501  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Pair on s-9s now running photos are up. on: June 15, 2016, 03:46:03 AM
Damn that's sweet stuff.  Always fun reading up on the solar array you have going Smiley

I would agree  very cool to see 2 S9's connected the the array.   I like the loft how does it do with dust out of curiosity?
502  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Storing coins on: June 14, 2016, 04:23:48 PM
A hardware wallet like https://www.keepkey.com/

Hardware wallets are a great idea if storing a good amount of coin's.  I did a hand's on with a keepkey - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1283805.0  The one that has been the most popular is Trezor which I also have a hand's on with - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1298917 .  The nice thing about these is it signs transactions on device instead of computer which adds a LOT of extra security.

There will always be paper wallets for those just holding and not using it aswell. If done properly they are not a bad thing.
503  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Bitcoin to Fiat to My Bank Account on: June 14, 2016, 04:19:47 PM
Hey everyone, i still new to this whole bitcoin processing but i've manage to earn quite enough and i would like to know how exactly i could change my bitcoins to fiat then transfer it to my bank account so that i can use the money locally. I would appreciate it if you could provide safe and legitimate sites for transactions and explain the process in a simple way. Thank you.

We need to know your country as it which exchange is going to work depends on country.  This is due to keeping legal and following that countries laws.  For example in us it's KYC that is huge so things like Coinbase work great but need to know who you are.

But it should be as easy as setting up a checking account and linking it to a exchange in many countries.  Which means sell/transfer is all that will be needed after you get through most exchanges verification process.  But again depends on country and exchange.  I even opened up a checking account just for this to keep money separate from other checking account's just as it makes me feel a little more secure.
504  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to collect BTC ?? on: June 14, 2016, 04:15:32 PM
any info faucet good ??i hate gambling making me lose

Faucets are item's that pay out micro payments, most are almost dust amounts which is why people use wallets such as Xapo.   You will earn pennies per hour is what I say.  And sadly it is true.  I suggest looking for other ways to use the time.

On gambling... you lose long term on most any game (would say all but sport's betting/etc that some say they can win... but it is far from sure).  But gambling is a hobby not an investment so don't expect returns on it.
505  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Just Bought The Anminter S7-LN thoughts? on: June 14, 2016, 04:11:44 PM
I think the s7 LN is my favorite deal. It's just so conveinant having the full package and it is cheap too. Not a big rip off either imo even though the psu are a bit shady lol

I think it is interesting it is really the first all in one since S4+.   I believe that was last bitmain product to come with miner/psu.   I think it will be interesting to watch as it gives a miner for those on 110/120 that don't want to buy a pricey ATX psu for full S7.  The S7 if you have 220/240 with AP3 PSU is great but I realize not everyone has that voltage.

So will be interesting to see how it sells.  I really want to see some more pictures of it.  Don't think I have see a good high res of the miner from all angles yet I keep hoping to see that.
Has one been out in the wild yet? I haven't seen someone personally mining on one yet either just store pictures from bitmain.

There have been people mentioning of ordering of thread.  But few pictures to come out I keep hoping to see more of it.   I believe sidehack has one in the wild and hacking power efficiency in - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1504228.0 .

So out there just not a ton of pictures I have seen of it.  He is also running a group buy of his hacked efficiency one's - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1509068.0 .
506  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Which firm of mining hardware providers is the best one? on: June 14, 2016, 04:05:02 PM
Looking also for great idea tips here

We need to know more information to really be of help.   What is your electricity price that is going to be one of biggest factors?   Also do you have a area heat/sound will be ok?   What is area like?

We just need to know a lot more to be of any meaningful help.
507  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: bitcoin goes high, halving gets near what's the 'near future' of mining? on: June 14, 2016, 04:03:06 PM
No matter what happens I'll be keeping our s7's Innosilicon A2's running on custom images and KNC Neptune's running.

My hope is that some of the larger midsized farms might start to struggle with costing after the halving depending on what the price dose.  I can't state that anymore. if the price dumps again for the prolonged period we saw from the first and highest prices last time then it could spell disastar for some with large costs and less rewards.

But on the other hand, if the price stays high and the pump continues for a longer period then it could balance out well.

There are many play's that could come out of this. untill they do. We all playing the guessing game..

I'm am not hoping larger/midsize farms struggle, as that is kinda meaning were in a scenario that hurts us home/hobby miner's to.  I am hoping BTC continues to rise before having (and after).    We have had made significant gains in value in a short period.

What the new price point for S7's after having to be profitable hard to say.  But I'm a lot more positive with recent upward trend on value with hashrate remaining not going crazy.  It's been a heck of a lot better period before having then I expected.  I thought hashrate would skyrocket.... but I was wrong which I love to be wrong in matters when it's good.
508  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread june 7 to june 20 -picks are open!!.... prize = 0.20 btc on: June 14, 2016, 03:56:45 PM
+4.6 = Notlist3d

I am hoping for a under 5 percent week either way it's hard to complaign with BTC's current price on coinbase in 670.  So a little up/down with getting so close to 700 but still some good numbers.   Hopefully we push it even further would really like to crush through 700 by end of period and have it as new base.  But even if we are high 600's I will be pretty happy.
509  Bitcoin / Hardware / Re: Bitmain's Released Antminer S9, World's First 16nm Miner Ready to Order on: June 14, 2016, 03:41:14 PM
I have been doing a little testing. I don't have one in person so no high res pictures to share of the unit.   But I can say it seems to run very well right around 14T just as expected.  It reported very close to the 14T with very low hardware errors.  So again all signs here point to good things.

I used Antpool to get a 24 hour baseline which was at 13.72 TH/s.  Again this is a early test and the slightly lower hashrate could be due to things such as network variance, pool performance, unit itself, etc.  I do plan on testing other pools for more baselines. On the picture below is also an S7 just as reference. The S9 does tower above it on it's hashing speed.

Could you try to connect it to Kano.is, since rumor is that Bitmain made a hack of cgminer, so most likely only their own Ant "Shit" pool works ??

On last post of page before:
.....
Also on pools I have not been able to give it a 24 hour run yet but did test Kano for around 2 hour's and no issues.   So again all signs point to good.   I am testing pools for 24 hour runs based on pool hashrate currently as kinda a general path to follow.  So far very positive going off hashrate and performance.

First pool I gave it a little test was Kano due to rumor's.  I have had no issues with mining on it below is a picture for a little over 2 hours on Kano without issues.  I went to 24 hour test's on pools based on hashrate of pools. Switching from there.  But again no issues I experienced with mining on Kano.is .

So as BitmainWarranty shows above it does work great with Kano.is - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1493601.msg15207138#msg15207138 .   So no need to be worried about pool compatibility as it does work again without issue.   So again signs so far point to very good news Smiley

great info.

any comments on the temps and fans - did you hear any "woo-woo" sound like the S7s?

I don't have the S9 in person this is being accessed remotely.  So I can't say far as noise but fan's one is currently running at 4200 RPM and other at 3800 RM.  On temps they look good but I don't have another another one so I only have one to base it off of and can't compare it with being accessed remotely.

I can say currently around 8 hours into my 24 hour test on F2 and seems to be running great so far:

With not having it in person I can't say on somethings I know everyone want's to know/see.  But I can't wait to start seeing others on forum receive and see some pictures and comments about it in person.

512  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: 0.3 btc in a week on: June 13, 2016, 09:09:45 PM
It's really difficult in a week ! It's a short period to earn 0.3 bitcoin , there is no ways :/

0.3 per week is a lot high and i don't think anyone could earn this amount without investing.. problem with pos is that you will need some money to start with, and maybe he cant invest on it because of that.

Yeah if you have initial capital to invest then you can invest in trading and start earning some profits on regular basis, its risky though but that risk can be taken if you want to earn that amount on weekly basis.

.3 a week is going to be hard without investment or a very good skill that people want.   Some think BTC is easy to earn since it is digital but it holds real value just like a fiat money.  For most that don't have resources this is going to be a impossible goal.  Just look at the math.

.3 a week for a month is 1.2 BTC.   Take that for a entire year you are talking about 14.4 BTC so that kinda put's it in scale of how much this is.   And again going with current value of around 690 each that is around 9,936 USD per year.  So almost 10K currently a year.   That is a good amount of money and is why a goal of .3 per week may be out of reach for many without very good investment's.
513  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to collect BTC ?? on: June 13, 2016, 09:03:27 PM
The easiest way to get a large amount is to just buy bitcoin through localbitcoins or an exchange like coinbase that you can transfer dollars from to buy bitcoins. Otherwise you need to wire money to an exchange or try other methods like faucets to get small amounts.

The exchange varies on country very much as they have to be legal with that countries laws.  Coinbase is a great option for those in US though.   I would strongly suggest using it or other trusted exchange over localbitcoins.   It is going to be cheaper and closer to current price.

But in Coinbase case with US you do have to prove identity since KYC laws in US.   But after linked to a checking account it is very nice/easy to buy coins.   Localbitcoins is really more for those who want to buy bitcoins and not be known in my eyes and who are willing to pay more to do so.  Personally I think an exchange is best solution for most users.
514  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Questions about outdoor bitcoin mining on: June 13, 2016, 08:49:18 PM
Why would you want to build a outside one? for security reason's I would of thought it would be a very bad idea.
It would prevent heat from building up inside his house or apartment for one reason, and you wouldn't have to deal with the noise of the miner. Running a miner during summer can be a real killer, especially when outside temperatures can consistently be in the mid 90's.

I would tend to stay away from storing mining gear outside in a little "mining house", especially during the wintertime. If a warm miner is shut off during the winter, any moisture in the air can (and probably will) condense and freeze onto the miner. That in itself probably wouldn't be a major problem, as long as the miner is thoroughly dried off before rebooting again. If you were to ever have a power outage for a few minutes, you'd probably be kissing that miner goodbye because it would be off just long enough to have moisture condense and freeze on it, and then it would power up again and short things out.

Summers can take work to have a proper mining area.  I know I had to find the sweet spot with CFM's used since in my area I'm stuck with fan's instead of evaporation cooling.  And then after all that the heat did not exhaust fast enough so I had to go to a commercial gable fan. Granted were talking about more miners.

The idea of "bitcoin mining box" i just see as a way to kill miners.  I can't imagine it being built to qualiity it needs and I think there are serious problems as I mentioned above.   He mentions Canada and cold.... and also summer and hot so guessing he get's both.   The cost to do this right I think outweigh what 1 miner will earn.   He has to make it chances are with a fan to pull air in (i would guess have not tested miner in a box) and make a filter or something that would stop all water, evaporation, snow and still pull in a good amount of air.

We can speculate all day on it but really he should send miner to a hosting facility chances are vs this outside box.   Unless OP really is building a super quality housing for it which we really again don't know so speculation.
515  Bitcoin / Mining support / Re: Questions about outdoor bitcoin mining on: June 13, 2016, 03:10:01 PM
I want to build an outside bitcoin mining box that will have a roof and vents for Antminer s7, but will condensation be a problem? what about in the winter will it be too cold for it? I live in Canada. In the summer would it be too hot? Rain won't be the issue I will come up with a pretty good box design. What if it shuts down for what ever reason will it be okay?

As long as the rigs are mining, i think its okay. But if snow get in there, not so much. If you shut it down, i dont think you should boot it at -40C, no. Typically the best is to dump the heat out. If it was a proper heated shed, then sure why not, you could use the miner's output to keep the shed at a ok tempt and just vent what you need to keep the temps to something like 10C.

Not really true I don't think on as long as they are mining it's ok.  If water can get in corrosion is possible most keep far away from water for this reason.   This is dated at this point but shows what water corrosion can do to a miner - https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=521520.msg11018389#msg11018389 .  So it can be running and still get corrosion.

A box outside that allows air in/out sounds like a way for water/snow/dust/other bad things to get in.   Putting it outside just scares me.   I don't see many "mining boxes" outside being weather proof.

i also want to know Cheesy the best mining site Cheesy

I push people at kano.is , but there are more then a few good ones.
Thanks for your sharing i would like to ask if what is the advantage if we find other pool like in your link you given.
the currently i known site is https://www.antpool.com/home.htm
I mean what is the difference?

Here is a good comparison of a lot of pools: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Comparison_of_mining_pools  You might take a look at different reward types on pools.

And you might find it interesting on the last X hours on distribution of blocks solved: https://blockchain.info/pools?timespan=24hrs
517  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How to collect BTC ?? on: June 13, 2016, 02:44:03 PM
easiest way to collect bitcoins at the moment is to either buy it or to participate in signature campaigns

buy bitcoin is easy, but it is difficult to buy because we dont have no money and it's not a good way to collect BTC.

Buying bitcoins is really a easy way but we cannot call it collecting i guess, because we are paying money to get that and OP doesnt mean that by collecting.
And also, not everyone in this industry can buy bitcoin, maybe there are some people who have no jobs, or they are still students like me, so they won't be able to do that thing that is why they will have to find another way to collect btc.

Being a student you can still earn bitcoins though.  I know it's a little harder to do now but I mined during college I had my rig at my home, not with dorms/apartments.   I started with GPU mining which you can really do again with Ether.   It's the first GPU coin in a long time worth mining.

Also depending on electricity asics are a possibility.   But I realize both of these take investments.   Most profit is going to be from things that take investments or skills.   Even sign campaign takes time to really learn and be able to help out.  Heck I waited till hero before I even did it.  If your able to buy coins though like you mention with having it is a very interesting time to be holding coins.
518  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: Help. What is Bitcoin mining, and how do I do it? on: June 13, 2016, 02:36:59 PM
Guys, what about those mining USB rigs available online? is it worth a try? thanks  Huh

sorry, you're too late for that too. But, you can mine some altcoins with those USB rigs, still you're burning your PC and this too makes small profit only.

The problem is not cost of PC with usb sticks, it is the actual cost of the sticks compared to hash you get.  For example compacs are great I own a few and use a raspberry PI which is very little electricity to run.   But cost of sticks.... you will not make back mining.

On altcoin again... usb cost is high on sticks.  And really Ether is the altcoin everyone is focused on and it takes pretty good GPU's to mine it.
519  Other / Beginners & Help / Re: How earn 1BTC a year? on: June 13, 2016, 02:33:22 PM
You can easily earn it from gambling but that is not recommended as there is no guarantee that you will earn on regular basis, better to join signature campaign and start earning.

You really cannot easily earn it from gambling.  It is mentioned SO much in here but gambling is a hobby not a investment.  There is actually a guarantee you lose long term in most cases as the "house" takes a cut.  But I can't imagine a solid way to say here is how to earn 1 BTC per year with gambling.

If you are full member signature campaign is not a bad way to go if done right.  Full member is really when I think you getting good rates. But it takes a lot more time then a lot think to do constructive posts some are not so great.
520  Bitcoin / Mining speculation / Re: Diff thread june 7 to june 20 -picks are closed!!.... prize = 0.20 btc on: June 13, 2016, 02:16:19 PM
Taking profits on btc is very difficult. The method above  or something like it allows for you to be partly correct no matter what happens.

This is very true I kinda find it hard to part with my BTC unless it is for miners, or I do pull out electricity from it.  I figure worst comes to worst I am not out electricity which adds up.   I cash it out once a month for it.

But I like to hold I have sold some coins over time here and there for something fun.  But I enjoy holding I find it hard to pick a target to sell at.   But with around a month till having I predict I don't sell much.   And I could look like a idiot in two months but time will tell.
