4961  Economy / Economics / Re: Will people come back to gold on: January 23, 2019, 05:39:50 PM
Crypto is much better than gold.

Instead of backing money up by some precious metal, it's backed by pure abstract math. It's the concept of the future.

Seriously? Crypto better than Gold?  Cheesy
FYI the money isn't backed by gold since Nixon president, it's maybe 40-50 years ago

I see no purpose in gold. It looks nice. If stuff hits the fan, your gold will have no utility in "the collapse". The government has seized it before. And if there's a societal collapse, having currency should be the least of your concerns. There won't even be an economy.

In a "collapse" Gold may be the only utility people will need, and those who don't own will become poorer than the poors. Govts. may size the gold stored in banks vaults, not under your bed. People know this already that's why some store their gold in a country where it can't be sized (i.e Belgium & Switzerland for the EU)
4962  Economy / Reputation / Re: [Ethical Dilemma] What would you do? on: January 23, 2019, 04:55:30 PM
I don't think it matters who money is stolen from. Stealing is stealing no matter what.
Interesting Kantian philosophy.

@Quickseller
Just to add
IRL, when someone creates damages to the society and is sued, the judge sentences the person to "vacation time in prison" and/or a fine. This fine often represents the amount to compensate the society.

Of course, online and in a case like this, it is difficult or even impossible to send the person to prison. For a fine also, you can say. Except that the funds held could be considered as the compensation for the society. (the crypto community). The judge is this thread

The money could be shared among the people who have been victims if any. And/or donated to something related to our crypto(community). Don't know how/where but it could be spent on education for example.
Or if it isn't something possible then, charities always need money, you can do a lot with a little.

4965  Economy / Economics / Re: Will people come back to gold on: January 21, 2019, 03:13:07 PM
Gold can be physically held, has other valuable properties instead of scarsity. It is only subject to theft by people coming to your house/bank. Has been a safe store of value for hundreds of years.
Crypto is good for worldwide transactions with a good level of anonimity. It however can potentially be stolen or cracked making it easier in use and abuse. It is in it's infancy so we don't fully trust it yet.

As with every investment you need to split risk. So it is good to have both in your portfolio.

I therefore think people will still go back to gold.

People very rarely store their gold in their home, I told it already but since you didn't read anything on this topic... on the top of that it's often not covered by insurances. There is no anonymity in cryptos as soon you exchange it with fiat and the money hits your bank account.

It's like if you hide your face with a balaclava but on your t-shirt, it's written "Hey it's me! Wilhelm!"  Cheesy
4966  Economy / Service Discussion / Banqia is suspicious on: January 21, 2019, 01:40:49 PM
Quonto is not crypto friendly, Anytime is not only for business, Bunq is not crypto friendly. Should I continue or?
Banqia is suspicious, not interested in a long term business, the domain name is set to expire in some months, don't be surprised if your money expire too lol

Conclusion: The list is good for my trashcan
4967  Economy / Scam Accusations / Re: Is This Ad Request A Scam? on: January 21, 2019, 01:05:19 PM
I never accept to be paid with a token. I work for money, not for noodles. Your work has a fixed value and not variable depending on the day.
I don't say it's a scam but you could easily end up with useless coins that have no value, rarely listed, etc, etc...
4968  Economy / Economics / Re: Will people come back to gold on: January 21, 2019, 12:45:04 PM
No kidding.  The only reason I came back to this thread was to see if there were any posts worth meriting, but all I see are the typical one-line sig shitposts which demonstrate that they can barely comprehend the thread title, much less anything else here.

They give me stress. Sometimes I have to read the same post 3 times and it often comes to the point I wonder if I'm not the one who's dumb.
Sure gold won't be used for our daily uses like it was used centuries ago, but as a store of value, it could easily happen. Today generations don't know how it is to live in a war (I don't too btw). If a day it happens they will quickly understand.

4969  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Adoption: Rakuten (Amazon of Japan) to likely introduce BTC as a payment option on: January 21, 2019, 11:25:13 AM
They said the same thing last year and we're still waiting. I know people will say it takes time etc which I agree with, but we need facts and not just some "I will..." to make the shareholders happy.
I am sure too we won't be able to pay using BTC directly, they will create something like a payment processor in which we will able to deposit our bitcoins, and then install the payment processor on theirs websites. In the end, we still need to use a 3rd party...
4970  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-01-18]Daily bitcoin transactions on darknet markets doubled on: January 21, 2019, 11:10:10 AM
If the TXs numbers doubled in 2018, the article isn't saying how it is compared to 5 years ago. Just an excuse to be able to say BTC is for criminal activities. I do remember a study last summer, the number of BTC transactions used for illegal activities failed by over 50% within the last 5 years. What does it mean? People aren't using BTC anymore on the darknet markets.
4971  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Lasso Trade - SCAM or NOT? +3% daily on: January 21, 2019, 10:47:38 AM
It's an HYIP, and by participating to the site you are helping it to scam more. The earlier birds may take some profits, taking the money from the victims who're investing but will never see their money back.
And the HYIPs wich such plans usually collapse within a month or two, depending on how many people keep investing on the site.
No matter the proofs they gave to you, it's easy to manipulate a screenshot
4972  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: What happened to all of the anonymity exchanges? on: January 20, 2019, 09:05:38 PM
That's the result of the regulations, the same regulations people here were saying "regulations are great for Bitcoin!"
See the result now. People are considering Bitcoin as an investment so the framework comes with. There are still ways to buy bitcoins as you want but not via the centralized exchanges.

There is nothing can be done when the government force the exchanges to apply kyc for the customers, if the exchanges not following the rules then the site will be blocked, nobody like crypto being regulated but crypto need the permit from government, if the government ban crypto then we can lose the chance to grow

Blame all people considering cryptos an investment. Exchanges would probably never need to follow the KYC/AML policies if people started to use cryptos as a currency instead.  nobody like crypto being related? Are you serious, even all the shitposters here say regulations are great! I read tons of them daily.
The same people considering cryptos their investments are killing the cryptos world (more than a ban from govt.), and no, we don't need government permissions, we don't need regulations, one of the purposes of Bitcoin was to avoid governments, banks, regulations and so on.
4973  Economy / Economics / Re: Will people come back to gold on: January 20, 2019, 06:56:54 PM
With the current economy, the fears about the Brexit, Italy, the Sino-American problems and the general pessimism among investors; It looks like Gold is coming back the past months. At the same time, countries like the EU, Japan & China are reducing their investments in the economy,
(it should also reduce demand for the USD?)

Even the Central banks are buying more Gold (+13% from the previous year). Economists predict a dark year for 2019 and it seems a lot of large funds are now buying Gold massively. Especially from Asia and Soviets.

Gold is safe haven and i think people already know it. But for transaction, i dont think people will back to gold because its not flexible and its about security. As investment, i am believe people prefer choosing gold as long investment because its already known for centuries
Gold is not safe because of its physical presence it’s hard to keep it away from street robbers and thief’s so I am sure people are not going to connect with good again once they try investing in bitcoin now is hardly possible for them to move again to 19th century where people were not having any other option than Gold.
Typical trash post.
You have no idea what is gold. Do you think people go on the street with their gold in their pocket? Do you think people are dumb as you to invest in Bitcoin. For your education, people had several choice to invest in. Again you know nothing. Don't you have a school in your city?

Thanks to reminding me to set the topics in self-moderated mode Angry
4974  Alternate cryptocurrencies / Altcoin Discussion / Re: ICOs false marketing is destructive. ICOs must provide real & honest values on: January 20, 2019, 05:41:46 PM
To be honest, most ICOs don't bring any value, they are just re-hashing what already exists. Everyone wants to create an ICO, everyone wants to create an altcoin but most don't have any idea about the market, the ecosystem, etc.
And most projects suck to market properly. I am a member of a community managers group (real community manager, not bitcointalk community manager btw) and when I told them what ICOs are doing, they all were laughing
I even remember a website using anime pictures from dragon ball z, WTF
4975  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: Localbitcoins seller trying Skrill scam? on: January 20, 2019, 04:58:11 PM
LocalBitcoin doesn't act as escrow with the transactions? If it does I would escalate your problem quickly. If not then you can consider your money gone forever, unless you can open a dispute with your payment processor.

The +500 trades mean nothing, true that.
4976  Bitcoin / Press / Re: [2019-01-19] Binance Sees Massive Uptake on: January 20, 2019, 12:58:52 PM
It's just the hype for the launch, in some weeks or months it will fade. The fees are too high.

Do you remember when The US taxes department requested all information to Coinbase about their American customers?
Don't be surprised if several countries do the same in a near future. Keep that in your mind because Binance will gladly snitch all your information to your local jurisdiction.
4977  Economy / Reputation / Re: Red trust on Bestmixer: is this justified? on: January 19, 2019, 10:26:45 PM

quote
... "I would agree, if they would have posted in a Wasabi-topic, but they're posting in their own ANN thread"...
/>

So, it's ok to mislead people on your own thread but not in others?
Isn't it like saying it's not ok to kill someone in the street but you can leisurely do it at home and the windows open

4978  Economy / Service Discussion / Re: [New LIST] Free EU bank accounts that you can be opened directly online on: January 19, 2019, 09:12:47 PM
LOL?

I have no interest to become a customer of a company desperate enough to create multiple accounts on a forum to promote spam the site.
However, if you need to hire someone to properly market your business I could be interested to become a staff  Cheesy

Your method remember me Epay, same methods to promote spam the website.

BTW, you don't seem interested to make a long term business, your domain name expires in 5 months.
4979  Economy / Economics / Re: The Decline and Fall of the European Union on: January 19, 2019, 07:35:05 PM

The point is:
a) Greece hasn't gone bankrupt
b) Greece hasn't left the EU
c) Greece is experiencing economic growth

If Greece hasn't gone bankrupt it's because Europe injected millions in the country. Yes, sure Greece hasn't left the EU, it is because the fishes still have food to eat. When famine comes, the fish will eat in another ocean.
Greece economic growth: it's easy when you still have your parents cleaning your mistakes...

Greece is to be blamed for its bureaucratic model but the money that was spent in Greece wasn't at the same rate as the growth that Greece is giving to the Eurozone indirectly.

Greece became a cheap place for businesses and many Greeks scientists have left the country and now they work around Central Europe, giving money to companies that operating in the European Union and eventually contributing to the GDP of EU. Mistakes occurred from both sides but before blaming, better see the whole picture.
If Greece is to be blamed why the European citizens should pay? when you say "the growth that Greece is giving to the Eurozone indirectly." what are you talking about
4980  Bitcoin / Bitcoin Discussion / Re: Bitcoin ATMs should target developing and third world countries on: January 19, 2019, 06:38:16 PM
When you use an ATM, you withdraw cash and then spend it at the bakery, supermarket or whatever. If you use an ATM to get bitcoins then what do you do? Nothing at all, you can't pay anything with it. So why should a buyer use an ATM when it is more convenient to do it online and cheaper. Likewise, if you want to sell bitcoins, why would a typical user go to an ATM to sell his bitcoins?
There may also be a cost that makes these countries unprofitable for companies. If you're paid in BTC and can pay everything in BTC then the question won't be no more.

Well you can also use the Bitcoin ATM to withdraw cash.
Let's say you're visiting a country and you need cash in the local currency, all you need is a Bitcoin ATM. No bank, no credit cards...

But the prices are very high, I would still prefer to use an online exchange and get my money within 24h or less. Also, most, if not all, the machines need to scan your ID and some even take a photo of your face. I admit it can be useful in an emergency in a foreign country but other than that....
