It's started to become interesting, and a few posters are making mistakes, and showing misunderstandings. I'd rather they did that, than just copy somebody else's explanation when they don't understand it. I've expanded the scope to allow posters to discuss and/or correct previous posts. Hopefully this will generate some thoughts about the topic.

Here is a bit of clarification then. The rules -
- No spam - No plagiarism. - Newbies and beginners only - You can correct previous posts if you think they are wrong - for example, miners are the guys who insert transactions into blocks - Please stay on topic - this question is about block linking, and not about block composition in general - You can make more than one post, but all posts must be beneficial for the board, and helpful for new Bitcoiners.

I gave you a merit for that post. It's a pretty generalised basic explanation, so there is still plenty of scope for members to expand on it.

Here we go with another merit giveaway thread. Once again the awards are to be given to new and junior members only. The thread will be self-moderated, and when one topic is answered, I'll add another topic. Spamming and very low value answers will be deleted. All replies must be original, and not copied from other sources. If you don't know the answer, then Google the question and read about it. When you think you understand the topic, then post the answer in your own words. So here is the first question.
The Bitcoin blockchain is constructed from a sequence of linked blocks. Please explain how the blocks are linked
Thread restarted because i forgot to make it self-moderated. The merit awards will be in the range of 1 - 5 based on the comprehensiveness ofyour answers.

I've started another merit awarding thread in beginners. In it, I ask for an explanation of the block linkage in the blockchain. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4564849. I'm hoping to shift the focus in beginners back to Bitcoin and crypto. Do you think that the question is too technical for the beginners board?

Thread restarted to allow for self-moderation.
Mods - please delete this thread.

So is this how it's going to work?
You get yourself an address and a private key, and you store the info in an envelope in their vault. You then buy loads of Bitcoin, and send it to that address. You don't tell anybody about it, and when you die, the bank moves the coins into their own wallet.
I'm quite sure you can leave it to your heirs like you would with any other valuables. I'm sure you can, but it will probably be like some of the swiss numbered bank accounts. The money isdeposited to hide it from the world, and the owner doesn't tell anybody about it. When he dies, nobody knows how to collect it, or even if it exists.

Actually there is no limit for your activity. I can be a very good example of this situation here. I got a lot more activity than required but I don't have any merits so I'm stuck in here. But I didn't stop. I'm continuously being active in this forum.
You've made some interesting posts, and I gave you a merit for this one. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4436761.msg40703341#msg40703341I don't think your problem is post quality, but posting the 1,000th comment in a mega thread is probably not going to get you any exposure.

I don't think the winning entry in that contest was accurate.
btw - a cheque is a bill of exchange, and Bitcoin isn't a bill of exchange imho.

Maybe there are 3 levels Deleted account - where the account is cancelled and blocked. Banned accounts - these could have temporary restrictions, but the member can still log in for activity Restricted accounts - accounts where the member is not able to post for a period, but other activities are permitted.

Please make sure that the image adds something meaningful to the thread, and it isn't just some trivial picture that saves you having to write text.

I was not even aware of the merit being given to the dentit account (nor do I know what merit does?)
Wow - another shocker. A bounty manager who appears to be responsible for monitoring his spammers posting behaviour, and he doesn't know what merit is. It really is time that bounty managers were reviewed.

OK I've edited another post of mine from back in 2016, Let's see how it handles that one.

|

Doesn't the first paragraph in your quoted explanation explin this?

Well it hasn't indexed my edited additon. We'll see if it picks it up tomorrow, but I thinit unlikely. Based on the evidence so far, it looks as if Google may ask SMF for a list of the latest posts. I'll copy the post tomorrow and bump the thread, then I'll delete the old post to see how Google handles that. I might even correct the typos as well. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)

Well at least the semi-religious nature of the post reminded me that I should do something about - Jet Cash's divine comedy - the nine circles of merit hell. ![Smiley](https://bitcointalk.org/Smileys/default/smiley.gif)
