitcoin. Changing equilibrium is just what free markets are about. New balance will be found until market preferences change again.

I had the same feeling.

4965  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: So why is gox doing that? on: April 14, 2013, 06:12:06 PM
Bitcoin is the Wild West. Stop whining and make your own plans if Gox is so bad.
4966  Economy / Economics / Re: Why does everyone keep calling this panic a bubble? on: April 14, 2013, 10:22:34 AM
Value is not without risk.... I don't have a problem with the current price and wouldn't have either with a price at $0.50. The concept of Bitcoin, that's what keeps me interested.

To the contrary I don't think that the price of $260 comes close to matching the true value of a bitcoin as a tool for international transfer of wealth or as a store of wealth.

That's why most people here stay interested in Bitcoin.

Its simple enough: this sucker is going down down down short term. 1st buy at $30, 2nd (if reached) at $15.
4971  Economy / Speculation / Re: The short term bear case on: April 13, 2013, 06:00:42 AM

Where did you get the impression that there is a lack of new buyers?

The price action?
4972  Economy / Speculation / Re: Crash will bottom at $30, you heard it hear first. on: April 13, 2013, 05:27:47 AM
The enthusiasm will fade. It isn't outlandish to bet on a $30 target. People forget a lot in 2 weeks time.
4973  Economy / Speculation / Re: Wall Observer - MtGoxUSD wall movement tracker on: April 13, 2013, 05:14:43 AM
Looking at the 2-hour, I still wouldn't put my money in it now and instead just wait.

And by the way - a vote on a web page changes nothing.

Doing nothing changes nothing. Positive action moves the earth. It all starts with one person taking action.
4978  Economy / Economics / Re: Mt Gox Verification Queue - Any Idea on Current Size? on: April 12, 2013, 09:05:32 PM
Don't know right now, but last week when I got in queue it was at like 8700.

OK thanks, I read it was 16,000 a little while before the crash.

I friend of mine registered today. He was number 25,300 in the verification queue.

Let me guess, they all want OUT of Bitcoins...  Lips sealed
4979  Economy / Speculation / Re: Bear appreciation thread.... on: April 12, 2013, 05:24:38 PM
Broken clock thread. I will look forward to the next one in about 12 months. Lucif got this one quite right.
4980  Economy / Speculation / Re: When we will make new ATH? on: April 12, 2013, 05:16:14 PM
There seems to be too much neutral or even positive news about Bitcoins in the mainstream currently. I don't think the ATH is too far away, perhaps it will be here even in a month's time.

That gives Gox about a month to upgrade.
